Excellent service from chloe tonight we will be back again also the hot honey chicken burger aka THE MORRISSEY MASSIVE was fantastic from the Morrissey's

Came in yesterday lunch for the deal, and wanted the steak sandwich only to be told they were out of the bread. Normally this would have been a problem, but the young man was very apologetic on the bar and said I could have a tortilla instead and it was delightful. Peppers were charred perfectly and the steak was a beautiful medium rare. The cheese sauce was also really gooey. Will definitely be coming here again for their Steak Thursday deal!

Came in today with my family for a nice Easter weekend lunch and there was a drag act dancing and singing in what only could be described at something that should be worn in the bedroom !!!! Not suitable for a pub advertised as a family pub especially when we had 2 small children with us we won’t be back as this was disgraceful, the service was shocking the staff seemed more interested in the people with some kind of vouchers and the male behind the bar who I was told was the manager was very stressed and rude we have been to a few green king pubs recently and received better service and food just up the road at the star and garter was better even with there such small menu also the thatched house was better than this place

Came in for food with my partner on Thursday just gone, was delicious. Everything exceeded expectations, would definitely come back again.

Ordered a bunch of the katsu chicken chips while I was there in the afternoon 18/4/25) and can say they exceeded my expectations. Would 100% order them again whenever I'm there.

We recently moved to the area and this is our local pub which we absolutely love! The staff cannot be any more helpful if they tried. Especially Ryan who is an absolute gem, always there for a chat and serves the best pints there. He’s an asset to the pub. Service is amazing. Although the food is pretty bog standard pub grub, it’s always quick and with a smile. Very much recommend the Golden Hind!

Worst pub we've been to in a very long time, unfortunately. We had reserved a table and made clear that it was a special occasion. We weren't even greeted when we arrived and so went up to the bar to ask where our table was. A very uninterested young bloke asked for our drinks order first (we weren't even sat yet) before showing us a tiny table right opposite the toilets. Should've followed my instincts really and left, but seeing as we were there, we ordered food. The only reason why I'm giving 2 stars is because my husband quite liked his burger, which wasn't even served with the rosemary skin on fries it was sold with but with cheap freezer fries. For almost 30 mins after we had finished the food, the plates were sitting on our tiny table so we had to finish our drinks with crossed arms, as there was no place on the table to rest them on. Waiters came by at least every 30 seconds and cleared glasses from every single table but ours. At some point, the waiter dropped a used napkin on the floor, looked at my husband "so sorry about that", my husband felt he had to pick it up and put it on our still on the table sitting plates. Even after this, the same waiter passed by our table another 3 times with empty hands, not clearing the plates. We had enough and left. Needless to say, we won't come back. We're hoping for the countless families with screaming kids running all over the place that this pub is just what they're wanting, sadly it's not for couples wanting a decent quiet meal.

Fantastic pub, visited on 21st and on arrival was kindly greeted by the bar staff, excellent service and lovely food too, was attended to while having my meal being asked if everything was okay and if I wanted any more drinks in which I asked for a coffee and it was brought straight to me with a receipt for the bill the waiter said take your time enjoy your meal and pay when you've finished. Outstanding service asked the server his name, so would like to thank Ryan for great service and Tom I think Ryan said his name. I was overwhelmed by how welcome they made me feel. Will return.

Ordered food....was terrible and soggy, tried to take it back but Andrew the manager was very rude and said HE thought the food looked OK. We are not that fussy but really the food and the attitude means we will NEVER return. Avoid at all costs if you want to eat. Beer was OK and other bar staff were ok. 1star is too much. Hope Andrews manager realises his customer service skills

Staff at the Golden Hind go above and beyond every time myself and my little family visit. Food is always delicious, good atmosphere and a lovely family environment. Special tribute to Alex who is always very polite and caring.

We was having a great time. The food came out late we asked for the starters to come out with the main meals but they didn't and when the food did arrive it was over cooked dry and cold and it was very late. The lady toilets need to be painted

Went to the Golden Hind with a friend for a meal. We both had Hunter's Chicken and it was really lovely. The service was very good as well.

Golden Hind is how I remember it after all the time spent in there over past few years. Pub is still quite tidy and had a good visit there this time. Good alternative pub to others in the area.Only had a drink there on this occasion.

I organised a lunch for blind and partially sighted people and friends at the Golden Hind on 2nd September for 17 people. We all had a great time. The food was hot and delicious and the service was excellent. Our server was Tom who went out of his way to make sure everyone had what they had ordered and anything else they needed. We look forward to our next lunch with you. Thank you.

Kudos to the two staff that were running things while we were there, they managed to keep on top of things constantly and were very attentive. Especially one who always seemed to find something to do and was aware of everything going on - unfortunately didn't get a name but thanks for the great service! The food was standard pub food, not amazing but nice enough, and no real problems to pick on. Good value for money. This was for a friend's birthday and not a location we would normally have travelled to but I guess it would qualify as a hidden gem as it isn't what you would expect from the location it is in.

Wonderful service. Ordered food and arrived very quickly. Servers are kind, and very friendly. During my visit, I was served by a lovely waitress, Denisa, Who was extremely helpful throughout my time there. Would come again.

We had a small gathering for a wake, the food was lovely although they overdid the horseradish sauce on beautiful roast beef sandwiches, reasonably priced and we didn't have to pay extra for an exclusive area

We ordered food and even though the pub was busy food only took 15mins to arrive. We ordered the tex mex sharing platter, 3 small plates and a cheese and bacon burger. All the food was extremely well presented and tasted delicious. Such great value for money. I highly recommend a visit.

Just been in for lunch with a few friends .the food was lovely and the guys working the bar were lovely and very pleasant making it a very enjoyable experience. We will be back .

Had a burger meat tasted burnt. Had maybe 1/4 a leave of lettuce on it 2 rings of oinon. And 2 slices of tomatoes about 10p in size each.

Came here last night with my family for a drink and a meal. The menu has a couple of vegan options, which is great. However, I was given the chicken version of the dish I ordered, rather than the quorn one. When we sent it back, Liam who served us, could not have been more apologetic. He sorted it straight away and even offered me a drink on the house. It was such a lovely gesture and I just want to thank Liam for his amazing service. The food was lovely, great value too. The bar people are really friendly too. We will definitely be back again in the future.

Typical pub food, rather small in size. It is a pub so don't expect it to be quiet. Food was cooked well and nice

Grew up in Pompey and never been in here. I didn't realise how big it was. It's good to see it is like a regular. Lot of people popping in for a pint after work. As evening come lots of families. Excellent beer. Excellent food Great service. I thought I'd posted this last year. Oh well all still applicable apart from this being my third/fourth visit.

We went here for a roast. Used to be a carvery years ago but now it is already plated up. It was ok however, we both had the beef and turkey duo and only one small slice of each meat. Bit stingy.

First time visit, absolutely loved it! I was treated to a mother's day lunch, opted for the roast - didn't read the menu and it was a carvery... WINNERRRRR!! Given a glass of prosecco on arrival, and an afternoon of live music adding to the cosy vibes of mothering Sunday = Perfection!

Went for lunch on Wednesday with my parents. Had great service from Ryan and another male member of staff. Very friendly nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious but could have been a bit hotter. Well done !

Had our Works Xmas function there today, we had the fixed Xmas Menu and it was brilliant from start to finish, the food was great, portions were great and the service was great, the staff coped with our two fussy eaters and late arrivals admirably too, can't praise them enough. Overall a decent standard green king pub. Well kept beer and tasty pub grub. Nothing amazing, but the staff are great and the place is clean. Although a chain pub, has the feel of a friendly local.

Very lively Friday evening but staff were great, food good and a decent bottle of Sav Blanc for less than £20!
