Funki Griller Steak & Seafood Grillhouse and Cocktail Bar in Bournemouth

Would recommend not coming here. I asked for well done rib eye steak and it was still pink I tried to eat it but was also really hard chewy and hard. I told waitress when she asked if we finished I said we had but I couldnt eat steak as was still pink and asked for well done and she just said sorry lol didn’t offer take to take it off the bill or offer to make me another. Paid 22 pound for portion or chips. I may aswel of stayed at home for Valentine’s Day

Great service lovely steaks! One of the best pina colada’s I ever ever had and also the most beautiful espresso too :) Our steaks were delicious and the peppercorn sauce was yummy! Really enjoyed our visit.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely time celebrating valentines a day early. The staff were very friendly and helpful with their recommendations and the food was divine. We will endeavour to come back every time we visit Bournemouth.

The place has an amazing atmosphere and the staff were really friendly, funny and helpful. We could see the steaks being prepared, they were perfectly cooked and tasted phenomenal. Sauces were good too. We were just sad that we were too full for dessert.

Wow ! We felt like we were on holiday the place is stunning with live music on this particular night ( Saturday ) the food to die for… best steak we have ever had ! The servers were so attentive and catered to our every need and so lovely ! The ambience the staff the food were above and beyond will be returning regularly and very well priced !

The “Griller Cam” was very poplar with our children watching food being cooked! Was a fun dining experience, really clean and an overall great dining experience.

Staying in Bournemouth for work. Been ac while since I last visited so used Google for recommendations. So glad I found this place. The food was excellent as were the service team.

Amazing food, allergy friendly (I have a citrus, peanut and seafood allergy). The food was well priced for the quality and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. The lighting isn’t harsh but a more yellow tone which makes the experience very relaxed. My favourite steak place in the south by far.

A friend and I went for a Sunday roast here yesterday and all I can say is wow. Genuinely the best roast I’ve had out anywhere (and I’ve had quite a few) very generous portions, Yorkshire pudding as standard, veg served on the side and extra gravy without even asking!! Fabulous service, good price and happy tummy's all round. We will definitely be returning and I highly recommend trying the roasts here!! 🥰

Quite disappointed with our visit this time. We ordered the spatchcock chicken for the three of us, server returned saying sorry didn't have any, but did have Butterfield breast of chicken, we said that's ok. Just spoilt the evening thought as the chicken wasn't tender ! Will give F/G another try as we like the atmosphere there. Maybe Steak next time. If you have removed the Spatch/chicken from your menu, Maybe remove from printed menu saving disappointment after ordering

It was a really pleasant experience at Funki Griller, they do have glutenfree options as well. I tried the Pork Belly and Fillet as well as choco brownie and all was very exquisit (gosh the fries were soooooo good, super hot and crispy which I love plus they are made in a separate fryer). Tasted awesome and was worth the price. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere quite cosy as well. Can definitely recommend! In terms of improvements, my friends were having the cheese cake and in comparison to other places that do cheesecake it didn't blew them away (very dense, not super fluffy). I was also sad that they couldn't tell if the hot choco was GF or not. If these could be improved, it would be great! Otherwise really good place, definitely recommend giving it a try!

Been to Funki Griller at least 6/7 times. Sometimes on my own, sometimes to celebrate with friends for a graduation. I've honestly enjoyed my experience every single time, tasty steak cooked to my liking. Tried the sirloin, ribeye, tomahawk. All very good. 2x better value than Miller & Scammers! The staff are competent and friendly, and serve me with a warm smile everytime. Cheers!

Stunning steak - the best I have had in a long time. Service was slightly "iffy" - didn't realise that placing the menu down on the seat rather than the table indicates that I was not ready to order yet, however this was firmly corrected by staff....!

Came here new years eve 2024, booked table at 7pm, didn't leave restaurant till 10pm. When arrived we did wait for front of house for about 5 minutes, which we were not mad about since it was a busy night. We were put on a table right in the middle of the restaurant, so all the waitresses and servers kept walking past us with clean and dirty plates. Waiting for drinks and food took at least 10-15 minutes. But we didn't mind since the food was lovely. Mushroom burger was cheesy and succulent, while my partner said his steak was nice. But it did take him a while to chew. Tried bone marrow for the first time, I really liked it but thought it was too salty and maybe less parmasan would of helped. Finished our food and we sat there for 20 minutes for a waitress to take our plates and ask if we wanted to see the dessert menu. But in those 20 minutes they sat down at least another 5 tables around us. The singer sang two sets and was already on his second break. I kinda blamed the seating since the servers walked past us 100 times, but didn't take any notice due to hands being full and it being new years eve. I did also see a table in front of me actually go up to a waitress and ask if they could take there order since they were waiting for so long. 20 minutes past and a waitress finally came, we ordered drinks while also asking for dessert menu. Waitress left, went to the table next to us, took their dessert menus away then walked and we didn't see her again for 5 more minutes. When dessert menu finally came, we ordered bread and butter pudding, and a ice cream sundae. I found bread and butter pudding mixed, it was a tiny portion, with one half cold and the middle was hot. It came with custard, which was cold. I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes to ask Waitress to warm up custard for me. My partner found his sundae alright but said it was already starting to melt by the time it arrived. Our bill came to £113.50. Which we thought was good value and no service charge added which was a bonus as we didn't think the service was brilliant anyway Overall, drinks and savoury food were great, no complaints. But improvement on dessert and service could be appreciated.

Very busy as you expect prior to Christmas, but good venue and great staff

Excellent restaurant close to the centre. We had the Sunday roast which was probably the best one we've had out before - even the kids enjoyed. Highly recommend this gem!

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was amazing and good value for money. The steaks were cooked to perfection! We will definitely return.

First time to Funki Griller and won't be the last. Food was excellent! Our party of four had steaks and the chicken kebab. We were very early so not huge amount of atmosphere on arrival but by the time we left at just before 7pm it was getting very busy. We will be back!

Our waitress was Aime. She was excellent. The service was quick and it was very simple to order. The steaks were perfect and delicious and fairly priced for what you receive. For a starter we got the pan seared scallops and it was like eating butter; melted in our mouths was gorgeous! For mains we got the two 21oz rump steaks and portabello mushrooms with the chips as sides. Simply fabulous and delicious. We will be going back no doubt. And don't forget to tip.

Was my first time, certainly won't be my last. The food was delicious. The ribeye steak was the highest quality and cooked to perfection. The onion rigs were the best I have ever had. The staff are super friendly and welcoming Can't wait to return

My husband and I shared the platter of which we have had a few times prior now - however this time it was vile - the only way i can describe it is as a plate of gristle. Only to informed that is how the meat should be! I don’t think so. The lamb was fatty and mostly gristle the sirloin was also mostly gristle - no decent meat - the ribs were burnt and I didn’t even attempt the chicken.

Nice Vibe...starter and steak were good. However, I may have ordered the wrong cut of meat. Overall it was okay.

Overall a good experience, just one preference rather than a criticism on the food side, the rack of BBQ ribs was pretty much the same as other restaurants we have eaten at in the past. If you are familiar with the Hussar Grill in Rondebosch, Cape Town, now owned by Spur Group, their ribs are full racks, they provide full length ribs. In UK restaurants they seem to be cut in half length ways passing as a full rack. Also, Hussar Grill par boil their ribs for 20 minutes in their 'Jungle Juice' marinade, which makes them beautifully tender, then they are char-grilled on the fire before serving (the meat almost falls off the bone). I have a copy somewhere I must dig out, of the jungle juice recipe I obtained in South Africa through a connection and would be happy to share it if you are interested. Great restaurant otherwise generally, many thanks for a lovely evening.

We recently visited Funki Griller in Bournemouth, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were asked to wait in the bar area so they could "prepare a table," even though the restaurant was nearly empty, with only two other small groups present. After a 15-minute wait, we were finally seated at a table that had been ready well before we arrived. The service was incredibly slow. It took another 15 minutes before anyone came over to take our drink order, despite the restaurant being almost empty. This set the tone for the rest of our evening. Our starters were mediocre at best. The scallops were drenched in oil, which ruined any flavor they might have had. When it came to the main course, the disappointment only deepened. The Rib Eye steak was comparable to a Wetherspoons flash steak had - cheap quality meat that tasted as if it had been deep-fried or drenched in oil before grilling. The chips, though cooked well, had a stale taste, likely from fryer oil that hadn’t been changed in ages. The side salad we ordered looked and tasted like someone had thrown up on it. The “Peppercorn Sauce” was just gravy and pepper corns. The most concerning part of the evening was the kitchen’s hygiene. There’s a live stream of the kitchen displayed in the restaurant, and we noticed staff preparing raw seafood, steak, and side dishes without cleaning the work surfaces between. The grill looked filthy and appeared as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Given these serious hygiene issues, I’ll be reporting them to the local health authorities. Overall, our experience at Funki Griller was well below any reasonable expectation. Very Poor service, subpar food, and concerning cleanliness issues. To add insult to injury, the bill came to an astonishing £120, which felt diabolical considering the low quality of food, slow service, and poor taste. For what we paid, we expected a far higher standard. This experience left us feeling completely ripped off. Funki Griller was an absolute letdown.

Great food, loved having the choice of a jacket potato and coleslaw with my steak. Steak was cooked to perfection. Friendly service too. Only thing that let it down was an overriding smell, maybe air freshener?, which was awful.

Found this restaurant during a weekend break in Bournemouth and what a find, forget Miller and Carter and try this place. Its buzzing and has a very happy feel. We had x2 steaks on offer and a few pints . A fantastic place to eat

Absolutely outstanding roast dinner. The meat was so tender and tasty the vegetables were amazing. Roast potatoes were crispy and the gravy was to die for highly recommended.

Good food but not great food. I would recommend visiting as the steak is good and service also good. I was greeted quickly on arrival, after waiting for a few minutes ordered my drink and food. 21oz Sirloin - ordered medium rare and it came perfectly cooked and well presented. Served with a tiny portion of chips and with a large steak I was left wanting more and was still a little hungry. I ordered a Jack Daniel’s sauce to accompany the steak but it tasted like a just standard bottled sauce decanted into a jug rather than a home made sauce like I was expecting. At £36 for the steak plus £3.95 for the sauce I felt it didn’t represent good value. However the steak was good. Fresh Passion Fruit Cheesecake: nice enough but appeared to be more ‘fresh’ from the freezer than fresh from the chef (maybe I’m wrong?) Don’t misinterpret me, the meal was lovely and I enjoyed the main course and dessert but at the prices charged I would expect a little more effort, and a few more chips. Still good and so would still recommend. Thank you :)

OMW! Okay so hear me out... I hate a Sunday roast at a pub. The meat is too dry, the gravy is too runny and it's just not good. But today... Today I have found THE perfect Sunday roast Funki Griller The meat is tender, the portion generous and the vegetables perfectly cooked. It is to die for! Compliment to the chef! I now need a wheelbarrow to get me home 😂🤣😂🤣

Absolutely amazing food, beautiful restaurant and friendky staff. My husband and his friend had a steak here on Saturday and raved so much we booked for the following day for the roast and omg it didn't dissapoint. I would recommend this restaurant you really need to try this place AMAZING

Funki griller were at the top of the orchid hotel recommendation list. We trusted them and tried this place. We are glad we did, they really know their job. I can say it was the best steak we have ever eaten. Watching the chef is also a plus! You watch how they prepare your meal for you.

Great fun, great food and great service, what else can you ask for? Doesn't look much from the outside but you won't be disappointed! And there's a special surprise in the toilets 🚻

Very disappointed as this restaurant was recommended to us 4 out of 6 of our steaks were either cold , raw or inedible When we complained we were asked if we would like a free round of drinks to compensate on the condition we paid for the inedible steak …… Sorry I won’t be returning

A fantastic welcoming and amazing service and food, we were a group of 15 which we had no trouble in booking a large table for all. We were met as we arrived and the welcome was warm and friendly, all bar one person ordered steaks which arrived for everyone 20 minutes after the orders were place, everyone’s steaks were cooked to perfection with amazing flavour, the sides were equally amazing, all in all we all said we would definitely be booking again on our next trip to Bournemouth. My only regret is that there isn’t a Funki Griller restaurant in my home town Bristol as I would be eating there all the time. In closing, great service, fantastic stake and great value

We had an amazing experience at Funky Griller today! Our party of 12 was welcomed with such warmth and friendliness from the staff—they were incredibly accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. Despite the large group, the service was impeccable, and we never felt rushed. Now, onto the steak—it was simply incredible! Cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and hands down one of the best steaks we’ve had in a long time. Every bite was a delight. If you’re a steak lover, this place is a must-visit. Thank you, Funky Griller, for making our gathering so special. We’ll definitely be back!

We arrived for a friends bday meal, and I was greeted by a friendly member of staff called Mikayla, who helped me tremendously by helping me put up bunting before my friend got there, and then also becoming our waitress, she was superb. The food was sublime, every one at the dinner table was satisfied completely and was definitely interested in going back. Me and one friend shared the 2 for 10oz ribeye steak deal for £35, which was the best choice we made. The birthday boy and girlfriend had the mixed grill which came to £75, and they actually said it would have suited 3 people instead of just the two of them. Finally, to sum up, it was all tasty, the vibe was quiet with great karaoke music in the background. WOULD definitely dine again.

Just a short walk from the pier this steak house is well placed, quite large and fairly well appointed if you can overlook the somewhat kitsch Gorilla theme. The staff were very friendly but not always timely. Despite some tasty starters the mains of three of the four in our group arrived close to cold. My medium/well fillet was of low quality and was ruined by being massively overcooked. For some strange reason for everything over medium they butterfly the steak. The staff did offer an alternative cut but we didn't have time to wait and they made no adjustment to the £220 bill. I really wanted to like this place and had persuaded my friends to go but left very dissapointed

Visited here on Saturday, beautiful food and front of house were fantastic, friendly, welcoming and good at their job, exactly what front of house should be! Will 100% be returning here to see these nice people when I’m back in Bournemouth! Reece

Absolutely amazing food. We found this place last year on the hunt for steak whilst staying jn Bournemouth. And now whenever we fancy a nice steak we book a trip to Bournemouth. We had the sharing platter tonight for the first time and that's highly recommended but only if you're going to go back to your room and chill afterwards as you won't be able to move!! Fab friendly service every time we've been and will be back again soon.

I cannot recommend this place enough. We were treated splendidly and we happily spent some money in here. The food and drinks are definitely in the upper medium price range. However it’s absolutely worth it. The meet was absolutely gorgeous, tender and finely spiced. The atmosphere is of an American diner however successfully mixed with a British traditional flavour. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking to treat yourself to a non-pretentious but flavoursome evening.

We ate out here whilst on holiday recently and it was absolutely delicious! Great service and nice cocktails. Highly recommend if you want a decent steak. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and we had 3 courses and drinks.

We really had a very good meal here. I had fish (seabass) which was extremely good and my husband's steak was exactly as ordered. And the side dishes (e.g. the green vegetables) were also very, very tasty. We can only recommend the restaurant.

Oh my goodness. I was on Friday 9th of August around 5pm. The only reason we came here is because our hotel recommend us to trying. We did we was 4 people we pay 160.00 pounds for a dry burger 🍔 my partner ordered he only eat the chips frozen of course and same of the burger. The another friends ordered megasaurus steak 20oz they ordered l one medium and the another medium well done. Both steak was well done. One of my friend complained. As to speak with the manager first time he didn't coming out he eventually he came out. He no want to change the steak was over cooked refused to replace the steak after long argument he decided to change the steak. About the ordere of my partner literally. I would like a explanation how the burger was so dry he was he was absolutely terrible bad. The explanation he gave was absolutely ridiculous. My own conclusion was the have the burger precooked. We pay for the burger 17.00 pound was inedible. I will leave zero stars if I could! Manager was rude, argumentative. I think the chef needs to go back to school to learn how to cook and they manager needs to be more honest and work harder because he was very happy to take the money but no Responsibility for terrible meals he delivers, plus they said they chips was homemade. They was no home made was frozen ships. My absolutely opinion they cost to eat in this restaurant is to Spencer. They need to work harder to deliver better food than I expected for the money we pay. I'm happy to pay more if the food is good. But this wasn't I'm very disappointed with the food and the manager. I need to say thank to the waitress for being so helpful. They no deserve it to be honest they need too take all the disappointed of the customer because they manager can't bother to get out and speak with the unhappy costumes Complain. Sadly we won't be returning.

We had dinner in your premises (Bournemouth) Saturday 27th July & was part of a group of 16 people. Until the very end we actually had a very good experience throughout the evening, The food was great & the service we received from the couple of waitresses was good. By the very end of the meal & following payment (of which we needed to do individually due to different values in terms of orders from every person) we were told from the waitress we had paid the bill successfully & in the end was just £16 shy in terms of the optional service charge. A member of the group asked that if he paid £20 would it be possible for everyone in our party to receive a shot of Limoncello following the large amount of money we spent on the night. Circa £900-£950. The waitress agreed to fulfil the request, So she took the £20 & went away. When she returned, she gave us 1 shot of Limoncello only & then informed us that she was unable to fulfil the request of a shot for each person as it wasn’t within their policy & now she wouldn’t be able to give us the £20 back as the tills are closed. As you can imagine that response seemed a little strange as the right thing to have done would be to have informed us that in the end the request couldn’t be fulfilled & instead offer to give us back the £20. So at this point if she couldn’t fulfil what we asked for we then asked her could we have our £20 back? Following this a female colleague approached our table (I do not know her name, This was the first time we had interacted with her all evening, She wore glasses & I am assuming was the duty manager) Came over which such a disappointing attitude & professionalism. She was practically shouting at us & telling us we had been here all night, She has been here since 2-3pm of that day & it was time for us all to go. (She was speaking to us as if we had been causing trouble all evening & had previously asked us to leave of which she hadn’t?) We explained we were waiting for our £20 back, She went away & returned with the £20 then asked us all to leave as the bar is closed & we had been there all night (Bear in mind we only sat down at 20:45 & had not once been given notice of time to leave the restaurant) An Incredibly rude behaviour from what I assume was the duty manager? At this stage, We all got up & started to walk out the door, One by one she stood near the exit repeatedly saying “goodbye & see you later” in a very sarcastic tone. A member of our group turned to her & said we will be leaving a review on this & she responded to say “Great, Please do that & make sure you mention my name, I cant wait”… It is clear as day, There was some mis-communication between the waitress & this lady as we were a very respectful group all night & were only asking for our £20 back as what we were told would happen did not. She must have had the impression we were being difficult & came over with the intention to kick us out which was shocking. I work within the hospitality industry myself, The lack of professionalism she showed in that moment & the lack of communication skills was very disappointing. All she had to do was return the £20 & apologise for the misunderstanding previously & say they could not uphold the request for a shot per person. Instead, we were basically shouted at & asked to leave with no notice at all. Overall, Food was great, The service from our waitress throughout the evening was good (though a number of human errors did happen, they got rectified) However, the female colleague/duty manager at the end was incredibly disappointing & unfortunately she needs to learn from this experience & understand how to speak to people & handle situations professionally. I’m afraid though the food was great (please pass this one to your chefs) the disappointing interaction with your staff member at the end was put all of us off re-visiting your premises again. We all live local to Bournemouth & had intended to visit with our families over the coming months which now will not be the case.

One of my favorite restaurants, great steaks, sea bass is also lovely.

We had dinner here Saturday 27th July & was part of a group of 16 people. Until the very end we actually had a very good experience throughout the evening, The food was great & the service we received from the couple of waitresses was good. By the very end of the meal & following payment (of which we needed to do individually due to different values in terms of orders from every person) we were told from the waitress we had paid the bill successfully & in the end was just £16 shy in terms of the optional service charge. A member of the group asked that if he paid £20 would it be possible for everyone in our party to receive a shot of Limoncello following the large amount of money we spent on the night. Circa £900-£950. The waitress agreed to fulfil the request, So she took the £20 & went away. When she returned, she gave us 1 shot of Limoncello only & then informed us that she was unable to fulfil the request of a shot for each person as it wasn’t within their policy & now she wouldn’t be able to give us the £20 back as the tills are closed. As you can imagine that response seemed a little strange as the right thing to have done would be to have informed us that in the end the request couldn’t be fulfilled & instead offer to give us back the £20. So at this point if she couldn’t fulfil what we asked for we then asked her could we have our £20 back? Following this a female colleague approached our table (I do not know her name, This was the first time we had interacted with her all evening, She wore glasses & I am assuming was the duty manager) Came over which such a disappointing attitude & professionalism. She was practically shouting at us & telling us we had been here all night, She has been here since 2-3pm of that day & it was time for us all to go. (She was speaking to us as if we had been causing trouble all evening & had previously asked us to leave of which she hadn’t?) We explained we were waiting for our £20 back, She went away & returned with the £20 then asked us all to leave as the bar is closed & we had been there all night (Bear in mind we only sat down at 20:45 & had not once been given notice of time to leave the restaurant) An Incredibly rude behaviour from what I assume was the duty manager? At this stage, We all got up & started to walk out the door, One by one she stood near the exit repeatedly saying “goodbye & see you later” in a very sarcastic tone. A member of our group turned to her & said we will be leaving a review on this & she responded to say “Great, Please do that & make sure you mention my name, I cant wait”… It is clear as day, There was some mis-communication between the waitress & this lady as we were a very respectful group all night & were only asking for our £20 back as what we were told would happen did not. She must have had the impression we were being difficult & came over with the intention to kick us out which was shocking. I work within the hospitality industry myself, The lack of professionalism she showed in that moment & the lack of communication skills was very disappointing. All she had to do was return the £20 & apologise for the misunderstanding previously & say they could not uphold the request for a shot per person. Instead, we were basically shouted at & asked to leave with no notice at all. Overall, Food was great, The service from our waitress throughout the evening was good (though a number of human errors did happen, they got rectified) However, the female colleague/duty manager at the end was incredibly disappointing & unfortunately she needs to learn from this experience & understand how to speak to people & handle situations professionally. First time eating at Funki Griller this evening and we weren't disappointed. The steaks tasted absolutely amazing ! Everything was 5* especially our waiter, Harry. He really was great and a real asset to the restaurant. We will definitely be back again next time we are in Bournemouth.

Cold steak burger dry and not tasty

Very bad!!!! Worst food experience ever!!! The food was completely burned!! The staff was too bad!! Poor service!!!! Total trash!!! When complained about food gave no reaction!!!! Waste of money. Don’t go there 👎

A MUST do if you're in the area. We're a foodie family and we left left happy and satisfied! Absolutely fantastic food and service. The best steak we've had (and we've had a lot as a family) Adults ordered the surf and turf and kids ordered burgers (kids said it was the best burger they've ever had) Dessert didn't disappoint, coffee creme brulee (a first, and my husband has had a lot of creme brulees, and we had the chocolate brownie, which was moist and delicious. Wi e menu great AND my beer was served with an ice cold glass. Definitely will revisit. Enjoy!
