A really lovely place We normally have a breakfast which is delicious. The two ladies that run it are very friemdly and helpful. ..always very welcoming. And I have to say the cafe is child friendly. We'll done ladies!😍

Wow. Everything was perfect. Great food. Perfect poached egg. Fresh. Delicious. Great atmosphere. Really, really friendly staff. I spent Thursday morning working on my laptop. Had 3 coffees and a LOVELY breakfast and only spent £15 something. Has a lot of regulars who they treat great. That is saying something. I heartily recommend this place.

The ladies catered for our friends funeral, it was an excellent afternoon tea with top class home bakes delicious sandwiches, savouries and great attention to detail. All at a v reasonable price.

Visited this establishment this afternoon..ordered a simple order of 2 x teas and 2 x sausage sandwiches. The teas came within 5 minutes and the sandwiches took nearly 30 minutes !!! Needless to say the teas were cold by then...and the sausage was not of a good quality at all. In fact rather cheap quality to say the least at £4.95 each. When this was brought to the owners attention, she became argumentative and said we've been very busy.... Well.... please get some more staff then.. There was one lady cook and the lady herself who was front of house.... more staff needed one thinks !!!!! A poor experience all round... and won't be going back anytime soon....

Lovely coffee shop and gorgeous food. Had a delicious tuna melt tosstie and it felt very relaxed. Felt safe with covid precautions in place too. I'd definitely come back!

Lovely place, friendly and accommodating staff, nice menu with good choices, the breakfasts looked especially good. I had a lovely mug of coffee, check out the picture of the little novelty milk jug, and a scone with cream and jam, which was a larger than average scone and very delicious. Nice clean cafe with an inviting feel. Will return.

Lovely family lunch. My wife, my 2 year old son and I had toasted sandwiches that were tasty and arrived quickly (ideal as we didn't have long before we had to catch the train back). Service was exemplary, friendly staff, all smiling (behind masks of course) and completed our requests for a high chair and extra sauce with pleasure. When we go back to Ongar we will not hesitate to stop off for a bite to eat. Latte was lovely too!! Thank you

I enjoyed a nice lunch here yesterday, a tasty Tuna melt with some salad on the side. The tables were a good distance apart and Covid compliant. The staff were polite and helpful.

In these difficult times, you never know quite what you are going to find in even the most genteel of places as Chipping Ongar certainly is. We were fortunate to pick Nerissa and Claire's. COVID-safe measures are meticulously in place. The service is warm and excellent. The menu is good and the place is visibly clean. We both had Croque Madame which was very well executed and presented. The sandwich came with a good salad and skin-on fries and was good value. My one word of caution is that the sandwich contains mustard - it says so on the menu - which was well-judged for me but might not be to everyone's taste. I did not agree with the closure of the toilet; I never do on principle and based on personal need. However, in this case, there is a well kept public facility very nearby and a notice to that effect in the cafe. This is most certainly a place to go in Chipping Ongar although seating is, of course, limited at the moment. There is one table outside also.

Friendly staff and good honest food. Prices are what you would expect for a small independent tea room, so relatively reasonable depending on what you go for. The seating area is small and ca be awkward to navigate with a pushchair/wheelchair, so be warned. Parking across the street is easy enough, but be prepared to pay for this.

Really good breakfasts. Went with friends and we all enjoyed our choices. Disappointed no waffles available. Was told there was no waffle mix? Had to ask for knifes and forks and bit of a wait for some of us as breakfasts didn’t all arrive together but without a doubt the best eggs Benedict I’ve had.

Called in after an early ferry from France en route back up to the North West, detouring off the motorway. Fantastic breakfast. Lots of choice, good sized portions and reasonably priced. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to make it a great experience. Would definitely put it on the map for future trips in the area!

Very nice cakes , tea and other foods

We had a lovely lunch, staff very welcoming and good reasonable prices. Would recommend to anyone and especially if you have toddlers, they have children's cutlery and crockery - a godsend when unexpectedly eating out!!

Traveled up to Ongar on the steam train and found this place a very short walk away. The staff were very welcoming, lots of big smiles and very attentive. Food was simple but well prepared and presented nicely. The portions were also very generous.

Popped in for breakfast was met by a friendly girl, who took our order. Chose lighter breakfast which was very filling! Our food was great quality, piping hot and beautifully presented. Fantastic value, and we will definitely visit again!

Decent fry up after a wedding nearby the previous day.

Great food and service. My office goes every Friday and would highly recommend. If your feeling really hungry try the club sandwich.

Visited for breakfast with my wife this morning and found that everything has improved since last visited. It has always been very good but now I think perfect. My wife and I had the pot of Earl Grey for two and the light breakfast each. The young girl who served us was brilliant, lively, welcoming and very very cheerful. The food was first class as was the tea. The price was surprisingly good for the food. Well done.

Great food, enormous portions with exemplary service!

Although I live in the town this was my first visit. This was the first occasion my group had used N&C, our normal restaurant had a fire. We were most pleased the standard of the food and the staff were most pleasant. I did not see the normal menu but I understand there are dishes to suit most tastes.

Good clean food served quickly but not hurried. Recommend.

Popped in to escape from a traffic jam and really glad I did. Late Sunday morning, quite busy but waitress appeared quickly with menu and ensure table was clean. Bit of a wait for the food but well worth it. All freshly prepared and hot. Very reasonable prices and wash room facilities were good. Highly recommended.

This restaurant has a good selection of hot and cold lunches and tea/ coffees, the service is good and the food is of a good standard. My only criticism is that the space is a Little restrictive, especially if you have a push chair

We were in Ongar to catch a bus to go on the Santa Express steam train and had reserved a table to have lunch. We were met at the door with a friendly smile and shown to our table. There were a couple of options for the menu and we all choose from the festive one. I had a turkey, stuffing and cranberry club sandwich which was very large and tasted great, my son had a bacon sandwich which he thoroughly enjoyed. Very good coffee.

Been going here since it opened. At least once a week for three years. Excellent service. Impeccably clean. Consistently good food. Always gutted they have to have a day off and are closed on Mondays. Outrageous! 😉 Would highly recommend over other places if you are looking for a quick bite in the vicinity.

Didn't meet Nerissa or Claire but for a cyclist the location was spot on. 2 flat whites were.....flat and white 👌 Bonus points for saying the juice in my drinks bottle smelt nice. Would coffee again.

The welcome was polite and friendly and the cafe was clean, light and airy. We ordered an Americano that was average, not the full flavour I have come to expect, and the latte like the Americano was only average.

Very good hospitality / coffee / bacon sandwich, coffee was luke warm and they don't open till 10am on Sunday,other wise Ok , will visit again.

I have used this cafe many times and always been happy to return. Today I entered at 3pm for a sandwich to be told they don't serve food after 3pm and the kitchen is closed. How difficult would it have been to make me a sandwich? Fortunately there are other places in the High Street happy to serve customers.

We dropped in for breakfast on our way to the nearby secret nuclear bunker. Lovely place. Quirky album covers from an eclectic mix of artist (for a fun nostalgia trip) on the walls. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient. They have gluten free bread and a request for the light breakfast to be GF was treated as completely normal. Service was fast and the food fab. A pleasant flow of other customers gave the place a lovely feel. We will visit again, when we are in this neck of woods.

Clean and tidy but had a very long wait for 2 scrambled eggs on toast. It was nice but the waiting was far to long .

Was lured in by the smell of bacon. It didn't disappoint. Bacon and egg sandwich hit the spot. Along with a lovely pot of loose leaf tea.

My family and I stopped here for lunch the other day. What a friendly place! We had coffee and lunch. Our order was delivered promptly, with a smile. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. There is plenty of seating, arranged in tables of two, three or four.

Popped into Nerissa and Claire's on Sunday morning for a coffee and bite to eat. Nice friendly welcome and good service. My homemade fruit scone with jam and cream was fresh out of the oven and tasted delicious. Jam was a one person jar of Wilkin & Sons of Tiptree strawberry with an individual portion of Rodda's clotted cream and a very nice latte to go with it. With it's fresh and pretty lilac décor, attentive young staff and very tempting menu, Nerissa and Claire's is a little gem in Ongar High Street.

Visited as a stop on a bike ride. Decent coffee and a good big scone, jam and cream. (I felt I deserved it.). Pleasure understated ambience.

We recently had Sunday lunch here and were delighted that we'd chosen this cosy venue for the eight of us dining that day. The food was really tasty, good sized portions, reasonable cost and efficient and friendly staff.

We called in whilst walking around Ongar. I’ve been a resident for 18 years and never been in before. We decided to call in for a Coffee, Bacon Sandwich and a Scone with Clotted Cream with Jam, all of which was delicious.

I have been here many times with my cycling group and trust me we know a thing or two about cafes in the area and I can say with confidence this is one of the Best!

Great little café. Quite traditional tea, toast and fry-ups led menu with breakfasts served until 11.30.

Very restricted choice of cakes and no biscuits or tea read available . There are so few places in Ongar for coffee I think they could try a bit harder.

I came to this restaurant with my mum and dad the other day, and although it was full, we managed to find a table which was relatively clean. There was one waitress who explained that she was working on her own, and would get the tables wiped as soon as possible after people arrived. She never seemed stressed, and remained cheerful and friendly throughout. We only ordered coffee, but the food looked really nice, so I'm sure I'll visit again, especially because of the music memorabilia on the walls.

We popped along to Nerissa and Claires because Ashlyns Farm had no heating.

Myself and a friend visited for the first time for breakfast. Good service, friendly staff, nice coffee and tasty Full English. By about 10:30am it was full so it's obviously popular - will definitely return!
