Merkamo , 42 Hanbury St , London E1 Zinash show us our table , she was so helpful We were going outside to take some pictures , but Zinash said we could use the downstairs as no one was there , so we had the place to ourselves.we did ask if we can clean up after we made a mess , but was told not to as they will do it , so back up to our table and order our food , the food was fantastic and said we will be back . as for Zinash she is a 5* could not do enough for us Don't forget to like this and subscribe , as it will help to keep me going and post more videos , a big thanks for all that look in , and have a great day :)

The newly opened Merkamo restaurant isn't listed on Tripadvisor so posting here. I wanted to recommend Merkamo, the newly opened restaurant (opened in July 2024) of the same owner as the food stall within Spitalfields Market. Located on 42 Hanbury Street, London E1 5JP47, next to Brick Lane. Delicious 100% vegan ethiopian food served. We ordered their tasting plate Beyayanetu, with lentil samosa and vaccine juice - it was delicious. Met the owner Zinnat and her husband who run the place and they are so passionate and down to earth and hardworking. It was a joy talking to her.

On a walk around spitalfields market we wanted some lunch to share and saw this amazing stall. We got the special which meant we got to try everything and it was superb. Flavours we hadn't experienced before, healthy and totally vegan which made it absolutely perfect. Set us up for an afternoon of walking! ; Really friendly staff.

Wonderful stall with friendly staff and great food at a pretty low price. It’s all great but the okra is amazing. All feels really good for you too, and it’s vegan!

I was visiting our London office and wandered out for lunch with colleagues. We crossed over into Spitalfields market and split off to explore different food places. One colleague suggested Merkamo and the two of us joined a lengthy queue which was a good sign. In all honesty, as we got closer and could see into the glass display I wasn't overly enthused. I've been a vegetarian for decades and have never tried Ethiopian food, it was a little out of my comfort zone and different to things I normally eat. What this experience told me is that often it pays to be adventurous. My colleague was having the special, a mix of everything, so I joined suit and picked a samosa as an accompaniment. We found our colleagues and sat enjoying the sun and the food. I wish I'd gone for the large bowl, it was as the title suggests, outstanding. The textures, flavours.....it simply tasted amazing. I know where I'll be visiting on my monthly visits to London.

Came to Spitalfield Market for the first time, and came across this stall! Tried the Traditional, and loved it - healthy, tasty and filling. First time I've tried Ethiopian food, and left with a great first impression. Highly recommend if you're visiting the market!

Wow - vegan and Ethiopian food. This beautiful eatery in Spitalfields Market was out of this world amazing. The lady was so passionate about the food and the taste was amazing. She talked us through the 'bit of everything' plate and we were in palate heaven. Best dinner in London under a tenner - please go and taste the joy.

My office is just around the corner from this place and we would all come and get lunch from here regularly. Hands down the best Ethiopian I have ever had and the best vegan food I have ever had and if I had time to think it over this may just be the best food I have ever had. I cannot overstate how good this is. You don't need to be vegan to enjoy this. 10/10

Probably the best food stall in Spitalfields. They do all vegan Ethiopian food for a reasonable-ish price (considering it's in a trendy East London food market serving hearty portions). Definitely pop here if you want a flavoursome, filling meal. Would recommend trying injera (sourdough flatbread pancake-kinda thing).

There is a wide choice of food at Old Spitalfields Market but swerving all the chain restaurants and heading for Merkamo was definitely a good move. The special was recommended to me by the lovely guy who runs the stall and it was a great recommendation. I hadn't come across some of the ingredients before (teff, sorghum seeds) but I'm really glad I have now. The good was fresh , a little spicy and just so filling and tasty. Forget the rest, try Merkamo. Good stuff!

My first time trying Ethiopian and I was in heaven. I bought a special for £7.50 which included small tasters of so many dishes, inhera pancakes, lentil samosa and a coconut dumpling. The food was flavoursome, so varied and very healthy. We ended up returning the next day to get the same meals. Vegans and none vegans will not be disappointed. Ethiopian is my new favourite food!

Merkamo Special & a Traditional. 2 meals £14. Grest variety of items in the meal. Mine had dumplings (on the Special), which were nothing like anything I have had before (light & tastey). The rolled up wraps ? Not sure what they were but delicious....

Great atmosphere and service but I am afraid the food let the place down. Not all of it was poor as such deserves around 3 stars. Hopefully they business can take feedback positively and work on freshness of focus on cooking and flavours easy to get back upto the 5 star mark.

I recently visited this Nando’s and was truly impressed by the customer service of one of the staff members. From the moment I walked in his attentiveness and polite demeanour was evident. When I inquired about an item not on the menu he made every effort to accommodate my needs despite the busy rush. His genuine willingness to help and cheerful attitude truly stood out, and he is a true asset to the team! Big shout out to Sheikh

I'm a driver for Uber eat, just eat, deliveroo , I don't understand why the lady with the black glasses has to treat the drivers like animals! I went today to take an order (me and as if I were a customer) I greeted her and asked how she was, without even looking me in the face she told me I had to wait outside! Ma'am, I remind you that nothing about you gives you the power to treat others badly! her and she needs to learn some manners
