Excellent. Great attention. Very close to important monuments and it is worth going away just a little bit to discover places like this... One to repeat!

Lovely pub. So glad to see a toilet with a twin but WARNING: don’t leave ur scrabble unattended while you go for a ciggie THEY will clear ur intense competition away even if you leave ur bags and coats :(

Little gem of a pub hidden away in Vauxhall. Sunday roast is absolutely delicious, the pub has a great atmosphere and staff are very friendly. My new favourite pub, will definitely be returning!

Despite being less than half-full it is too loud inside to comfortably hold a conversation. Service is slow and indifferent. Food is adequate but boring and served lukewarm. The Jolly Gardeners might be a good place to come for a drink if you live close by, but I would not walk more than a block for the food. Toping it off is the "optional" 12.5% service change automatically added to the bill.

This pub had fantastic live music and a great atmosphere. The service was good, just a little bit slow since it was a busy Sunday. We waited a long time after booking to order and longer to receive our food. The lamb Sunday roast was okay, just had a little bit too much fat. They served us lovely Yorkshire puds and gravy. The vegetarian roast was very small and disappointing, but the butternut squash mash was very nice. They also had no coffee. I did enjoy my old fashioned!

Such a lovely pub!!! Food was flawless and genuinely the best I've had in a pub for as long as I can remember. Staff were wonderfully attentive. Will look for reasons to come back.

Had a delicious vegetarian burger and pork medallions with pak choi. But giving it a three rating cos the portion for the pork medallion is too small. The service by this african (british?) server was really good (I forgot her/ their name😩). Very friendly to us and ushered us to some nicer seats than we sat in one that was smaller and more cramped. But the older guy was a little too eager to clear our plates even when we hadn't finished.

Went recently and had the veggie burger, was quite disappointed. Some mushrooms in a bun with about a tablespoon of slaw, small cup of fries, for £17 (+12.5% service, so near enough 20 quid). I was still very hungry afterwards, so felt as if I'd been shortchanged. Beer selection is okay, but steep prices (£6.70 - 6.90 for many pale ales, Guinness etc - unfortunately not that uncommon in London these days) Staff were nice, ambiance was okay but the divide between the (busy) drinks /pub section and the (quiet) restaurant section felt like the space wasn't being used very effectively

London has an overwhelming amount of pub Sunday roasts on offer BUT LOOK NO FURTHER, on Sunday I visited the jolly gardener with my friends for a roast and it was the most enjoyable and delicious one I’ve had. The atmosphere and interior are the perfect combination of modern and rustic so it’s cozy while also maintaining a cool and calming vibe and the food was so scrummy! The sides come in sharing form which makes you feel right at home having spoonfuls of your maws cauliflower cheese straight from the dish with a serving spoon. Love! Great deserts too and a lovely house red which our wonderful server Umberto convinced us we needed to indulge in both, even after I accidentally walked into the men’s room after the second bottle it was still a 5 star experience that nothing could knock, not even the sight of a urinal xx

We were only here for a short while, but we picked up on the friendly vibe of the staff. A fantastic mixture of clientele with an emphasis on families. The soft jazz of the two lads was very enjoyable. We did not eat, so I can't comment on the food. Spotlessly cleaned pub.

We hired out the Secret Garden at the Jolly Gardeners for a Friends Christmas Dinner and it was the most perfect evening we could have asked for. The service from the team was superb, I didn't have to do anything/chase anything hosting my friends as everything was so under control. The food was absolutely delicious- big shout out from us all for the Cauliflower Wings and the Peanut Butter/Banana pudding! The enclosed/heated garden was so cute and felt like we had escaped London to some idyllic mountain restaurant in the Alps. 10/10 for everything we will be back!

We had a lovely family roast at this pub at the weekend. Caught up with my daughter who is currently studying in the area. The food was great but the service from Umberto was second to none. Thank you for making our visit so friendly and accommodating. We will be back!

It's our fourth time in London. We were in the Vauhxall area and wanted to have a beer in a nice pub. Well, we were over overwhelmed by our experience in the Jolly Gardeners. It's spacious, it has the pub and the restaurant. The team was polite and friendly. We felt very welcome. The beer menu is great and the food delicious. Nevertheless the pub itself has an interesting history and we were amazed tha it survived the secando world war bombing and that Chaplin's father was a regular. We had a great time and strongly recomend it. We are specially grateful to Umberto and Neil.

Friendly and not too hipster. I'm a local that works local so for me I don't want too much gentrification that interia psychological look and feel of a public house alienate people who are on the doorstep. After we are all Joe public. I loved the atmosphere went for a drink after work. Will do so again

We came for a nice, sunny Saturday light lunch. Amazing service the minute you walked in. Sara was one step ahead of our thoughts and knew exactly what we wanted. The cauliflower wings and sweet potato plates coupled with a bubbly prosecco were just on point. 🤌🥂 We'll be back.

Friendly staff who served an excellent range of food and drinks. Would recommend coming here if you're in the local area. It's very close to some of the other areas such as art gallery nearby.

Cool, spacious pub with a good selection of drinks and lots of outdoor seating. Never been too busy when I’ve been. Marked down as the small plates have been poor when I’ve been, very salty and not much flavour.

Led by the movie Snatch, my whole idea was just to visit of the locations, being this pub one of them, then I realized it was now also a restaurant, so I came in and ordered a burger and definitely didn't disappoint. Lucky me it was off-peak hours so it was ready very fast. Although it has no memorabilia from the movie, it certainly keeps most of what's featured in it. Recommended.

We were told that the food would be 30 minutes and arrived after an hour. The burger was awful for £17.50. The chips were undercooked, and everything else was well done. My friends ordered starters which also came after an hour, some had to cancel their order as it was getting so late. The starters had the same issue, undercooked fries and overcooked (teetering on the edge of burnt) cauliflower wings. A shame for the money.

Im Zeitgeist gibt es deutsche Küche (Schnitzel, Käsespätzle etc.) zu fairen Preisen. Dazu eine große Auswahl an deutschen Bieren. Das wichtigste in diesem Laden ist aber, dass man dort Bundesligaspiele schauen kann. Wer in London ist und seine Mannschaft verfolgen möchte, ist hier genau richtig.Die Lokalität liegt übrigens eher in einem Wohnviertel und ist sowohl von den Metrostationen Lambeth Nord als auch von Kennington innerhalb von 10 Minuten fußläufig zu erreichen.

Met up with an old friend, who I hadn't seen for several years and was staying in a hotel nearby. Great choice of German beer and while we didn't eat on this occasion, the Friday lunchtime buffet is fantastic.

Have been frequenting Zeitgeist on and of for about 4 years. On the plus side, food and beer are of good quality. On the downside, staff and decor let the place down. 18 months ago it was a vibrant and entertaining place, now surly and rude staff just make me want to go elsewhere. Bar manager seems to take pleasure in irritating his customers which isn't a good look if you're trying to retain your custom. 2 years ago the place was heaving after 10pm, now its half empty by 9pm.

Being an avid connoisseur of German beer, I was keen to give Zeitgeist a try after getting to know the other London beer halls intimately. A pleasant walk through a quiet stretch of Lambeth brought me to Zeitgeist, and a great time was had. The selection of beers on tap and in the bottle fridges was outstanding, and the service from behind the bar was very cheerful. I was able to watch Premier League football and Six Nations rugby, all while the main screens were occupied with Bundesliga football for the German patrons. The food was nice and reasonably priced, and it came pretty quickly. The decor and furnishings aren't much to write home about, but if you're after a place to while away a weekend afternoon and enjoy some quality drinks, this place is worth the trek.

We stopped here for a drink before the fireworks and we returned after too. The Spanish waiter was very polite and helpful. We had some lagers, whiskey and Rum as it was the New Year Eve. Cheers guys and thanks

As a German in London this is the place to go if you miss a good beer. The German beer selection is the best in London. The food however is very average, tasteless and over priced. Not sure if the chef ever been to Germany.

Nice place serving lovely German beer and food. Our last visit was a bit spoilt though when the barman threw a tantrum after I asked him if he’d added the food I’d ordered. Maybe he’d had a bad day - fair enough - and I did ask him twice, but his reaction to what was a polite enquiry was a bit over the top. One of the good things about Zeitgeist is the wide range of Bundesliga and UK footie games they show, but that said, it can be quite difficult to hear what the bar staff are saying over the commentary, hence me asking him twice. Anyway...I still like Zeitgeist, have been before and it’s always been very nice. If you like German ale and meat, get yourself down there. Just don’t ask the barman anything twice under any circumstances; you could find yourself wearing that Bratwurst, or worse.

Visited twice in a week, on a Monday night during happy hour (very quiet) and Thursday night during an England friendly (good noisy fun) I enjoyed the food- German of course- some of the sausages were lovely! Great selection of beers too.

Restaurant de quartier avec des plats allemands, copieux et bons, par contre l'ambiance n'est pas cosy, et très bruyante.

Sabemos que la cerveza es buena, ya que tienen una gran selección de cervezas alemanas. Decidimos tener algo de comida demasiado y probamos el haxn, que es de un valor increíble dado que mucha carne que te dan! Sin duda regresaría nuevamente para este plato.

Good verity on beers but the food was far to cold on the first attempt. After reheating it was still partly cold. Seems more like a hallway than a convenient place to be. Just overrated

I went here with my wife for a few beers and food. It is basically an old school boozer that has grasped at a theme and added a German menu and beers.

We attended as a group to watch the DFB Pokal final and were given reservations in writing for 8 tables for 80 people, we also prepaid meals and drinks and had received vouchers for our group.

Lo pasamos genial última noche en el pub zeitgeist en alemán! Yo soy alemán, así que sé buena cerveza. Mi marido y yo estábamos curioso si este lugar alemán puede seguir con un buen Kneipe (Alemán para pub). El camarero, Nick, era Alemán y supo sacar una pinta, algo de espuma en la parte superior propiamente dicho, a diferencia de lo que obtienes en pubs ingleses. Él estaba sonriente, muy atento. Terminamos en una conversación sobre la comida alemana. Ah, y las galletas saladas también eran geniales.

A este bar se caían durante su estancia en un hotel cercano. Hay una enorme selección de cervezas alemanas, que es genial. Siempre es bueno encontrar Bitburger en proyecto, así que ya estaba vendido. Decidimos cenar aquí. Sé que parece caro, pero la comida es muy sabrosa. Comimos el plato de salchichas y había mucho para hacerme feliz.

He vivido en Inglaterra durante 25 años y sí, soy alemán, pero la selección de cervezas de barril y de botella son increíblemente fantástico, podía hacer con algunos alemanes propiamente, pero no Granizado no tienen todo. Zeitgeist, donde ha sido durante los últimos 25 años.

Vinimos aquí para ver un partido de fútbol y realmente disfrutamos de la selección de cervezas. Las diversas cervezas de trigo eran lo mejor para nosotros.

Pensavamo di aver trovato un pub familiare ma ci siamo sbagliati...Il cibo non è un gran che piatti abbondanti ma di scarsa qualità ..in compenso hanno una buona selezione di birre ma dopo aver visto il manager come tratta le ragazze e anche quello che ha fatto dopo che ho consegnato un curriculum ad uno dei suoi lavoratori ..mi è sembrato poco cortese stava ridendo lo scemo non sapendo che io ero ancora seduto al tavolo forse si aspettava il cv di qualche bella ragazza per continuare a metterci le mani sotto come ho visto con le altre come ho detto nel pub lo ripeto qua sopra un pub buono per vedere lo sport ma poco cortesi e soprattutto il manager credo dovrebbe darsi una regolata e imparare a rispettare di più le persone dopo questa mancanza di rispetto difficilmente torneremo a mangiare buon proseguimento attento che potresti trovare qualcuno che ti faccia passare la voglia di essere malato con le ragazze e maleducato con le persone che ti portano i curriculum e migliora la cucina che fa schifo.

As a German living in the UK I decided to visit this place for some german food and beer. A great selection and the food reminded me of Home. Well worth a visit when in London. I recommend the Leberkase to try.

Wir waren ein Wochenende in London und wollte trotzdem nicht das Topspiel Bayern- Dortmund verpassen. Also haben wir im Internet geschaut und schnell das Zeitgeist gefunden. Wir haben gutes deutsches Weizen getrunken und Burger gegessen. Das Essen war gut, leider hat die Zubereitung jedoch etwas länger gedauert.Preise sind gerade noch okey, aber in London muss man eh mit etwas mehr Ausgaben für Essen und trinken rechnen.Die Stimmung beim Fußball war großartig und dank zahlreicher Fernseher konnte man das Spiel super überall verfolgen.

My partner and I visited Zeitgeist after moving in just around the corner. We were so pleased to find a German restaurant in such close proximity, as I used to live there and we holiday in Germany every year. The food was great. Authentic and reasonably priced with really good portion sizes. They had a great selection of beers as well as wines and spirits. The football was being shown live and the atmosphere was really good.I'd love to see more German wine on offer and some German desserts e.g. kasekuchen, torte.

Nach längerer Zeit war ich mal wieder im Zeitgeit. Auf einen Sonntag Nachmittag wollten wir uns mit mehreren Leuten die Spiele der Bundesliga anschauen. Der Pub war leerer als gedacht und so bekamen wir noch gute Plätze vor der Leinwand. Was mich irritierte war, das sowohl das Krombacher als auch das Köstritzer Bier alle war. Da es aber genügend Sorten an Bier gibt, bekamen wir noch frisch gezapftes Bier. Die Preise sind mit 5 Pfund schon eher teuer. Auch das Essen ist nicht das günstigste. Fazit für Bundesliga immer gerne wieder, als Tourist gehe ich aber lieber in britsiche Pubs.

Possibly the worst service I've ever had. Walked into the pub and waited at the bar 15 minutes before being served. Just completely unacceptable. Wouldn't be so bad if the staff even tried to look like they were at all concerned. Quite the opposite. Not a single apology or any urgency in their work. Avoid unless you are only coming for the decor and not to have a beer.

Fantastic little beer house that is tucked away in Vauxhall. The beer selection is really good and has a great Bavarian themed menu. Plenty of large screens to show the sport too!

The German pub is located a bit remote. Inside nice, traditional the furniture a bit simple. Excellent choice of German beer also from the tab. 5£ per pint is not cheap for this area. At least five screens for football including Bundesliga. The service is doing the job but not friendly. I ordered a veg Burger with fries and salad. Fries were soft and tasteless, salad was a handful precut simple leaves, a cucumber and tomato with convenient-dressing, the burger, small piece of halloumi, iceberg leave and industrial roast onions. The plate was left 30min on the table, before cleaning, no questions why it was untouched. This kind of Food was served in the eighties on German Autobahn Raststätten better. In short good for Bundesliga and Beer if you can not find other place around your corner.

We come to watch St Pauli here. It's the only reason. Ordered a glass of prosecco which was served in a wine glass instead of a flute. Had to have it changed. Ordered 3 portions of chips (as the currywurst is a rip off) and had to send them back as they weren't cooked! Who can't cook chips?? They came back still undercooked but by then we had given up the will to complain anymore...a pint, a prosecco a (pint!) of lemonade and 3 portion of chips cost £23. Not great value for money. Please train your bar staff and chef, chips ain't rocket science!

Superb German beers (brewed in that country which makes a huge difference) served in a place full of character (although a bit aged and perhaps in need of a full refurbishment tbh). To match those lovely and fresh Pilsner and Weiss pints that can go down very quickly, nothing better than to choose from the wide selection of delicious (and allegedly harmful) nitrates this side of Frankfurter.The place gets very packed so don’t expect tip-top service.

Pretzels were small and delicious but also a bit expensive.Beers were big and beautiful, and served by a lovely German man who mistook us grizzly, bearded travellers for German.It was a great experience seeing a Bundesliga game in this atmosphere after dinner too! It was packed and loud, couldn't have asked for a more exciting start to our trip.

Großes, zweckmäßig, aber dennoch stilvoll eingerichtetes Pub, das fest in deutscher Hand ist. Gezeigt werden alle Bundesligaspiel, somit wird der von außen unscheinbare Pub zu einer deutschen Enklave in London. Viele deutsche Biersorten, gutes Gastro Food. Tolle Stimmung beim Fußball.

What a disappointment.The staff clearly wanted to be elsewhere. They all seemed very disinterested and any request we made to be served seemed to be met with indignation. We asked for the football to be put on and after 15mins they had done nothing. When we ordered food, one of the staff admitted to knowing nothing about certain dishes, so rather than find out herself, told one of our party to go and ask her colleague sitting on the otherside of the bar. It was embarrassing.The food is ok. Nothing special, but way overpriced. It is around £10 for a bratwurst sausage and some bog-standard chips and salad. I had the 'veggie burger', probably a poor choice in any German bar, but you'd expect more than some tasteless halloumi in a bun. Hardly worth the money or the extremely long wait. Also, the 20p surcharge on all card payments is totally baffling!?It is a large vacuous pub with little atmosphere. It is very dark and pretty shabby. Perhaps when they make the most of the huge sports screen and it gets busy there would be a good vibe, but not on this occasion. The only real positive is the very good selection of beers on draught.
