Jungle Braai in Tower Hamlets

The food is hit and miss. Some items are great, others very poor. There doesn't seem to be consistency which is the biggest issue here. Service was good and the ambience was nice. The staff are hardworking and regularly check in.

MIS - STEAK I went to JB to break my fast, I can say it was the worst experience I've had in any restaurant, food was standard was very poor, service was atrocious and to top everything we found hair in the food. Very disappointed that they don't expect card, and when you do pay by cash they don't have the correct change.

My visit to Jungle Braii left much to be desired. Amidst high expectations, the reality fell far short. The buffalo wings, intended to be a highlight, arrived disappointingly cold, lacking the warmth and flavor one would expect. The steak, anticipated to be tender and succulent, proved to be overly chewy, detracting from the dining experience. Equally disappointing was the lack of attentiveness from our waiter, whose absence bordered on neglectful. It's disheartening when the service fails to match the caliber of the cuisine. To exacerbate matters, a dear friend discovered a hair in their meal, a discovery that understandably tainted the entire dining experience for our group. Such oversights in food quality and hygiene are unacceptable in any establishment, let alone one that purports to offer a pleasant dining experience. Regrettably, my experience at Jungle Braii left me with no desire to return. With so many other dining options available, I see no reason to subject myself to another disappointing meal and lackluster service.

A blend of African and Portuguese cuisine with a kick of south Asian. Wide choice of menu. Brilliant service, piping hot sizzling food.

Under new management so a few menu changes. Food was basic nothing special. The chops were tasteless and not cooked that great. Fries portion very small! The rice was cold and steak was a basic quality! The buffalo chicken wings and barbecue wings were the best and are a must try. The rest just wasn’t hitting the spot. Some items didn’t come but they still tried to charge us. Won’t be going back here for a long time!

Great experience after a long time

All Got severe food poisoning and it was the only food we had all eaten. one went to hospital for severe dehydration from constant vomiting.

My first time here I was really looking forward to going as wanted to visit a south African restaurant for ages and I wasnt disappointed I have to say the food was amazing the service prompt and friendly 100% recommend will definitely be going back cant fault it at all x

I had an impromptu meal here once and was great. I ordered online this time around. Chips was stale( oil old), the food was really salty and gave me food poisoning and bad stomach ache almost immediately after. Also I think the restaurant may have some mice cos my corn turned up with bits appearing to have been eaten by rodents no crumbs were in the bowl. Customers beware.

Good and delicious food, very enjoyable food. However the guy was very moody and uninteractive, we ordered a sprite and instead he gave us Cocoa Cola and some other drink which we did not order. When i complemented him on the food and service, he was very miserable, moody and rude. He also did not show any response to the inquiry i had about the toilets, so i did not go because he totally ignored me. Atmosphere was very mundane because the customer service was poor and it not justify the taste of the food, the food itself was very good, nicely cooked and prepared and i enjoyed it very much no complaints there. The waiter was very rude and did not say thank you or showed any courtesy upon payment and exit, even from the get go he was persistent we finish up. Mundane and poor waiter manners but great food.

Had my friends birthday party here, super accommodating, great food, allowed to be free to enjoy the place! Would highly recommend the Zulu sausage- it’s awesomeeeeee :)))))))))) thank you very much!

Eight of us lads went for dinner. We spent over £200. Chops were decent, as well as the chicken steak. My friends did not enjoy the steak and chips. The mojito was ok, the strawberry mojito wasn’t nice. Service was questionable with the guy disappearing randomly and then appearing again. The owners don’t care about the restaurant, please see my photos. Condition of the restaurant is disgusting. There is potential however a long way to go!

The food is amazing at jungle braai , I've eaten here before. Amazing and tasty . I ordered with uber Eats and received the wrong delivery, long story short, I went to Jungle braai they listened kindly and decided to correct the order for me on the spot instead of having to go through uber Eats Customer service whose customer service number was not helpful, the staff prepared for me what I ordered. Amazing customer service. Waiting for my order as I type this review.

Made an order, received the food but couple of items were missing. Contacted Jungle Baai and spoke to Majid and he arranged for the missing items to be sent to us. Unfortunately, the Sprite leaked onto to the food by the time we received it. Spoke to the owner, Majid and he said that he will send it again to us but then later during the conversation changed his tone. Be very careful; their customer service is extreme shallow. Very poor behaviour by the owner. He has just lost a customer.

Ordered lamb ribs last night. Firstly I think they were mutton as meat was tough and secondly the ribs were undercooked, ribs meat should fall off bones. Very disappointing. Sauce was excellent

Nice food, service was fine but we didn't have enough spoons and forks for the people at the table. We were given 1 cup less per person at the table also.

Food is amazing. Weve been coming here for two years every month. It’s pricy but worth every penny! The taste cannot be found anywhere else! The meat melts in your mouth and I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner! Fills you up and the customer service is cute! Tables and chairs are sticky though. Deserves a deep clean other than that everything is perfect! So glad we found this place! Obsessed!

Brilliant aspect to this resturant Is one can preorder dine in food so that it is ready at time of arrival, particularly great for Ramdhaan Iftar.

I generally don't enjoy meat very much, and can still admit this place has the nicest meat platters I've had in a long time. The chips come in quite small portions but you can pick between skinny and fat ones which is nice. We didn't eat the prawn and I wasn't a fan of the buffalo wings, although the steak and other wings and ribs were perfect. The price is what you would expect- it's a treat rather than a place for lunch, but they only take cash which made it a bit difficult. The mocktails and milkshakes are lovely too. The toilets are okay in terms of cleanliness and the décor is interesting (wildlife). It isn't the cleanest place I've been but nor is it the dirtiest. The décor could do with some dusting in general. It is a bit dark in there even during the daytime, but overall it's not unpleasant. The service overall is wanting, however. I've been there and eaten in twice. First time (a Sunday afternoon), the waiter had excellent customer service but the man on the counter didn't have any at all or know how to smile (neither had much English which didn't interfere much). The second time (Sunday lunchtime), the waiter was the most miserable person I've seen in a while. He seemed annoyed by our coming and almost flung each dish onto the table. Then started clearing up while we were still eating. It was a fairly big (expensive) order so I guess it wasn't that he was unhappy about. Anyway, if they invested in smile training, and in light of the food, I'd give Jungle Braai a 5 otherwise.

Used to be so good, but gone downhill. The food is still decent, but the service is beyond rubbish. Food comes out in drips and draps, if you try speaking to the waiter he has a dirty attitude. Still cash only which adds to the headache.

This place used to be really good. I went again 2 days ago and it was the opposite! Ordered a few starters which were decent and steak and chips as the mains course. The steak was really tough, dry and lacked essentially seasoning. I would’ve expected the quality to be like it was a few years ago, especially at the price range they were charging. Waiter was in his own world and lacked the hospitality that’s needed in restaurants. He took ages to bring our cutlery etc and when we asked him for descriptions on some of the menu items - he kept short and with no info given!

The Indian guy try lie to me first saying they had no coke cans and try sell me a coke bottle when I could clearly see a coke can in the fridge as the coke bottle was more expensive

Was disappointed with my steak it was very chewy.

Food was OK but my wife found it a bit too tangy, my butterfly chicken steak was nice and cooked through and the fries were decent and tasted nice. They just opened so it was very quiet until a bit later when it got busy, they only take cash but there's a couple of cash points near by

It's really a 8/10 Food was very good, lovely portions, Decent family atmosphere, Unfortunately, they only accept cash, hence the 1 star Management needs to get with the times, If they wasn't hmc i would have called hmrc just to inconvenience them loool

One of my favourite steak places. Been coming here for years and the steak is pretty much the same. The brothers will let you pray there if you need to.

Worst experience in a food place in a long time. The chops were over cooked, very chewy. Asked the chef if he could make new ones as my as we could not chew them, it was like rubber. Then our steaks come, worst steaks ever. Even more chewie. Never going there again .

Food was very good and yummy. Price point….it is what it is food does cost a bit but considering everything is homemade it is quiet high in quality. Although service isn’t the best and a bit slow.

The only reason I'm even leaving 2 stars is because of the food was actually nice. However, the service of the guy who brought the food to the table resembles someone who doesn't even want to be there, let alone care. When I went with my friend and ordered food, we sat down and the guy bringing the food to the table practically dashed the food on the table. This guy clearly doesn't care or respect the customers, especially the fact that he was holding a hot plate. The guy was not even hospitable, he just wanted to put the food down and be gone, he wasn't even friendly or approachable. And also what's with the no card machine? Absolute headache having to find an Atm to get cash.

What you see in the pictures is what you call a meal for 3 😂😂 having a laugh I swear Came to London for a trip and stopped by the restaurant must admit service and food quality was not good . We ordered and within 5 minutes the food was done, clearly means food was pre made or frozen and not done with love ! The prawns they were pre cooked so hard and dry didn’t even come out of the shell. Place was really dirty. Man said the drinks are £2… didn’t even want to risk drinking tap water. Was trying to eat my meal and could only hear screaming in the kitchen and staff members just relaxing on their phones. DONT BOTHER ORDERING ANY PRAWNS ANS SAUSAGES !! I swear

The Ambience was not so great as I had to wait. It did pickup towards 8 o clock but I wouldn't recommend it.

Update: the Hygiene rating is now 0!!! Check the council website. They must have rats or mice This place has a very poor hygiene rating of 2 due to its well-below standard hygiene practices. Please check the food standards agency website for reference. The hygiene dropped almost 12 months ago and despite reassessments; it has remained the same. It's absolutely beyond me why and how people are still eating here...

Mixed platter was excellent, very tasty food, portions are big. Very reasonably priced.

Hi,jungle bari is all time favorite restaurant for our family.staff is really friendly.customer service is excellent.chicken salad and chops is our all time favorite.their chicken burgers and chips are also really good 👍.i would recommend everyone to must try their food. I would definitely give 10/10.

I went to have dinner at this place this week. I have been before but now I will definitely not be returning. I found a hair in my food and I told the main guy who takes orders. He shrugged his shoulders, no apology at all and said he doesn't know where it came from. Then he said it may have come from the brushes used when cooking. He took the peice of food with the hair and showed his colleagues who were cooking. He then came back and said it's a female hair and they don't have female workers. How on earth did he know that! I told him it's not mine as I am wearing a headscarf. He then said he doesn't know where it came from and continued continued make excuses and left. My dad then spoke to him and confronted him about the poor customer service and the fact that he hadn't even apologised or given us a discount etc rather he kept making excuses. Even after being confronted he did the same thing. The customer service is awful at this places and I do not recommend going.

This restaurant is unworthy of any stars whatsoever. Frustratingly, we walked straight out of the restaurant as soon as we saw the bold sign that stated how you do not take card. That’s unacceptable, every restaurant should allow card as to not inconvenience customers. It is unethical and inexcusable. I was looking forward to eating dinner here but we were discouraged by the requirement of cash only. We were with our two small babies, so to take cash out before a meal is not viable at all. Please change this.

Food was ok but they put their special sauce on everything so the chops, ribs and steak tasted all the same. It took a while for the food to come out and it didn't come out at the same time so some people were half finished before I even got my food. The restaurant looked under staffed and that was shown with the service and delay in getting food out. Finally we found out that they didn't take card payments when paying the bill, luckily we had enough cash.

16th July ordered 2 burgers meal and chicken salad. It took them more than 1 hour to deliver the food, which arrived absolutely cold. I also told them NOT to add any sauce in the burgers which were full of mayonnaise, which was horrible. Will never order food from them again.

Very bad quality food, steak was very rigid and rubbery, we did not finish our food, thats how rubbery it was’ and we spent more than £150. We've been regulars for 6.5 years. Hubby had a bad experience a few months back and I said let's just try again for my birthday. Chef has inability to understand how to cook steak to different types. Both medium and well done were inedible. Utterly uncuttable with a sharp knife and couldn't even chew as it was like cardboard. As if steak is left on the grill then load it with sauce Drinks were on point. But sadly. We will no longer come to Jungle Braii. Was a fab place to go to..sorry.

This was supposed to be my fathers day treat but i ended up paying so you might as well call it happy parental day. Service was good Lamb chops were not good at first but replaced very kind of them tbh

It's a shame this place has really gone down hill. I went to have dinner on Saturday night with some friends and ordered the mixed grill platter. A lot of the red meat had a horrible smell like it was off. My friend was unlucky to be the first to bite into it and taste how bad it was. The chicken was slightly undercooked as well. The waiter refused to believe us that the meat was and said we serve this to everyone no one complained. After we finished we spoke to the manager at the till and he was also very rude, unapologetic and refused to accept that he served us bad meat. We even made him smell one of the pieces of chop. Last time I'll be visiting this place.

Went here with a friend but we had to leave. The tables were dirty, there were left over rice in the kitchen. The kitchen top & sink were full of dirty pots, dishes etc not a pleasant experience at all. We didn't stay we wanted to try Brazilian restaurant but this was disappointing 😕

Went to a branch years ago on brick lane and loved everything. Was gutted to hear that they had shut. Very pleased to now know that there is another branch and glad that the service and quality of the meals is still as I remember it.

Their website is a complete rubbish! We placed an order for delivery and got the confirmation at 18:18:12 (The silly website's time is wrong as well)and they said the order will be delivered by 19.03 . The order ref was WEB20220328AF64EE. The delay is not notified to us by them... We are a regular customer , very disappointing! Guys your food is great, needs to improve service.

Do yourself a favour and avoid! Have a look at the pictures. 55 pounds for this mess. "Handmade and fresh" Hunters Beef sausage? Nothing handmade or fresh about it. Looks like it was forgotten about in a freezer for 2 years. Everything, including the hot dog bun, was burnt. The burgers were tough as old boots, one came with a fatty piece of turkey, the other with an egg that was simultaneously burnt on the bottom and raw on top. The J Braai Special Chili chips were thrown about in chip shop chilli sauce and given a shake of premade fried onions out a plastic shaker. 5 quid for the pleasure of this "special" . The fries and onion rings are supermarket own brand tat. The icing on the cake was the dirty tables left uncleared for the duration of our hour long visit, with staff members milling around doing a whole lot of nothing.

We work away all week every week. We look got good food places every night. Literally stumbled upon this place. What a cracking cracking chicken place focussed on grilled food. Highly recommend. Don’t go for the extreme hot though 😂🙈🙈best food we have had in a good whole. Thank you jungle peri peri guys 👊

The food was good & reasonably priced. However the service left alot to be desired. Myself & my friend went there for lunch. We were told we would have to wait 15 mins for lunch. We ordered a whole peri peri chicken, two sides & two soft drinks. BTW We were the only customers in the shop. No take away orders were being prepared. Half an hour later lunch arrived. It was tasty. However both myself & my friend had things to do. As a consequence we had to rush our meal. One of the staff members was arguing loudly in urdu re a debt that he did not want to pay. This defeated I to threats & swearing. Customers do not want to hear this. On finishing our meal & attempting to pay, I was told to be "Patient". Even though the kitchen was quiet. I have worked in customer service. I was not happy. Hence 4/5 review. Feedback would be nice.

Chicken steak always bangs. Grilled wings 10/10

It's not the best. It's okay. Avoid the steak if you don't want to be disappointed. If you expect a juicy steak. You will not get that at all, rather random cut of flank, thinly cut and over done Starters were okay, a bit heavy on the sauce.

Foods great but customer service terrible. The waiter had his earphones In and was so grumpy. From the beginning he just literally threw the menus to us and walked off. Every time we tried to ask him something he was acting so strange.

This place is always a hit . Food is always consistent . The rack of of chops are amazing and the chicken salad is to die for . Grilled Chicken is always succulent and moist .

Lovely, relaxing setting, nice food

Ordered 3 people platter, two east London Burgers, wings and mocktales. The drinks were very refreshing. The platter consisted of whole chicken which was very nice. The chops however was very disappointing glazed with cheap bbq sauce lacked flavour. Also the ribeye was overcooked and was just chewie meat. The burgers was really nice and juicy. The worst part was the waiter standing next to the table (1m away) and looking at me while I was eating. This should not be happening! Didn’t even ask if my drink or foods was finished before taking away. My glass still had drink, the waiter decided himself I had enough. :( I had to share a glass with someone else on my table.

Been coming here for years never fail with the food. Only down fall is there is no card payments allowed..

- Not greeted by anyone upon entry - had to try (really hard) and find someone to serve me. - Called in advance to make a booking, they said no need, but upon arrival, had no space apart from at the front, where it was cold and full of uber eats drivers. I had two kids with me so the seating was not sufficient, nor did they have high chairs available. These are issues I wanted to avoid which is why I wanted to book. - Staff seemed apathetic to any concerns raised. - I realised this would not be a good experience or way to spend my money, the staff seemed more concerned about the drivers than paying seated customers and I realised that this was no place to spend my money, so left for sahara grill which was the complete opposite in terms of attentive customer focused experience and was great. I cannot comment on the food as the initial experience was so poor I did not want to spend my money there. I would not recommend this place for kids or for a comfortable relaxing eating experience.

Texture of food was surprisingly good, but lacked any real flavour on the chicken, beef or lamb. The best part of my meal was the onion rings and garlic bread which i could have easily made at home in my own oven and saved alot of money. Wouldn't recommend to go for an occasion. If i was in the area and hungry i might go there otherwise look somewhere else.

Extremely disappointed with the customer service. No one was available to take the order, I had to call the waiter who was on his mobile phone talking in his language, asked me to wait to take the order. Had two babies on the highchair, when the waiter brought the food to the table he was so inconsiderate of the babies. He left got food right in front of them. When telling him, he still continued to leave the hot food near the babies. No manners whatsoever!!!!

Worst customer service ever! Not sure how they are still around, since management changed a while back their attitude and service has gone down the drain. Constantly get the orders wrong, either it’s wrong items made or something is missing in the order. There Are much better places to go to. Strongly recommend to only eat in and avoid any delivery or take away to avoid mistakes which can be rectified on site

The food was nice had the steak n chips which was really nice, but staff need to acknowledge customers, told me to take any seat then I had to get my own menu and look for him to order, then had to get a container to put my food in for takeaway then look for a bag, other than that it was okay. But customer acknowledgement is key 🔑

This place used to be something decent. Went fairly recently, place was empty but most tables hadn’t been cleaned. Still had plates from previous customers. The table we were shown to was unwiped and sticky. Ordered a rib eye steak in medium rare which came sliced in three, which leads me to believe they’re just using up random slabs of meat. All the steaks on our table were served like this, none were cooked as requested, all were well done. All the mojitos had brown mint leaf pieces. There was more brown than greenery… Mash was without a doubt pre-made, it was served to us in the same logs that it probably came in with the package. Bland and stale. Everything tasted a bit …tangy? Glanced into the kitchen, staff didn’t seem to have any gloves, hats etc. and it didn’t look particularly clean… If you’re looking for the Jungle Braii experience from 10+ years ago, that’s long gone. Oh and they don’t take card because of course they don’t 🙄 Don’t bother.
