3rd Visit In 18 months Here , My birthday treat this time. And nothings Changed. Food Quality Fantastic & Lots Of It. Again Went up stairs to the Arm chairs & table setting Area ,This is an old school, Turn Arts Center & Community Hub. All ways seems a lot going on. but didn't disturb us. 3 selection of Finger sandwiches, 2-3 selection of cakes & of course warm scones. Top up of the tea pot when we need it, Son had a Hot Chocolate. During the week i think 2 sittings, 12pm & 2 or 2.30pm. Toilets & Disable / Lifts Available, with Plenty Of Parking. Price has gone up slightly But stile well/well Worth it. I'll be going back again. The Only Thing Is I Would Like Them to do Gift Vouchers. I Think The Old Generation Would Like It.

As part of the Vintage Steam Train package we were booked into Zinc for our Cream Tea. It is an interesting venue with a history back to 1901 as a Victorian school. It is now a community centre with all sorts of activities and a lovely, comfortable, light and airy upstairs lounge where we enjoyed our Cream Tea. Freshly baked scones and cakes and lots of tea. Friendly, attentive and informative staff. Well-worth a visit.

If your after a simple lunch or snack then this is a good place to visit. The food is good for the price, there's always a choice of freshly baked cakes. The cream teas are particularly good value but need to be booked in advance. There is also free parking but this can be limited at busy times. They also only have two high chairs which can be a problem.

2nd Visit this year. We went here first back in January & it was our first afternoon tea. And what an experience. We've tried 3-4 at other establishments & at a higher price, but Zinc cafe wins by miles. This is in an old school turn Cafe/Arts centre, again we went up stairs to the softer seats. sandwiches were very very good & cakes & scones, As much tea as you can drink. Staff very helpful & attentive. at the time there was something going on down stairs a Arts gallery i think. Lots of parking outside. toilets & Lift also available here. We would go back again with out doubt. Needs 24hrs notice before booking. For the Price You can't buy better.

Excellent afternoon tea today at Zinc Arts charity venue in Ongar. Was told not to dress up, so wasn't sure what to expect! Was seated on the mezzanine floor overlooking the arts centre, lots of people milling about, but didn't disturb us at all. Venue is homely and tea was faultless - gorgeous fresh sandwiches with a variety of delicious fillings ( we booked in advance and specified what we liked). Lovely home baked warm scones with clotted cream and jam, followed by a selection of mostly home baked cakes. Really gorgeous food in a comfortable atmosphere, ably looked after by the excellent staff. Tea was re-filled on request. We had to ask for a doggy bag to take some cakes home as we were so full. All this for £6.50 per head! Brilliant value. They also prepare breakfasts, sandwiches, snacks and daily specials such as Korean chicken, Mac and cheese as well as paninis, coffee and cake. Licensed too.

Very interesting and historic place, great to see it being used for various activities. Couldn't fault the afternoon tea, so much food we had to have doggy bags. Much better fresh sandwiches and scones than some expensive hotels we've been to. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommending to friends and family, and will be returning very soon. Thank you for a very pleasant experience. Certainly wouldn't book through groupon as they take 40%, will book direct.

Went to Ongar to meet an old uni friend and decided to take a look at the facilities at Zinc Arts with myself being quite an arty person. The highlight of the visit was being treated to a pleasant, wholesome lunch. I ordered a BLT and it came with lots of garnish and side options which I personally love. The menu has a lovely homemade vibe to it with lots of healthy eating options. Definitely worth coming here if you're attending the classes at Zinc arts. Plus the money goes to charity which is an added bonus. This is now a go-to place for lunch in Ongar whenever i visit.

Just had afternoon tea at Zinc Rooms. Good variety of sandwiches, cakes and scones and plenty of it. Tea was also bottomless and we were served very well by Sarah. We all came home with a doggie bag as there were plenty of cakes left over. All the produce was very fresh and pleasantly served. We had vouchers from Groupon and paid £8 each for tea with glass of Prosecco and it was £6.25 without. Would book direct with Zinc next time as the prices are the same and they get all the money whereas Groupon take 40%. Would definitely recommend this little gem to all and well worth a visit. The cafe also has daily specials chalked on their board.

After reading some of the reviews before we went I was surprised that the place was so cold and we had to keep our coats on. The cake, although fresh, was lacking in flavour, and the latte coffee tasted very second rate.

Took my friend for her birthday for a very nice afternoon tea. Unfortunately, they only had coffee from the jar but other than that the sandwiches, scones and cakes were all lovely and fresh and tasty and there was plenty to eat with plenty of choice.

So I'm on my third date with this man. I thought he was the one, but after this evening spent at this café he told me "I'm too clingly" and that I need to "Relax for a bit"! Who does he think he is! Telling a single mother of 5 to RELAX! HOW DARE HE! I have been alone for 3 years and I though I had found the man of my dreams, the kids absolutely loved him but NO apparently falling in love at first sight doesn't exist anymore! I tried my hardest to please him. Every date we went on I had to hire 2 babysitters to look after the kids, so not only did I have to pay for my meal but I also had to pay for 2 babysitters 3 TIMES! Even when I offered a quiet date at my house, while the kids where at school, he declined saying it "Wasn't very romantic" I am trying to live my life and I thought he would want to join me on that! A lonely man like that would just have to marry me and already have five kids to look after, no work needed! But no apparently he's too good for that. Anyway, food was lovely and service was welcoming. I will be coming back with my 5 kids instead of a selfish nobody!

The food in this country side cafe is delicious and reasonable. I ordered a No. 2 and recommend that to everyone who needs a balance of meat and carbs. The staff is very friendly and interactive. It's a small cafe with good vibes and ambience to take a break in or to visit when you have reached Abridge cycling or long distance running. Surrounded by vast green lands it has an inner seating with a deck for dogs just outside. Just adjacent to the cafe there is a nursery with a huge variety of plants too. Food is mainly English breakfast and sandwiches 🥪.

Me and 3 members of my family came here for a breakfast and it is truly a nice place to eat, there is a nice atmosphere and a wonderful smell when you enter. Our food was delicious and we definitely would come back. Even though we came from about 45 minutes away and it was worth the drive. My food was about £9.50 and it really did fill me up. Tip - if there is no parking spots at the restraint park at the pub next door. You will have to pay £2 though for parking.
