Possibly the best sushi spot in Manchester. Not only was the food great but the service was unbelievable. Food was very nice and arrived quickly. They really make you feel at home and the owner and all the staff were very friendly and hospitable. 10/10 and shout out to Queen Sky.

Food was okay. Chicken gyoza was okay, the wrapping of the gyoza was kind of dry. Tempura prawns was decent nothing special. I tried a mixture of the uramaki rolls, they were nice but again nothing special and definitely not worth the price. The tables are also too close together, you can hear everyone's conversation and there's not really privacy and it's uncomfortable. The dessert however was absolutely disgusting, you can't even call it a dessert, I forgot the name but it was 2 tiny dry dumplings with a mango filling inside and cocoa powder on top with the most frozen ice cream ever, it was so frozen that there was ice literally inside and on the ice cream ball still. It was all tasteless, I also ordered 2 of the same desserts and they only gave 1 and then proceeded to add 2 desserts to my bill when I only received 1 so I let them know and they took 1 dessert off. Bad service. Dessert was atrocious and dry and the portion was tiny, I'm glad I ended up only receiving 1 of that dessert. And at the end there was a service charge which was nearly £6???? That is stupidity, they can't even serve or get orders or the bill right first of all. Service charge shouldn't be there at all, it's not a fancy special place with great customer service. Their service charge is also more expensive than most good restaurants. The price at the end was not worth it at all and it didn't fill me up or leave me satisfied. Spend your money elsewhere as I spent around £60 for 2 people to not feel full.

Had an absolutely amazing time at Zumuku for my birthday! Staff were so helpful and very kind. Food was divine. A special thank you to Queen Sky, she made me and my friends whole night. Couldn’t fault absolutely anything as they even include veg/vegan options! Highly recommend.

A Bit of a Mix-Up at Zumuku Sushi Popped into Zumuku Sushi with a couple of families yesterday, lured in by some smashing online reviews. Our party was made up of three families - mine with two adults and a little one, and two other families each with one adult and two kiddos. We fancied the Omakase Happy Sushi Box for our lot, while the other families ordered a variety of dishes, one of them being the Spider Futomaki. When the Happy Box came out, we were chuffed to bits with the presentation - served with dry ice, it was a proper spectacle. But then, we hit a bit of a snag that put a damper on the evening. Turns out, the restaurant had gone and put one of the other family's Spider Futomaki in our Happy Box without so much as a word. So, we ended up scoffing down their order while they were left twiddling their thumbs, waiting for grub that had already been served. When we asked about the missing Spider Futomaki, the staff told us it had been tucked into our box. This meant we were left footing the bill for extra food we hadn't asked for, and the other family had to reorder their food, all on an empty stomach. The restaurant did apologise for the muddle, but they didn't offer anything to make up for the cock-up. It was a bit of a letdown, especially as we were all out for a good time. So, despite the top-notch presentation and glowing online reviews, our visit to Zumuku Sushi was a bit of a mixed bag due to this service blunder. Here's hoping they take this on the chin and tighten up their communication and order handling to avoid such mix-ups in the future.

We visited Zumuku on a busy Saturday night, safe to say the place was bustling and the staff were working very hard. I believe the restaurant had been closed the night before due to a car accident that had damaged the front, and therefore they were understaffed, however, staff members from other branches appeared and although some mistakes were made Ed and Andy were absolutely wonderful and the staff provided excellent service, making sure we were taken care of and fixing issues as they arose! Zumuku should be proud of their staff and service!

always looking for new places to eat in and around manchester, and this restaurant did not disappoint. genuinely one of the best food places i have ever been. went for the unlimited menu and left very full. the sushi here is amazing and the hot plate foods such as the teriyaki or udon noodles 11/10 !!! will be coming here again, and would recommend it anyone in and around the area

Se enteró que la señora que siempre nos da el mejor servicio está embarazada. Estaba trabajando, pero no era la única. Había otros tres hombres con ella, supongo que el de la chaqueta azul es el gerente. La pobre señora estaba haciendo todo el trabajo, cargando platos pesados y sirviendo cada mesa que había allí. Por dentro y por fuera y manejando la comida sola. Fue desgarrador ver a una mujer muy embarazada haciendo todo por sí misma mientras el personal masculino estaba hablando entre sí. Se acercó a nuestra mesa para ver si queríamos más bebidas a las que cortésmente declinamos porque no queríamos que trabajara tanto como ya lo hacía. Incluso se quedó sin aliento mientras hablaba con nosotros. Mi novio me preguntó si estaba bien, nos dijo que estaba bien, pero sabíamos que no. Nos quedamos a comer postres y para nuestra consternación los hombres comenzaron a sentarse juntos a almorzar, mientras la señora seguía rompiendo mesas. Me levanté para ir al baño y realmente quería decir algo, pero no quería que la señora se metiera en problemas. La comida era buena, pero siempre volvemos por su servicio, ya que ella ha sido la que nos ha cuidado, simplemente sentimos escribir un comentario sobre esto porque siento que hay algún tipo de trato injusto hacia ella. Solo quiero señalar a la dirección y a la empresa, que cuiden a su personal ya que son ellos los que mantienen el negocio funcionando. Somos clientes leales a Zumuku Didsbury y hemos estado desde el cierre, este servicio de señora nunca nos falló y siempre nos cuida bien, espero que ella sea atendida. I've ordered food on deliveroo form here often and it's normally fine. Today it was disgusting , and worrying . This is the chicken that was in the chicken cha han I had to spit it out because it tasted off. Was also incredibly dry chewy, actually awful had to chuck the whole thing away as chicken really did not taste fresh, tasted like the meat was on the turn . Just absoloutly gross lumps of meat Kimchee also not right completely , just doesn't taste like kimchee. Pieces as crunchy . Never getting food from here again what a total disappointment and waste of money gone downhill

Hemos estado aquí muchas veces y vinimos esta noche para el cumpleaños de mi hijo. El restaurante estaba medio lleno y nos costó conseguir que alguien tomara nuestro pedido. La comida tardó mucho en llegar y el sushi de mi hija tuvo que ser perseguido y llegó tan tarde después de la otra comida que se molestó. La comida era buena, pero está claro que ahora se da prioridad a la comida para llevar / deliveryoo, ya que estaban citando tiempos de entrega de 30 minutos en el teléfono y en - restaurantes estándares de servicio se han deslizado. A pesar de que anteriormente era uno de los favoritos, lo pensaremos dos veces antes de volver a ir.

I ordered the food online but the pick up time was wrong, it was ready at 2pm and I can only go there at 6pm. I tried to ring, email and even send a fb message to let them know about the pick up time, but there was no reply from any means f communication. I went there at 6pm and the staff was very friendly, they took me they had it prepared a long time ago so they will prepare my food again. I understood it is a mistake I made but the staff handled it and have it taken care of. The food was fresh and very good, I will definitely come back again.

Leaving a review to say how helpful and attentive the staff were!!! Especially the American worker and the guy with long hair (sorry I didn't get anyone's names)! It was our first time trying sushi and staff gave us recommendations and were so beyond accommodating with us not wanting raw fish/alcohol in soy sauce and helping us with halal choices. 10/10 service. Katsu was also delicious too!

Went during a promotional period, understandably it will be busy but they were not prepared whatsoever. Waited over an hour for food and it wasnt even in the process of being prepared, as a result we ended up leaving. I witnessed a table get shouted at and told to wait, for asking how long their food would be. Numerous tables who were waiting before me still had no food, however there were Deliveroo orders flying out of the kitchen. This is at Didsbury location

Good vibes and conveniently located. There's lots of Zumuku/Zumus in Manchester but would say it's better than a standard chain sushi restaurant. We visited the one in Didsbury for a friend's birthday. The staff are super friendly, the atmosphere is nice, but unfortunately the food let's it all down. I appreciate it was a busy night and that we were a big table, but our food took quite a long time to come out - hot food that other people ordered was coming out much quicker than our sushi. We ordered the 60 piece omakase to share between two and we were the last ones to eat. Upon arriving at our table, the server poured water into a small container which had dry ice in it and I assume it was supposed to create a fun foggy effect, but instead it actually drowned the sushi as she must have poured too much water in the dish. The sushi itself was also quite disappointing which was surprising as we'd been to Zumuku many times (but in Worsley) and always had a good experience. The rice was too soft and the fish didn't taste fresh either. Quite expensive for a disappointing meal.

Terrible experience. Ordered a takeaway. Was sent chicken instead of tofu. I am vegan and have several intolerances. We called the restaurant twice and both times they hung up on us. Booked for a larger group on a Friday as we'd been before and really enjoyed the food and knew they'd be large enough to accommodate a group. We arrive all fine, order initial drinks and I request water for the table anticipating we'd want it while we eat. We notice drinks are taking a fair while to arrive but assumed it might have been as they were waiting for more of our party to arrive. Food ordered and arrives, all the ordered sushi came on one platter which was quite disappointing for people with dietary requirements to have fish sushi touching vegan sushi but we made do and got over it. Hot food takes a further half hour to come after the sushi so most of us have already finished by the time others food arrived, were understanding, they're obviously made differently by different people While we're eating drinks are still taking a ridiculous length of time, over half an hour for rounds of 3-4 drinks, no sign of the water. We ask two more times for water. The water arrives over 90 minutes after I initially asked. 90 percent of us, had finished eating and I could see the waiters face reflecting this as he put water glasses out for people who no longer really needed them. All this to say, for a Friday night, the restaurant was half empty the whole time we were there. It was perfectly conceivable that 4-5 service staff could have absolutely handled how many people they were serving as well as our large table. Disappointing as the food is really great but I think in future we'll just order takeaway if at all Only reason I didn't request the service charge to be removed is because we were a large group but if the smaller tables experienced the same, I'd like to think they requested it to be removed

We visited zumuku wilmslow and we sat on the balcony upstairs. The weather was very helpful and the atmosphere with the music just takes you somewhere else. We ordered wines and poké bowls and a selection of uramaki’s. Everything was perfect!

So glad I picked this place for my friend's birthday yesterday! Our server was absolutely lovely - he was from the States and had red hair (pls give this guy a raise) - and he was so attentive but also just very lovely and really friendly. The food was great and the presentation of it all was amazing. We were so impressed with the way everything came and we will definitely be coming back. For what you get & the quality the prices were super reasonable and they were also really great with dealing with my allergy. 10000% recommend.

Last evening, my friends and I visited Zumuku Didsbury, looking forward to a delightful dinner. Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. We endured an exasperating wait of nearly three hours for our food and drinks to arrive. The service began to falter when it took 45 minutes for our soft drinks to be served, followed by a 20-minute delay for two out of three main courses to be presented. The third main course, which belonged to my friend, was not only served 20 minutes later but was also incorrect. Upon addressing the issue, the waiter offered the incorrect dish “on the house” while the correct order was supposedly being prepared. However, after an additional 30 minutes, the food was still missing. Inquiring about the meal resulted in the shocking revelation that the order had never been placed with the kitchen. The culmination of these service failures prompted us to request the bill immediately. To our dismay, we discovered that both the mochi balls—assumed to be a compensatory gesture—and the prawn katsu curry were included on the bill. Despite our efforts to resolve the matter and speak to the manager, we were met with refusal and no apology. The lack of accountability and customer care displayed by the management was disheartening. It is with regret that I must say, due to the egregious service errors and the absence of any sincere apology, I cannot envision returning to Zumuku Didsbury. Customer service is paramount, and unfortunately, it was severely lacking during our visit.

We’d had a few deliveries from here in the past and always thought delivery to be very fast and food of a nice quality and good flavours. However, on dining in on a Saturday evening we have said we’ll never go back in person. It’s evident that deliveries take priority. There’s no point making a reservation as this was not kept to. Everyone is just piling in through the door and no system in place. If you’re not confident enough to make your way forward and find someone to speak to you could well be stood there all evening. We were finally sat down 30 minutes after our original reservation time and no reservations were checked, people being sat before us without even saying they had a reservation. We were asked amongst us waiting who was first, relied upon people being genuine, despite a lot of customers trying to jump in front. Once finally sat, the wait to order our food wasn’t too bad. However, food took a while to come and it was disappointing just watching how many dishes were stacking up on the kitchen’s pass and not reaching the tables empty of food. I’ve no idea where the servers were, but they were rarely on the dining room floor with customers. No one once asked us how the food was and we were constantly having to flag someone down if needing anything else throughout the dining experience. We noticed this amongst all other customers as well. The food itself is really nice and nicely presented. Good quality of food for the price! Also had to challenge the bill as they had charged a 250ml glass of wine price against a 175ml glass of wine, and it even said on the bill “175ml” - make sure to double check the pricing of what you’ve ordered. Would have given 2 stars overall based on service, but have increased to 3 due to the food being good and having good delivery experiences prior.

Had an amazing time celebrating my mum’s birthday. It was our first time visiting the Didsbury brunch and i can easily say will not be the last! The food was fresh, the presentation was fantastic and the star of the night was the staff who made us feel very welcome! Got a take away from here and the chips actually kept super well - flavour was good - I ordered sarracha mayonnaise but got sweet chilli - my only and pretty big concern was spending 20 pounds in bao buns that had not enough fillings, 1/3 of my bao bun was eaten without any meat or veggies. Apart from that it was all great. My husband had 4 rounds of sushi that he also enjoyed. If they filled the baos more I’d be back A LOT! And with 5 stars.

Visited with someone who has coeliac so fully gluten free food and prep required. Called the restaurant in advance who confirmed they had a gluten free menu and were able to cater to coeliac requirements. On arrival we were given the gluten free menu (photo attached) but when ordering we were advised none of the hot food was gluten free anymore and that the menu needed updating. Following ordering a waiver was brought to the table to sign (photo attached). Although I can understand why they have this, we’ve never been asked to do this before and it felt as though we were singled out for having a dietary requirement and almost made the person I was with concerned that having a waiver signed meant that they would take it less seriously. Staff were knowledgeable and the food was good. Just a shame we couldn’t have everything on the menu!

Zumuku sushi is the best sushi you will ever have. The overall dining experience is 10/10, especially in the Didsbury restaurant. The service is always amazing, I’ve had both Sky and Cristina serve me on multiple occasions and they always have a positive attitude and make everyone feel so welcome. The sushi is also such good quality and is presented beautifully. I highly recommend the Zumu special! Everyone I have recommended this restaurant to has also loved it! Hats off to the chef!

Absolutely disgraceful service. 4 consecutive takeaway orders where items were missing. I Had already made 2 complaints prior to the most recent order where assurances were made that "it wouldn't happen again". Today I rang up the restaurant and spoke to the latest manager Rhian/Rhianon who tried to pass blame on the deliverer, before realising it was yet another in-house mistake and then responded with a multitude of excuses followed by, and I quote, "there's nothing we can do" and "well, maybe you should order elsewhere in future then" to then be surprised as to why I became 'hostile'. I will be ordering elsewhere in future. Avoid.

Great experience today for my daughters Birthday. She got to try lots of new foods and the staff were all so accommodating for my partner who has gluten allergies. My daughter loved the togarashi fries and the house sauce. She is still talking about them now 😆

The sushi here is always fresh and well made. Very good value for the quality you get, soft rice, decent pieces of fish, well balanced flavours. I normally get take away and the chef's selection is fantastic, lots of variety and nicely presented.

Excellent Japanese food and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff was very polite. We had sushi meat (salmon), bao buns (chicken), uramaki (philadelphia, california). The dishes were exceptionally good. All meat is halal apart from Goyoza.

Good food, but everything was cold because no one was available to serve our dishes from the pass to the table until, someone from the kitchen decided to come out and do it himself. The only waitress that were there, i believe she’s called Rhian (she had a scarf on her head). It seemed like she didn’t want to be there that day. She disappeared from the restaurant floor for a good 20 minutes, while me and my wife was looking around for someone to serve our main courses. Apart from that kitchen guy, no one apologised and our waitress didn’t even checked on us, asking if everything was okay or not, she just seemed careless. The food was cold but we didn’t want to complain as we were late for a commitment, we just had what we’ve been served.

I’ve really enjoyed the experience at Zumuku Sushi. The food was truly exceptional. The flavours were fresh and vibrant, and each dish was fantastically prepared. food was nice and decent value, but the service was atrocious. drinks sat on the bar for 10 minutes, had to ask for cutlery, no one checked on us during our meal or afterwards, couldn't get attention to order second drinks or dessert, felt totally neglected and found it impossible to try and pay and leave. not sure if staff were too busy and therefore company needs to hire more people (it's Friday night at 8pm) or the staff just did not care at all - no chat no smiles no service.

Contrast to previous reviews, the service we experienced was absolutely awful. Perhaps it can be put down to just a “bad day at the office”, but the first two plates took over half an hour to come, and then each plate afterwards an additional 15-20 minutes each. The take a Gyoza/Nigiri was nice, nothing groundbreaking, however the chilli squid was way to battery. The chicken bao buns arrived with pink chicken, and the waitress advised she will change them to the beef bao buns free or charge (this was after we had to go in looking for a member of staff, on no one was doing any check backs to make sure the food was good). The beef bao buns then came out another 20 minutes later, which we then asked for the bill, and then asked for the bill again 15 minutes later as no one bothered to bring it out the first time. To our surprise, we had been charged for the beef bao buns despite being under the impression that “free of charge” usually means that they are free of charge - apparently not ? Upon querying this with the waitress, she bluntly replied “yes the beef bao buns are in the bill because you ate them”. Not going to lie they weren’t even nice and we only had them because they were supposedly “free of charge”. Knowing that if we were to start querying more and more we would just end up hanging around even longer due to the atrocious service, we reluctantly just paid the bill (which is way overpriced compared to the quality/quantity of the food). Won’t be returning here, the laxidazicleness of the staff and the extremely long wait on each plate (which we weren’t warned about prior to ordering) made a very unenjoyable experience. Nagoya a few doors down is much better.

I was pleasantly surprised by this excellent sushi joint. We had the sushi/avo tacos, shrimp nigiri, mixed sashimi, avo/salmon rolls, spicy tuna rolls, edamame beans & wakame salad. My favourite was the avo/salmon rolls, although I really enjoyed the sushi taco which was something I had never tried before. I think the taco was made of a deep friend wonton paper?! Innovative & delicious. The dishes were beautifully presented & full of flavour. The staff were kind and welcoming. We will be back!

The interior is very pretty, the background music fits and it’s not too loud. The food was good. I had the katsu curry chicken and chicken gyoza. The katsu curry was crispy, the rice was sticky and good to eat with chopsticks. The gyoza was also crispy and warm. Both tasted great. The crunchy california rolls were alright, nice, but not anything special. The service was not fantastic. The server seemed in a rush despite the place not being busy (we were the only people there). She snatched the menu off our hands as we were in the middle of ordering and walked off before we could asked for anything else. She also did not know how to split the bill and asked us to calculate it ourselves, that’s certainly never happened anywhere else I’ve been but ultimately a minor inconvenience. The pricing was alright, a little more expensive than it used to be but that’s the cost of living crisis for you. Overall, decent food, decent experience, less than average service. There’s better places to have sushi and Japanese food, so would not come again.

I didn’t eat in but the establishment looked very clean, nice and tidy! The girl that served me was so so so sweet, I asked her for her suggestion / favourite meal & if she could make it exactly how she would eat it (as a fellow hospo worker, I often hate these questions so I was prepared for any reaction) and she made it with a smile!! I’m sorry I didn’t get your name but you’re a credit to the team! & Thanks for the katsu-teriyaki salmon bowl lol xx
