O'Neill's in Portsmouth

Had a very tasty meal at a reasonable price. Good selection of beers. Had football on the TVs but we felt the volume was far too high especially as the majority of people in bar were not watching it.

Desert arrived before main, manager seemed to be annoyed it was politely sent back? “No Blacks, No dogs, no Irish” policy seems to have stuck around. Experienced what can only be described discriminatory treatment towards customers who happened to be black. General manager Matthew Webster just smugly smirked when challenged on his abhorrent behaviour.

Booked an early evening meal prior to theatre trip. Food was excellent and great value. Super bar staff - efficient and friendly. I do not live in the area but it will be my first choice of venue when booking a pre theatre meal again. Thank you.

Always a good place to watch the football or any sport. Drinks on the expensive side but it's southsea at the end of the day. Always clean.

Used the app and it was a bit slow on the drinks as only 1 person was on the bar and the non app customers were a priority so we had nearly finished our food before they came

Family Meal.... The venue was quiet and relaxing. I was greeted with a smile and friendly helpful service. The table was clean The menu offers a good choice,though would like to see more vegan options. The food was served hot and well displayed and tasted lovely. Excellent service throughout our time there. Will definitely be returning and would recommend this venue.

The pub itself is reasonably nice good location and nice size garden for Albert road staff seemed welcoming and the food was nice but a very limited menu

As a chef for Mitchell and butlers I am disappointed with this Albert road establishment..staff are reluctant to come out of their confer zone and greet customers especially as a tourist touring for eateries this is one pub which is run as a club and has forgotten about the Irish theme as an eatery..gold star for disappointment ☹️☹️☹️

Nice pub, we didn't eat there we just went it for a drink

Avoid food atm just wanted a snack 5 x chips and onion rings has taken almost an hour still haven't got half our order. Leaving now after 1hr 15mins had to get a refund.

Had a lovely evening watching ladies football with two friends. Guinness and steak pie, cheese chicken pie and veggie sausage and mash. All very tasty. Thank you. Will go again. Very helpful staff Grill was not working so option's restricted.

What a dump. 1/3rd full yet every vacant/available table was covered in beer glasses/bottles and plates of food. Some 1/2 eaten. Disinterested staff moped around not giving a crap. 3 on duty. 1 guy just looking at his phone walking up and down behind the bar ignoring the 6 punters waiting. 2 females "serving"...a joke. Serve 1 order then walk back into the kitchen walkway and spend a minute or two on her phone then bimble back with a "who's next then". After waiting 15 minutes....bear in mind the pub was only 1/3rd full....we walked out across the road to The Porter. Smiling welcome, got a beer, sat down to a clean table and ordered food from a server who came to the table!

Not a good start when they could not find our booking, although there was availability so we were soon seated. Not the fault of the staff (who were all very nice and helpful) but we were sat next to 2 groups of peope who were conversing as if they were in a helicopter. We ordered sausage and mash and scampi and chips which both came with peas. The peas were horrible, not sure how you can ruin frozen peas but they looked and tasted unappetizing, to say the least. As I was still hungry I ordered salted caramel profiteroles. We waited quite a long time for them to arrive and when they did, there were not quite frozen but were very hard and very cold. We were going to the local theatre so did not have time to take this up with anyone (we had mentioned the peas to a very apologetic server). No one came near us to ask if everything was ok the whole time we were there. So in short the environment was not pleasant due to people shouting conversations and the food was poor. We will not be eating here again.

Super casual dress code, decent selection of beers and ciders, large outdoor smoking area with a good selection of tables inside.

Brilliant band, Rhythm City, really got everyone dancing and singing. Great drinks service. Easy to book a table.

Friendly service, 2 main meals for less than £11 Mond to Friday 12 to 4pm. No real ale sadly. Attentive staff. Worth a visit for food if nothing else.

Wonderful service by 3 fantastic girls (leah, sini & sara). We had the steak & a few of the small sharing plates. Food was divine & the cocktails that followed were lovely! Will be back soon. Can't wait to see what you guys do on St Patricks! Nicky, Rob & Rita xx

We came to the pub before the theater. Although we were advised the food had a long wait, we ordered anyway. The food didn't come out in time, but Zara made a huge effort to ensure we could have it after the show. Zara has made our experience at O'Neill's brilliant and we would return in the future. What a legend.

We came for lunch before a show at the local theatre it was really busy and there was a long wait for Zara the manager on for the day was really helpful and accommodating and went out of her way to sort out our food which was lovely really made our visit thank you she is a great asset to the pub !

This is always my go to place when visiting family in southsea, the atmosphere is always fun, the staff are amazing and the food is always good and served quickly and always with a smile, if your in the area make sure you visit, you won’t regret it. Already looking forward to my next visit.

Great Irish pub, very friendly staff. Have had a couple of birthdays and a small wedding reception here. Which Shannon and Zara kindly decorated for us, which allowed us to enjoy helping our daughter get ready for her big day. Food was absolutely delicious and the staff couldn’t be more attentive. Shannon made sure our drinks were always full and that everyone was having fun. Definitely our go to pub.

Have been coming here for a while now and will continue to do so. Staff are very attentive and go above and beyond to serve their customers. Shannon , Chris, Matt and Kev are always polite and have great knowledge of deals and offers that are running, like the happy hour!.Food has been great everytime , never had any issues. Friendly environment even on match days. An all rounder family friendly pub that has everything to offer.

The frequent change of staff and the indifference of the owners made my group ( approximately 8-20 people) to make the decision to leave this place after 6 years... a group that came to this place twice a month... the indifference of the owners is specific to this city, not being the only place with the same wrong policy.

Great place for a works do, we were really well looked after by the team, good value and made very comfortable 👍

Went quite recently and was lovely my server was Leah I believe and she was so polite and respectful, I had trouble reading but she helped me with things I struggled with, would 100% come back again due to her, couldn’t thank someone enough!!

Great food, lovely staff and the drinks are so reasonably priced! Special thanks to the assistant manager Zara and the Bar lady Leah for taking care of me at my stay! All and all I’d put more than 5 stars if I could!

Came in for a night out, the band was amazing, really recommend going in for the music, the bar staff were just as amazing with their service and how lovely they were, the assistant manager was brilliant, and so were the two bar staff who served me whilst there, Chris- the American one, and Leah, one of the best barmaids I have had in Pompey

Lovely lunch, highly recommended. I had a very specific alteration I requested a different base for my pizza, and they were only too happy to oblige.
