Well, I might be old fashioned. But, to queue, to pay, to get a device which buzz when my coffee is ready, then to get the device back to the tills and get my coffee... Felt like my own waiter... Could bring my coffee from home and have it on the beach... What's the difference? Why don't they do this in Spain? In Portugal? In Germany? In Austria? Is it too much to be served? No, not here next time. Thank you.

Absolutely superb coffee shop with direct access and views to the beach. Always met with a friendly smile, prompt and efficient service, very clean tidy and welcoming. Excellent value. When ever I am in Portsmouth this is my “go to” coffee shop. Indoor and outdoor seating makes it a venue for all weathers.

The guy bringing out prepared sandwiches to the service area wearing a beard that was incredibly long without hair net and completely put me off the food. Goes for front of house staff serving food, long hair no hair net or caps. £4 a flat white expected better standards.

Nice views and the food and drinks were great. Service wasn't as good as I was given the wrong drink and was ignored by staff when I went to the counter to complain.

Went to get a takeaway hot chocolate, was waiting over 40 mins went back to question why it was taking so long and was greeted with a rude manner by the staff asking had my buzzer gone off which it hadn’t and I saw 2 hot chocolates waiting on the counter I asked are these mine she said has your buzzer gone off I said no she said well it isn’t yours then, I said I have been waiting 40 mins she said can I see your receipt so I showed her she said oh these are yours I put the wrong numbers, no apology nothing. Absolutely ridiculous. And I wasn’t the only person whom was annoyed there was also someone else complaining about how long they had been waiting. I Won’t be returning.

Really lovely location and good service. They have a buzzer thing that makes thing very easy. The hot chocolate was very mid. Tasted like powder but priced like a proper hot chocolate. Would not recommend.

Super venue. Clean and tidy, food decor. Staff were friendly. Chai latte was ok, but certainly I have had better. I was disappointed to be honest.

Nice venue for a Coffee by the seaside.

The atmosphere is truly amazing. The coffee is okay the milk is always burnt for some reason. If that would be fixed then it would be 5 stars from me!

We visit coffee cup eastney weekly, came today to find rather large price increase. Then realised why we were given crisps with our panini. Nice touch but very sad to say will be going else where. Have watched the coffee cup grow over the years. But can get a panini for less than £7.19 elsewhere, maybe no sea view but hey ho.

We have always enjoyed your cafe, one of the best spots along the seafront to get a drink. Especially in the summer. However, its now not possible to get a gluten free lunch. When I questioned this, I was told there was too much waste involved, and as a small business this could not be sustained. Please try and find a local business that can help you out with this problem . Look forward to your response.

I used the takeaway side because inside was full. Good service. Pleasant and welcoming barrister. Food I ordered was hot and very nice. Couldn't ask for more.

Great place for coffee whilst walking the dog. Dogs not allowed inside but plenty of outdoor seating available. Recommended

Service was very slow, took over 15 minutes to get to the front of the queue and when I placed my order I was given a pager and had a further 10 minute wait. When I collected my drinks they were cool not hot. Would I recommend them, NO! I would recommend you keep on walking, this was a Sunday afternoon in February, what would they be like on a warm sunny day in May.

Regularly visit here for a coffee or two. Location is lovely and the staff are all super friendly! Prices are about what you'd expect, but the coffee is good.

Amazing place by the sea to have a little break after a walk , service was amazing and the staff will serve you with a smile.

I found this cafe to be overpriced and the food to be sparse. I had a pulled pork and cheese pannini which was filled as sparingly as possible. It cost over £5! My piece of cake, bakewell slice, was stale and dry. It's a shame because it's a cosy building and the staff seem friendly enough, shame about the food. I did notice that a lot of customers just had a drink, maybe that tells me something!

Lovely and friendly staff. Great ambience and perfect for a nice study cafe. Lovely views. Spacious. Clean toilets. Road side paid parking. Children play area. Only issue is not so good for vegans. No desserts or sweets for vegans mainly. Could improve food options. The coffee is really good though.

I love this place, everything is perfect in there.

Visited takeaway counter on Boxing Day. Disorganised beyond belief resulting in overly long queue - we waited 20 minutes but would have been longer if two groups ahead of us hadn't given up hope of being served. To make matters worse the Americano and Flat Whites we ordered tasted awful - coffee used tasted completely stale. Will know in future not to waste valuable doggy swimming time!

It's OK but the person at the window couldn't have closed it any quicker, once after taking the order and then again after handing us our expensive coffee...I had to knock it to ask for my piece of expensive cake I had already paid for. It's just not like it used to be. It used to have a more friendly atmosphere, now it just feels 'commercial' like every other coffee place.

I quote “ you couldn’t write it “ well I’m going too. !!! This place is a complete disaster. We went in to get 4 hot drinks while enjoying a Boxing Day walk along the sea front and were alone as there was no queue and was soon told there would be at least a half hour wait as they were extremely busy yet there were loads of seats available and 3 staff doing absolutely nothing- disgraceful customer service and if I owned this business I would be fuming. I will never use this place again and discourage anyone else going there.

I was treated what I feel was disgustingly just cause I brought my dog in to the cafe, I didnt see the sign that said no dogs and the man came up to me and said, We don’t allow dogs into the restaurant if you pay for your order and wait outside I will bring it to the window … I explained I’m not waiting in the cold for long so I hope he would be quick So I picked up my little Dachsund and held her and waited inside the door,He then came over and again told me to go outside and he will bring the drinks … It was extremely windy and raining and He made me feel like a peice of dirt …so we stood outside for a few mins and waited … Honestly he needs some training in how to treat woman, I am old enough to be his grandmother.

Probably the best mocha, with extra shot, I have ever had. Sustained me halfway to Winchester.

Great place to stop off before work for a hot drink and a croissant, warm and lovely views, some other tempting baked options available including lunch options if you get there later.

The food and drink here has become extortionately priced and the coffees are not even good anymore (weak watered down to save / make more money?). Why can’t this place build some more toilets (they have one and it’s usually out of order). And why not install a live web cam of the sea state and do the local swimming community a favour? Unfortunately they have the monopoly and a captive audience here as the only place on the front and they are ripping people off with sub standard drinks (food not bad but all unhealthy sugary stuff). The staff - who are always nice - are even embarrassed to be charging so much!

Shambolic service, slow not enough room behind the servery as the staff were clearly getting in each others way. Great setting though and nice to sit outside on a sunny day.

Why are people being charged 45p for oat milk. If three people pay for oat milk, they have the cost back. This is just scamming customers as people are trying to be healthy they are made to pay more. I am a veteran, and I will let my friends take their own milk if its Soya, Oat, or Almond. I, for one, will never use Coffee Cup again. It's a milk ripe off.

Great location but don't go for the coffee. We tried twice, only for coffee, but we really didn't like and couldn't drink more than half our cups. The cake was just ok.

I was a regular customer, but the quality of the coffee was not very good for the price. ADDITIONAL fee for plant milk. After 6 months, I say to myself, I will check the quality of coffee and service to see if it has changed. Unfortunately: The staff probably didn't use the head to think, when ordering coffee with plant milk (vegan) they added and always do so normal whipped cream, without telling me anything, without asking if it was a preference or an allergy and if I hadn't asked, I would have drank it and maybe she died because who would I didn't care that I couldn't eat dairy products. Costa and Starbucks really care about quality and customers, even small family cafes are better. I do not recommend Coffee cup in Portsmouth.

Always excellent coffee & staff. One thing, sometimes it takes a while to be served, however, their coffee is worth the wait. Food also good. Highly recommend.

Applied for a job , got a text about an interview (already a very unprofessional to arrange an interview) , they said only Interview at 9:30 Wednesday. I work full time so I offered an alternative date, to which I was basically told no. Totally unprofessional and stupid way of hiring. I wish you guys luck hiring a supervisor as anyone available for a 9:30 interview with 1 days notice probably isn’t currently employed. Rude and blunt and didn’t even sign off with their actual name.

Honestly feel that the only thing that keeps this particular branch of coffee cup going is the prime position. If you had these staff in a location with other coffee shops nearby it would fail. Let me stress I am not talking about any other branch apart from Eastney. Staff have zero customer service skills. A lady asked whether dogs were allowed inside (patio doors wide open) and was greeted very abrupt ‘NO’. My husband had a hot chocolate and wasn’t asked if he’d like chocolate on top. Honestly politeness costs nothing.

Lovely atmosphere and location, staff unfortunately rude and un-attentive. (+) Average coffee, average food. (-) Some of the staff could work on smiling more, being more polite, and not purposely ignoring you. Don’t normally write reviews but it really got to me.

Lovely spot for a light lunch, good choice of sandwiches and cakes to die for. Great views whether inside or out. Staff were very welcoming, all told it was a good choice for a spot of lunch

A wonderful location to sit and contemplate life, the universe and everything while sipping delicious coffee and nibbling on a lovely cake. With comfortable indoor seating and picnic benches outside it is ideal for almost any weather. The staff are friendly & welcoming, the service is swift & professional and the menu delightful & tempting. A fantastic little spot a bit away from the general hustle & bustle and ideal for children & dogs after a fair stroll along the promenade.

1x cheese and ham and 1xCheese and tomato toastie were awful- soggy bread, weird tomato mix and cheese unmelted for £4.95 each. Iced latte had ice, americano was hot. That’s all I can say really. Usually the cafe is a godsend on the beach front for a hot cuppa and fortifying snack. Not sure what happened today. Maybe seasonal staff and poor prepackaged toasties were just off the mark today. Will try again soon.

Cold, wet day so not being allowed inside with our dog a disappointment. They can set the rules. If I had know of this approach I would gone somewhere else.

Our first visit, really nice cafe with views over the Solent from Eastney over to the Isle of Wight, lovely cake, enjoyed the visit in spite of slightly imperfect weather... Good service as well!

Lame coffee! Watery..also watch your self from burning your tongue..it's way too hot!not right coffee temperature. Was sited outside waiting for the coffee at table, been served in takeaway cups..! Told the guy..it's not right..he said ..ok oh sorry..thats it..yep..what a coffee shop..

Great Venue right on the beach, really good millionaires shortbread - very poor coffee though. This was 10am Sunday before it got busy

Fantastic coffee, great toasties and superb cakes. Service is a little slow, but you can see they are doing their best. Besides, you're at the beach, what's the rush? I never tried their ice creams, but they looked as good as the rest of the food. I always go there when I'm in Eastney. Well worth a visit.

Great views across Spithead. Great selection of hot drinks and snacks. Additional outdoor seating is good when it's a bright sunny day.

Used the outdoor service hatch as a lovely day to sit out. Well situated along the Eastney seafront. Found it as part of the parkrun route. Great choice of savouries and cakes. So good to have HOT coffee served, didn't (and couldn't) rush it. Very friendly New Zealand server/barista.

Food was a bit disappointing. The hot dog bread roll fell apart and the sausage was not a proper hot dog.

Love this place. Location , staff, sea view and atmosphere.

Bought 2 Paninis, 1 Cappuccino and 1 Iced Latte. Paninis weren't worth £1.95 each let alone £5.95 each. Iced Latte was just a cold cup of watered down coffee. Tables and floor were filthy and customers were having to clear the dirty crockery themselves. Staff were too busy messing around and on their phones to provide any sort of decent service.

It's a lovely little cafe in a fabulous location with a great view. However, everything on the menu (apart from crisps and one type of cake) appears to be animal based. Not only are your vegan customers left hungry, you also fail to cater to anyone with a dairy intolerance (everything has either meat or cheese, or both, in it). Something simple like a mushroom and pesto toasty or a hummous and flatbread snack is surely not too much to ask? Your staff were also not willing to improvise on the spot which is disappointing, especially since there seem to be quite a few of them behind the bar all doing very little.

Self service for milk. The shelf for the milk and sugars, etc is miniscule. There is no where to balance a tray or put a cup down. Poor thinking for helping customer self service.

Only toastie and sandwiches on offer . Few cake and hot/drinks Used to do hot meals like pasta and bakes but these seem to have been removed

I was at the cafe on a Saturday afternoon, I was served quickly, the only problem was that the inside space was small and crowded, there were no tables inside, and it was very windy outside.

Lovely coffee shop with gorgeous views and outside seating (although it was raining when we were there so we sat under the shelter!!) lovely little play area if you have kids and the staff were so lovely. Can highly recommend the salted caramel millionaire slice!!!! Thank you!!
