Uno's Trattoria in Newcastle upon Tyne

Staff were very polite, helpful and useful, the place was very busy but we still managed to get served within 10 minutes upon arrival. Fantastic place to go for an Italian in Newcastle.

Ok food steak was ordered medium was medium rare and full of pepper, excellent atmosphere and choice of wines

Decided to treat myself to a Sunday roast before I left for Australia. I wasn't disappointed. It was absolutely delicious!!! Piping hot, tender meat, a lot of vegetables and potato options. And of course, the good old Yorkshire pud was done to perfection and did not disappoint! Big serve which is usually too much for me - I devoured the plate it was soooo good. The lovely young waiter even went to the kitchen to get some horseradish sauce too on request. So good. Staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. The venue is in a great spot, especially if you are exploring the Quayside precinct (markets etc.). Would highly recommend this place. If I have time, I'll be back to try more of their offerings 😄

Attended a work colleague’s retirement do at Uno’s. The service was excellent even though there were around 30 of us. We all pre-ordered in advance but it was still handled very well by the staff.

Been here so many times I’ve lost count Food is always fantastic, staff are friendly today the service wasn’t the best though I have to admit and every other time it is normally great we were seated at the back bit of the restaurant and were the only ones in there for a while we wanted more drinks and seemed to of got forgotten about so my dad had to get up and go and order the drinks at the bar restaurant wasn’t busy either it is a shame as it’s never like this usually and I have been coming here for over 10years Food was good though potato skins starter i do feel the portion size of potato skins could be slight bigger Main course of penne alforno which was incredible probably one of the best penne alfornos I have had

Italian is never my first choice but we decided to book Uno's on a visit to Newcastle as it suited the majority of our party of 4 and what a delicious meal it was. Outstanding starter was the Black Pudding & Belly Pork with peppercorn sauce which would only recommend ordering alongside a main course if you are very hungry :) Everyone loved their meals. The staff were simply lovely and efficient. The only downside for us was the 2 very large tables that were also dining were extremely loud. We should really have asked to be moved tables but the place was very busy even although it was very early in the evening. Clearly a popular Quayside restaurant and from the food and service we could see why. Certainly wouldn't deter us from returning.

Wednesday evening meal after Quaysude races. We pre booked our table as last year we took the chance to get a booking on the night and it was very busy , it was so nice we wanted to ensure we got a table Girl who took Booking last Saturday was really lovely on telephone so a great start. Arrived a little early for table but seated with no issues. Was quite busy but not overly noisy. The ambiance of this restaurant is so lovely honestly a little low music playing would have been lovely - I nearly thought I was in Italy itself. Service was wonderful , Karelina our server made sure we were happy with everything and nothing was an issue. Food was excellent and plentiful - we will definitely back after all our races at Quayside definitely a firm favourite now of ours.

I scored me a Deluxe Parmo, wedges on the side plus a couple of Moretti. It was to be a works retirement job kicking off at 16.30 on a Friday eve straight from graft. The joint is popular and busy, even at this time. The scran was absolutely fine and twenty empty plates from my team were sent back, post consumption. We had pre-ordered and paid a deposit, so starters, puds and a billion beers weren't on our cards tonight. I don't think anyone left unimpressed. Ok, it wasn't a gastronomic epiphany but I absolutely would return!

Dont go much to newcastle but this place is our go to great food and atmosphere, and priced okay for a city centre

Just had a lovely meal and nice wine. The food was so tasty and hopefully authentic Italian as I have never visited since the 70s so a bit vague. Portions were superb for a healthy appetite but still enjoyed by people who enjoy quality, and we were offered a doggy bag. The staff from booking at lunchtime to arriving for our meal and the way we were attended too by several members of the team. Team being appropriate from the Toon of the Cup winners. Only downside was the episode of Geordie Shore rehearsal on the next table! This is a fabulous restaurant especially for the price.

Lovely meal and service excellent Best lasagne I've had in a long time

When I was at university (about 25 years ago would you believe) we’d occasionally pop down to Uno’s for their happy hour £2 pizzas. Now times have changed and prices have risen but Uno’s pizzas are still good value. Yes the waiting staff try to upsell (can you blame them?) but it’s still a decent option. Won’t necessarily knock your socks off though.

We didn’t book but the staff went out of their way to accommodate us Food was top quality. And matched by the outstanding servoce

We ate at Uno’s on a Friday lunch and as usual It didn’t disappoint. We opted for the 2 course special. We shared potato skins which were delicious and a cheesy garlic bread which was so tasty too and we even had leftovers. Emma had the Italian sausage stew which was lovely and I tried the gnocchi with pancetta and garlic sauce. All in all a lovely experience and I’ve been coming here for 30 years plus and it’s always first class. The service is first class too.

Perfect traditional Italian restaurant

WARNING! Don’t expect to leave here hungry! The portions are enormous! We had the early evening 2 course menu with fish cakes and meatballs for starters then cannelloni and tagliatelle for mains. Neither mains were finished as we were too full. Excellent quality, lovely staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Found us a table. Waiter really efficient and friendly. Food OK and piping hot, possibly, from the microwave. One table of guests really disturbing, very loud and foul mouthed, every other word an expletive and dropping the C-bomb before 7 pm with a young girl present. One table asked to be moved. Another left. Our complaint was listened to by the owner/manager but not heard. Not worth the money, c. £130 for two.

We popped into Uno yesterday for a quick, light bite, and what a treat it turned out to be! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and outstanding service. Our waitress, Laura, was an absolute gem—attentive, friendly, and made us feel like the only guests in the restaurant, despite it being packed for a Thursday afternoon. Now we understand why it’s so popular! We decided to share a Napoli pizza, and to our delight, it arrived beautifully plated on two separate dishes—without us even having to ask. A thoughtful touch! And the taste? Simply phenomenal. Hands down the best pizza we've had in ages! The crust was perfectly crisp with that irresistible flour-dusted finish, and the toppings were incredibly generous. I was this close to ordering another one to take home but decided to behave. Today, I deeply regret that decision—lesson learned! Next time the pizza craving hits, there’s no question: we’re heading straight to Uno. The drive will be more than worth it! A huge thank you to the lovely Laura for making our visit so special and to the talented chefs for crafting such an unforgettable pizza. Can’t wait to return!

Thoroughly enjoyed a visit to Uno’s, with my son. We both chose from the lunchtime special menu - bruschetta, chicken wings and a pizza each. The food was delicious - very fresh and flavoursome; pizzas were especially good, with a perfect base and plenty of toppings. The meal, with a glass of wine each, cost £40 (service charge included), which we felt was really good value.

Lovely place, Very friendly, efficient And helpful staff. Menu has plenty of choice without being overwhelming including a children's menu. Very well priced, even the wine menu was much better priced then the restaurants around it. I had the belly pork and black pudding starter with peppercorn sauce. Big portion and tasted fine just no real click of flavour, the belly pork was anemic to look at and needed searing. Carbonara for main, again very much nice but in need of having more flavour. Pasta didn't taste freshly made

Absolutely wonderful. Worth a wander down to the Quayside. We were looked after from our first arrival and the food was top notch and timely. Would not hesitate to return when back in the city.

it's been a few years since I visited Uno's. It used to be the haunt of footballers and celebrities alike. still has the wall of signatures! I have to say the food was well decent in a great atmosphere. Good wine too. I defo won't be leaving it so long to return! Grazi mille

Absolutely shocking, don’t waste your money. Garlic mushrooms were nothing more than diced and thrown on the plate with garlic butter and couple pieces of toast. The lasagne was worse than a supermarket ready meal - just slapped on the plate with sauce slarted all over the place. It was sloppy and tasteless!! Absolute crap food.

I definitely would not recommend chicken wings. I honestly would take them off the menu. As I was told "that was their standard" when I sent them back.

As soon as we walked in we felt welcomed. The staff are absolutely wonderful! Attentive, caring, welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help. The food came quickly and was simply wonderful! And excellent experience and we will come back again!

Absolutely amazing experience at unos tonight ,we were served by a lady called Katy who was great and even moved us for more space. Would highly recommend both starters and mains me and my partner shared 50/50 with pasta and pizza which was delicious and both the mussels and pancetta to begin.The young man who seated us was equally very polite and helped us with tables straight away-thank you very much!

They obviously care very little about vegetarian options so please avoid if you care about standards.

Visited on the 21st December and wasn't disappointed. Terrific King Prawn Risotto, packed with flavour, and the prawns themselves were tremendous! The pizzas and pastas enjoyed by the others were also very impressive. Already booked to return before the end of the year.

Food was OK to be fair, but 1 bolognese pizza 1 peperoni pizza 1 spaghetti bol 1 chicken and chips. 3 potato skin starters 1 Moretti 1 glass of wine 4 kids black current and water. Over £106 absolute greedy pigs.

Uno's is absolutely top notch, the food is too notch, the staff are absolutely brilliant, and atmosphere is fantastic, you CANNOT beat Uno's! I came with family for my birthday meal tonight, and thoroughly enjoyed my night!

Uno'a is a lovely little restaurant on Newcastle quayside. The food is fab the staff are wonderful and the atmosphere is always cosy. We go there quite often and it's always excellent. Food is great quality for the reasonable price and drinks are always reasonable. We tend to get a bottle of wine and a beer and usually spend less than £30 per person.

Visiting Newcastle for the night and wanted a simple place to go for dinner. Seemed nice but this was far from our experience. The selection was basic at best and for what it was quite overpriced (plus service charge which is automatically applied). I'm vegitarian and the options were quite limited to say the least, went for a vegitarian lasagne (DO NOT HAVE THIS) it was bland, tasteless and mushy, and cost the same price as my partner's calsone which was at least thrice the size of my meal and I am told much nicer. The wine was quite cheap and tasted it, I thought it was watered down at first. Although it's in a good area and the staff were nice enough, in a city with so many options for food, I would stay clear of Uno's.

Wow our food was amazing, to find somewhere to eat where all four of us like food is a hard task but you delivered. We had 3 courses and every bite was delicious good selection of starters, mains and desserts and plenty of drinks to choose from. .

Family meal on a Saturday evening. Greeted politely and shown to our table within minutes. Staff very polite and attentive. Even though busy on a Saturday evening we received our drinks promptly and we didn’t have to wait too long for our starters. Calamari was plenty full and tasty. Black pudding and pork belly was superb and a great portion for a starter with two slices of black pudding and a good portion of pork belly. Recommend both of these. Garlic bread we had half with cheese and half tomato. Again superb. All 4 mains were fantastic and everyone said how tasty their food was and how they were enjoying it. As you can read above we enjoyed our experience at UNO’s and the food was fantastic. Highly recommended.

The food has really gone down hill, last two times I have been it’s been nothing better than I think you would get in a packet.

Had the pork belly and potato skins followed by a pizza and calzone. Huge portions, should have shared a pizza. Excellent food, highly recommended.

Great food (the best calzone piccante in Newcastle by a Mike), lovely atmosphere, and swift attentive service BUT we were not told in advance about the service charge so got a nasty shock when the bill came! Sorry but I prefer to give generous tips for good service and NOT have my pocket picked by the management. Will not be going back for this reason.

We have been going to Uno's for many years, it's our traditional stop before any home game at St James' Park. The menu is fantastic and caters for everyone and the food itself is fantastic. The service from the moment you walk in is top notch and everyone is very well looked after, I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Superb

The secretive was great everyone was friendly, but the food was full of oil and was greasy and soggy and the spaghetti and meatballs made my girlfriend throw up everything not too soon after. I’m wondering if it was the shellfish that was cooked in my own pasta Di mare, I only ate a quarter of mine after finding it a bit too fishy, something felt off and my girlfriend tried a muscle that was in my meal and I think that might’ve been the key to it. I think you might want to check up on the stock you are gaining in and also put less seasoning and oil on the food, remember less is better.

This is such a lovely little restaurant with such a welcoming team of staff. They were very attentive and made additions to my pizza with ease. The cocktail was also very nice. My friend and I make an annual trip up to Newcastle and for the past three years have eaten at UNO's as our first choice. Very disappointing meal this time. Starters were okay but both Pizzas had a burnt dried up crust. We left the crusts and politely told the waitress why! Manager didn't seem too friendly when we paid and left. Had coffee and a drink elsewhere afterwards.

Visited with my daughter at 20.30 on a Wednesday evening following a race on quayside. It was fairly busy, no spare tables but no queue waiting so we were seated immediately Tables are a little close together no privacy here your very close to table next to you. Service very average - a young Man took order and a girl then brought drinks and just put them on table without speaking or smiling Food arrived fairly quick - no one came to ask if meal was ok or did we want anything else throughout whole meal Food was nice enough and soda actually tasted like soda unlike some places lately. Reasonable prices for food but be aware they add service charge to bill without asking I hate this I always leave a tip but don’t expect it added auto.

Cant go wrong great food and atmosphere and cheap

The food and table service were nice, I would give a 3-5 stars for them. Unfortunately, when we paid the bill at counter, the staff kept joking on us: ‘I already forgot you were still here’, ‘did you come from breakfast?’, ‘we do serve breakfast, you can stay to tomorrow morning’, ‘sorry, we have to add up service fee, because you have stayed over 2 hours’… I tried to change topic, and asked if they do student discount. The guy was like: ‘do I look like a student? I’m not a student’. This is not answering my question, but looks unprofessional and impolite with all the ‘long stay’ jokes. I really got upset, and had never been so embarrassed in any restaurant before. We arrived around 6pm, because it was our first time there, we spent a bit long time on food decisions, we ordered around 6.30, and had 2 drinks for each of us. We paid the bill around 8.30pm. There was no one waiting for tables and we never told that our table was booked by none. It may be out of my innocence, that I never knew people would be judged and played impolite jokes if stay in a restaurant over 2 hours under this kind of situation. Good luck with the jokes, would never come again
