We were looking for somewhere for lunch and this was the perfect choice. Although it is situated on a somewhat unglamorous parade, we ventured in and were treated by the presumed owner to a most hospitable meal and drinks. He gave sensible and genuine advice as to what we might like to order and most certainly didn't disappoint. They do two brands of beer - one Eritrean (quite malty) and an Ethiopian one (hoppy, German style lager). St Gabriel's deserves to be in a more appealing area, but meanwhile it is very convenient for the Elephant branch of Southwark Playhouse.

I must have spent thousands at this place over the years. I go in there to be told they can’t cut any biltong because they’ve just cleaned the machine. Can’t spend even more money there just because some useless tool behind the counter wants to go home early. I’ll go elsewhere. This is clearly how they treat their regular customers now. Pathetic customer service.

Really sweet people here. Great if you want a different cultural experience. Sells South African groceries as well.

Now I do not claime to know anything about Ethiopian food, so thought the best way was to try some. What I had was a good mixture of flavours on one plate. Hot, a little spicy, and different textures. Like a lot of stalls, this one also had queues for the food. So be prepared to wait a bit.

I have been supporting Curious Roo since they were a little stall at Ealing Broadway shopping centre where I would buy drinks and coffe beans from but unfortunately today was my last visit as I left completely upset and disappointed. My past two visits to the shop in Ealing to buy 1kg of coffee beans (which is a much bigger purchase than just a latte), I was served by the same person behind the till, a tall guy who made me feel absolutely worthless. For context, I am neurodivergent and I was wearing my sunflower lanyard in both occasions which states my disability and how that affects me, hoping that people would be understanding and inclusive. On 3rd January afternoon, I picked up a bag of coffee and headed over to the till to pay and due to my condition I talk a lot and ask questions, the shop was quiet and this person was very short with me as in making me stop talking so I finished paying and left, very upset and feeling bad about being the way I am. Today 28th January I needed another 1kg bag of coffee beans and as I walked in I saw him behind the till and I got extremely anxious, picked up the coffee bag and stood in front of of the till whilst he was chatting with someone at the end of the counter and a couple walked in and were choosing their drinks, the person immediately walked towards them, ignored me and started taking their order whilst I stood there with the bag of coffee that I just needed to pay. I had to interrupt and ask to pay for the bag and then he said I should join the queue and the people behing me who were behind me who were annoyed and uncomfortable said I could go first. Again I left absolutely devastated struggling to breathe with anxiety. Curious Roo is allegedly an inclusive company but I felt extremely discriminated by this particular member of the team and I believe this person needs some sort of mental health and neurodivergence training and how their actions can affect people’s lives and ruin their days. Even if I wanted I would not be able to enter the shop again because it would trigger me a lot of distress and anxiety. There are plenty of more inclusive cafes around the area, if you are neurodivergent, have mental health problems or disabilities you might not be treated well by this person there, which is a shame because everyone else is lovely.

I order from here regularly now, the food is great. They have a bunch or sauces made in house and all the food is super fresh and really tasty.

Este lugar es genial! Realmente buena comida a un precio estupendo. Siempre nos dan una carne, un vegetal (la única opciones de menú) y siempre hizo a la perfección.
