Zim Braai in Bournemouth

Wow! What a great experience we had on our first visit. The restaurant was clean and decorated beautifully. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was incredible and we will definitely be back again. A special mention to our waitress Emily who went above and beyond to make sure our visit was pleasant, thank you so much Emily you made us feel very welcome, you were friendly, professional and took good care of us. Thank you all and merry Christmas.

Best spontaneous decision for drinks with my Bestie. Amazing choice of drinks, manager Nuno introduced us with Xmas cocktails menu, served him self with great jokes and we felt soo welcome. Definitely recommending to my Friends, and looking forward to bringing my Family for dinner here. Thank you for great service. 🥰🥰🥰

Zim Braii has been our favourite restaurant for a few years, and as we’re not local we have fantasised over it for some time before revisiting. The restaurant we used to go to has since closed, along with the Bournemouth branch and they’ve merged the two together. I had the sweet potato curry which was to die for and my partner had the beef curry which he absolutely loved. Our favourite dish used to be the chicken skewers with the special zim sauce, but when we ordered it, it just wasn’t the same, which was such a shame, but was still good. We still had a lovely meal and would most likely return if in the area.

Went for my birthday dinner and had the mixed grill which was divine! Lauren took great care of us throughout the evening and made the most delicious cocktail. Would recommend for sure and will be back soon!

We happened upon Zim quite by chance, we were looking for somewhere to eat and Zim just stood out to us immediately. We read the menu first, discovered it had an African vibe to it so popped in and so glad we did! The food was beautiful - I had the Zulu steak medium rare and it was one of the most perfectly cooked steaks I have had recently. Service was great, it was especially nice as the staff took the time to talk to us, Nuno especially was attentive as was the female waitress. We ended up staying longer listening to the music and just enjoying the general African vibe of the restaurant. Would definitely recommend - especially if you are diary intolerant as my husband is - 95% of the food is diary free! It made it so easy to order food. The cocktails are lovely too!

Such an amazing experience at the Zim Braai . My friend and I were in Bournemouth for the weekend and we were so compelled by the restaurant exterior and the lovely live music vibes that we wanted to try it. The main host Nuno served us a full journey , by explaining us the whole restaurant concept and by recommending us the best dishes. Indeed, everything we had was excellent and you could feel the freshness of the ingredients used. Cocktail were also nicely made and the Espresso martini was to die for 🤤! It was such an outstanding experience and the team, led by the amazing Nuno, made it even more special. Indeed, I will definitely be back on my next trip to Bournemouth ☺️

I chose to hold my birthday dinner here on Friday night as the Manager Nuno has always looked after us so well at the Ashley Cross site. We were a mixed group of friends and family and as a large party we had the African feast. One member of the party doesn't eat red meat and she was catered for superbly. There was a great choice of starters to include salad, prawns chicken and then tasty mains of whole fish, curries and meats. We were looked after superbly by Kyle who I subsequently learnt had only recently joined the team. We all had such an excellent time and I am just about to book a table for later in the month.

The service is absolutely terrible. At our arrival, the terrace tables were all dirty (the restaurant was almost emtpy both inside and outside). At some point one of the waitress came and wiped the empty ones but not ours. The starters were alright, but the main not that good. First they got one of the dips wrong, they offered it on the house which was alright. Then we realized there was no ostritch steak on the mixed grill sharer and when we told one of the waitresses, she sent another one who at first ‘questioned’ us, later realizing herself that there is indeed no ostritch steak on the platter. Furthermore, the platter comes with unlimited fries but we have been left waiting for ages for fries which never arrived - we waited for so long that one of the waitresses asked us if we were finished even though we’ve asked multiple times about the fries - at this point the food was stone cold and we just wanted to get out of there. The service is absolutely in shambles. It seems that the staff has no experience and one of them (seemed like the ‘boss’ as she was the one sent to question us about the missing steak) was too preocupied serving her student mates and sitting at their table talking with them than taking care of customers. Will definitely never return here. The food is nothing but decent and the service is terrible. Taking in account the restaurant was almost empty, there is absolutely no excuse for the waiting staff to get so many things wrong, forget about orders and so on.

The food was delicious, service by Loren was outstanding, she was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant has a lovely welcoming atmosphere, would definitely dine here again!
