I recently visited The Earl Ferrers and was completely taken by the charm and warmth of this delightful pub. What sets this place apart is not just the cozy atmosphere or the excellent selection of drinks, but the heart and soul poured into it by Duncan, the friendly landlord. From the moment you walk in, Duncan makes you feel like you're part of the family, greeting guests with a smile that's as genuine as it is welcoming. The pub itself exudes a traditional vibe, with a comfortable and inviting interior that makes you want to settle in for the evening. Whether you're there for a quiet pint or to enjoy the lively atmosphere on a busy night, The Earl Ferrers caters to all. The selection of beers, ales, and spirits is thoughtfully curated, ensuring there's something for everyone's taste. Moreover, the food is a delightful surprise, far surpassing your typical pub fare, with each dish prepared to perfection and presented with care. But, it's the personal touch from Duncan that truly makes every visit memorable. His knack for remembering names and faces, along with his willingness to go the extra mile to ensure his guests have a great time, is commendable. Whether offering recommendations from the bar or sharing a story, Duncan's hospitality is unmatched. The Earl Ferrers is more than just a pub; it's a community hub where friends meet, families gather, and newcomers are welcomed with open arms. Thanks to Duncan and his team, this pub stands out as a beacon of friendliness and quality in Streatham. I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for a genuine pub experience where they're treated not just as customers, but as friends.

Popped in one Sunday whilst passing through and we were so happy we did! Amazing roasts including the holy grail that is the veggie roast WITH veggie gravy. Yum. Meat eating other half said his pork roast had the best crackling he has ever tasted. Great selection of beers and ciders and don't even get me started on the cheeseboard! Oooooo and the music! Great tunes by Donny Hathaway, James Brown, Shugie Otis and Doctor John to name but a few. Add to all of this the most amazing hospitality, a real fire, board games and basically you will never want to leave. Unpretentious and completely heartwarming. Thank you.

I had a fantastic evening meal on a Thursday night at this pub with my wife and son. I loved the fact that it was away from the high street in a quite residential area. The food was really nice and made freshly. The fish and chips dish had a lovely piece of cod in a crispy batter served with fresh home made fries. Fantastic. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were most welcoming. The barman allowed me to taste the foreign beer that I was not familiar with and I was impressed so I ended up ordering it. The prices were very reasonable and we will definitely dine in here again.

A. whole leg of chicken with herb, roast carrots, parsnips and plenty of roast potatoes finished off with fresh French beans - lovely. Small Yorkshire pud and some dinners got an artistic lavender flower through it. Do not miss out on the Bloody Mary too. Finally, the friendly local pub atmosphere is rounded off by chilled tunes that brings back 90's Ibiza memories. Very dog friendly too.

This is a community pub in the true sense. Away from the main road and with traditional decor and a good drinks selection, it's ostensibly for locals but visitors are made welcome too. You could say i’m biased as it’s my local. But it’s my local because I deliberately moved here and the pub was a big part of the reason, seriously! As a pub to go for drinks it’s great. However this is a food review so i’ll focus on that. We tend to have burgers, fish and chips, jerk chicken or whatever sounds good. All are really tasty. Fish and chips this week had good home made crushed (not quite mushy) peas with a hint of garlic. Fish was well cooked and tasty. My wife had a chicken dish that was really good. Wines tend to be £25ish for a good bottle but they also do several by the glass. They’ve always got guest ales on and typically 3 draft lagers. It’s a really relaxed place with loads of locals and plenty of people who travel to get there, like I used to! They sometimes have music on but not often so do check if that’s not your thing. Enjoy!

I have been meaning to visit this pub for a while as everyone I know who has been rates it highly and I now know why. Took my sons on spec as we wanted a relaxed lunch and somewhere to enjoy the sunshine. Luckily we were early and able to get a table. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff from the start and the pub itself has a warm, inviting atmosphere for not only the locals who were in but also the firstimers like us. The Sunday menu had 3 roast choices all of which were ordered by those sitting close by - looked and smelled delicious. It was a difficult decision but we chose from the other options - jerk chicken, beef brisket and sausages. The beef served on the bone was the star of the show. Amazing, melt in the mouth. Home made chips too good to leave even though we were all so full. The portion sizes are extremely generously priced for such tasty, fresh, quality produce. All food requests (quirks!) were accommodated without question and the staff were friendly, happy to see us and we will certainly be back for more of everything the Earl Ferrers has to offer.

Decided not to send it back as didn't want it microwaving and drying out. We called before going to check if the vegetarian option had dairy in and were told no, when we got there we found it had cheese in and there was no real alternative and the menu was much smaller than the sample one on the website. It would also help if they put some prices on the website. The food was overpriced for what it was. I guess it would be OK for just a drink but won't be bothering to go back there.

Based on a recommendation we were looking forward to a really great family meal. The ales were well kept so a good start and the menu looked OK for a pub, so we chose two beef and ale pies with mash, peas and gravy, plus two cod, chips and peas with tartare sauce. The fish and chips arrived first, and the person who recommended this was obviously embarrassed. The portions were mean to say the least, a very tiny piece of fish, very few chips and a little pot of mushy peas with the tartare sauce in an even smaller pot. The pie and mash arrived a few minutes later and even further embarrassment. The cod tasted fine but gone in three forkfuls, one third of a normal portion, the chips were typical oven chips, and just seven, the peas were cold and the tartare sauce tasted watered down, like a poor salad cream. The pies appeared to have been cooked in individual dishes and tasted great, but the mash would have fitted in an egg cup, the little pot of peas were the usual frozen ones. Another real failure. An attempt at a desert was a waste of time, three Sticky date puddings with ice cream. Three spoons arrived, one soup spoon, one desert spoon and one serving spoon. Appalling service. As another person mentioned, the heating seemed to be broken and staff couldn't sort the open fire.Overall - Do not eat there - Wear extra clothes - Just have a drink and eat somewhere else.

We moved to the area a year ago and this pub has been a regular choice since. The menu is quite limited and generally excellent, whether it's for a post-golf snack (pint of sausage rolls) or a meal - and the selection of drinks is varied (real ales, decent lager, good wines). The menu was refreshed a couple of months ago and the new burger is outstanding. I've sampled that, the veggie burger, the fish and chips and most of the starters - and I rate them all highly. It's generally busy, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Sometimes there are some kids and dogs running about, but they're generally under control. In all, I really like this place...

We went here for dinner with some friends last night. Menu was fine - a bit of variety which was good. In the end we all went for something different - burger, fish and chips, hot dog and pie of the day. I had the fish - the fish was absolutely tiny however it did taste good. The peas were fine. The chips were like eating a packet of ready salted crisps they were so overdone!! Awful. Service was so rushed had to wait 15 minutes at the bar to place and order. I felt so sorry for the American girl behind the bar she was trying to tend the bar aswell and waitress. No one ever asked us if the food was good just swiped the plates which were pretty much all half full. Such a disappointment as we moved to the area six months ago and everyone was telling us how great it was. Perhaps it was just an off night and they had a poor chef in the kitchen but I honestly won't be going back again. Cute place for a few drinks though so maybe thats the saving grace.

It was really refreshing walking into a relaxed and quite quiet pub in the backroads of Streatham rather than the usual busy places on the High Road. The service was excellent - really friendly and helpful when we had some questions about the menu etc. The pub itself is decorated thoughtfully with atmospheric lighting, board games around the place, an upright piano and a bookcase! The food was delicious on a fairly small menu (but I always like that). Two of us had the burger which was very good, one had the fish and chips - also delicious and the other had the pulled pork which was gone before I could even have a taste it was that good. We also started with a camembert and whitebait to share which was more than enough. No room for pudding! Will definitely be coming back again!

I usually go to the railway, but thought we'd try something new. the food was disgusting, (half the menu was off), and there were children running around the pub at 10pm screeching their heads off using it as a playpen. Bad all round. Will not touch this place with a barge pole, disgusting and rude staff!!! As we were the only people in here on a saturday night, that prtty much speaks for itself--- blahhhh. And £11.50 for a fish burger (they'd run out of tartar sauce),that was wet and undercooked, with a mouldy bun.

How could I never have been to this fantastic , friendly pub in Streatham before. 9.30pm on a Saturday night wanted to while the evening away at a cafe/bar on the High Road but as they were quiet they were closing at 10pm, very disappointed, but decided on a whim to go to the Earl Ferrers just round the road and what a great decision as it is a gem of a pub. Have not eaten there yet but definately will go again for a meal .We really enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere created by all the people there and the friendly bar staff. By far the best pub I have been to in Streatham in all my many years of living there. Would definately recommend it to everyone. it was a very balmy evening and we were sitting outside which added to the great night.

Been an occasional visitor to Earl Ferrers and there is always a friendly welcome. It is really a hub of the local community and often puts on events to interest everyone. The ales are very well kept, lovely choice of wine - the rioja is especially good value. I have tried a few things on the menu and everything was well presented and very tasty. Overall I would heartily recommend it

Had been meaning to eat here for ages. finally did so this Bank holiday Sunday. The pub was busy but not unpleasantly so . Lots of young couples and young families. We had starters , me fried whitebait , she baked Camenbert and the Sunday roasts - me pork belly , she roast beef. All generously portioned , crackling on the pork to perfection , meat succulent, beef nicely rare. We didnt need the additional Cauliflower cheese and couldn't manage a pudding . We were able to eat outside on the street pavement due to the blessing of a sunny day , the first such bank holiday in living memory! A bottle of white Rioja and a glass each of chardonnay was drunk with the meal. The total for two was £72 . not cheap really but well presented a vey tasty. Glad we could eat outsie though as I found the resonance of the pub too loud for me - bare boards and loudih music. But thats me. would recommend . The pub has alot going on and going for it and makes a good addition to the eateries of the area. Glad I went.

The Ferrers is my local and is one of the reasons we decided to move to the area. It has lots of community stuff going on like book groups, Halloween parties for the kids and the highlight is the street party in September which is held on the street outside. They have a god choice of wine and they have beers from local breweries. Is definitely worth a wander off the main drag in Streatham to have a beverage or two.

A really splendid experience, start to finish. I genuinely think this is the first starred place I’d come back to; this, truly, is a neighbourhood restaurant that does exactly as it says it will. Se

Excellent. Great attention. Very close to important monuments and it is worth going away just a little bit to discover places like this... One to repeat!

I enjoyed some great fish and chips at The Windmill Pub, and the cosy atmosphere made for a perfect afternoon. I've added it to my barguide.london site too!
