The food and service is absolutely brilliant all very welcoming and the food was full of flavor definitely coming back here again.

A restaurant that doesn't look like much, but is delicious! All over the menu the word “flavor” is written in each of the descriptions of the dishes and rightly so! Indeed, it’s an explosion of flavors. I particularly recommend the baby lobster as a starter

Had a lovely night on the 18th October 2024 table of 8 food was great not too greasy and very tasty 😋...staff (MO) was fantastic 👍our first time even though we are local. The only small issue can be parking however we had no problem that night. See you soon

Myself and two colleagues were staying in Birmingham for a conference. I booked this restaurant after reading the reviews. They did not disappoint! Staff were amazing and the food was delicious! Such a pity I live 4 hours drive away!!

Had drinks at bar wasn't very nice .service bang on ....food took .....take away ...for £20 odd pound not nice . disappointed understatement poor quality for price .shame Tough meat or no meat not fresh .

Absolutely 5 star in all areas! Service was amazing, such fun, warmth, we had such a laugh. The food was exceptional- baby lobster tandoori starter - not seen that before, and wow. Will be back soon!!

Food and service was A Class… great choice of food which tastes as good as it looks. BF really enjoyed his food and you can’t get happier than that!

Excellent restaurant. Up there with the very best I used to have in the Balti triangle (among the best restaurants I’ve ever been to for food but sadly practically all have now gone). If you like a great curry you’ll know the difference it makes going to great curry house.

Had an Amazing evening at the Simla the food and dessert's were brilliant the atmosphere was very lively and the staff were all excellent... I normally come to birmingham very often so this shall be my second home where i can dine-in in class... See you soon

I’ve eaten at the restaurant many times and food and service was great .. also had many take away meals .. however tonight I ordered a delivery the delivery man from the restaurant not a Uber or deliver third party had my address and postcode on a main road literally 10 minutes.. I had to speak to him several times to locate my address.. then items were missing from my order I had to then contact the restaurant again and after 15 minutes it was thrust in my hand no apology.. wow no more business from me I’ve spent well over £100 in the small restaurant many times but never again

We are from down south, staying at the travel lodge by the airport, we were just looming for a local Indian restaurant, and we were so glad we found this one, the menu selection was superb, and we all throughly enjoyed our food (actually really loved their nan bread, not to stodgy). Service was quick, and friendly, 100% recommend. 🙂

Went with my husband for a curry my husband’s meal had a pebble or stone in it, luckily he didn’t bite it or swallow it, we were told it had come out of the ovens. It was absolutely disgusting will never use it again

If you prefer authentic Indian cuisine, this restaurant may not be the best choice for you. Despite requesting the staff to ensure the food had an authentic taste, the meal we received was quite average. It appears that the chefs are Bangladeshi, which may explain the difference in flavor. The restaurant's name suggests Indian cuisine, and the cook is Bangladeshi, so this was a bit disappointing.

Can't fault Simla, I've been a few times and the food is always amazing, if it's not on the menu just ask and they'll do it for you, they literally bend over backwards for their customers. Lovely place, always clean, never had a problem there. Definitely worth a visit 👌🏻

I went there last night and have to say, great food and excellent customer service!

Extremely disappointed in this restaurant, visited last Thursday evening. We visit twice a year due to going to the Motor Shows at the NEC. Over 10 years, never been treated in the way we were last week. Although the owner was not present at the time. I have contacted the restaurant to let him know of our disgusting treatment, no response so here goes with the review. Arrived and welcomed by a waiter that we have seen over the years, friendly and chatty. All very pleasant, we ordered drinks with no ice, so mine came with 2 inches of ice, fair enough waiter takes the drink away to remove the ice. Unfortunately he then went to take orders from another table near the window, as we were towards the back. Another waiter approached us to see if all was ok, went to the bar, then drink brought back. Ok could be a genuine mistake, but the order was written down. Chatty waiter arrives to apologise and take our order. I asked regarding a starter with Prawns and Calamari as to whether it was in a sauce. Assured absolutely not, it was a dry meal with salad. I confidently ordered it on his response. Oh dear, when it arrived it had been cooked/tossed in a red sauce, which on trying with a tip of my fork was way to spicy for me to have. Another waiter, asked if everything was ok, to which I replied sorry no, this is not what I was led to believe to how the starter was presented, no mention of sauce on the menu and I had asked the ordering waiter. I could not eat it, my husband offered to swap with me but I knew he had been looking forward to his choice. Waiter offers for me to choose another starter that he would make sure came out quickly, which I did. The replacement starter was quick in being brought to the table, so well done on that score. The gentleman who delivered it asked if everything was ok? We still had the wrong starter plate on the table, as husband was offered it. I explained the situation and how disappointed I was in the service that evening. He went to the bar and must have had words with the chatty waiter who immediately walked quickly to our table and demanded that we were not to tell the other waiters of the problems that we had experienced. He was loud, aggressive, domineering and my husband asked him to go away, he kept talking in a raised voice. I will admit I was quite nervous at this outburst from the waiter, something I never normally experience. Several minutes a lovely waiter came to us to see if we were ok, hubby was shook up by the attitude of the former chatty man, and I was still slightly shaking. We actually asked for the bill, despite not having received our main course as both felt uneasy staying in a place such as this, where the staff feel that they can shout at customers, we commented to the other waiters about the wrong starter information as they had asked if everything was ok. He graciously said that there was no charge and that he hoped that we were not to upset with the mans outburst. Then went on to explain that he was our server for the evening. My question is then 'Why did he not introduce himself to us as he led us to a table, or take the drinks or meal order from us?? Very strange. We told him where we were staying as the owner knew the guest house owner very well and could contact her if he wanted to speak with us. A week later, no contact. To sum up, if you are happy to be treated in this way by staff members who feel that you are not worth serving and being given the correct drink or food then visit Rasa, otherwise give it a wide berth and visit other establishments in the same area for a far better experience. What did we have for our meal? Fish and Chips from a lovely shop a couple of miles away. :)

We got a take away tonight on our way to the airport. When we googled the restaurant it’s advertised as Indian, but far from it. It’s defo not Indian cuisine. The food we ordered, fish pakora, salmon tikka yogurt and chicken tikka masala. There was no salt in the food, chicken tikka masala was loaded with sugar, received plain yogurt in the name of cucumber yogurt. We never tend to leave bad reviews for food but we just couldn’t palate this food. £20 wasted. Had high hopes from this place but all the food had to unfortunately be put in the bin. Spend extra £20 to get starters from pushkar’s Birmingham after. They did drop the food off to the car hence given 4 stars. But for food it would be zilch. Disgusting food.

Authentic food, tasty Friendly excellent service

I had the Lamb Rhendang and can truly say it was excellent. The whole place was friendly and very appealing. Highly recommended.

Where has the cocktail menu gone? Food was lovely except for the veg pakora starter...little flat discs of veg and flour is not a pakora. Veg biriyani was delicious though.

While visiting Birmingham for Crufts we decided to visit Rasa for dinner as it was nearby and had good reviews. We were so pleased with the quality of the food and exceptional service at very reasonable cost. We had a delicious meal and the friendly waiters were very welcoming. Thank you. I wish we lived nearer!

The restaurant is now called Simla and the food was exceptional. The service was very good and friendly we were served by Jamil and his bald colleague who were both fantastic. The cod pakora is a must try, I also had the chefs taster meat menu which was fantastic. This is a must visit if your in the area.

Found this restaraunt on Trip Advisor whilst at the NEC for an exhibition. Absolutely delighted I did! Probably the best curry I've had. Mixed vegetable starter, lamb shank, monk fish and Peshwari naan. Delicioius and with a lightness to all of it. I live 100 miles away or else I'd be back every week!

Drinks were a little expensive. I paid over £10 for a coke . A soda water and a cobra ... don't be put off by that tho there was a very large choice of foods to have a go at we couldn't decide ... the food was never wrong on what we ordered and it came out pretty quick saying there was 15 of us and the place was rammed.. Food was the best I have tasted in a long time .I live 30 mins away so I'm sure my husband will be happy to treat me.. staff were polite and helpful . Table service for drinks so you don't have to keep going to the bar ... I would recommend it definitely to try .. out of 15 none of us had a bad thing to say .... so thank you simla you did a pretty good job x

Got to say it’s one of the worse meals we’ve had from any restaurant had the lamb curry flavourless sauce and tough dry lamb which has obviously been added to the sauce at the last minute. Wife had the sea bass curry and it smells like mackerel it’s off ransid. Really bad. Dahl is like water. Total disaster and we spent £31 for the 2 of us. First time we used this place and certainly the last.

Take away New Years Eve best for a long time

Wrecked Christmas Day at the Simla. The place was overbooked by a mile, we waited a staggering 95 minutes to be seated, it was chaos in there .My meal was a disgrace, cold dry and undercooked. No desserts left, dirty plates and glasses all over the place, blasting music that they claimed to have turned down but didn't and not one single apology for anything... We were offered a drink instead of a dessert which we declined in favour of a discount. We were offered £11 off the bill so that was under £3 discount each. We were too tired and fed up by this point so we accepted but it was poor compensation for a horrible Christmas day experience.

Very average food. Don’t get me wrong, it was nice. But it’s a confused kind of place. It’s not Indian and it’s not Bangladeshi or Pakistani and it’s not Indonesian or Malaysian but it attempts to do a bit of everything. And the Chinese style fried rice topped with scrambled egg with peas and sweetcorn had me bemused. I was looking forward to a decent curry. But it was bland, lacking in any kind of spice and definitely no identity. Not an Asian customer in sight. Says it all

We booked the Simla Friday 1 October On arrival the place was packed - and there was a band booked. We were prepared to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. The starters were fine, however, after a very long wait for the mains, they arrived cold. And when we informed the boss, he came over and said sorry, but nothing else! Not an offer to heat up the cold curries = nothing, That was unacceptable to say the least. We are willing to give Simla another chance, however we would avoid a night when the band is booked and the place is less busy. Then hopefully we will not get overlooked

Popped in for a take away after my daughter had sat in earlier and said how nice it was. Lovely chicken tikka, fried rice, keema naan and chips. Great food. Good price and lovely staff
