ZHUG in Nottingham

Zhug is hands down one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food is absolutely amazing – full of bold, fresh flavors that are both satisfying and comforting. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and incredibly fresh, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. The environment at Zhug is just as impressive. It’s vibrant, welcoming, and has a unique charm that makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re going for a casual dinner or a special night out, it hits the mark.

4 stars due to amount of food. The food is usually tasty but my last visit was a little underwhelming. The chicken bowl for £15 had barely any chicken ( possibly 1/2 a breast ) some fries and the smallest amount of salad ever, almost like they'd ran out. It was not busy and we were served with a smile and not usually bad food so I'll see what it's like next time.

Food was delicious, served quickly and reasonably priced. Maybe could've done with a bit more chicken in the chicken gyros meal - it was mostly chips and salad. A few slight miscommunications in service but it was a busy night. Would visit again.

Absolutely a 10/10 service! Food was incredible! The starters was so delicious! I could of done it twice over. Very filling small plates. However had to finish it off with Baklava

Very rare 5* feedback across the board, but this little place definitely deserves it. Gorgeous food, generous portions, and good selection - particularly for gluten-free, vegan, and halal. As a coeliac I was delighted to find that about 90% of the menu is either naturally or adaptable to be gluten free, including (pictured) cpated halloumi!Lovely atmosphere, modern but cosy, and friendly, efficient service. Popped in for a bite to eat at lunch on a weekday and had no trouble finding a seat or getting served, and everyone raved about their meals. I'll definitely be back - thank you!

The food was absolutely incredible, shout out to mukund was are our waiter and he was so kind and made some really funny jokes too! The food came so quickly, quicker that a takeaway ! Overall really impressive and we would defiantly come here again!

First time here with some old friends who live locally ( up the road!) we travelled from south Derbyshire and would do so again. Food was very fresh, very tasty and the (one) pint of draft IPA was excellent! Now understand why it was so busy for a Wednesday evening.only minor point ( it’s a pet hate) is the 10% service charge added automatically. I profoundly disagree with this and ordinarily insist it’s removed as I prefer to leave a cash amount which I know is going to the staff and it’s always based on merit not assumed. In this instance it was comparable to what id of left (£10) but it really shouldn’t be assumed and added without prior agreement. We would recommend here as the food was unexpectedly good.

Our first time at Zhug, lovely atmosphere, super quick service. The lamb pita was really flavourful, kebabs inside fried to perfection. Will definitely be coming back with more friends/family, worth the trip out to Wollaton!

Incredible incredible incredible!! We had the wings and halloumi to start everything we ate was cooked perfectly. All seasoned to perfection. The lamb pitas were brilliant but the star of the show was the Lebanese chicken pita! Must get!! I ordered more pita for dessert. And some for takeaway! Will be returning worth the drive.

We both enjoyed a simple pita with one side order of cauliflower. Including two soft drinks and a undisclosed service charge added in advance to the bill was annoying and the total came to 37 quid. This seems high for basic street food as lunch for two. Its a nice location but wouldn't make it a regular venue.

After seeing a food bloggers video about Zhug, we made the journey from Newark to check it out. We were not disappointed! We had the humus and falafel and the labneh as starters and chicken gyros and a Middle Eastern lamb pita for main and it was all delicious! We love trying new food and this place is well worth checking out! We only gave 4 stars for service as the table wasn’t cleared before the dessert came. This wouldn’t stop us coming again.

We have eaten in and more often take away excellent Pittas. Outside and inside tables are simple and the service is excellent. The menu is extensive. Everything is clean and fresh.

The food was nice albeit not very hot but i felt that the portions were small for the price. For example the loaded fries were very small and not suitable for sharing. We found the service to be poor in general. For example no cutlery on our table even by the time our food arrived even though we'd booked ahead. My first drink order was wrong but was quickly rectified however my friend ordered a mojito that really did taste like lime water but they refused to rectify it or offer an alternate drink which was disappointing considering the price of a cocktail. I think maybe we just had a bad night but I wouldn't rush to return or recommend friends sorry.

A wonderful meal and fantastic atmosphere, big shout out to the Amalfi lemonade, perfect mix of elderflower and sweetness
