Party of 8 as first time visitors to restaurant. Lots of choice on the menu ,Freindly staff and top quality food . Probably the best curry we have all ever had 🏆. Will definitely return and recommend it to others. Thank you to all at Zengz.

Great place, been here several times and never disappointed. There is a really wide ranging and varied menu, food is delicious and the portions are generous. Reasonably priced too, and the staff are all lovely. Not licensed, so you need to take your own wine/beer, or pop to the off license a couple of doors down before you go in. It's definitely a favourite

We visited Solihull in October 2024 after visiting the NEC Birmingham. We had a fantastic meal of Vegetable Madras with boiled rice, and Salmon Bahar with egg fried rice. We also shared a lovely chilli, coriander and garlic naan bread and bombay alloo. We'll definitely visit again to enjoy the fantastic food and very professional and friendly staff. 10/10 **

First time at this restaurant and fully enjoyed my experience. We visited on a Tuesday night which was Special Deal night for 2 courses £10.95. Service was excellent but most importantly the food was delicious and well presented. Very friendly run restaurant and you can take your own drinks or use the off licence next door. Will defiantly be back next time I'm in the area.

First time visiting and was wonderful . Lots of choice on the menu but the chef came to our table to say if there was anything we wanted that’s not on the menu he could cook it . We both had the sea bass in a delicious sauce and the chef recommended having it with lemon rice which we’d never had before … the whole meal was delicious ! Would definitely recommend it .

Dinner was scrumptious and staff were so flippin cute. My boyfriend did cry when he saw the bill but the waitress really made him feel better… don’t know why it was only £20, but hey ho i still had a good time at least.

Once again, an amazing visit. The staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. The food is brilliant, easily the best curry in Solihull. The rate of service was excellent; we had time to choose our meals and have a break in between - perfect balance. Thank you again Zengz for a wonderful evening

This is the first time I've visited the restaurant and I have to say it was a wonderful experience. The owner is clearly passionate about his business and the dishes served, there is an excellent variety, me and my friend were undecided so we asked for some advice. The owner took his time and went through various dishes listening to what we wanted and in the end we had the lamb curry and chicken spinach bhuna. The food was very tasteful and we asked for medium to hot and it was spot on, as well as very flavoursome and we both really enjoyed it. I had nan And my friend had roti to accompany our meal that was lovely too. The popperdoms were nice and fresh with a great crunch to to them as was the salad, so excellent all round. The portion sizes are great and the dishes are all well priced. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be coming back again. The restaurant is clean light and airy with a great ambience. You can also bring your own alcohol. Thank you for a lovely experience.

The chef is absolutely brilliant. He came out and checked all our meals were to our liking and could not have been more accommodating. Excellent food, best in the area. Can’t wait to go back

Had a takeaway delivered, lovely food as usual, we normally eat in. Little disappointed as when we have takeaways most places give you complimentary poppadoms we didn'thave that from here tonight... cant fault the meal though and will be definately be ordering again!

Lovely restaurant very relaxed atmosphere, we visited Wednesday I brought my sister and her family here for the 1st time they loved it, & food was amazing as usual, Abz the owner is very interactive with the customers the whole team is great! The menu is great value 6 of us totalled to around £85 excluding drinks, they have a range of soft drinks but we took our own as they are unlicensed, the zengz platter is definitely one to try if you like a mixed grill, the chicken Balti is my go to when I come here it’s the best around. They do a set menu night on a Tuesday which is amazing value for money! But I would recommend you booking as it’s a packed out night every week. Thanks guys !

Zengz is a family favourite visit for more years than I care to remember , Service from Abz and his staff always wants to make you come back . But best of all is the quality and attention to detail of the food that they serve . Friends and family we bring here love to come back and that it is a great testament to any restaurant I think .

I love this place and it is undoubtedly the best curry in Solihull. The staff are brilliant and the chef is top notch. I’m quite picky with food (especially my curries) and he gets it spot on every time; I’ve never had a bad curry from here. Husband and his friends went to the restaurant last night and I had a takeaway from here; the food is always fresh and tasty. It’s a hidden gem; we always take our friends here and no one is ever disappointed. Can’t wait to visit again in person soon!!

Great food and great service from an owner/chef. Beware the rice pot, it’s like a tarsus with more in it than meets the eye. Went on a recommendation and certainly lived up to the hype.

It was our first visit to Zengz on recommendation from friends. Lovely place, delicious food and excellent service. Menu choice was superb with lots of dishes we had never seen before . A couple of us tried new things and thoroughly enjoyed them . Our host was extremely helpful and said he would explain any dishes and to give to give him feedback even if we didn’t like our meals. It was also a nice change to take our own wine and beer. We will return soon .

Last night (Tuesday), on the recommendation of another friend, we visited a restaurant called Zengz in Old Lode Lane, Solihull. What a revelation! The food was superb, the price fantastic and the staff were brilliant. We have found our new go to Indian restaurant. WORDS OF WARNING! 1/ We went on the off chance of a table, as I said on a Tuesday night, thinking it wouldn’t be too busy. We were wrong. We were very fortunate in that they were able to accommodate us. The restaurant has a website and tables can be booked in advance. 2/ The restaurant is not licenced so bring your own is the order of the day. We were not aware of this (as we hadn’t done our homework) but a couple of doors away is a strategically placed Off-Licence. Problem solved! This is a small local business. We spoke to the owner/head chef, a lovely man, who had opened the restaurant well outside of his normal professional comfort zone. You could tell he has a passion for the business that he wishes to share his talents with others. I cannot rate the service, quality and value highly enough. I have definitely become a convert. Thank you Zengz.

Moved to the area in March so checked out the reviews of a wide range of takeaway/restaurants on here. Selected Zengz and was not disappointed. Yes, it took about an hour before our meal was ready for collection , but the results were fresh, tasty and delicious. Would highly recommend.

Had a take away from them at the end of January, the food was amazing. The flavours were just right they altered the spice accordingly to how each member of the family wanted it. I absolutely loved the saag tikka special, there was something amazing about the flavours like I’ve never had before. If anyone wants a good Indian take away I would recommend this place 100% I can’t believe I didn’t know about this place sooner. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, I can’t wait for lockdown to be over just so I can dine in with my family! In the meantime il be happy with my take away from them.

Best Indian restaurant in the area, no doubt about it. Always a safe place to collect from, not on any third party delivery platforms either.Zengz avoided the Help Out to Eat Scheme, they stuck with collection & delivery only, this was a noble act to protect Staff & Customers alike, rather than chase money which many other restaurants chose to do over safety.Some customers have short memories, but Zengz has a very large, & loyal following which keeps coming back for more.

Unfortunately, on SEVERAL occasions now there have been issues. During Covid the manager has CRAMMED you in flouting any safety guidelines. Out takeaways have consisted of missing foods, uncooked foods or the wrong order. Don"t get me wrong we all make mistakes but the manage Abs at the Lode Lane restaurant is disgraceful. He most certainly will not except any criticism or complaint. He puts it straight back on the customer and becomes irate if you challenge him. He offers no apology. Shame really given the staff are pleasant and the food can be tasty. This is one restaurant I would not recommend but who knows if the managers learns a little more in the way of good customer care....there may be hope.

I had read the reviews and decided to try this place. To be honest I was very disappointed. Delivery of meal was an excessive amount of time. Wrong item received. Food bland and not very pleasant. Won't be using again.

Visited on the last Friday ahead of further restrictions (mixing of households). Service was a little slow for starters but worth the wait as we all really enjoyed our food and there were some different dishes on the menu. Lamb chop starters were excellent. Unlicensed and good prices, so a great value night out. Food was excellent and service was good with most waiters wearing masks. We were slightly uncomfortable however when we arrived about the comment 'don't worry about masks'

Don’t order a delivery..wont get what you ordered and paid for..then get spoken to rudely over the phone. PAID for £40 worth of food to have some dishes forgotten and delivered late and others denied even being ordered- no apology ‍♀️ Wouldn’t recommend - zero from me Loads of sauce not a lot of food

Lovely Indian Delivery, Special Starter for 2,followed by Chicken Tikka and Chicken Chisnea with Cocunut Rice (never seen this served anywhere) and Persgwari Naan. Nicest Takeaway we've had in ages. Would have given 5, delivery was 1hr,however it was worth the wait.

A safe place to eat in for all the family, this restaurant complies with all the social distancing requirements & guidelines. We all felt very comfortable to eat here, nicely spaced out tables, staff members kept their distance from each table whilst we were present. Staff are also happy to wear face masks if needed & hand sanitiser available too.

The food was actually really nice had the mussells starter and one of the king prawn signature dishes I can't remember the name of not the very best curry I've had but probably in the top 10% and very enjoyable. The service was by no means horrific the waiters were friendly when there but didn't ask about drinks after first order had to grab them as scurrying away from dropping food off and took nearly 45 minutes to get the bill after finishing despite it only being half full. Would probably go again but would describe it as very good rather than one of the best slightly more attentive service would go a long way to making this a 5 star also.

Me and my husband booked in for 5.45pm, as we arrived and were taken to the table we were asked if we could finished by 7pm. As we sat down the tablecloth was full of dirty marks but there wasn't anyone around to tell, the staff is very minimal. Our starters came and were OK but i had to ask twice to get our drinks. The mains were average but the vegetarian option was very small compared to my husbands meat based dish. It became very cramped as more customers were seated near us. The staff are friendly and the food is OK and the cost is average.

I visited with friends after reading the good reviews. The staff were quite friendly . My tandoori chicken starter was nice, my husband didn’t rate the shish kebab ( which he always has at Indian restaurants)A friend had crab cakes which were tiny and didn’t look too appealing. My salmon tikka main was very disappointing, a small portion of salmon which was supposed to come with salad ( a bit of shredded lettuce and a bit of red onion) The price was reasonable especially as it is a BYO but I would rather pay more for better food so won’t be returning.

We passed by and on the off chance asked if they had a table for 2 adults and 2 kids. 10 minute wait and we had a table. On valentine's day with no booking, brilliant. Made us feel welcome. Ordered starter, they tasted lovely. No waiting at all. Then on to the main course. The lamb curry was cooked really well. My partners partner's chicken bhuna tasted amazing. All the food was very tasty and portion size was more than enough. The owner took the time to come and talk to us. The place has a really nice atmosphere. 3 currys and starters and soft drinks for less than 40 pound. Great food amazing value. I will definitely be back very soon. Worth every penny!

We were a party of six and booked in advance. You need to as it is very popular. The service was very helpful and relaxed. The popodums were fresh and crispy. The starters were very tasty and the main courses were just superb. I had lamb madras. It was sumptuous. The bill was unbelievably cheap for all the dishes we had. It’s not licensed so if you need alcohol, take it. Would recommend water as your taste buds will love the flavours. We live 80 miles from this restaurant, but we are going back again. Fabulous!

We wanted to try somewhere new had a look at their reviews sounded good and we weren't disappointed. Food was fresh and tasted amazing not oily either which is all too common with Indian restaurants. Service from Ab and the team was faultless.

There are many places in Birmingham & Solihull for a good curry. There are several where you can get an excellent curry. There are however very few places where you can get Fine Indian Dining of the extremely high quality to be found at Zengz. We've been regulars here since the day it opened and have seen it grow in popularity while the food continues to be of the very highest quality .. at the same time the atmosphere remains friendly and informal .. so much more pleasant than a larger well known "party venue" curry house not far away. Abz the owner runs a tight ship and is often seen in the kitchen when not front of house , hence standards are consistently high. I would recommend you book on friday and saturday(it can and does get full, its only a small place) .. and the tuesday food deal is great value for money too. Zengz is not licensed but you just "take your own".. there is a very good off licence 3 doors down with beer wine and soft drinks at supermarket prices where Nash will give you a warm welcome!. Free parking right by the door (or just round the corner) . Whether you're a local or just visiting the area, I recommend you give Zengz a try , we have not yet found anywhere local beat it !

Absolutely blown away by this little gem of a restaurant. Could fault nothing. Looks inviting from the outside and we received a warm welcome inside. Spotless including toilets. Tastefully decorated. Lovely ambiance. Service just as we like it. Food was the best we had tasted in a long time. Excellent presentation and piping hot. Tuesday is a special offer night. £9.99 for popadom and dips, choice of starter, main, rice or bread. We thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. Bring your own booze option was a nice surprise. Shop a couple of doors down to buy. Highly recommended.

6 of us went for a meal on a busy sat night yes they were busy and we had to wait a bit longer than we wanted to but the food is top quality we all had something different and no one could fault it . Few commented that it was a little hotter that they were used to but to me it was perfect. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It's not licensed but they supply soft drinks and glasses for your own alcohol which we purchased from the outdoor a couple of doors down

Well we picked this restaurant two days ago as we are staying in crowne P birmingham airport. Please check this place out. Menu amazing. Service amazing. Food 11 out of 10. Thank you and we shall be back. A must for Indian food lovers

Great food and bring your own alcohol. Very busy so booking is advisable at weekends. Lovely and informative staff.

Passing by on a wet August early evening we were drawn by the clean stylish lines of Zengz and decided to try it out. An excellent decision as the service was attentive but without being intrusive and the food available was perfectly cooked with fresh herbs & spices enhancing and not masking the meal. I had lamb & my wife had Sea Bass with a shared lemon rice that were both highly enjoyable. After this first accidental visit we will be returning fairly quickly to explore further the exciting menu.

Excellent food, the shared starter platter was amazing. The food is brilliant, fantastic tasty curry. Everything is made to order no issue to make your curry bespoke. Only found this restaurant in June and already been 4 times.

Had some decent food takeaways sitdowns etc...it’s been the best after the best but recent takeaway all the food was sweet!! Not good sorry but I like flavour not sugar 🥴🥴

As part of a Curry Club, we visit different venues each month. Zengz is one of our favourites. The food is freshly cooked, prices are good value and the service is friendly. It's in our top 3 for the Solihull area.

We tried Zengz on the recomendation of a local resident, we were not disappointed, booking is advised as it's only a small place, they managed to accommodate myself and 9 other business associates at the last minute, the staff are friendly, spotless hygiene, the food was some of the best the whole group had ever tasted , full of flavour and perfectly cooked, often the kitchen door was left open so you could watch your food being cooked, quite reasonably priced for the area, remember to bring your own alcohol or you can buy it from the off licence next door, soft drinks are available, thank you Zengz we shall be back.

Zengz offer a wide selection of food, some of which are alternative to the standard typical Indian menu and are very tasty. Staff are extremely polite and the food is beautiful. We'll be back again......

I visited Zengz a couple of weeks back and the food was fantastic for me that means nothing, consistency is key. Now after a few visits tonight and tonight what can say... the best Indian I’ve ever had? A brummie born and bred I know my curry’s and zengz was fantastic the food was delicious, tasty and fresh.

Love the food never had a bad meal . A little too cramped though it's a pity they can't expand ,too many tables for such a small room to be comfortable . Also not liking being over charged . We have been over charged now 3 times in a row . The reason we have been given for this each time ,is that the Menu Prices are out of date ! ! Please update them then ,this is very misleading to Customers .

Visited this place on 26th april 2019 with 2 friends. Not a very big place but the food was brilliant, i can honestly say ive had loads of curries over the years but this one was by far the best ive ever eaten. Service was superb, nice atmos, price very reasonable. You take your own drinks as well.My friends were equally impressed as well. Will defo be going again. Great place.

Six of us went there on Good Friday. What a great restaurant, lovely ambience, really helpful and friendly staff. Food was delicious. Excellent value. Deciding what to eat from the many tempting dishes on the menu was hard, so we'll have to go again to try other options

Beent to Zengz a couple of times now. Very small and could do with a lick of paint but the food is just lovely. Not greasy like some curry's. I have always been when its been empty but friends tell me it does get busy. Can bring your own drink to which is always a bonus. Would recommend definitely on food alone. Thanks Zengs!

Visited this small but sensational Restaurant last night with my wife; we arrived without booking and the place was full. The very charming waiter told us to come back in 10 minutes and he would have a table for us. The 10 minutes passed very quickly and went back to a freshly laid table waiting for us. We came here once last year as we visited Birmingham NEC. We picked this Restaurant out of many because of the good reviews. Last year we certainly enjoyed every mouthfuls of the delicious food they offer and again this time we were not disappointed. I just wish we had a Restaurant like Zengz near were we live in Essex!! Thank you for the great food and hospitality

Came for an evening meal with friends, starter a bit dry - but main course excellent. Service was just about ok, but both waiters, though efficient, we’re not exactly friendly or overflowing with charm !

Dropped into Zengz with a colleague and we were the only ones there bar another couple. Great food, quiet but courteous service. Popped my head in the kitchen as we paid (since *if* it was quiet it should be clean) and it was absolutely spotless with a chef prepping in the rear.

Thank you Zengz for my chicken Pathia and fried rice... Even though you gave my collection to some other man who was collecting his own order.

We are very much a curry family. We KNOW a good curry when we find one having sampled hundreds of places and being Midlands based we have ladypool road as well as many more.

My wife and I called in after reading the positive reviews. Zengz is a small and friendly restaurant. I always go with a recommended dish on a first visit. I have to admit, I was somewhat disappointed with my starter and not overwhelmed with the main. On the recommendation of the owner, I ordered a King Prawn starter. This consisted of a pile of fried onions and mushrooms with half a dozen small prawns. There was virtually zero spicing and this dish was somewhat greasy. My main was Lamb Naga curry. Personally, I believe it should have been listed as Onion Naga. Sure the flavour was there but the lamb amounted to half a dozen 2cm cubes. My wife's selections fared slightly better but her salmon starter was over cooked. On a positive note, this restaurant is 'bring your own alcohol'. Therefore the meal didnt break the bank.

4th year running and still bang on with delicious food. Abz (The owner) has and is, achieving quality and consistancy over time, no easy task. Well done to the team. A big thumbs up. Highly recommended. Wil be back soon.... Peugeot Scooters UK.

Visited Zengz for the first time after my daughter recommended it. There was 9 of us and my 1 year old grandson. The food was fantastic really tasty and served hot . The staff were friendly and attentive and really made us feel welcome. I could not believe what the bill was at the end fantastic value for money . I will definitely be going back.

We ordered a take away from Zengz as the reviews suggested this was the best place to go to locally. The food was fantastic piping hot and so flavorsome. We had the platter for two to start. (My thinking was my wife won't eat all hers and i'll get more to eat. Well she did). I had a Lamb Balti and my wife had a Lamb Rogon. Both were really tasty and had a nice spice to them (Not really hot but a nice kick). The only criticism would be the naan bread was a little dense i would have liked them a little lighter, but these have been highly praised by other reviewers so i may have just had them at the wrong time. This will certainly not stop me going back in fact this makes me want to go back as next time it could be better. WOW can't wait now.

My car broke down last night, me and my son had been at an autism event, as jack has autism. I phoned the RAC and they told me I would have to wait for 1 hour 20 minutes. My phone was really low on power so I approached the staff in Zengz and asked if anyone had a charger. They immediately went to get one of their car. They invited us to sit and wait. They then bought some chips for my son and a drink. It was very stressful and after the time stated the rac still hadn’t come. I was then told that they would not be there for at least another hour. Jack was starting to have a meltdown. All of the staff were amazing and would highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you all so much. We will never forget your kindness!

Been a long time customer at Zengz restaurant, but not had a take away as I always feel take away/ delivery curries are different from eat in . Well .. Trust me take away is as good as eat in . Love it here , so as I've said before … Try it you'll like it .

Food and service was lovely! Had a spicy chicken dish, which they warned me was very hot and it was! Lovely though. Good portion sizes too.
