Zucchini Pasta Bar in Newcastle upon Tyne

The worst bottomless experience I’ve ever had! We arrived on time for the booking I made for my birthday to be told they couldn’t seat us for 20 minutes and we’re told to stand in the doorway, all 13 of us. When seated it took the staff 40 minutes to come take any drinks orders putting us an hour into our bottomless slot. From here the service went even more down hill. When we tried to order cocktails there would be 30+ minute waits on them with the staff often forgetting we’d even ordered at all. We were told they couldn’t serve us certain cocktails included in the bottomless offering despite serving them to the table next to us that ordered after. There was multiple occasions where I was left without a drink at all for 20+ minutes even though I’d ordered twice, when the cocktails did come they tasted like pure water when I questioned this we were told the waitresses had just been trained and didn’t know how to make the drinks which is not what you want to hear for £32 a head. Our friend who paid full price for the mock tails option received 1 mock tail during the entire duration of our visit despite ordering more. The food took well over an hour to arrive. When our food did arrive there was a small metal screw in one of the girls meals which we brought up to the wait staff only to be dismissed with well the chef doesn’t have a piercing before she walked off as if it couldn’t have come from anywhere in the kitchen. I asked for a to go box for my carbonara and garlic bread and when I arrived home I opened the box to find a penne which I’m assuming was somebody else’s meal. When I brought this up during my complaint over email they tried to shame me for questioning the decision to give me an different meal entirely from the one I paid for and claimed they had made it fresh instead of giving me my meal even though they were closed at the time of us leaving. I highly doubt this as it wasn’t a full portion, they didn’t mention that they’d made me a new meal at all when they handed me the bag and they declined to show the CCTV of them making the fresh meal despite previously referencing their CCTV to check how long we were waiting for drinks. When we asked for a discount they told us they couldn’t do that and we’d have to pay full price and take it up with head office. When we eventually got to speak to head office they offered £4.20 off each and we had to haggle with them to get them to agree to a £7.50 refund. The whole experience put a massive dampener on what should have been a lovely birthday with friends most of which had travelled to Newcastle for, I sincerely doubt we will be back.

Totally recommend, was a great place for brunch and cocktails! The food menu and drink selection is versatile, the overall waiting experience was amazing, the manager served us and he was great and the lovely lady called Claire did a fantastic job too. Lovely food and Lovely people, will be returning.

No pasta, no life! The pasta here is so fantastic!!! I went to this restaurant twice times. So impressed with pasta here! The atmosphere is very chill and feels good. The staff is nice. Their tiramisu is nice as well. I will go back again for sure! My fav one pasta in Newcastle!

Fantastic, delicious food, great value.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. How lucky for us. This is the best pasta I've eaten in a long while. My friend, who is Italian, agreed. The food was fresh and vibrant, the waiter was so attentive, and the price was very good. It was a one-off trip to Newcastle, so I won't be going back to eat, which is a great pity. Give yourselves a treat and visit.

My partner and I came down on Valentine’s day for a pasta making class. We had the wonderful Chris hosting us and he was fantastic, so charismatic it felt like he was a pal we’d known ages, and he made a really fun experience even more fun. You make so many kinds of pasta and its cooked and served beautifully for you at the end. And there’s too much of it we ended up taking loads home and having pasta lunches for a couple of days! Recommend it to couples or even big groups.

Don't think you can have a nice tasty lunch for £15. We always have a great experience.

Great food, poor service. We waited 30 mins to be seated despite having a booking, we spent at least 15 mins at the door without being acknowledged. Our starters came after our mains because they were forgotten and drinks were missed off our order. We wanted a dessert but instead got brought the bill without even asking for it. Not very good. Food tasted great though.

My wife and I went here for a pasta making masterclass and it exceeded our expectations. Our host / teacher was Chris and he was great - incredibly knowledgeable but fun with it. Quality of ingredients and equipment was great and you really don't need too much skill or effort to make something delicious. Whilst making the pasta we were given some great homemade garlic bread and some Italian snacks and drinks which were really nice. Once we'd made our pasta the restaurant chefs cooked it with sauces to match. Far too much food to finish but they they only cooked us what we wanted to eat and the rest was boxed up (both cooked with sauce and raw) the remainder for us to take home. Would thoroughly recommend, very reasonable prices and a really high quality product and experience 👌

I came here with some friends for restaurant week and the food was delicious. Good sized portions and very well cooked . Service was friendly . My only gripe was that we were placed right next to the door and we had booked in advance … we got an icy blast when people came in . It was an exceptionally cold day though ! I would definitely return !

The staff were very accommodating! Very friendly. We had bottomless brunch and were extremely fast with drinks something wasn’t even ordering and they were bringing the favourites overs. Went for a office party, it was very crowded thus the service was slow and the food came out cold. But the pasta was really nice and freshly made, they also have vegan and vegeterian options that they can accomodate to.

Did a pasta making course and ate a meal made by the staff from out pasta. Brilliant experience.

Updating my review after another fantastic lunch! The fettuccine chicken parmigiana was outstanding. It came with a delicious arrabiata sauce that was full of flavour and just the right amount of spice. The Christmas special carbonara and spiced apple slushy were top notch too. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we had such a lovely experience 😊 Great pasta and meatloaf, and the legendary garlic bread lived up to expectations 😁 We shared a portion of tiramisu which was more than big enough for two and also enjoyed the slushies

Attended a pasta making class earlier this week and it was fantastic. Our host Chris (I think, sorry!) was great and even entertained our Italian boss’ extra details! 2nd time I’ve done it now, and it probably isn’t “my bag” - but would 100% do it again! Food was exceptional too.

We ordered the Xmas bundle set which was sooooooo great! One pasta with a side. The mushroom side was very juicy and tasty. We were full with these two and didn't order tiramisu which was a pity. Absolutely will come again!

I've ate in this restaurant many times so once i heard that they offer pasta making classes it was added straight to my to do list. The workshop was fantastic i could recommend it enough. On arrival we were all offered a drink and snacks ( the best garlic bread going and pasta crisps. My first thought pasta crisps weird but WOW my new favourite snack!) Chris the chef talked us through what the workshop would involve. We made 5 different pastas ( i'm not talking spaghetti or lasagne sheets either!) which was fantastic. So this was educational as well as delicious. We played games which made the workshop very competitive as i'm not a good loser!) After we finished our workshop we split up our pastas some to cook then and some to take home. Chef Chris headed back into the kitchen and cooked up a storm. Food portions of course very generous as always. Learning different ways to make our pastas was helpful for someone like myself who struggles for inspo. The next day i attempted to cook my own pasta. Of course not as good as what chef Chris cooked up BUT wow fresh pasta takes so much better! I will never again buy a packet of pasta shapes. Ive got more sessions booked in to come back with friends. Id also highly recommend the bottomless brunch they offer. Drinks and food are generously served and its brilliant value for money. Can not recommend the food, drinks and most importantly the staff enough. Im always made to feel welcomed here and i dont think people shout out enough about when we receive good customer service. So as always thank you for a great day Zucchini.

Went for a pasta making class, absolutely amazing! Chris our chef did an awesome job of getting us involved and such great value as well! All of the pasta we made was cooked into 4 delicious dishes all of large portion size including truffle cream sauce and a beef ragu which was impeccable. Will definitely be visiting again

Great restaurant. I ordered Triangle Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli In A Red Pepper & Basil Sugo, and it was such a delicious meal. For dessert, I had a Tiramisu, which was also very tasty. The service was excellent and friendly.

Came for bottomless brunch and had a wonderful time! Our server Phil was great, he made us a few pitchers of popular cocktails while we decided on food then kept the drinks flowing for our time slot. He was super friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty and filling. Excellent value for money :)

I've been to Zucchini on multiple occasions and always had a fantastic dining experience, the pasta is freshly made and immensely tasty, the service is brilliant and the cocktails are spot on. We've dined in casually, enjoyed the bottomless cocktails offer and more recently, we experienced their 'Pasta Making Masterclass' as a birthday gift. We couldn't recommend this enough - Liam the manager was an excellent teacher, he made us feel really comfortable and looked after us all evening, we made a variety of different pasta which was then cooked by the chefs, leaving us absolutely stuffed with grins on our faces. I'd give Zucchini and their staff more than 5 stars if I could - We'll be back very soon.

It specializes in pasta, which is simple, convenient and delicious. The recommended appetizer is the fried zucchini, and the pasta is of course the oxtail pappardelle that has been stewed for eight hours. p.s. The waiter seemed out of sorts, either forgetting the water or the menu.

We came to Zucchini’s a few weeks ago for my mams birthday and had such an amazing time doing the pasta making lesson. Chris, our chef, was great at teaching us what to do and made the session really relaxed and fun. We weren’t there at a busy time but the staff were limited so were juggling tables at times, yet despite this they made sure we were always okay for drinks and enjoying our time. Philip was a brilliant waiter who even let us make one of our cocktails! We will definitely be returning and have told many of our friends to book - the staff and experience are a credit to the restaurant. The only thing I would suggest is you make four different types of pasta which create quite big portions, maybe you can decide two to eat in the restaurant and two to take home as by the time Chris came with the third dish we had to ask to box it up as we were so full! The sauces he made with them though were so delicious we want to return for a normal sit down meal.

Good, no-nonsense Italian food. No complaints from me. Be advised however that the place might be somewhat difficult to find - if you come from Pilgrim street you have to go around a corner and go all the way to the end.

Went to the Newcastle branch on Saturday for my friend’s stag do. The whole experience was AMAZING!! We made our own pasta from scratch and the chefs put the finishing touches so we could enjoy them! Liam was the perfect host. He explained everything so well, was patient with us when we were messing up (well not me) and the highlight of my day was when he gave me a big block of Parmesan when I asked if I could have more cheese. Made my dreams come true. Would 10000% recommend and I will definitely be coming back!

They've recently (July 2023) changed their menu and removed some of the vegan options which is a shame. I has the midnight pasta which was very dissapointing. There are other options which I'd suggest if you're vegan. The limoncello and basil slush is fabulous

What a great little restaurant! Fresh pasta, good quality ingredients. Had a delicious meal with my family. Service warm and friendly, very efficient. Good value. Well worth seeking out.

I saw this on tiktok and opted for the lunch deal: 1. PAPPARDELLE '8 HOUR' BEEF SHIN & OX TAIL RAGU 2. TRUFFIE FRIED POTATOES & SPICY MAYO (VG) 3. Tiramisu The potatoes were good but the main and dessert were mid. I don’t know how this place has good reviews. The food was well priced for portion size and the atmosphere was night on a quiet Friday afternoon. Getting to the building was a little difficult as there are road works on the main road so take the underground passage if you visit.

Visited a few weeks back along with my team mates for a pasta making class. We had so much fun! It was a brilliant experience.

Had a lovely evening meal, generous portions of really tasty main meals and sides meant we had slightly over ordered. So no room for dessert. Really friendly welcoming service, we very much enjoyed our visit.

Longtime fan of Zucchini. Terrific food, very friendly staff and highly reasonable prices. What else do you need? We held the TEDxNewcastle Conference Dinner here too a couple years ago and it was a great venue for a larger event too. 👍👍 June 2023 update: had the pleasure of ordering the Fresh Spaghetti & Italian Sliced Meatball dish at lunch. So good. Also their ciabatta is best I've ever had. Never thought anything could compete with a great baguette but their ciabatta came close. And finally their house wines are amazing value for money. 🥖🥖🍷🍷

Went for the bottomless cocktails menu and it is 100% worth your money. Food and drinks were awesome and the staff were lovely. Even went above and beyond to give us recommendations for things to do around Newcastle while we where here on holiday!!

So good. Waiter was so friendly and suggested us some nice bars. Food was lush - meatloaf had amazing fennel taste. 100% would go back if not for the waiters friendly chat.

Came in on Saturday night, visiting Newcastle city centre from Glasgow. Food was excellent but the service was a mixed bag. Was mainly attended to by a nice chap called Declan who had excellent knowledge of the menu and gave great recommendations on both food and drink. As we asked for the bill, he also took the time to recommend some great local bars to try too. His service was great and he had an excellent helpful attitude. However, service was let down by the excessive wait time on our cocktails and for our order to be taken. The waiter did apologise and explain this was due to the restaurant hosting large parties of bottomless brunches and recommended a jug of wine instead, which came much quicker. there should have been more than once person on the bar. Great food and friendly service but was slightly let down by long wait times. Apart from that it was excellent but we’d recommend dining on a quieter night.

The manager called us pissheads when taking our first drink orders and called us 'mate' when we enquired about the food, the staff were rude and bad tempered, they ate their lunch in the restaurant, and we only got served two drinks for 'bottomless' cocktails. The pasta was dry and undercooked, the only thing we enjoyed was the garlic bread. Definitely wouldn't go again. When we complained they offered us a bottle of prosecco but it was too late to change our opinion

Visited the other day with some friends. We were impressed by the amazing hospitality and service we received. A worker named Declan in particular was very helpful and welcoming. The food was lovely and we cannot wait to return.

Delicious food! We ordered house wine and the big sharer which has a little bit of everything. The only thing we regret is that we were too full for dessert.

I feel so sad leaving this review, as Zucchini's was one of my favourite places to eat in Newcastle, but I've had perhaps the worst dining experience in here tonight. The staff are pretty inattentive, except if you're smashed and drinking alcohol - like most of the tables around us were. We waited 40 minutes for drinks, and all four of them were wrong. Then, we were given a vegan dish which was meat, and a pasta dish missing half of its ingredients. The food was...OK the vegan sharer is basically chilli oil pasta. There were people vaping, shouting, whistling and the staff were still continuing to serve them alcohol - even stopping to hug random women, and sit with them, while food had been waiting at the kitchen for 10 minutes. Tables around us left, having not been served after 20 minutes, and I don't blame them - even telling another table to leave on the way out. Really, really awful experience and we will never be back. It's such a shame but it's become a victim of its own success. Avoid.

Authentic Italian pasta place, yummy food, great service and very fairly priced.

Firstly, we’ve been eating here since the restaurant first opened and always had good experiences. Eating out here last Saturday afternoon [11th February] could only be described as rahter strange. Upon on entering we greeted by a not-so-friendly member of staff (large set balding guy) and were allocated seats near the door. We politely asked if we could be seated away from the door as it gets cold and the restaurant only looked at half capacity. We were informed that all the other seats were reserved for 45 minutes time so we took the seats on offer near to the door. We waited a long time to order food, and in the end had to ask the same unconcerned waiter, who seemed intent on ignoring us, if we could order. He said “yeah, in a little” then walked off. Took orders at another two tables and then took food to various tables. Eventually he arrives to take our order, we ordered two pastas and a garlic bread and asked if the garlic bread (advertised as a side) could arrive with the pastas (we were both on a break and didn’t have much free time). He said “it’ll arrive when its ready” and needless to say, the garlic bread arrived as a starter. The food was very tasty – as it has always been every time I have visited. However, by now we were feeling a little uncomfortable around this member of staff. We asked for the bill, which when it arrived had had an extra main course added to it. We all make mistakes, so it wasn’t a big problem. When I pointed it out to the waiter, he looked at the bill, took it away, came back and dropped the it back on the table. Didn’t say a word, not an apology, nothing. He then walked off with the card terminal and struck up a long conversation with some other diners on another table. We waited to pay, then waited and waited a little more. Eventually we asked another member of staff behind the counter – a very friendly and helpful gentleman, if we could pay. He then had to go looking for the terminal (which the waiter had) and bring it over so we could pay. In the 50 minutes we were in the restaurant nobody ever did come in to fill the large selection of empty seats away from the door. Either the guy took a big disliking to us, or he just shouldn’t be working in a job role dealing with the public. Real shame as it’s been a favourite go to eatery over the years and really didn't want to write this review.

Great food, good service, iffy customers but we can't win em all. Would have been a canny little experience had there not been a hen doo in, screaming at the top of their lungs and messing on. Proper ruined the mood as you couldn't hear yourself talking over the cackling. Wish this place was in a nicer area too. Otherwise the food was lush and the staff very friendly!

If you like pasta you have to try this place. Absolute gem

We had tried the Metro Centre branch (which sadly has now closed down) and loved it, and wanted to return. So we booked a table not knowing it was restaurant week in Newcastle and luckily we managed to get a table. We arrived 15 minutes early to our booking but we're promptly seated to our table which was ready and ordered our drinks, which took a bit longer to arrive than usual times but the bar was busy so I can understand why. We ordered our food and sides which did not take long to arrive at all. The food was piping hot and delicious, the twice fried potatoes are to die for and we loved the garlic bread too. There was no urgency for us to leave despite the queue of people waiting to be seated growing by the minute. (But this was due to a hiccup with the card payment machine which wouldn't work and people couldn't pay their bills. No points lost for this as we were offered complimentary drinks whilst it was being resolved). A great pasta bar and we will likely return again in the future.

The meal was delicious. Couldn't fault the meal! Service was a little slow but it was restaurant week so it's understandable. Meal was given in phases. The kids meal arrived first, adult sides arrived 10 minutes later, then adult mains were delivered 30 minutes after the sides. One of our party was still eating a main, when all dishes were cleared away. This for us, is bad server standards. Made the last person feel rushed. The atmosphere was very noisy and echoing. There was music playing but you could barely hear it above the other echoing voices.

Firstly I have to say the food is absolutely amazing 👏 best Italian I've ever had. Cinnamon and chocolate dip wow wow wow highly recommended. I'm sorry to say the service let you down big time we arrived 6.15 we had booked our table prior to our visit.we were left standing waiting as table wasn't ready. Then we sat which seemed like forever before waitress came she asked what we wanted at this stage thought she meant drinks but she just looked at us. We ordered drinks and food altogether and then another long wait forbour drinks. The side orders then arrived which were delicious then another wait for our mains. No exploration no would you like another drink fabulous mains everyone finished before myself waitress came along started clearing table while I was still eating definitely a no mo in my eyes. Then came the deserts 2 came then a 10 min wait until the next 2 came. No hope you enjoyed your meal was everything OK nothing. Its such ashame as your food is amazing but your service let you down also when sending food out tell your chef to use a towel now his finger to wipe drips off the plates. I would love to return for you amazing food but please work on your customer service it goes a long way.

Foods nice. I've been 3 times now though and the service has always been poor. Staff who seem quite disinterested in you, incredibly slow to serve (over an hour for food) poor choice of alcohol and the place is a bit of a mess to be honest. If you look behind the counter it's a tip. Go elsewhere is my opinion

We just recently came here for bottomless brunch and the food was incredible, really high quality and tasty for the price. The staff were amazing, very welcoming and friendly especially Liam who went above and beyond to make it a fantastic experience. 10/10. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back!

This was our last meal for 22' and Zucchini did not let us down!! I've been here a few times and the food is better than ever before. The house red wine was amazing, the beef ragusa was outstanding and the garlic bread was just fabulous 👌. The atmosphere was so great, beautifully laid out and free to be as loud as we wanted! Shout out to Adam, who waited our table and was so good when my son caused a bit of mischief in the loos. Thank you and a very Happy New Year! Can't wait for my next visit! Clair H

We had a brilliant visit to Zucchini. We’ve been many times and took some family who hadn’t been before. They were all really impressed. Fresh food and great speedy service. We noticed a few negative reviews recently and wanted to leave this one to say Zucchini is still as brilliant as ever. Great food, great value, great people. Looking forward to our next visit.

Christmas eve. Family meal for four. Very disappointed. One of the main courses on the Christmas menu was not available. It was the course that at least two of us were going to order. Our son found a hair in his main course. The place was empty apart from one other group of people. However the service was not very good. Food was average at best.

Disappointing - went over the weekend and found it to be basic inside and cold - food and service was ok but small portions - wasn’t too expensive but there’s a lot better in Newcastle- wouldn’t return or recommend

Was really disappointed in this restaurant. Booked bottomless brunch at 5pm (which included unlimited cocktails). Nobody came to our table to take our order until 5.30pm which meant half an hour of bottomless was wasted. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. 20 minutes passed and we still hadn’t received our first drink - we went up and asked where they were to be told they take up to 30 minutes to make…. A few minutes later our food arrived (6pm) and still no drinks. In dribbs and drabs our drinks arrived, some people had finished their main course before they even got their first drink. We asked to order more drinks when our drinks arrived as we’d paid for bottomless and it ended in half an hour… all ordered another drink. It said on the menu that side dishes were included with your main meal to share - we didn’t receive any of these so I had to complain. They forgot to give us our sides and apologised and said ‘they’ll be on the house’ even though they were already meant to be included. 6.25pm, five mins before we were due to leave, our sides arrived so we had 5 minutes to eat garlic bread and pasta crisps (on their own due to main meal been eaten ages beforehand). Second drinks also still hadn’t arrived. So we left at 6.30 unsatisfied with our meal. Bottomless drinks a complete waste of time as we only had 1 drink each - which was a cocktail in a tiny glass about half the size of an average cocktail. Food portions were also very small - wouldn’t have minded as we mainly went for the cocktails but since we didn’t get those either…. Girls waitressing were clueless, didn’t know what half the pasta dishes were when they delivered to the table was just told ‘this is the chicken’ even though 4 people had ordered different chicken dishes. We may aswell have just ordered our pasta dish and 1 drink separately as it would have worked out way cheaper than ‘bottomless’. Really disappointed. 😟

Fried pasta crisps were fabulous, great pasta with ragú & the spaghetti carbonara was the best my girlfriend’s ever eaten. Will definitely return. Excellent! Thanks

Amazing bottomless Prosecco. Pasta was gorgeous and endless drinks including cocktails was just what we were looking for!!! Service was fab! Thanks to the manager man for looking after us- sorry I can’t remember his name! Would defo recommend!!

Small portions but very good. Tiramisu is very nice, the pasta snaps are a bit odd. Definetly try the garlic mushroom crostini.
