Great lunch ..was disappointed no eyon mess on menu

I organised a lunch for blind and partially sighted people and friends at the Golden Hind on 2nd September for 17 people. We all had a great time. The food was hot and delicious and the service was excellent. Our server was Tom who went out of his way to make sure everyone had what they had ordered and anything else they needed. We look forward to our next lunch with you. Thank you.

Kudos to the two staff that were running things while we were there, they managed to keep on top of things constantly and were very attentive. Especially one who always seemed to find something to do and was aware of everything going on - unfortunately didn't get a name but thanks for the great service! The food was standard pub food, not amazing but nice enough, and no real problems to pick on. Good value for money. This was for a friend's birthday and not a location we would normally have travelled to but I guess it would qualify as a hidden gem as it isn't what you would expect from the location it is in.

Always been a joy to go too, nice food, nice staff, and a good atmosphere.

Wonderful service. Ordered food and arrived very quickly. Servers are kind, and very friendly. During my visit, I was served by a lovely waitress, Denisa, Who was extremely helpful throughout my time there. Would come again.

We had a small gathering for a wake, the food was lovely although they overdid the horseradish sauce on beautiful roast beef sandwiches, reasonably priced and we didn't have to pay extra for an exclusive area

We ordered food and even though the pub was busy food only took 15mins to arrive. We ordered the tex mex sharing platter, 3 small plates and a cheese and bacon burger. All the food was extremely well presented and tasted delicious. Such great value for money. I highly recommend a visit.

Just been in for lunch with a few friends .the food was lovely and the guys working the bar were lovely and very pleasant making it a very enjoyable experience. We will be back .

Great place to have a birthday meal, the food was really good and the service was fantastic friendly atmosphere welcoming. We wanted desserts quite late but we were able to get them, definitely would recommend and return back here.

Can't comment on food, only went for quiz, which was good fun. Decent selection of good ales and beers, good size car park.

Had a burger meat tasted burnt. Had maybe 1/4 a leave of lettuce on it 2 rings of oinon. And 2 slices of tomatoes about 10p in size each.

Came here last night with my family for a drink and a meal. The menu has a couple of vegan options, which is great. However, I was given the chicken version of the dish I ordered, rather than the quorn one. When we sent it back, Liam who served us, could not have been more apologetic. He sorted it straight away and even offered me a drink on the house. It was such a lovely gesture and I just want to thank Liam for his amazing service. The food was lovely, great value too. The bar people are really friendly too. We will definitely be back again in the future.

Typical pub food, rather small in size. It is a pub so don't expect it to be quiet. Food was cooked well and nice

Grew up in Pompey and never been in here. I didn't realise how big it was. It's good to see it is like a regular. Lot of people popping in for a pint after work. As evening come lots of families. Excellent beer. Excellent food Great service. I thought I'd posted this last year. Oh well all still applicable apart from this being my third/fourth visit.

We went here for a roast. Used to be a carvery years ago but now it is already plated up. It was ok however, we both had the beef and turkey duo and only one small slice of each meat. Bit stingy.

First time visit, absolutely loved it! I was treated to a mother's day lunch, opted for the roast - didn't read the menu and it was a carvery... WINNERRRRR!! Given a glass of prosecco on arrival, and an afternoon of live music adding to the cosy vibes of mothering Sunday = Perfection!

Went for lunch on Wednesday with my parents. Had great service from Ryan and another male member of staff. Very friendly nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious but could have been a bit hotter. Well done !

Had our Works Xmas function there today, we had the fixed Xmas Menu and it was brilliant from start to finish, the food was great, portions were great and the service was great, the staff coped with our two fussy eaters and late arrivals admirably too, can't praise them enough. If you having booked your function yet - this is the place 👌 👍👍👍

Amazing Service, Brilliant Food

Overall a decent standard green king pub. Well kept beer and tasty pub grub. Nothing amazing, but the staff are great and the place is clean. Although a chain pub, has the feel of a friendly local.

Good value meals super pub lots of room and car park, great day time pub.

Very lively Friday evening but staff were great, food good and a decent bottle of Sav Blanc for less than £20!

You can get a sharing platter for a good price. The drinks are a bit expensive but the food is a good price and very good value for money. There is a lot of room at the back if you want privacy. I only found one toilet near the door...there may be bigger ones but didn't see. So not sure what baby changing area situation is like. Overall nice pub to pop into

Wife and I popped in for a midweek treat and ordered from the meal deal menu. 2 mains for under £15. Both went for something we'd had before. I had the fish and chips. Nice light batter, crispy chips and plenty of mushy peas. Not spectacular but tasty enough and good value. My wife had the Katsu chicken curry which is always delicious. Service was friendly and food arrived quickly. No complaints from us.

Fish well overcooked, so obvious as very dark brown batter, couldn’t cut into it, that chef should have not let it be served.

Perfect as Always! Andrew, Chris Ben and the team are accommodating and friendly. Great Service, great atmosphere and as always perfect food. Great place to take the family, good price too. We had the 2 fish and chips for £16 something. Quick food and the kids loved their food. Inside is really nice and lots of places to sit

Myself and family lovely food + drinks good portions couldn't eat dessert as too full up didn't have to wait long for food very nice atmosphere definitely recommend to visit will come again

Went,with 14 people my meal chicken and ham pie was very good but there were some people didn't like the way the burgers where cooked but staff apologised and refunded there meal. But all in all, very good

Awfully food. med. Sirloin steak over cooked 8 chips 2 onion rings and rocket with garlic sauce £17+ the lady next to me had beef burgers that, burnt you could not eat them she had ordered a cheese ond bacon burger, chicken and ham pie had 3 tiny bits of chichen in and some shreaded bits of ham, and crusts on some pies needed steak knife to cut when I told the young waiter about the overcooked steak the first time he just ignored me but said he would tell the chef the second time, he agreed the burgers were to burnt to eat so didn't charge her. This is not what you expect when you go out for a meal with a group of friends or what you expect from a Green King pub.

Not enough vegetables with the roast dinner and it looked like it had been reheated will not be going there again

Hunters chicken sent back to kitchen because it was cold, it returned cremated. If you want microwaved meals this is the place to eat.

It was ok, i met my daughter for an evening meal. The food was ok ordered through the app. So much salt on the fries they were inedible but the burger was ok. Ordered another beer from the server which never arrived.

Easter Sunday 2023 Got there at 4. Quite busy. Went to get 3rd pint. Very busy. Only one fella behind the bar. QUEUE! 5th to be served with only this guy pouring the pints. We left. C'mon boss, get the staff in £££££s lost surely.

Came to the quiz on wednesday and the food was amazing, great service from a young lady who’s name i think was Tam

Very poor service. The pub says dog friendly, it is not. Very limited seating if you have a dog. This is not like most Greene King pubs that are very pet friendly.

Used this place lots of times but my last visit was awful. Food was bad , order was wrong but corrected. My friends dinner was like a hospital meal ! Instant mash and over cooked brocoli. When we complained nothing was done to rectify the issues.

Not for me quite pricy glass of coke small was £3.50 rip of , half the menu was out of stock

Slow service. Had to collect our app-ordered drinks from the bar (20 mins after ordering where I was told people who order at the bar take priority over app orders) Hot plate, lukewarm food. Shrivelled peas and wilted broccoli, poor excise of a roast dinner (the gravy was OK and plenty of it though 👍) Bar was full of dirty glasses. Serval tables around us left during our visit and were not cleared. From placing the order, it took an hour for food to arrive, with our child's meal coming first then ours following about 10 minutes later. Nobody came to advise of the wait time for food (which although probably not a policy, would've been nice) and no apologies were made once the food was delivered. (Also no check back, probably due to being embarrassed at the state of the food......I imagine) Just appalling to be honest. Such a shame
