I am disappointed the food is no test and the restaurant smells bad and mice come out from the kichen i recommended not to eat

Lovely food, we had the Agelgil Special on Sunday evening 11th of Feb and my wife and I really enjoyed it very much! The lady who served us very friendly and you can feel that she is trying to make you comfortable. Thumbs up!!

Oh lord, where do I start. It’s hard to make catastrophic choices in London, but this was one. In retrospect, the fact that the entire restaurant was full of obnoxious hipsters should have given it away, but alas it was too late. For context, whilst not a connoisseur, I am fairly well acquainted with Ethiopian food, and there are some wonderful places to get it in London. Wanting to broaden our choices, and following the incredible reviews online (as mentioned, the public we found there explains this) we decided to come give it a try. Long story short because I feel a bit unwell: service - absent minded. Food: luke warm, chewy, probably the cheapest meat available in the western hemisphere, but most shockingly, the tiniest portions I’ve ever seen in my life outside haute cuisine. When the food was brought out I thought it was a joke. My estimate is 50 grams of meat per person tops. We ate this feast with a backdrop of the others diners shouting about how “East London is just not a thing”. Imagine the Greek tragedy this was. I am really sorry I have absolutely nothing positive to report.

First experience of Ethiopian food. So many different and delicious flavours. A really enjoyable, good value meal. Would definitely go again.

We had a good time in Agelgil Restaurant. We try the vegan one that was awesome. The stuff was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend for others.

Ordered the yetesom beyaynetu (vegetarian) which was delicious, especially the misir wat (spicy red lentils). Owner was kind and friendly and made me feel at home.

Delicious Ethiopian food with a friendly home cooked feel. For my first visit I had Kitfo (Beef) & Ye Beg Wot (Lamb) and Yetesom Beyanetu (vegetarian platter) with homous & samubus as starters. Portions were generous and good value, we were stuffed! On my second visit we had the mixed platter which had a variety of meat, lentil & vegetable dishes served on Injera. Everything was great, especially the lamb awaze tibs & beef Kitfo! We had Azifa (green lentil stew) as a starter and some Tej (honey wine) to drink. Went down a treat after a hearty walk of the Seven Sisters cliffs from Seaford to Eastbourne!

Nice delicious food with good service. I recommend every one to came here and enjoy and test of an Ethiopian traditional food .

We were looking for somewhere local to the Pleaseance for a pre-theatre meal with friends and could not have found a better restaurant. It ticked every box. The service was friendly, the Ethiopian beers delicious, and the food was fantastic. Extremely reasonable and cooked from...
