Mediocre pub food in a disco environment. Had to shout to have a conversation. Asked the manager to turn the noise down, he was not happy to do so. Never again. I'm local, not an easy pleased tourist.

Second visit here with friends, doesn't disappoint, good service, lovely food

The staff were great. Had a lovely view of the harbour. Excellent food, good portions, great prices. Not a single critisism at all. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing food, fantastic service, what's not to like!

I visited the restaurant on 20th July and ordered a pan fry seabass with new patatos. It served with thick and greasy tomato sauce. I started to feel sick from next evening and totally lost my appetite for 3 days and felt achy and fatigue. Had to out of work. I assume the sauce is outdated...not a good experience at all

Lovely food great service slightly expensive for what I got

Came here on Saturday, 6th July, as we were visiting family. The food was gorgeous, piping hot on arrival, amazing,really good portion sizes. The chunky chips are amazing, and the beef burgers are so good. Very tasty. CustomerService Very good. We'll be back to try other dishes. Car park across the road, pay by cash or on the app, overlooks the harbour lovely view. Toilets spot on cleanliness Thank you 😊 10/10

A table was found quickly as we were walk-ins, great choice on the menu, and fabulous prices, dog biscuits, and water provided free and really enjoyed. Food was wonderful 😋

Lovely food not too expensive and more than enough to fill you, I'd recommend

Busy restaurant with booking probably required at peak times. My wife had a veggie burger, and I had cheeseburger, both came piping hot, as did the chips, and all tasted great. Service from the servers was very efficient and friendly. A great place to come.

Great food never ever had a bad meal and so many nice menu options too number one place around it's awesome big boy Burger is the best....

A repeat visit and very disappointing. Food mediocre. The loaded chips were sickly with too much cheese and tomato. The steak was rubbery and the gravy had an odd aftertaste. Hopefully just an off day as first time we visited was one of best meals had in ages.

Stopped here for a cuppa. A lovely view. Staff friendly, cuppa served hot. Cafe very clean. Would recommend 👌

After a long day travelling around the Lake District, we needed to rest and eat. We'd had a lovely walk around the harbour and saw Zest Harbourside. I'd already noticed they had gluten-free options, and as I'm gluten intolerant, I was happy to see they had some really good choices. We asked if our dogs were allowed, and they were so welcoming. The dogs were given biscuits and a bowl of water. Perfect! The food was amazing, and all of the staff were helpful, friendly, and attentive. It's so nice to find gluten-free and dog friendly with fab food. Definitely recommend.

Always good food and love the location overlooking the harbour

Well we were very surprised at how vibrant and cosmopolitan this place is. It’s on the Harbour side, contemporary inside and plenty of room.. great food and wine list.. thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.. great service off a cheeky chap..

Went with my wife after visiting family in the area and chose this place because of location to our accommodation. Service was prompt and the restaurant looked well decorated. My wife chose meatball pasta nice meatballs in a thick tomato sauce penne pasta well overcooked I chose the chicken pasta in cream and white wine sauce again pasta well overcooked the chicken was also well overcooked it was so dry is squeaked like halloumi cheese when I tried to chew it and the sauce was very thin and watery plenty of flavour in the sauce but the consistency was terrible there was so much sauce the pasta was floating and not very much stuck to the pasta because it was so thin I should have been given a spoon not a knife and fork. I did complain and it was removed from the bill I was offered another meal but by the time it would have been cooked my wife would have finished her meal and I would be eating by myself. Speaking with a couple on the next table they did say the quality was an issue ( they hadn't been themselves for a while because of the problems they had heard about but they were there because someone had bought them a voucher). We chose not to have desert because we didn't want to spend any further money in the restaurant. As we left a staff member did apologise but by then the evening was spoilt. Cooking a simple chicken pasta dish isn't difficult but overcook the 2 main ingredients and the dish is ruined.

Very clean place, great friendly service, nice food and atmosphere, and what is rather rare in the UK and I have been living here for 18 years, the lady cleans the table right after the guests leave the table, shocking! All cutlery and glasses are clean and shiny. A truly European standard, keep it up! :)

Having lived out of the area for 12 years we caught up with friends here and pleased to see it is still going strong. Excellent food and excellent service by a young lad , name on the receipt was Kevin. He was attentive but most of all knew how to speak to his customers , seemed very happy in his work and was attentive throughout. Thanks for a lovely evening.

We stopped here whilst on holiday, place was busy but staff managed to get me table for two. Food was good, staff kind and helpful. Would recommend for anyone visiting Whitehaven marine. They don't have own car park however there are two pay and display car parks within a minute walk.

Excellent food and lovely surroundings

Recommend the share dishes with various sides. The steak and mini sausages are amazing.

Given the time we arrived, a bigger table (for 3) would have been nice

Visited for dinner during Christmas Eve. The food was so good and the service made you feel welcome. It's great when you want to leave a tip, that's how satisfied you are.

- We ordered the Fish and Chips and also Scotsmans Chicken. The Chicken was dry and overcooked, The Fish was mushy with zero flavour.I Was not once asked how the food was or if everything was okay. Tried to redeem with a dessert of sticky toffee pudding was sadly this was overcooked itself. Used to be lovely food and it is a pleasant atmosphere but unfortunately has went downhill my last couple visits. Probably won’t be returning

Wonderful food and helpful staff were overshadowed by other patrons. Possibly the loudest 'restaurant' I've ever been in. This venue seems to appear more like a bar or nightclub in atmosphere as opposed to a restaurant. Surrounded by incredibly loud groups of people. An unfortunate end to what was supposed to be a nice family meal out.

Some of the best food I've had at a restaurant for such a good price. Fast service and friendly staff. Would highly recommend the chicken and pesto pizza, the chunky chips and the bowl of Yorkshire puddings!

The food was great and the service was even better. The staff are a real asset to this restaurant. Very knowledgeable, helpful, polite, friendly. Our member of staff, Hannah was absolutely spot on, as were the others we interacted with. We had a lovely afternoon catching up over great food, we had very few interruptions, and yet had everything we needed.

Popped in for a coffee , got way layed by the cocktails , stayed for food and desert which was all lovely ,services was 1st class .

It's OK if you like busy noisy places. Called in for Sunday lunch lots of people.

Will definitely eat here again! Excellent Soup, Excellent Cheeseburger, Excellent Fries, Excellent service. Customer toilets were spotless and smelled nice but being located upstairs may be an issue for some.

Lovely food and great service. The staff were very attentive and food and drinks arrived quickly. We were in at 6.30 on Saturday evening and it was loud, which was the only draw back. By the time dessert arrived it was more like the volume we would have liked throughout. Overall an experience worth repeating.

Called into Zest for something to eat when passing through Whitehaven. The starter (crispy squid) was excellent and just the right portion size. However when the main course came(Zest crispy chicken) I couldn’t believe the number of chicken pieces. If I had only had half the number I would have been perfectly happy. No way I was going to finish everything but what I did eat was very tasty. Staff were all very pleasant.

The exterior of the building really hides away what a gem of a place this is. The interior decor and atmosphere was excellent, and the staff were friendly. The food was excellent, with a good range of options to select from. Highly recommend Zest, and will definitely revisit when next in the area.

Lovely food but when it was 9. 15pm the staff were at our table every 2 mins wanting empty glasses. We spent over £200 there but felt like the staff were pushing us out so they could finish early. Did not feel. Like we could stay for extra drinks on a Saturday night. Disappointing

I've been a few times now. Beats other restaurants in Whitehaven. Service is super. Spoilt for choice. Normally, I can only find one, maybe two things I like, but at Zest, there were loads. Took ages to decide. Quality of the food is to be recommended. Didn't have to wait ages either. I highly recommend this venue with no hesitation.

Another visit in quite quick succession and we’ll definitely be back again before long! Great choice on the menu and every choice seems to be as nice as the last. Great food and great portion sizes, I’m a big eater but I definitely came away feeling full

A fabulous meal served by very courteous staff.

First class food in a very friendly setting. Entrance could be a bit daunting but leads to a great place. Best chips had for a longtime.

Had a cracking late lunch here on the 9th of September. We were a bit early for our table, but that was no problem. Was shown to a window table overlooking the harbour. There was a festival going on that weekend so it was good for people watching. Menu was extensive. I had the squid starter. Very nicely presented and cooked to perfection. My partner had a flat bread which was excellent and a huge portion. Half would have been enough. Mains were the ZFC fried chicken and chorizo and king prawn penne pasta. Again quality was spot on and portions very generous. What did absolutely stand out was the table service. Our waitress was Calla (hopefully spelt correctly) who was a star. Very friendly and chatty. She was extremely professional and a credit to the Zest restaurant. So all in all an excellent meal.

Zest was recommended by my beautician. It did not disappoint!. The food was good quality, full of flavour and nicely presented. We had a side of little sausages in honey mustard sauce (Yummy). The sausages in gravy was to die for! We hadn't booked, but they were kind enough to fit us in. The staff were very well trained and attentive. Excellent value.

Great restruant, definitely recommend

Struggling to find somewhere for a lunchtime sandwich we visited Zest. Found a couple of lighter options from the starter menu and ordered side salads as well. The side salad on its own would have been a complete meal - huge and very tasty - and sadly I couldn't eat everything it was so filling.

All members of staff are very friendly. The service is great. We had the chicken curry and an onion bomb, and the beer battered fish and chips. Both were delicious and food came out quickly. It is also a dog friendly restaurant. Great place to eat & drink.

I have been to Zest on a number of occasions, all pre-covid, and have always rated it well. However, my meal this week was very very poor. I ordered a wrap, and they had not even put it together for me, a plain quite stale wrap arrived with pieces of chicken and a few lettuce leaves. Paying £13 and not even getting a put-together wrap is very poor in my opinion. And another £4 for chips. £17 for what I thought was no better than a McDonald’s meal - at least at McDonald’s your wrap comes assembled. The standard has dropped so much since pre-covid times. I won’t be returning. I wish I had said this at the time, but felt quite uncomfortable as the staff are all lovely.

We had booked a table, as wasn't sure how busy they got, so glad we did as they do get quite busy. We had a starter each consisting of the mango chicken and the onion bombs. Both were delicious, then we both had the zest crispy chicken with the loaded chunckie chips, again delicious. The food arrived at the table hot, the chicken was succulent. Would definitely recommend.

The food was so delicious, we’re a family of 4 and every plate was better than the other. We all loved it that we went back the second day again. The view of the harbor was spectacular. The staff were extremely friendly, smiling and nice. We tried the creamy pasta, ZFC, flying Scotsman chicken, traditional Cumbrian sausage and mash, little zfc. We then had the amazing sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which was from a different world and Bosco di Crimioli Prosecco

What a great welcome from everyone ,and a genuine interest in making sure everything was fine for us even ringing a taxi for us as we were leaving. We had delicious food , my creamy pasta with subtle tarragon and wine flavour was delicious as was my sisters prawn and chorizo pasta and we would recommend to everyone.

Microwaved rubbery garlic bread in fact of the six meals we had five we defiantly microwaved and the one pizza was shocking. We are a family that rarely leave our food and on this occasion we all left our food.

2nd day of holiday and just opted into Whitehaven for a bite to eat . So glad we walked in , our food was excellent . I had the Prawn and Chorizo pasta , just enough heat and would have licked plate clean if I could . Hubby had the Spinach and mushroom lattice, with roast veg and potatoes on the side , lots of lovely flavours . Only criticism would be lack of kids dishes , our son is autistic and only eats ‘beige’ and only ended up with chips ( it’s not the only place, I know places can’t cater for everyone) . Puddings we’re lovely too .

My partner & I dropped in without having booked a table, on a Saturday evening (we were visiting the area & was suggested to us by the hotel we stayed in. We didn't hold out much hope of getting a table due to not having prebooked & apparently being so popular. They were kind enough to offer us a table, if it wasn't going to be a drawn out social affair- the table was already booked by another party for a certain time - (we just wanted to eat & go after having such a long day walking so it worked out well). The table for 2 are only small - 2 plates & a couple of drinks & no room for anything else....luckily the table next us had finished so they dragged over a surplus table or else we would have been stacking plates on top of each other due to lack of space) we didn't order a main or dessert, we ordered 4 starters to share between the 2 of us. Chicken skewers, onion bhaji, calamari bites & cheesy salsa chips (those aren't the exact name of the dishes on the menu-but that's what they pretty much were & it does give a brief food description of what each dish is) The food was hot & well presented. Overall we enjoyed the food. The price is about what you would expect to pay anywhere...approx £7.00/£8.00 per starter For 4 starters & table water, our bill was £32.00 (odd pence) We were seated downstairs & the toilet is situated upstairs (something to consider if steps are a hindrance for you). The service was steady & the atmosphere / deco is kind of low lighting with a 'trendy moody edge' feel. On visiting Whitehaven, we noticed a lot of the eateries are pub food oriented. Compared to other towns we visit, there aren't many 'restaurants' so if you're looking for a 'romantic feel' restaurant we didn't find one...but our visit was only a 2 day visit. Parking is available around the vicinity but it is paid parking no matter the time of day.

Pretty lackluster, was told they would clean a table for us when we arrived and we were asked to sit at the bar with a drink, which was nice as we had no booking. However when we were taken to the table it was covered in food and they had to then clean it in front of us... we then had salt and pepper grinders slammed on the table with attitude when I pointed out that one was covered in a sticky brown sauce and asked or a wipe which came back with another bang on the table. We ordered from the special menu, Mediterranean fish stew with roast potatoes. Very dissapointing as it consisted of 4 king prawns and a handful of very tiny cubes of fish, which may or may not have been the salmon and cod described.. impossible to tell, also the potatoes appeared boiled and definitely couldn't pass for roasted. Waste of £18 for sure. The pasta bolognese was as expected and the small peice of garlic bread outclassed the below by miles. Also ordered was a warm bread bowl of sourdough and rustic with 3 kinds of flavoured butter. Bread was hard as a rock and the butter all came together as little knobs in the same small dish, which, of course, all melted together very quickly leaving a wierd single flavoured puddle. Another regrettable £6 spent. The only decent thing was the greek salad that came at a generous portion with a great mix of vegetables and halloumi cheese as described. The place was nice enough but the atmosphere was ruined by a constant very loud Ding Dong of a door bell going off which presumably was to call staff downstairs to collect food.

Couldn't talk due to the noise. Table near ( 8 lads) swearing and shouting. People around with children and elderly. Atmosphere was terrible. We won't be rushing back.

Visit a harbour town and get excellent food, great service, comfy seating, view of the harbour, dog is welcome and staff are friendly. Can't think of anything that was missing tbh. We asked for any additional vegan options and got some delicious vegan pizza as well as the lattice on the menu. Generous portions, well presented plates. Only complaint is being too full for pudding. 🍰

We ordered the olive bowl and cheese garlic ciabatta to start along with fennel, red oninon and lemon roasted potatoes. My daughter had pepperoni pizza which she loves from here, my partner had mozzarella chicken in a warp and I chose creamy chicken pasta. We really enjoyed all our food.

Brilliant interior to the building, lovely decorations and art work throughout. The food was very tasty, not too long of a wait. The price seems to be worth it, one of those types of places that you’d eat at once a month. Only downside I had here was as I walked up the stairs there was a young waiter picking his nose and then very quickly pulled his finger out his nose as I looked over towards him. Not only a disgusting habit but also very unhygienic and made me uncomfortable that those very hands are touching customers plates. (Thankfully it wasn’t him who served me)

As previously described pub food, but more expensive. The staff are very young so don’t have any meet and greet experience. They all seem to work hard tho and are pleasant. The place just lacks any real atmosphere and is quite disjointed despite it brilliant...

The food was below average and definitely not fresh home cooked food. The mash potatoe was smash so think that says it all. Well over priced for quality of food - £74 for 3 main meals, 1 kids meal and 4 drinks. Would not go...

The staff are great, however the food needs a lot of work, menu its old and needs a huge update, food quality also could improve. The atmosphere was was great expect for the choice of music.

The food was big portioned and affordable. Good selection of drinks as well. Parking in the area is affordable as well, £3.50 for 5 hours, so after eating we explored the area.

Brilliant restaurant which has a large varied menu with modern tapas style choices and main dishes. The staff are always friendly and efficient. A lovely place to go with great views over the harbour. Highly recommended.

Lovely food, plenty of choice. Dog friendly too, although our server avoided our dog, he seemed to be scared of dogs. The fish wasn't as good as expected, but other dishes were very nice

Meal for 4 and glass of wine 56£ not being waiting long to be served. Dogs are welcome. Might need booking in advance, but we just pop in, and they had a place for us. Food fresh and tasty. Parking is very close.

My wife fo very bad food poison from there thay gave her semi frozen coliflour cheese then she complained then thay took it away then beautiful it back slightly frozen hours later she was very sick and it lasted for about 5 days and she couldn't take medication she needed to take three times a day which made it worse than ever when I completed to the manager he more ore less shrugged it off with no apology I would have thought he would have at least apologise and offer a refund but he seid we should just go to trading standards for food hygiene

On holiday and wanted to eat. They are dog friendly and so accommodating and couldn't do enough for us. Gave our dog a drink straight away and a great selection of food. Sweet potato chips was amazing best for 300 miles. Next time we are back this way we will definitely call again.
