First time here, service was outstanding and food was amazing, will definitely be back.

What a complete disappointment !!! I was looking forward to eating here after reading the 5 star reviews. Food came along sporadically after choosing what we fancied off the menu and ready to place an order we were only then told that 5 items weren’t available. The sushi platter came and had 12 pieces on it at a cost of nearly £30 I’m not joking they were tiny, the salt and pepper squid arrived without any salt pepper or chilli on, the beef skewers arrived cold. Staff were polite but not very attentive, empty plates left on the table and not cleared away before next items arrived, had to order more drinks multiple times as the staff hadn’t told the bartender. With a restaurant with probably 40 tables and only 9 having customers the staff couldn’t cope 2 servers and 1 bartender and only 1 chef food was taking an absolute age to come out. After spending nearly £300 for five people to eat such a small amount of food. I will not be taking the family back there anytime soon, so so so disappointing

Heard it from a friend, I always wanted to try. Went here on Saturday Evening, looked busy and beautiful, starting from the food never been a fan of asian food before but the food here is delish, the staff were so helpful, wasnt sure what to order as it was our first time here Mr.Tejas helped us choosing food and looked after us throughout the night. Definitely coming back. Great service and food.

The food was really good and the staff were nice… HOWEVER… the service was soooooo slow and there were two waiters for the whole resteraunt. I can’t believe how long it takes to make an order. I felt bad for the staff because clearly they are understaffed but it’s not acceptable and they shouldn’t be open. There were three other tables complaining when I was because of the lack of staff and wait on service.

Viraj took care of us well and the food and atmosphere was excellent Love the music and cherry blossom and the tempura soft shell crab a delight

Just been there last night. Nice and helpful staff. The decoration was gorgeous accompanied by ambient music. The service was fast, the food was fantastic and very well presented. The atmosphere was salubrious to enjoy our meal. It made our day. Would definitely come back!

Great restaurant and amazing food!

Goods ok, comes out at silly times. Time inbetween is too long and there was about 5 other couples. Overpriced, staff were swearing and laughing in our faces when we ordering. Terrible service but good is good.

Beautiful restaurant. My partner and I visited Zinnia last year in December for my birthday. I have to say this place exceeded my expectations. We went on a weekday and it was not busy at all, and everything was delicious and fresh. I definitely recommend this place.

The food... amazing!!! The best pork belly I think I've ever had! Everything tasted amazing and the staff were lovely and the place looks absolutely beautiful. So glad we took my partner there for his birthday. Will be day dreaming about that pork belly for a while....

Food is always amazing me and my mum come during lunch always empty but an amazing restruant couldn’t recommend it more

As a treat for mother's day, we thought it would be nice to go to Zinnia's. We had dined at Zinnia's in Southend in the past and enjoyed the food. When we went to book, we were asked to put for a deposit of £80 (£20 per head). When we arrived we were surprised to find a fixed mother's day menu, which meant there was no choice and the main course was a Sunday roast (a strange choice for an Asian restaurant). The charge was £45.95 per head, not including service charge and drinks. We hadn't been told it would be a fixed menu, but understood that we should have checked the website. At this point, we were still looking forward to our meal. The miso soup starter arrived lukewarm. We asked the waiting staff to heat it up, and it came back slightly warmer, but not hot. The next meal before the main was lukewarm at best. For the main course, I had to ask the staff for cutlery, and the gravy came without a serving spoon. Adding to this, the food was still cold and, quite honestly, unappetising. We spoke to the manager, and he said he would cook a fresh main for us and make sure it came back hot. About half an hour later, we got a few bowls back hot while the rest of the food was cold. We left and paid for one meal and drinks. Terrible service, cold food and overpriced. At least the decorations were nice.

Opportunists. Unfortunately our car broke down on the way to our reservation. After 20+ calls and emails to move the reservation back to allow us to get there, no one answered the phone, no email reply but still took our money. Any intentions of going here have been soured. Surely any decent restaurant can answer a phone early on a Saturday evening. If it was a good a restaurant, rely on your food and service, not exploitation.

We called in by chance, not knowing what this restaurant was like. The decor is really nice. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal, everything was really tasty and well presented. I had a fish box, which had a few things in, including a coconut fish curry, some sushi, edamame beans, and other tasty things. We really enjoyed our food, and I thought it was reasonably priced for what you got.

All the food we had was Excellent. This includes the wagyu sliders, sushi platter and pork belly. The beef rendang and fish curry were both very good. Also the spicy chips were amazing. Very pretty and stylish inside, though a bit empty for a Friday night. They had a DJ who played music in the background, very cafe del la mar style. Staff were attentive, but service was a bit slow sometimes.

We were visiting Chelmsford and we were on the hunt for a place with a romantic atmosphere kinda intimate and nothing really prepared us for Zinnia is a beautiful restaurant with incredible vibes. We came for dinner at around 19:00 on a Friday night the place was in the process of getting busy and to be honest reading the review a little bit worried about the service and the food. But to be honest we didn't encounter any of the issues that were listed in other comments. The food is medium to good some of the sushi rolls weren't what we expected but we came across some other options that honestly blow us away I'm talking about the Korean beef ribs and it also goes very well with some stir fry vegetables and probably the rice would be great with it too. The beef and chilli volcano really wasn't what we were looking for. It feels like a combination of a deep fried sushi roll and a beef tartare that's how I would describe it. We also try - Tuna Tataki. - Dragon Roll. - Salmon avocado roll. - Beef skewers. Thank you to the whole team for looking after us we will be back hopefully soon! Everyone was very helpful the service was quick and efficient.

A fabulous treat for my birthday. I've never been here before and never eaten this type of cuisine before. The food was so tasty and done perfectly. The ambience with the fake cherry blossom trees was beautiful transporting you to Japan. The toilets were exceptional too and very clean. The service from Shelby our waitress was exceptional, she went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, gave us information on the dishes and even brought out a small dessert with a candle in it and happy birthday written on the plate. The whole experience was a truly amazing one. I would highly recommend calling in here. We came along to dine Sunday lunchtime so it is much quieter then but that's what I loved about it.

The place was lovely, decor was amazing , the service we got from Shelby was great the whole way through she really had a passion for the restaurant, nothing seemed to much to ask from her , food was lovely definitely a place to visit for a special occasion.

We came here on a date, The food was absolutely delicious, the service was above and beyond. Alicia and Tejas were absolutely brilliant. We will be coming back again.

We recently visited Zinnia for lunch, we found the menu offered a diverse range of dishes and eventually settled for the chicken bento box. We were not disappointed, the flavours were fantastic and the dish was beautifully presented. Our waitress, (I believe her name was Iksheta) provided a lovely service, her friendly demeanour added a warm touch to the overall dining experience. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of Asian cuisine in the Chelmsford area. We’ll definitely be returning for another delightful meal in the future!

The atmosphere is amazing. 😻 my review will be updated once I actually indulge in the food but the choices look delicious and flavorful. We made reservations for a table of 8 and when we got in, they had a hard time finding a well lit place to sit with a good view

Food was OK but the service was absolutely shocking, it felt like none of the staff wanted to be there or actually do anything (highlight of the poor service was having to ask for a desert menu and then literally having them thrown on the table with no words at all ). There was obviously no one in charge and the staff had no idea as to which table had ordered what ( watched our food and drink try to be delivered to numerous tables) The restaurant could also do with actually turning the heating up,as quite a few people were sat wearing their coats for their meals.

Great foods and service, nice decor , seen a lot of couple came in for dates :) live dj but shame as it started when we were leaving the restaurant.

I do not usually leave reviews but I honestly thought that this place was so poor that I couldnt not leave one. We were really looking forward to eating at this beautiful restaurant, but we were really disappointed by the poor service we received the minute we arrived. The front of house staff seemed like they really didn’t want to be there as they couldn’t have been less interested in attending to the small number of tables they had. They hid in the kitchen and it was difficult to ger their attention. The manager was no better, and he was totally clueless. Don’t bother eating here if you are gluten free either as there is nothing GF available at all or that can be adapted. We thought this was very weird for a place promoting high end sushi which we regular have when we go out for dinner. It left us wondering if they even have a sushi chef in the kitchen or whether the food is pre-prepared….? I gave Zinnia one star due to its elegant cherry blossom tree décor but that’s all it has going for it, don’t bother.

Place was like a freezer, the food was ok but heavy on the salt. The service was terrible in terms of food coming out. Some people in our party had finished their food for half an hour before others had even got anything. Then starters were coming out with mains, items were missing. It wasn't cheap and you would expect more for that price

I took my mum to Zinnia for her birthday. The service and food were absolutely incredible. The staff were lovely, particularly the lovely girl on reception who offered to take our photos and also the manager (we think!) who was absolutely lovely . The staff surprised us with a complimentary dessert for my mum and singing happy birthday to her too. The food was delicious, and well priced for the quality of our meals. Could not fault the restaurant, amazing staff, beautiful scenery and outstanding food. Thank you to all the staff working tonight.

Overpriced - after asking for water 3 times one of our Group went and got it herself; food is still interesting but service has dropped since they opened - and background music now loud enough to prevent you talking across the table

A friend and I had lunch outside at Zinnia last Saturday and had lovely time. We were greeted by Katie who is very professional and personable. The service was impeccable and the food excellent, with nice ambient music. All around a perfect Saturday lunch felt like being on holiday.

We had a lovely anniversary dinner here. Our waiter George was incredibly attentive and ensure it was a special dinner experience. We had a lovely surprise at the end with George bringing out an anniversary dessert and candle

Beautiful place and wonderful staff! My partner and I had such an amazing time, the whole service was also exceptional, this is the best place we have been in Chelmsford and we found it accidentally. We were served by the most sweetest lady called Rebecca who was so catering to us and it’s just what you need for an enjoyable evening x

So over priced! For sharing plates they are so tiny yet the same price as a meal! Not worth the hype or the Instagram pick. Also awful accommodation for Gluten free - no gluten free soy sauce and no understanding of the allergy!!!

Having visited various incarnations of this venue, the current one stands out as my favorite. The decor is elegant, and the high-end club vibe is matched by mellow beats. Service was attentive and warm. Food was tasty and well presented. The Wagyu beef sliders were my fav. While the addition of a cloakroom service would be welcome, it’s a minor point in an otherwise superb experience. Nothing quite like it in Chelmsford. Look forward to my next visit.

Claudia, our waitress was very efficient and attentive. She made sure that we were well taken care of with a coeliac allergy, she even brought us gluten free soy sauce. Our first time there and we’ll be back for more.

Food was not only beautifully presented but tasted really great as well. Portion sizing was excellent and really great drinks. Service and staff were the most attentive we have had in a long time, even when it got very busy. There was also a Music Technician (DJ) who was on site that made an excellent job of setting the ambiance that we really loved the music enhanced our dining experience. Not only this, but they made it such a special night for us as they allowed us to do our engagement there, making it one of our memorable moments as a couple. We cannot thank all of the staff and Music Technician enough, who changed the music when our proposal was made. Afterwards they came and congratulated us as well. We are so grateful to them and look forward to coming back again in the future.

Amazing food. All dishes tried were delicious. Great atmosphere. I have to say something wrong I would say that the bar man looked lost. He brought drinks twice and also wrong drinks to our table which wasn’t an issue for us. Highly recommended. We will be back

The restaurant has really nice decor. We have been there last weekend. In my opinion, the food is 4/5 and the services is good.

Beautiful decor, lovely food and decent cocktails! We came early on a Saturday evening so did lack in atmosphere but that was our fault booking a 6pm slot. Am returning with my partner and will book a later table so hopefully atmosphere will be better. A suggestion of sax or live music on a Saturday evening I think could turn this restaurant into one of the decent London ones.

Prawn & Lobster Toast is amazing!

I had the wonderful evening catching up with friends ..The food was outstanding, the resturant is so pretty and is so well presented. The waiting staff could not do enough for us, and was very knowledgeable about all of the dishes . Gluten free and dairy free options were not a problem either. Cannot wait to visit here again. Its great to have somewhere like this in Chelmsford.

Just had an afternoon tea and some lunch for our anniversary. The quality of the food was fantastic as was the service from Dan. We will definitely recommend and come back again.

We had high expectations but left disappointed. Food average at best. Too much sauce on the green and crab ‘volcanos’ and pork massively over seasoned. The best elements were the tuna (zero skill required to place on a bed of ice) and the wine (Borolo). Staff seemed confused throughout with a number of tables receiving the wrong orders. Trying to be Hakkasan and coming short.

Excellent service by Tejas last week. He was very polite and willing to help us with any of the menu’s options. The food was of a good quality.

Shocking experience. Dishes came out one at a time, from 3 mins to 6 mins between dishes. There were 7 of us, so we all ate at different times. The plates were cold so the food was barely warm. Very overpriced for what you got. Never again.

We attended Zinnia on Friday evening as a large group. We found the staff members to be rude when requesting basic things, to be seated earlier was one of them.. the restaurant at this time was empty and our table was booked. Awful service, unable to get drinks without a half an hour wait. Never seen such a bad service for an upmarket venue. If you’re looking for a good night there are many other places to go. None of us would go here again.

Not one for leaving bad reviews but unfortunately our first experience of Zinnia was far from our expectations. The food itself was satisfactory for the price however the service we received for our 10 person table was nonexistent. No drinks order taken unless prompted , no check-backs and almost an hour between our final courses despite ordering the 4-set course meal. Despite ordering the 4 course meal, they brought out a dish which was not on our menu, we told the waiter and they said it was a mistake and took it off our bill. When our final steak course came, 2/5 were presented on cold salt blocks but with no attention to the table, we didn’t get a chance to rectify it. We also received no rice with the steak which was stated on the menu. The waiter apologised, offering us a free drink. 30mins later just 3 drinks arrived for our table of 10 which of course they added to the bill at the end. Waited 30 mins for the bill and they also had not taken off our £100 deposit off the menu, service charge removed. 3 rectified bills later we paid £63 per head. Hard to see us returning.

First visit here. Beautiful setting and the menu is brilliant. So much choice. The gyoza were delicious, chicken skewers tasty but neither hot nor cold. Spicy chips delicious and very hot. Tempura Soft shell crab was lovely and the nasi goreng a huge portion. Service was ok, waitress just put food down anywhere rather than asking who it was for, and a bit of a wait paying the bill but it was a Saturday night. Would go again but the prices are quite high. Was £200 for 4 of us but we did have a bottle of wine.

Such a lovely place, enjoyed every single second ! Amazing food and really professional members of staff ! Highly recommended !
