Zen in Portsmouth

Good food, good portions and good price.

Ordered takeaway through Just Eat and left this review there: Fantastic food! The duck in plum was a super packed portion especially and thanks for noticing the request for no onion in the chow mein. Shows it was freshly cooked!

Young person still at school served us! Even told us what school. Our chips weren't edible, just dry hard scraps. I asked for salt and pepper chips, disgusting, so dry and hard bits. Husbands omelette was small and tasteless. Will not go again. Need to improve greatly.

Friendly and clean. Food was heavily salty/msg heavy - which to some may be an appealing thing. Prawn Thai green curry had pitiful amounts of prawns which were tiny, and consistency fairly "watery". Good portion sizes otherwise for ribs, chau sew, and hot and sour soup. The ribs are quite good; but the sweet and sour soup was just too heavy handed with rice wine vinegar for my family's liking.

Shame i have to put any stars. As It wouldn’t let me post the review with none. And this place only deserves 1 star. The house Chow main was disgusting it was bland, with a clear liquid which made a horrible slim over the meat and vegetables and was absolutely swimming in garlic. And the sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, this was just sweet rather than sweet and sour and was bland with no flavour and tasted like it had about a bag of sugar in it and that was it. They should hire someone who knows how to cook and Season their food. Because their slop made me feel quite sick. I WOULD AVOID THIS TAKE AWAY AT ALL COST. NEVER AGAIN FOR ME

Placed an order. Waited well over an hour. Just as it’s due for delivery they sent a text saying the order is cancelled. No explanation and when we tried to call they kept hanging up

Confirmed a large order. Zen cancelled 5 minutes before latest stated delivery time. Had been waiting 50 minutes for the food and ended up with nothing and no explanation. Stay well clear.

Ordered from there but after complaining about item not delivered, the food we had gave us both stomach aches never go there again.

Ordered set meal for 2, we got 3 dishes and a box of fried rice and some prawn crackers. It was yummy and satisfyingly!

Amazing Chinese takeaway! All of the food was so delicious and such good value for money! Much cheaper ordering direct on the phone rather than with just eat, cost me 8 pound less direct! Food arrived quickly and was boiling hot, would definitley recommend!

I'm happy to say this was, without a doubt, IN THE TOP 5 TAKE AWAY EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE. Yes, you read that right. I'm not joking. I'm not even saying top five *Chinese* takeaways of my life. I'm including curries and stuff as well. The fine lads and ladies at Zen absolutely delivered. Crack on it, you won't be disappointed.

The perfect lockdown meal, it was like there was a party in my mouth but I couldn't taste and there was no one invited! The satay was bland and tasted of nothing there was about as much chicken in the King po as you get in a pot noodle, the Singapore noodles were more Skegness and the sweet and sour tasted like tropic squash. I will say on the plus side it was hot and came quickly. Definately one I will miss in the future.

Really great food. Excellent vegetarian options, especially the tofu dishes. Decent portion sizes too. Recommend.

Normally pretty good, this evening however, our House Special Fried rice was appalling. Slices of over cooked meat with a glut of boiled rice, mixed up to look like a House Special. We discarded the dish and rang to let them know and were told that “I’ll tell the chef”. Not good enough I’m afraid. Two stars is a generous rating for £20 worth of takeaway food that essentially wasn’t up to the mark. Bad show guys. I posted this review, as I was miffed at some of the dishes delivered and their immediate response. However, Zen have since rung me and apologised, promising to refund the cost of the dish we were unhappy with. Kudos to them, I guess a Saturday night is not the best time for them to prove themselves.

Worse Chinese food I ever had in my life! Out of a £20 order, only the thin slices of ginger in the dumplings' sauce were good...but I guess nature is responsible for that... The containers were quite good too...but I guess the manufacturer is responsible for that... I thought that I had lost all sense of taste when I ate but no! The water from the tap was full of flavours! Thank God for toothpaste and thank God for Portsmouth water! ...I can't wait to get this out of my body....

Very greasy chow mein, rubbery chicken balls that were over cooked on the outside yet pink in the middle and came with a very small tub of sauce, over cooked crispy chili chicken that tasted of nothing but burnt cardboard. The worst take away in Portsmouth that I've ever had.

Awful. Quite possibly the worst Chinese takeaway I've ordered in Portsmouth. Fatty, tasteless and the weirdest chicken I've ever put in my mouth. Don't bother
