Zara's in Doncaster

As a Asian customer, the food wasn't as it should be but can't complain to much there clientele are not Asian people

Well here we go again, I went to Zara’s last night with 6 friends & once again the food was awesome, the service was amazing as normal & the atmosphere & everything was fantastic from start to finish, Thanks again guys (Mark & Teresa)

I've been going to Zaras for many years. Never had a bad meal , food always excellent, staff very friendly and obliging. Every time we have recommended this restaurant to people, they always say food is so good . Keep up the good work .

Delicious curry and a service first rate!

I have not visited ZARA for a while I visited with some work colleagues the staff were friendly and the service was prompt. The food was to a high standard i will be visiting again soon

Exceptional food and choice, staff very friendly and helpful, full knowledge of dishes and happy to help with choices. Wonderful atmosphere, cosy and excellent location. Just be careful with the 'John's Special' !

Came a few weeks ago then about a week ago great service , amazing food… the people are really lovely. Will be back !!

Four of us participate in a monthly quiz night but decided to go for an impromptu curry for a change ! The restaurant was busy for a Thursday evening and we were fortunate to secure a table…the food was great…the atmosphere was great…the service was great ! The only downside was that the designated driver had to drink ‘coke’ because the were no alcohol free beers available but the overall enjoyment was unaffected…we’ll definitely add it to our schedule for the future !

I would normally eat Asian food once every couple of months, for me this is one of the best restaurants serving Asian food. The staff are friendly food is very good it’s a little quiet and reserved, the place is spotless. It would be my go to place for Indian/Asian food

Had a meal out last night, 6 of us with 2 young kids. Food was nice but staff just miserable and that ruins it for me. Won't be back.

We've had two recent visits to Zara's and we found hospitality, front of house and quality of food pretty consistent. It's all adequate for a fuss less meal. It's a tad expensive, but overall, we could not fault any of the food and service we receive there. It's just that it's nothing special, it doesn't stand out.

First time visiting Zara's. The food was lovely, and I had no issues with the presentation, etc. I went for the mixed starter, lamb korma, and keema rice for main.

I probably wouldn't come here for a special occasion, but if you fancy a casual night out then it does the job. Atmosphere wasn't good, but we were there for an early Thursday night sitting so was picking up by the time we left. Food was nice, again nothing special but always depends what you pick... the mango lassi is amazing. A take away quality curry.

Down visiting friends and they suggested Zara's. Food was perfect, lamb Rajistani was superb, everyone cleared their plates (including the kids) service was spot on and it was a cosy atmosphere 👌 thanks 😊

Food is below average and the price is well delay your mortgage. Watch your bill they will add random charges The staff will be rude so just be ready no it's not a Karen restaurant they're just rude

We’ve been visiting Zara’s for years - it’s always value for money, excellent food and incredible attentive service. This visit, our first for a while after moving away from the area, did not disappoint. The staff always friendly and welcoming - special thanks to Abdul - a real gent.

We dine at the restaurant regularly and the food has always been of good quality. However we had for the first time a takeaway. I f I could have rated no stars I would .We spent £35 and the food was dire .Ordered 2 onion bahjis to start which would have been lovely but stone cold .Now to the mains. My husband had Zaras special with chicken .Mushed up pieces of chicken in dry sauce .mine was worse .Chicken makhani cubes of processed chicken in a sickly sweet thick grainy yellow sauce .Egg pilau rice was green in colour peshawari bread raw in the middle. Absolutely disgraceful for a restaurant that are proud of their authentic dishes .I worked out to eat the same food in the restaurant would have been £6.00 if have lived in tickhill I.would have taken this £35 bag of rubbish back because it went straight in the bin

First time visit for a wedding anniversary. We have driven past on a number of occasions and always looked interestingly busy. The night we visited, the restaurant was quite full and we expected to have to wait for the food. Not only was the service prompt and efficient, the food was superb, from an extensive choice. We agreed that this was probably the best Indian experience we have had in Britain and we will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely night.

Very good service and excellent selection of Indian cuisine. Just be wary of the narrow entrance door.

Dined here often over the last six years. Always a pleasure with good food, service and value. Very clean and modern toilets upstairs. Would definitely recommend a visit at any time as they cope with a full house on a Saturday night with ease. The menu has a wide range of dishes from across the Sub Continent and all the usual starters, rice, breads, and sides. Good choice of real ales along with the wine and Cobra too. The real McCoy.

The food was sat in grease and the staff need a happy tablet ..we would never go back .. o and expensive for vile food and terrible service

Had a lovely meal at Zara with friends last night. Food was delicious and staff were attentive and friendly. Would love to go back again.

Called in at 9.50 expecting it to be open, especially with the website stating open till 11pm in midweek. Was told abruptly ‘we’re closing’ despite pointing out their opening hours. So the Taj Cottage it is from now onwards for me and the family. Much better anyway. Change your website guys, probably to ‘open while we can be bothered’. Very disappointing.

Most excellent service, food and atmosphere, Staff very friendly, understand all dishes and will happily describe them to help choose meals to taste. Very accommodating but very busy, though well worth any short wait. Usually very attentive service, very clean and pleasant.

Lovely curry & really nice restaurant.

Lovely food and nice restaurant. We were seated straight away and our starters came out almost immediately. We both enjoyed everything we ate. We were seated at 6pm and were the only table in at that time. This left the staff with nothing to do but stand at the front desk making the place look untidy. The older gentleman who served us was nice but a little difficult to understand and I had to keep repeating myself to him, he also hovered around to much and it was a bit uncomfortable to be honest.

Wife's birthday treat with friends. Lovely staff, friendly and accommodating. Food excellent and will always adjust taste to your liking. Thanks for a great evening all at Zaras. See you soon. Richard and Jane.

Just had a fabulous meal here again 😋 always good food & great staff

Ate here recently with friends. One of the best Indian meals of my life. Every dish was a joy, bursting with flavour and piping hot. The service is equally good and the staff are fantastic. And all at a reasonable cost. Treat yourself!

Food was good. For a restaurant that is so established the service is shambolic, waited an hour for the starters but once we had eaten them the mains arrived without us being asked if we wanted a break between courses.. The biggest let down of the night was that for the 2 drivers we asked for no alcohol larges which they said they had but at the end of the night we realised they had been giving the drivers 4.5 AVB Cobra, my wife would have been over the limit had she drove us home. They did get us home but it was 20 minute wait so we had a drink and they had the cheek to Charge us. Watch what you are getting & check your bill.

Not too impressed with the service. It was our first visit and will be the last It was overpriced but to be expected as given it was Tick Hill which would be ok if it was nothing less than ordinary wasn’t terrible but wasn’t special either but my main complaint was the waiters who made no conversation other that to take our order then rushed us through our starters by bringing the main course while still finishing last bit of our starters then hovered continuously for us to pay our bill whilst still finishing our gins in the end the waiter brought the card machine over ( we were paying in cash) so not impressed

Our monthly get together at a different curry restaurant took us to Tickhill and Zara's- walked- past many times during lockdown but didn't realise it was actually an Indian restaurant. Shown to our pre booked table quickly and almost immediately a drinks order taken and...

Ordered the usual takeaway, half the order missing. When we contacted them they were not bothered at all. Will not use again.

Local, staff friendly and helpful, I’m not the biggest Asian fan but been twice in less than a month, menu is very typical.

This review is based on 1 visit, however other family members have visited previously. First impressions were great. We booked in advance for 6pm on a Friday night for 6 adults, 1 child (4 years) and 1 baby (4 months). There is free onstreet parking and it wasn't busy to find a space. There is however no disabled access to the building. 2 steps to get in and then a further step once inside to get seated. There are tables up and downstairs, I've included a picture of the upstairs to give you an idea, I believe there are 12 steps so be warned if you struggles with them at the toilets are also upstairs. The toilets are fantastic. The are labeled by Gender however it isn't necessary as they are just lockable rooms with all facilities available inside with the exception of a baby change (slightly oversight on their part.) Food, so I'm a vegetarian but I got the opinions of my family too and they had meat options. We all agreed the food was 9.7+ out of 10. They had Okra in the Vegetarian Options - this was a big winner for me. But it was let down by the aubergine, it just doesn't need to be in a curry. The meat was plenty, in no way stingy. Portion sizes were adequate, can't complain at all. Rice is enough to share if you're having bread to share too. We also shared onion bhaji between two, which was plenty to start. Soft drinks were pretty expensive for being out of bottles but it is what it is. They had fresh juice for our 4 year old. Alcohol, they had Cobra was also available on draught along side wine and a good selection of spirits.

Been to zara.s for the 1st time tonight. I had the lamb tikka dish and my partner had the chicken madrasi. WOW what a meal. 12 out of 10 for you guys. Deffinetly reccomend this place. We were driving through on the way to London and stopped here for dinner, it was absolutely delicious and the owner and staff were incredibly kind and attentive.

Ordered the lamb balti to takeaway this evening. Tender lamb with an almost slow cooked texture in a rich interesting sauce. The best curry I've tasted in a long time, and I'm not easily pleased. Will be returning soon.

Food was excellent, if not a little pricey but I suppose you can get away with it in Tickhill. Did feel a little rushed, they had us in and out in a hour even with starters.

Just popped in on off chance. We had a really fab curry-service was great. Highly recommend this place.

Good food and we had a great meal, staff constantly asking you if you wanted another drink, and they really struggled with social distance as they lean over you and bang you about. At any other time such things wouldn’t event get a mention but it was a little off putting. Can’t complain about the friendliness and standards of food though, it was lovely.

Meal was very good. Looking forward to returning. Staff are very friendly. The main Chef had a day off yet the food was exceptional.

First of all, I would like to say this is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to the service was immaculate therefore I would like to have my wedding here. The first time, I came to zaras the food was amazing and they had a wide variety of Indian food from popadoms to vindaloos. Furthermore, I was greeted a nice young man called ihtasham who took our order. Hopefully I will be able to return to this restaurant after COVID 23 ends.

Portions are small & very over priced. I won't be going again...

We live 25 miles away and happily travel for the food, service and atmosphere. Recently visited with close family for a birthday meal and had an amazing time as we experience every time we come here!! Food is exquisite, every meal tried is thoroughly enjoyed!! Service is brilliant, happy to please with someone always on hand. Regardless of whether you book or not welcomes are always issued. Zara’s have established an amazing balance of fast service whilst delivering fresh delicious food. Would recommend this place to anyone that wants a quick tea to a meal for a special occasion. A traditional, homely restaurant with once again AMAZING food.

Went for the first time tonight and it was excellent, we will definitely be going back again. Staff were very attentive and portions more than adequate. Looking forward to our next visit.

We went on Thursday evening as a family of 8. I can honestly say it was the worst Indian meal ive ever had. The whole meal from the mixed starter to the main meal and garlic Naan tasted of literally nothing. The gentlemen serving us was incredibly rude. We wont be returning.

Excellent food but no Covid19 precautions There might have been some hand sanitizer on the bar as you enter but there was no requirement to leave a contact number, no one way system and no social distancing of tables which virtually touched each other I won't be going there again for a while !

After a recommendation by a family member we had a Zara special, some Seekh Kababs and Chapattis.The Chicken special was cooked perfectly and spiced exactly right. Medium with lots of flavours. One of the best Curry's for a very long time. One point from a previous review is that the Covid measures were very good. I had to mask up to enter, pay and when another customer entered I was politely asked to wait outside for them to bring it to me. We'll definitely be going back.

We love Zara’s restaurants & are regular customers but after a recent visit with friends we were concerned that there were no covid 19 restrictions in place. Besides being no hand sanitizers or soap in the ladies toilet, the waiter hovering over our table within an approximate six inch distance from our faces, the menus being passed freely from table to table without wiping and the card machine being passed from person to person without any sanitising - on reflection gave us cause for concern. Other issues were identified & it really spoilt our evening. The food was delicious - as always - but really disappointed that no risk assessments or customer / staff protections were in place.

Vegetable Biriani. Watery sauce and bland rice. Will not return. Ordering was simple and staff were friendly.

So glad that Zaras is open again during lockdown for takeaway food, having a family curry from our favourite Indian restaurant. Thanks to all at Zaras for some much needed tasty normality 👍🏻

First time ordering a takeaway from here and the last!I ordered from here as our usual Indian was closedHaving read the reviews we thought it would be a lovely meal so travelled 8 miles and waited 90minutes for collection We ordered chicken tikka starter and got lamb! Couldn’t even chew it as it was rock hardThe chicken tikka balti curry was even worse, very sparse, swimming in oil with a bone from a wing or leg in itWhat a massive disappointmentI have been eating Indian food for well over 30 years and can honestly say it is the worst I have ever had

The food was lovely but staff paid little to no attention to us as not regulars. A party of 5/6 left whilst we were eating and got hand shakes and 'Come back soon' when they left.I left a cash tip when I paid, not a thanks from the staff, when my disabled son walked past the bar whilst leaving he said 'Thank you, goodbye' and was ignored by the staff. I told them that the food was lovely but the service was terrible and not one word of apology nor any attempt to placate us, he owner/head waiter just raised his eyebrows.We've been regulars there a few years ago and the service was great, the same staff work there but as we're not regulars we were treated with indifference. They didn't even open the door for us when arriving/leaving with my disabled son (has Cerebral Palsy and as there is no wheelchair access I had to walk him in through the narrow doors whilst opening it myself). Won't be going back there, I'm sure there are other places that will appreciate my money more and make me feel like a worthy customer.
