Kokoro in Manchester

The shop are so dirty, crumps and source are everywhere. And I have ordered the curry chicken Udon , and the staff obviously forgot it and I have to wait more than 15 minutes! I see there are no teamwork among the coworkers. Please review any understaff situation !!!

The salmon teriyaki was delicious - a bit too sweet someone might say, but very good. The katsu curry was good. A bit disappointing that had just a couple of pieces of pepper in the bowl, more veggies would be preferable. And the edamame portion could be larger too, but overall I enjoyed it.

My first visit and definitely my last visit. Ordered this Bulgogi meal for £10.45 and it arrived without vegetables (red and green peppers etc. that was shown on the menu picture and confirmed with staff before placing order). Also the paper menu the staff showed me was not the updated price and I had to pay more than what staff showed me. I asked the staff where the vegetables were in my dish and they said every store serves differently and this time no vegetables for me. How can different stores serve the food differently if it’s all the same chain??

Is the absolutely slow service part of the experience?? Too bad, as the sushi is quite good, but I can't afford to wait 10 minutes to pay. Train your staff.

Ridiculous place. Food was half filled with water, onion SKIN inside. On top of that we were asked to clean the table after we got up to leave. (Tables were cleaned after other customers) Rude staff rushing you. Outrageous.

Absolutely appallingly slow service. Never visiting again.

The sushi tasted kind of "off"; I've had a lot of sushi from mid-range takeaway places, and this was by far the worst I've ever had. Supermarket sushi is better.

i was pleased with the chicken katsu but the sushi’s rice is not good, not enjoyable to eat. wouldn’t come back for the sushi.

Nice chicken, but we asked for katsu chicken with udon noodles. We were asked to wait for 5 minutes as we asked for one without spring onion. we eventually got our food, after watching other orders flying out of the door, but what we got was soggy chicken in a plain broth. There was nothing katsu about it. The one we asked for without spring onion still had the spring onion in, so a waste of time waiting. I will not return.

Excellent service very quick, amazing tasty food and portion sizes, would definitely come here again, best chicken katsu I’ve ever had :)

Small portions in comparison to the one in Leeds which I visit regular. Lots of rice little chicken, it a shame

Quick service. Excellent food, and I mean excellent. Easy location. Prices are reasonable. They could do with more seating. It's best to check you can sit before you buy. You can get takeaway too but I recommend the freshly made hot stuff. I don't think they take cash.

Really poor quality food and the service is terrible

Katsu prawn noodles were bland and not exactly flavourful, the food was heated in a Microwave. it filled an empty stomach but there are much better places for noodles at a similar price. My fiancée's Sushi on the other hand was quite nice.

Double charged my credit card. Bought seafood udon for 8.45gbp. Told by staff transaction did not go thru. Had to tap paywave. Again. Discovered 2/7 later credit card was charged twice for same amount. Sent email to them but no reply. Horrible experience and can’t pay by cash Which is prob better.just beware.

Long thick black hair rolled into the entire sushi roll. Order through delivery who did not help at all (they never do) the restaurant is not replying! The disgust resulted in throwing up.

Delicious katsu, breaded chicken, with katsu sauce and rice in a bowl. Their chickensweet sour was pretty decent too.

I’m a big fan of sushi and have tried varieties of decent sushi restaurants so I’m kinda disappointed with KOKORO’s sushi quality. I paid nearly £10 for a sushi lunch box but the thickness of salmon was unsatisfactory, the sushi rice was too soft, also not up to standard as well. It was a-okay for filling my stomach but not an enjoyable sushi experience. I’ve visited there twice, the second time I aimed for the hot food ‘cause why not be more lenient and gave it another try, perhaps it’s just the sushi that was put in the fridge maybe for a very long time hence tasted mediocre. Surprisingly, the two toppings I ordered (all chicken related) with generous amount of rice in the bowl were again very unpleasant to have a taste. But hey, at least they got plenty of spaces to sit and a good place to rest my legs after a long walk in the Manchester Arndale. I was too hangry and exhausted so no pics for the hot food lol

I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately the chicken I was served had lots of gristle in amongst the meat which immediately put me off the meal. The noodles and sauces were nice and the portion sizes were generous, but sadly after biting into too much gristle it put me off eating any more and the rest went in the bin. Such a shame as the staff were lovely.

There are halal options available. Payment by card only. I had the salmon teriyaki which is in a batter, and with rice , served in a large round tub. Salmon has skin on which I didn't like. Average taste nothing special. A selection of cold drinks available no hot drinks.

Staff were lovely but was left with an extremely poorly stomach after about 4-5 hours after having vegetable noodles that were heated up in a microwave

Mixed review: When it first opened, the katsu curry used to be so buttery and beautiful, which made me change from chopsticks in the foodcourt being my regular, to this. The place is so cute and the employees are really nice, i feel like the quality of food has defos gone downhill now. This place is a regular of mine, so I brought my family this time. We got chicken katsu curry and rice. The rice tasted fishy, the chicken was made up of cheap cuts, which were actually bloody inside. Such a disappointment honestly.

The chicken teriyaki was raw inside. Like how can you serve raw chicken? Like it’s ridiculous… even tho I got my refund I’m still not happy

Absolutely lovely food here. I had seafood Udon. Had to wait 5mins,but I don't mind because I then know it's fresh. It was really tasty, definitely better than the fast food chains. Will go back again when in Manchester. Food was delivered to our table as well, staff are super friendly and informative..

Not bad little place to grab some rice or noodles on the go. Can be a little expensive for what you get. The place does lack any atmosphere what so ever and was a little untidy, having to clean our own table to sit down.

Tasty and quick Japanese cuisine with great vegan options. Staff are always friendly and service is quick and easy. Great option if you're not feeling the usual burger and fries or Greggs.

The atmosphere is lacking due to it being in the arndale. But honestly was super suprised. The foods great and the staff are lovely. Yeah it's maybe a little pricey for what you get but still a great deal when compared to most the other arndale food prices. I'd still recommend going to the food market if anyone asked, but other than it's probably the best food you can get in the arndale. Served by lovely people.

I tried it for the first time last week, for a fast food dining spot it's okay and although it's almost always impossible to get a seat so you have to takeaway (what prevented me trying in past) I think overall the food was better than I'd say it's direct rival wagamamas. You have a fixed choice of options that comes in a circular pot. The quantity of food for the price (circa £9-£10) dosent feel great. I opted for katsu curry with rice and paid Extra for 2 Gyosa (not recommended, been kept warm far too long not fresh at all) the Katsu was good and they gave a decent amount of chicken for the size of the pot. 5 of us from work went, and all of us found the portion size too high for price and needed something else for our stomachs to be content. The staff were friendly, but didn't communicate much so it was rather robotic and not much organisation in who's order will come out first. In our group the person who ordered 4th actually got his first. Overall its a decent place to eat and no doubt I will return. if you don't mind doing as takeaway as unlikely to have seats I'd certainly pick this over wagamamas especially if you was aiming for any standard noodle or rice dish.

The food is amazing. My husband is a fan of Chicken Katsu with rice. The potion is so big even for the regular size. My favourite would be the sweet and spicy chicken. They never disappoint me every time me and my husband come

Really beautifully made sushi! The rice is always perfect and I’m certain there is a very skilled person working there! I’d also recommend the sweet chilli chicken with curry sauce! You should definitely try it!

First time buying from this branch, been to the one in Liverpool a good few times, and always enjoyed the food. I’ll never buy from here again after today! Had this for lunch and approx. 4-5 hours later stomach cramps followed by severe upset stomach. Barely ate any of the noodles as they were like microwaved mush. The chicken was full of flavour and the sauce was good. However, something in that meal has made me ill.

I ordered the Katsu chicken with noodles and miso soup. First and foremost the service was fine till they missed an extra order of Miso soup for my mum. I can't say I was impressed with the Katsu chicken. It was very dry which appeared to be left for the entire day before serving. The curry sauce and Miso soup was too salty for my liking. I have been to many Japanese places and unfortunately, I would rate this place to be the worst and certainly won't be coming back.

Absolutely gorgeous food! Been there twice, two completely different locations across the UK and they were divine. Love the food!

I bought loads of sushi and had a sushi party with my family. The sushi was really fresh and tasty. The price was cheaper than other sushi places I’ve ever been as well. We all loved it so much. Highly recommend !!

I paid over £7 for 4 piece's of chicken and a load of rice. They fill the bowl with rice and then put what you ask for on top. Which is very little Not happy at all won't be going there again.

I like this place, it’s cheap and quick food ideal for lunch time. I came on Monday 24th March around 1pm. There was a queue out the door and the staff (4 of them) were stood around chatting and not paying any attention to customers. Several customers actually left as they got tired of waiting. The food was decent. I had a sushi katsu combi, the sushi was great but the chicken and salad were mediocre.

The food was amazing. Definitely coming again.

was honestly the best sushi that I have had from somewhere that it is packaged up, the fact that they had hot food as well was amazing! i would definitely recommend the Deluxe set so you can try a range of sushi that they have + try the katsu prawn from the hot menu it’s so good!!<33 will be coming back here again! especially for the price<3

Really nice food, didn't manage to finish my large bowl. Price wise, it's about average for the food places in the Arndale.

Wasn’t too sure what to expect being in the middle of the Arndale Centre (Manchester’s city centre mall), however this was a lovely surprise. I had chicken katsu curry, which had a generous portion of slices of breaded chicken with very well made rice and the sauce was delicious (I just wanted even more sauce). Price wise was about £9 for a regular portion and a drink and service was fast and friendly.

The food is normally top notch BUT today it wasn't. Only onion in the Noodles. And the Sweet Chili Chicken was old and dry. So disappointing because in the current climate this is a big treat and I was really looking forward to the normal excellent standard.

Cheaper than yo sushi, tuna and salmon sushi even taste better, clean dining area but a big let down on the greens in the tuna and salmon love set where in there were several wilted soggy leaves. I approached one of the staff and informed her about it, and I was not prepared with her response telling me that the greens are for display only and not to be eaten.

It is a nice budget restaurant. I go there when I miss my Korean food.

The sushi is delicious and I can't get enough of it. 10 times better than the sushi from YO! However, they're clearly under-staffed and I'm always waiting in the queue for 5-10 minutes to be served. The manager needs to do better.

Most of the stuff was out of stock, and it's way too pricey compared to the kokoro in Liverpool

Looks better than it is. High prices. Not much options. Sushi wasn’t great. Chicken was hard to eat. Don’t get the chicken gyoza.

I got the chilli chicken with noodles. Noodles were totally bland no flavour at all, the chicken on the other hand did have flavour and was ok but the meat was grey and very gritty. The food wasn't even luke warm. I spent around 9 pound very expensive for the quality. The worst part of it was after I had paid for my meal the lady at the till tells me she dosent have forks only spoons and chopsticks. I'm not that cultured and cannot use chopsticks. I had to eat noodles with a spoon. Definitely will not be back.

Terrific value and much, much better than the usual shopping centre offerings. Chilli chicken noodles are very tasty.

The chicken Katsu was more like batter katsu with a hint of chicken. I will stick with Hong Thai in the market.

The food was served hot and was done within the minute. The bowl was quite inconvenient it was filled to the brim and if you tried to take a bite the chicken which is on top would fall of. I got the sweet and spicy chicken and noodles which was pretty nice and not too spicy. I took my noodles to go after taking a few bites but by the time I came home all the grease and fat rendered through the box and stained the container and bag. Whilst improvements can be made I would return to this place if I can make suggestions during the serving of the food.

The food was nice, was served by a lovely lady Ioania. She was extremely nice and very understanding and patient with my indecisiveness! Such a nice experience and will be returning again :)

Not great. The salmon teriyaki is too sweet and saucy, and the salmon had been fried so was very dry inside but oily outside. The deluxe sushi box we had was ok, the rice was quite hard as if it'd been in the fridge for a while. I also ordered the chicken katsu udon which was bland and disappointing. Probably won't come back as I can get better Japanese elsewhere.

The food is alright, the portions are filling and there were a couple of spots to charge my phone. Nothing really too notable about the place, I might come back in the future and try something else.

Another good fast food option however other branches like Liverpool, Reading, Leeds.... are much better than this one located in Arndale in term of food quality. This store offer limited seating, some charging sockets by the wall as well.

I've been to the Kokoro in Leeds many times, they're excellent, open on time, food is good but this Arndale manchester one ive been to about 6x since it opened 2 to 3 weeks ago, they are an absolute mess, i got Chicken Teriyaki with rice each time and they have no clue what theyre doing. They open late firstly and have no time management, as im waiting for half an hour after thry told me theyllbe open in 30 mins, 30 mins ago, then the chicken is not fresh, its old, and hard, chewy and stringy and the Leeds one was never like this, then they dont even know how to put the rice in the pot at an angle with the toppings also at an angle so you can eat both at the same time like they do in Leeds, she just puts the rice at the bottom and toppings straight on top on top, and way less rice also, its impossible to get to the rice when its covered by the toppings and if you try itll just spill all over, this is the last time ill come to kokoro manchester and ill go leeds if i want it that bad, and this time she put no teriyaki sauce liquid on the rice like she should as they do inleeds, so im eating dry rice chicken teriyaki, i give up, ill go leeds they should close this one down Edit: i went back twice and they have definitely improved, had chicken teriyaki on both occassions and the chicken is delicious no longer with a charred layer and overcooked but juicy and fresh, the portions, the rice, the teriyaki sauce all is excellent hence changing my review from 1 star to 4.

Awkward service? The cashier gave me a bag and watched me to pack my food up, without any intention to help me. It was an embarrassment and no chopsticks and forks are provided. Seriously?

Definitely a top contender for best lunch spot in the arndale! Went in today after checking out NUDO and having a small heart attack at the prices! I ordered the chicken teriyaki (£7.25 regular size) you get a choice of rice or noodles, I went for rice. The lovely girl behind the counter filled the pot as much as she possibly could and I felt I was certainly getting my money’s worth! The food was delicious and I will definitely be going again!

I’m pretty new to the whole sushi thing but I really liked the many sushi options that Kokoro provide. Also their chicken is to die for, definitely will be going back

A big no for the soya sauce! Guys please change the brand of it! It tastes plasticky and my hands stunk chemically even after washing it twice! It has completely killed the taste of the nigiri sushi I had! Also the sushi was falling apart while picking it up with chopsticks, it did seem fresh but guys, use a bit of wasabi to hold the pieces of fish and rice together!
