We ate there by chance and we were happily surprised. We had vegetarian dishes with injera and it was all very fresh and tasty. The person serving was very helpful and helped us choose the dishes.

Whilst spending a week in West Brompton with work I researched local places to eat that were more exciting and authentic than getting a burger in a pub. I found Ghion searching for local vegan options so wandered along and decided to get a take away as I don’t like dining alone. The smell from the kitchen was amazing so I knew the food would be flavoursome and not disappoint. I opted for the veggie platter which consisted of 4 elements and the injera which was humongous! My favourite was the yellow lentil section, the red lentil type dish had a spicy kick, not sure of the name of the greens and veg but it was tasty. One portion filled me up and I had left overs and lots of injera spare to eat later. Highly recommended.

Criminals, I forgot my backpack on a C10 bus and the thief went to this place where he must have relatives because he tried to use my card more than 10 times, this establishment helps criminals commit crimes, I want my backpack back, I'm walking through London doesn't leave Italy to come and get robbed in London, tomorrow I'm going to send my friend to the store and I want my backpack back. Otherwise I will go to the police to take action.

Delicious Ethiopian food. In the picture is their platter which is 25 pounds and was more than enough food for two hungry people. I definitely recommend having the platter, so you can try many of the dishes. Each and every one of them was very delicious. They have great vegetarian and vegan options.

Cafe Ghion was originally recommended to me by an Ethiopian colleague, I've now been several times and it has never disappointed: the food here is outstanding! The menu has a wide variety of dishes - some familiar, some less familiar - and the owner is exceptionally welcoming, ready to explain all of the options, give recommendations and tell you more about the culture and history of Ethiopia. Portions are generous and they have no issues with you taking leftovers home either! Eating here is a wonderful experience. Dishes I'd recommend are Ghion tibs, doro wot and shiro wot, and the kategna starter is also excellent. My friends also recommend the various vegetarian options. Make sure you try the traditional coffee too. I can't recommend this place enough!

I came here with my friend for dinner. We are both vegetarian and we couldn’t have been happier with our meal. Everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere, the flavours, the service and the general concern for our well being was so appreciated. I would highly recommend!

I was there recently for lunch. The management claimed that they had a refurbishment and so all prices were much higher. The food was good but very basic in presentation. No sides or salads come with the mains and for the price I paid I could have gone to a Turkish place for a better deal. Condiments and cutlery were not provided or offered to customers. I had to ask for extra paper and was given only one piece. Hospitality wasn't great. Cafe was clean and seating feels comfortable. The music from the TV was extremely loud. Price was too much for a portion-main that was too big for one person/ lunch. Menu prices were too expensive for a average cafe.

I used to live down the road from the Ghion Cafe and I absolutely loved the food. I’d never had Ethiopian cuisine previously but I’m definitely a convert. I really like the Ethiopian pancakes (injera) and my fave dish was the veggie combo (how do they make lentils so tasty?). They also had a spicy tomato side salad which was great. The traditional coffee was really good too, not something I’d tried previously but it had a great flavour. Can’t wait to visit again!

My entire group (of 5) very much enjoyed all the food. The waitress was extremely helpful and personable, and helped us put together an order of a wide variety of dishes that would please everyone. And they did. Although I think this restaurant could "hold its own" against just about any other Ethiopian restaurant -- I have eaten dozens of meals, in many different Ethiopian restaurants, not only in DC but elsewhere -- I think the real standout here was the waitress. Simply super.

I've sampled four Ethiopian restaurants in london so far and this is by far the best value for money. The food is very authentic (I've lived in ethiopia), the service incredibly friendly and the prices more reasonable than what you get in north London. I'm definitely coming back.

Between two of us we ate Awaze Tibs - a spicy lamb and onion stew and Yesome Beyaynetu , 4 different vegetable dishes. They were served on a platter of injera bread with more injera bread on the side. The idea is to share the food. You use the injera bread to scoop up bite size portions of food and at the end you can eat the injera bread the food was resting on which has soaked up the juices from the food. The service was prompt and friendly. We paid £20.00 for the two dishes and two large bottles of sparkling water. It is probably not a late night restaurant as we were told the chef left at 9.00. We will definitely go back.

Far and away my favourite place to eat in London, great food and service every time. In a city with every cuisine in the world this place stands out as authentic and true to its roots. I can honestly say that i discovered new flavours here and have been a fan of Ethiopian food ever since. Only warning is not to go here if you're looking for an extravagant sit down meal, this place is all about relaxing with a brilliant dish.

Ghion is as exotic as its Biblical name suggests, but to enjoy the cuisine, one must have a strong palate for spices! Ethiopian spices are quite different from Indian ones, but even so, my eyes and nose were running from the onset of my main chicken and egg dish.I was presented with a large plate bearing an enjera – the traditional baked Ethiopian sourdough pancake and it was suggested that I use my fingers to pick up the stew with the bread. I can normally do so when eating Indian curries, but on this occasion, my nose needed too much attention, so I opted for a spoon instead.Ghion takes its name from a place west of Addis Abbaba, where several waterfalls merge into a river (the Blue Nile – Biblical Ghion). A large plasma TV screen on the crimson wall entertains one with rural scenes of Ethiopian folk dancing as you eat. I loved the other wood panelled walls giving the place a feeling of warmth and also the beautiful parquet floor tiles.Expensive framed art for sale adorns the walls and a corner has been set aside for the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, where the lady of the house invites all her friends round for a lengthy coffee session and the latest gossip, 2 or 3 times a day!The restaurant itself was packed with a party of Ethiopian ladies celebrating the birthday of a child, as well as the regular male diners. The price of my meal, washed down by Keshir tea (high in antioxidants) was a reasonable £7.70. And the service could not have been more attentive, with the Maître d’ calling for the owner’s brother to come and assist me with questions on Ethiopia. Where could one feel more at home in the busy Metropolis of London, than here in busy Fulham!!!

I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the young lady Farhiya and the gentleman (possibly the owner?) who went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. This review is a few weeks late, but I felt compelled to share. We had a toddler with us who, as toddlers do, made a bit of a mess. Both of these staff members handled the situation with such kindness and grace. They not only cleaned up quickly but even moved us to a different spot, turning a stressful moment into one where we felt completely comfortable and welcomed. Their warmth and understanding truly meant a lot to us, and we couldn’t be more grateful. On top of that, the overall atmosphere of this restaurant is fantastic. It has a genuine, family-like vibe, with everyone smiling and creating such a lovely environment. The space was immaculate, the service was quick, and the food was absolutely top-notch. Huge thanks to the entire team—you can tell everyone here works together to make it special!

We had the ‘Vegetarian (vegan) Combo’ - with a variety of vegan dishes served on a platter of Injera (Ethiopian traditional stable bread). Absolutely delicious! We had a great experience at Flamingo - great atmosphere & environment - followed by excellent service - and great value for our food! Definitely recommend!
