The Beach Club in Portsmouth

Hele leuke strandtent in Portsmouth. We konden lekker buiten zitten. Daar heb je uitzicht over het water en de boten die vanaf de haven vertrekken en aankomen , zoals de hovercraft en de veerboot, natuurlijk ook kleinere bootjes. Je ziet van alles terwijl netjes en vriendelijk word geholpen. We hebben ook heerlijk gegeten en het zag er netjes verzorgd uit. Je loopt door het restaurant heen om bij het buiten terras te komen. Dan zie je ook het zeer leuke interieur binnen.

The reason for my score is based on the response to a problem, we only had two coffees, nice coffee, but luke warm. We drank them but just mentioned it at the till, they offered our money back, we didn't take it as we had drunk the coffee, we were then offered a free cake or scone to take away👍

Lovely breakfast freshly cooked nice and hot, lovely coffee selection. Very pleasant staff very attentive , great location

Just stopped here for a coffee on a glorious sunny fall day. Too bad they're closing for 1.5 years but we'll definitely be back when they reopen!

I will start off by saying I went in for a snack as a takeaway…..it was a lovely day and I wanted to eat on the beach. The restaurant was packed, it has an outdoor area which people loved on a hot day. I had their onion rings and I will say that they were delicious. They were gluten free and the batter was still crispy, they were huge and clearly just cooked. The only point I will make about Gf is that I asked for onion rings and clarified they were GF and was told i needed to ask. This is fine, but on their menu they are listed as GF and they have other foods listed as AGF (available gluten free) so I feel like the onion rings should be recorded as that. For accessibility, I walked into the restaurant via the main entrance which was flat, it is spacious inside. I did not see their toilets but definitely seemed like an accessible space but wheelchair users would need to check. Though I did not have a chance to taste more of their menu, they have many gluten free options….i was really impressed. When I am next in the area I hope to try other parts of their menu

We ordered normal coffees but waiter brought ice coffees. He took them back and then brought normal coffees that were lukewarm. Chips were stone cold. I asked for the chips to be changed, and they did. Food was really unpleasant, very annoyed with myself as should have sent it all back. Terrible meal lovely location. So disappointing. A waste of money was overpriced and did not deliver. Would not return for food.

One of the most inconsistent places to eat or drink. Food is ok. It’s the wait staff that really lets this place suffer.

So today we had a fundraiser event next door, unfortunately the lady who was bringing brownies had a car accident on way to the event. A few couldn’t come because they were poorly. We popped in to get some brownies/hot drinks from here. The staff very kindly gave the whole lot for free- they even brought it over. The leader of the event was very emotional over their kindness!. Thank you so much the service and food/drink was 10/10. You truly made our day even more special. Thank you.

Have been visiting for years and sadly the service has progressively gotten worse. I understand that they are closing due to the seafront redevelopment but it’s a shame. I think waiting 20 minutes for a coke and watch staff standing around when other staff clearly working their socks off. The manager was not much better. We go back 2026!

Went in for a late lunch early dinner.We were created and sat down. We had a look at the menu and waited. We put our menu aside to show we were ready. Looked around we could see at least 6/7 waiter/waitresses talking, walking round. About 25mins still nothing not even a drinks order taken. Menu isn't that big. We had to ask one of the waiters that was cleaning the table if we could take our order. He was very smiley and the guy that took our order was friendly and smiley too . These 2are why you got a 3on service. We were there for about 1hr 40mins for 1drink and 1main. Gluten free f&c is what got us through the door. I would try it again it but it is expensive for what it is.

Good all rounder. Its a shame they're closing to allow costal defenses to be built.

We didn't eat here, so we can't comment on the food. However, the location was fantastic. Service very friendly. Great cocktails and wine. Lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon.

Beautiful location, food wasn't good. Foccacia was Sourdough bread with Cheese on. Staff okay but nothing special in terms of service, just take your order. Glasses dirty, Rose bad (the most expensive by the glass - it's hard for rose to be bad) very expensive prices for what is on par with weatherspoons quality.

Arrived and asked if we were eating and drinking. Agreed we were. Told we could sit outside, but only to the right. Sat right against the screen, so that when the waves crashed, they went straight over us. Had tea and scones. Had to ask for the jam. The cream wasn't clotted. Tea pot only made one cup. They could have filled it up. Surely hot water doesn't cost a lot. We had to go and look for a member of staff to pay. Can't see us going back.

Stopped here for a drink and maybe food. The location is great over looking the sea. Waited ages to get served and it was not very busy even though itvwas a bank holiday Monday. Just 2 drinks and the waiter asked if we needed anything else. Sugar would be good. He never came back. The table next to usbtried to get served whilst eating what looked like amazing food and they got ignores. Another table by us also got ignored and not bothered with. We did not order food after seeing and experiencing the service which was a shame. The place looks fantastic, the location is fantastic, the food looks fantastic, the service is shockingly bad.

Three of us came here for lunch yesterday and we chose three different meals. The food arrived in good time and we were all very pleased, well cooked and very tasty. The staff were courteous and pleasant too and the prices quite reasonable. Top marks.

For £17 I would expect a juicy high quality fluffy crispy chicken burger, but just seemed like a standard breaded frozen chicken burger from the pound saver section of a supermarket. It doesnt cost much to make a decent chicken burger. Service was good.

I found this place by accident and came in for a drink. The place is beautiful inside and out and makes you feel like you are on Holiday. The food is phenomenal! I come for my birthday and had one of the nicest evenings I have had in a very long time. Highly recommend

I attended the restaurant after my sons graduation. From the outside, it just looked like a basic little seaside restaurant. Walk through the restaurant, and out the back is a table area with amazing sea views. The food portions and quality were like a top London restaurant. Plus, a range of gluten-free meals for my son was the cherry on the top bonus. Staff were friendly, helpful and had a great sense of humour. Highly recommended this place to anyone visiting or living in Portsmouth

Difficult to rate because it is so inconsistent. Have had great service and meals but equally appalling ones, all for a relatively high price point. Guess that's why it's popular with tourists and not locals

Pretty average to be fair, tables very sticky and not clean. Service was OK, but nothing special, asked about desserts and server rallied off at a thousand knots various flavours of ice cream, but too much info to comprehend so quick. The platter we had of meats and cold cuts was very basic, minimal flavours, and frankly looked like a packet from tesco, the dough balls were bizarre, but not edible as soaked in oil, literally dripping. Overall a nice enough place, but could do soooo much better, especially at the price point.

Good food. Lovely spot. Polite, friendly staff, could do with more staff at busy times, especially at the hatch. Great outdoor areas to dine in. Dog friendly. Toilets were unfortunately dirty on all three of our visits.

The table service experience is absolutely awful. Waitresses are slow and forget things from orders. It was not a busy time but we had to wait only for drinks over 30 mins because they forgot the orders. Joke. It is worth minus 5 stars. 👎

Fab place, great service... food has loads of flavour but not for the faint hearted as very very very spicy...kind suggestion to the chef chilly can alway be added but can not taken away, I would suggest not putting in so many chilly flakes when cooking and allowing people to 'top up' by using sauce or chilli flakes a bit like salt to make it suit their favour plalete..otherwise great and I will certainly come back :)

Walked in and a short while later walked out. Being "run" by a group of young lads who in the short time we were in there two of them were having a row which rather than stopping they finished before they took us to get seated, tables were left uncleared, another two of them then had words about a bill one of them had got wrong and then they just ignored us, served people who were seated after us and clearly had no idea between the numerous staff in there that noone has bothered to come over to us. When we walked out, explaining we had just been left sitting there for a good fifteen minutes the staff member at the door who I handed the menus back to called me "love". I don't think so. Absolute cluster of a venue and my partner said toilets were disgusting. Perhaps getting a proper manager in there might help and getting staff to dress somewhat more professionally would go a long way too. No vegan options either which nowadays is simply not good enough.

Sorry to say we waited over half an hour for 2 pints and a ginger beer. Pretty criminal to be honest. Edit: the comped our order. Well redeemed.

Popped in for drinks and pleasantly surprised lovely venue & views felt like I was on holiday as sunny day. Staff great and even made cocktails which weren’t on the menu. Although we didn’t eat here the fish & chips looked amazingly yummy. Will definitely come back great atmosphere

My nephew had booked a family birthday party at The Beach Bar. The staff were absolutely brilliant with the children and nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely, I would definitely recommend The Beach bar and will definitely be going there again. Tom who looked after during our visit was absolutely brilliant. He was so busy but nothing was too much trouble and he was brilliant with kids. Good luck Tom in your career👍

Frozen chips, fish was awful, definitely not cod, batter was the only edible bit, overpriced. Only positive thing were the staff who were excellent. Would not recommend fish and chips.

We stopped here for our last treat of our short break. We had wine and cocktails and some snacks. The staff were super friendly. The double cooked chips were ridiculously yummy. The onion rings were seriously delicious. And the garlic dough balls were, frankly, dangerous.

I had the salt and pepper squid which was exquisite. Served by the wonderful Oscar.

Only 1 vegan option on the menu which is the avocado on toast They can make the vegetarian breakfast vegan, which is what I asked for today. They removed the eggs, haloumi and butter... nothing added and still charged £13. Breakfast was generally depressing. I think they use to offer more vegan options here but maybe it was mozzarella Joe's then.

I work from here most days it’s sunny, it’s like I’m on holiday but working. Great staff and highly accommodating. I would like to see more vegetarian options on the menu

Nice bar-restaurant. service was on the slow side, considering it wasn't that busy and we only wanted drinks. Table left with empty glasses when seated, had to ask to be cleared. The food did look good and the staff were very pleasant.

Popped in as never been eaten there. Super friendly server, but the food service was far from adequate. Order was taken and took an age to come to the table and when it did it was wrong. I left, but they did give me a full refund. May revisit, as i can't be unlucky twice

Great food, hard working staff even when busy. Manager was very attentive.

Usually was a good place but this time was awful. They couldn't find a place for us even that four tables was empty on front of us. After few minutes they placed us at the dirty table. Ordered food and nearly hour later didn't receive even drinks. We tried to catch someone but waitress preferred to chat with each other. We left!

We had a great night. We were a bit older than most, we took my inlaws for their 75th birthdays but they are very young 75 year olds!! and they loved it too!, It was nice to go out and do something different and the music was really good (it is loud but not nightclub loud!) and the sharing dishes were gorgeous and plenty for us. If it had been the right weather, good old England, the outside area would have been perfect, the outside area is stunning and watching the ships kept us busy!!, We did have one out there with blankets! The staff were all lovely and were as helpful as they could be. Thank you everyone we had a great night.

Honestly one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant , staff went out of the way to provide great service and I felt very welcomed . At first the prices seemed steep but then when the food came out it was well worth the price and wait. I seriously recommend to anyone to visit. Great location and loverly scenes at sunset. Further more , the waiter Aj was very sweet , fast and was there if we had any questions or help needed - she got right too it . A loverly member of staff you have. A serious reflection she shows and gives to your restaurant.

The best sunday roast my wife and I have had in Portsmouth at The beach club on Southsea seafront we had roast beef 6 veg roast potatoes they where all cooked with herb and spices and the flavours where cooked to perfection including the gravy ,the staff are a credit to the place nothing is too much for them helpful but not over the top,it was cold outside and we sat near a wood burner And I've not been this warm for a long time!! we will be back again

I honestly don't think there's many (if any) better places to have a drink on a warm summer's day in the UK. Spectacular views, really friendly staff.

We came with a party of 12 and safe to say none of us is ever coming back. The service was simply appalling and it actually ruined the experience for us. Food was average at best and it definitely not made up for how just how bad the service was. The waiters were not coming to the table and when they did they were borderline rude, took orders wrong, food and drinks took ages to come. I'm saying 20 minutes waiting for a drink and having to ask for it 5 times to the staff. We were waiving for ages every time we needed to order or pay, and no one looked at us. And don't get me started about the bill. Members of the group were paying separately and the staff was not taking the money from the total bill and it was chaos to sort it out. To give another example of how slow and disorganised the service is, there were plenty of empty tables and a queue forming outside because they were taking bloody hours to get people seated. The lack of organisation in this place is unbelievable as well as the impoliteness of the staff. Honestly it ruined the day.

Lovely location. Outside terrace is enclosed so sheltered from the breeze, great sun trap. Recommend the cocktails.

We have come away for the weekend from Kent and found this lovely place whilst looking on google maps for ideas. we went to the sundown supper club. The music was good all night, food & drink was tasty, friendly staff and excellent service. We had a wonderful view of the sunset only problem it was a bit cold this time of year but we wrapped up and moved to a table inside when the sun had gone down. We had a lovely evening and would definitely come back next time we come away. Thanks for an enjoyable evening

I went here for lunch after a ferry trip. The close proximity, outside seating and the variety on the menu made this the perfect choice. We were greeted and seated by friendly staff who gave enough time to get settled and look at the menu before taking our order. The drinks came out quickly and about 15mins later the food all came out at once. This was perfect as there is nothing worse then finishing your food when others are just starting. As you can see by the photo, the view was amazing and the food was cooked to perfection. It's a long way from home but definitely happy to make the journey back. Compliments to the chef, not only the food was quick, it was high quality, hot and great. Speaking with the chefs the kitchen was clean and maintained. Just amazing food quality

Both had the panko chicken burger. A bit of rubbery chicken on a bun, no avocado as advertised and a few fries for £14 each!! Nice settings but not good value for money. £17 for fish and chips!!!!!!!! 😳🙈

More comfortable than my 1st visit sometime ago. The coffee was enjoyable and hot.

Tried to book a table and the system wouldn't allow bookings after 4pm. Tried to enquire why and the service was non existent. Made a call and the person was quite rude. Took our custom to a more customer friendly place

Really sorry to say this as the setting is lovely (on a sunny day) and the staff are helpful, but my daughter, 2yr grand-daughter and myself spent over £65 for a very poor ‘tapas’ lunch. We excitedly ordered Pork belly bites, of which there were plenty, but they went untouched as they were very fatty, not cooked to crispy perfection at all, and they were tasteless. The garlic prawns had no flavour, the feta cooked in honey was nice, thankfully, the baked bread was very nice , the bruschetta was weak with halved uncooked tomatoes placed on top. This really could have been so much more prepared, so much better than it was. Setting nice, staff need more training, kitchen take more care, time and skill in preparing.

Was awful from start to finish started off with swarms of flies which i get is out of their control but then we waited way over 45 minuites for our food no acknowledgement from the staff (manager was sat at the bar on the phone for whole time)and then the food was tasteless and soggy will never be back even had to pay full price after all that went wrong

A nice place but very disappointed on our trip there last night. The night was advertised as a night with cocktails but when we arrived, the bartender told us that they weren’t doing cocktails that evening as they expected it to get busy! At the time, there was hardly anyone there too! :( Very disappointing to see this false advertising as one of the draws for us was the cocktails and we paid £10 each to get in too! Not happy! Not even a sorry was forthcoming, let alone a free drink which I felt could have been offered in way of an apology!

Stopped here for some lunch, after visiting southsea with our 3 dogs. Had a nice lunch, and drink. Food was reasonably priced, and dogs welcome within the restaurant.

My honest experience of this places was actually really good and I definitely enjoyed it! Pretty views and the food was absolutely delicious! However the service wasn’t too great for how amazing everything else was. The lady with blonde highlighted hair who was hosting had a terrible attitude and definitely didn’t feel like a warm welcome. We had asked for seats inside because of how cold it was and was quickly denied rudely and told we had to sit outside anyways because of the lack of space, which was totally fair and we didn’t complain however, there are definitely ways you can speak to people especially when working in a professional environment and when we want to spend money at this place. We did infact sit outside however it was absolutely freezing despite the rather immaculate view! We later had asked to move back inside if there was an empty table, which a young lady with dark brown hair had been able to sort out for us which was amazing! However I had seen her asking for permission from the same lady who had denied us at the very start and it looked as if she was annoyed we was asking again and couldn’t be bothered to deal with it even though I was very polite and even said sorry about asking again. We ended up enjoying our amazing food and cocktails inside away from the cold and honestly apart from that had a great experience! Wish I knew the ladies names as there where defo some superstars working that day apart from one unfortunately. I also know how it was working in hospitality so didn’t want to be that annoying customer and understood that probably through the day the blonde lady might have become abit tired but even so I definitely didn’t feel a warm welcome from her at all and she didn’t seem professional! However will defo come back to enjoy the food and atmosphere!! Was absolutely lush!! Need the kitchen staff at my own house ahaha

One of the best vegan roasts I’ve had. Lovely setting and excellent service!

Perfectly situated right on the seafront of southsea beach. Offering great views of the solent whilst enjoying great food, including fish and chips ,burgers, and pizzas. It can get very busy during summer months so booking ahead is advised. Highly recommended.

Most delicious breakfast. But the star was the chorizo spinach potato & poached egg. Highly recommend

I was so surprised by this smashing restaurant on the beach front. The staff were really attentive, the food was delicious and dogs are very welcome.

I don’t normally post but this place is so comfortable and welcoming. The arrabiatta was the best ever I’ve ever tasted. The staff are so lovely and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing.

Amazing had lunch with a friend l, food was lush staff where great non alcoholic options spot on!

Generous portions. Tasty food. Polite staff. Like the beleric tunes. Good scenery.
