Disappointed. We regularly visit pizza express but we’re disappointed with this one. Pizza bases were too soft. American hot was anything but hot. Worst martini espresso ever. We must have had 3 different waiters looking after us throughout the visit, it was either understaffed or disjointed.

I hade an absolutely lovely meal in Pizza Express. Kai served us & was extremely friendly, we will definitely be back soon!

I am a regular customer for this branch, we just went there as a group of 5 people, the waitress that served us was lovely however the food was very disappointing. We ordered 3 pizzas and 2 pollo pestos, all 3 of the pizzas had barely any toppings on them, no cheese either, not fresh at all, the crust was very burnt and the smell was very unpleasant, very upsetting. The pasta for the pollo pestos were both undercooked, the amount of sauce was very scarce compared to the previous times that we were there and there was little to no chicken. This was our favourite branch of pizza express but I don't think we will come back if the quality of the food stays the same as it was tonight.

Always love the food at pizza express, the pollo pesto is my fave. We’ve been served by Kai multiple times and he’s always fab and super attentive :)

Hi, everyone at Pizza Express. I have a lovely time. I was on my own but was welcomed with a friendly smile. I ordered bruchetta, and a pizza used the free side with the offers. Ate the lot, and it was very tasty. Car park at the rear is vital because all the surrounding roads have yellow line restrictions, which would make it impossible to visit.

Thanks to Kai my daughter had a lovely grown up meal with her friend (parent free). Thank you for looking after them. They were greeted with a happy smile and the service was great!

Shabba saves this place. We’ve been when he’s not in and it is a disaster! We had red wine in champagne glasses, decaf coffee with no coffee…. Mugs of hot milk. Tonight he’s in and it’s fab again. Impeccable customer service and we got what we wanted (even if you’ve taken calabrese off the menu for no explicable reason). Seriously why is there no way to tip an individual or send messages to management about how good a staff member is because I’m not joking. He is why we go back!

Came to this Jesmond restaurant for a family meal. Received excellent customer service from the waiter- Shabba. Shabba was extremely attentive and gave valuable advise. There was a family deal on for £54 (roughly). My daughter had a Uni-day voucher. We discussed which offer was more value for money- Shabba enabled us to make a huge saving and this was much appreciated! As we were not from the area, Shabba took the time to speak to us about the area and places that would be of interest to us. Thank you Shabba for your time and effort- truly, a wonderful, friendly and diligent member of staff who is a credit to the company! We had a passion fruit and lemonade soft drink which was divine although I did prefer the pomegranate and lemonade mix ( personal preference) The starters, sides and pizzas that we ordered all came out piping hot and were delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely go again next time we are in Newcastle!

Just not the place to go , over price and service was very slow. Order pasta and pizza . Past was cold and had to send it back and replacement was no better 😠. Would not return to this place .

Always come to Jesmond Pizza Express as don't like the one in Metro Centre or Eldon Square. Staff are always courteous ,friendly and polite . Served by a lovely young lady called Millie today. Lovely ambience and nice and warm which is lovely on a cold day like today. Just wish didn't have to travel 13 miles from Sunderland to enjoy. 🙂

We all had pizzas x5 delicious thin crust and very tasty filling. Desserts also very good. Excellent service all round.

Possibly the worst pasta sause I have ever had. I'm sure it was just pure tomato pureè out of a tube mixed in with the pasta and nothing else, completely tastless. The chicken in breadcrumbs also had a dollop on, along with a piece of cheese. £43.80 for 2 dishes and one drink was far too much. This is the second time their food has been rubbish (in Loughborough, Leicestershire last time) so I'm definitely not returning to this company again!

Last week, we celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Pizza Express, and the experience was amazing, mainly thanks to our server, Kai. The food was as tasty as always, but it was the service that really made the evening memorable. Kai had a fun, laid-back vibe that made us feel instantly comfortable. He cracked a few jokes throughout the night and really connected with my daughter. But the best moment came when he brought out her birthday cake. Instead of just setting it down, he broke into song, singing his heart out with so much energy that the whole restaurant got involved. My daughter was beaming, loving every second of it. Then, to top it off, Kai let her pour her own chocolate sauce over the cake, which made her feel like a VIP. It was such a thoughtful touch, and she absolutely loved being part of the experience. Thanks to Kai, the night went from just a regular dinner to a birthday celebration full of laughter and fun. He went out of his way to make it special, and my daughter had the time of her life. We couldn’t have asked for a better evening.

Always reliable with good food and pleasant staff

Order took nearly an hour and a half to arrive, we watched 3 tables come and go. Staff only apologised for the wait after we asked. When pizza finally arrived, two were raw, which considering the time taken to arrive was pretty shoddy, and one seemed to have half the toppings missing. We had waited for so long though we weren’t about to send them back! Staff were nice enough, but the speed and lack of communication just not good enough. Wont be rushing back in a hurry.

Terrible experience at Pizza Express. The manager was extremely rude, refused to give me order when i was there to pickup for justeat, and even told me not to come back again, making me feel discriminated against. Another staff member mocked me as I was leaving. Completely unacceptable Been to Pizza Express many times and never had an issue until now. —someone needs to look into this!

Another great visit to the Jesmond Pizza Express today - lovely staff - great service - so attentive and welcoming, food great pollo pizza and sides on this occasion, short wait, nice and airy with air con and opened windows on hot afternoon. Still spanking clean and our place to eat when in Jesmond x Fab goats cheese pizza plus mixed side salad with tiramisu and lemon white chocolate roulade washed down with Peroni and Azvex IPA. Lovely clean, safe, comfortable and airy restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating and laid back music choice. Cant speak more highly of the staff who were sooooo welcoming, friendly and helpful - great service and nothing a bother. Very much looking forward to another return visit in the future x

I've been to this restaurant quite a few times and today it was so disappointing to say that from the welcome its self everything was so horrible what happened to your brand standards ?? The manager (Luca) how was there on the floor didn't have any clue what proper customer service is ( worst attitude, no smile like hes serving free food ). We came for a meal as it was my mom's birthday. This isn't mc donalds or KFC. Not cheap food served in here . We've been waiting here around 35 min no body came into take the order, once I've seen a member of staff I've questioned him regarding the lateness . He was a nice guy with good attitude but I've clearly seen him struggling alone on the dining area serving all other customers. Leter I've been told that it was massively understaffed specially on a Friday night ??? Me being a restaurant GM I know how things operate in this industry. But this was one of the worst experiences we had and you guys completely ruined my mom's birthday meal.

Pizza 'Express' is generous, you should expect to receive your food within 3-5 business days. The food took so long I believed it was actually imported from Italy. After waiting about an hour, the chef was asked whether he had put our food in the oven yet, to which he replied with a look that seemed to say "what's pasta?" The cooking was one thing, the service was another. Our server promised us that he'd finish setting our table, yet the last two sets of cutlery obviously proved elusive to him as two of our party were seemingly expected to eat with their fingers. Worse, the tables around us were left uncleared for 45 minutes to an hour and practically an entire pizza was left to sit whilst the servers went on little side quests. Eventually, we just left having waited an egregious amount of time.

Went at 8:45 to the restaurant, however wasn’t let in to eat and lady was quite rude saying they weren’t accepting even though there were 15+ tables free , it says the restaurant is open until 10 so very confused but very bad customer service the way she spoke to us.

Convenient location with dedicated free parking in a busy area. Waiting staff are pleasant and helpful. Food is generally good, although sadly Pizza Express is showing its age when compared to more 'authentic' pizza places which have came about more in the last 10 years. However you know what you are getting here and it is consistent. Dependable.

Aww man, this was a tough one. I honestly think I got them on a bad day. The table next to us was not cleaned down and we were placed next to it. The voucher we had could not be used because my partner and myself were on the same table. If we say separately it would have worked out. We got pizzas and they brought out pasta instead of what I ordered. To fix this they didn't charge me for my food. When mine arrived the pizza was bigger than the plate. It was absolutely delicious. The staff were really friendly and lovely. They made sure we were happy and this was appreciated. I would go back. The food was amazing and the staff tried.

I've ordered online from Pizza Express twice. Both times food was delivered well over an hour late and nowhere near the quality you'd get eating inside the restaurant.

In Spain they have a olive oil law the oil must be in a original bottle,like spirits here.the oil was horible.pizza was fine/bland american with anchovies .the staff are nice .

Pizza was like cardboard when it arrived . Freezing with barely any cheese on. Expected a lot better but dissapointed overall. Won’t be returning

Great food but a bit too expensive for my liking.

No problem with a standard pizza express - service fine and helpful, pizza as expected. But in future please inform customers parking in the car park that they need a permit so they avoid getting hit with a £60 fine.

Brilliant service, honestly the BEST pizza express experience I have had... if not the best service I have ever had. The pizzas were incredible, and I mean incredible, so to the two lads working today.. hats off was truly the best pizza I have had since going to Italy! Visited here the other night and had a lovely evening! Me and my fiancé both ordered starters and mains and the food was fantastic! We were served by carmen who made us feel very welcome, she gave us some great recommendations and was particularly attentive. The service and the food combined was memorable, this can be rare to find in a chain restaurant. We will certainly be back.

My parents and I had an absolutely lovely dinner here back in late December. The food was amazing (as always) and we were blown away by the service by Shabba. He truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we had everything we needed! Looking forward to going there again!

Super friendly staff. Shabbar was an absolute delight. Told us to download app for 50% off our pizzas but as we're traveling the app wasn't available in our app store so he gave us the discount anyways. Totally didn't have to do that and we were most grateful. Food was delicious and great value to boot. Highly recommended.

Do not recommend ordering delivery from this restaurant. The Uber driver was waiting well over 40 minutes for the food to be ready. The food wasn’t even the best quality when it arrived. The dips included with the dough balls were barely filled and the pizza sizes were not the size you get in store. Not good serving sizes at all for the price. It seems like this restaurant can’t keep up with the demand of both sit in customers and delivery orders so they shouldn’t really offer it.
