Lovely buffet with delicious food for a great price. Host was friendly and welcoming and the interior is nicely decorated. Especially recommended is the spinach and chicken. Good choice for a cheap tasty meal with something different.

I've visited Zigni House a number of times over the years and it's never disappointed me or any of the people I've gone there with. It's a really authentic family run place - everything home cooked by the owner (who will come up to meet you if you're lucky) - it'll be a sad day when she retires!Typical Eritrean food - served on a massive platter with injera bread that you use to mop up all the different dollops of stew-y style food (with your hands). Go for the plaintain chips to start, obviously the platter, and try the honey wine (home made and delicious). It's sad to see that the place isn't busier, but don't let it put you off - you'll be treated like royalty as a result. Also, ignore any reviews complaining that the service is slow - it's slow because it's all cooked fresh from scratch - can't argue with that!

This was my first time in this restaurant and I thought from the pictures that I had seen, that the food would be close to Turkish cuisine. I was so wrong. The food is exquisite, tasty, spicy, mild and homely. The decor is good and the background music is lively. I will be back at the end of the month for a small social get-to-gether again. I am so looking forward to more delicious food.

A group of four of us visited the restaurant on a weekday evening and were the only people there the whole time. This would usually have been off-putting, but there was some great music playing and we had a good catch-up.Considering there was no-one else there, service was incredibly slow. However, the food was worth the wait and luckily we weren't in a rush.We ordered a variety of dishes which were brought out individually then dished out onto a sour pancake spread over a giant tray. I've never been to Eritrea but it seemed authentic and the food was all delicious. The waitress also modified our order slightly so that we had four dishes that worked well together - I would have been annoyed if it had been a favourite dish but I guess she knew what she was doing!Would recommend for small groups of friends to make the most of sharing.

Me and HelBel love this place. We always order the mixed platter (with no broccolli!) and it is a bargain. A huge sour pancake (injera) with lots of different piles of delicious things to mop up (and extra pancakes round the edge). They are always willing to bring more if needed. The stews and curries are delicious. The last bit when all you have is soaked pancake is great too! Have an Ethiopian beer to wash it down.We have never failed to enjoy it and the lady who runs the place is lovely.

I stumbled across this place by accident years ago, and I'm so glad I did. The food is so tasty, even for someone new to Ethiopean food, like I was. The curries go so well with the wot traditional bread - but my favourite is the beef tibits; so spicy and delicious. I've been with vegetarian friends and they are always happy with the many options available. Its fun if you like sharing a large plate with friends - who are comfortable enough to eat with their hands in traditional style. Now that the place has been redecorated, I hope to see more customers there. The lady owner is so sweet and welcoming - and in the summer, I look forward to using the large outdoor patio area with barbecue!! Planning my next trip now.

Zigni house has a family atmosphere, with warmth and friendliness from the chef who came to our table explain the dishes, to the waiter, who served with great enthusiasm. We had the large vegetarian platter for two, which was outstanding. It is clear that the food is freshly cooked, and each vegetable was spiced in a particular and unique way. Colorful woven baskets and crafts decorate the room, and the music is lovely. We will be back!

I enjoyed my meal at Zigni house. The food was delicious - spicy lamb stew served on a light pancake was my main course. Very filling. I had also had a starter with lentils and pancake so it made for too much in the end, but it was all delicious. Friendly service, and safe ambiance for solo female diners.

Just got home from Zigni House. I've never tried Eritrean food before, but I was rather curious and have always wanted to eat with my hands, only with the help of an injera. The decoration and the atmoshphere of the restaurant was warm, simple and not pretentious at all. We've had an amazing service, with the staff smiling at all times. My boyfriend had a chicken stew, while I opted for a plate with lentils. It was just fresh, delicious and felt like a meal cooked at home. I'd recommend the place to anyone as it has a big variety of dishes, extremely nice staff and an atmosphere that is highly appreciated on a rainy day in London.

My husband and I are regulars at Zigni, and the reasons are very simple: the food is fresh and delicious, the service wonderful, the value really great. Eritrean food is one of the best in the world in my opinion, and at Zigni it gets cooked wonderfully. The injera, the bread on which food is served, is very tasty on its own, but when you use it to actually pick up your food, and gets soaked in the wonderful juices of the curries or the salads, that's the real thing. If you feel adventurous, try kifto, which is marinated mince meat, and can be served raw on request. It seemed terribly weird to me the first time my friends ordered it, but I have come back to it ever since. What makes the place special, though, are the smiling faces of the owner and her daughter, they always make us feel welcome and looked after. Can not recommend this place enough.

This was my first Eritrean meal. The food was great, as I'd been led to expect. But the two outstanding surprises were the home made honey wine (brewed on the premises for four months apiece, with nothing but Eritrean honey, hops and water. A beautiful, light citrus wine like nothing I'd tried previously. Much more refreshing than British mead), and the traditional coffee. The coffee beans were roasted from fresh, the smoking pan brought out for us to smell, and then ground and boiled with a little cardamon. I'm an artisanal coffee fan, but this had a deep rich mellowness quite beyond anything I've had previously. If only they were open in the mornings!

This was my first Eritrean / Ethiopian restaurant since visiting Eritrea a few years ago. I also read earlier reviewers on a number of websites which had given mixed reviews. I tihnk there has been a change of ownership since then as the service was prompt, as well as friendly! The only problem is that they told us their card machine was not working when they gave us the bill. Still!Atmosphere was good and there is an Eritrean theme to the decor and the music was from the area. The menu was properly explained and we ordered chicken. lamb stew and chickpeas which was served on Injera bread. I have to confess that I cannot get on with injera and this was my last try. It's rice next time! I have tried it a few dozen times, made with Tef rather than wheat but it doesn't work for me. But the quality of the three dishes was very good

Ethiopian food is not conventional, especially if you come from France. This was good (fruity flavors, not too spicy, excellent Ethiopian bread, …) and not too expensive, For 5 dinner, wine included, we paid 64£. The welcome was warm. I feel that we could have been served a little bit more quickly, but it's probably the sign that the food was prepared when we ordered it, and not some frozen food. We can not say that the room was cozy, but it was clean and decorated with Ethiopian craft.
