As always amazing flavours and top quality. New favourite the lamb chops and Lamb tikka - so tender with great flavour and spice.

Tandoori chicken overcooked and tough. Onion bhaji, very overcooked to the point where some of it was a hard lump and couldn’t be cut. Have used these for years, I will think again next time.

As always the best Indian food around in Basildon. Always fresh and piping hot. Food is full of flavour and has the right spices.

food came really late more than 2 hours… that was so wrong

Ordered at 6pm at 6.50 told delayed til 8pm. Delivered at 7.45 stone cold and pink chicken. Terrible service. Rang and said id go and collect but Zara said it left them at 7.10 for delivery. Only had it delivered as it’s my birthday today 🤦🏻‍♀️ terrible meal. Korma was watery and tastes nothing like korma, rice was salty, tikka was pink. Such a shame.

Definitely the local go-to Indian takeaway. Food is consistently high quality. Occasionally, delivery takes too long, however, I've received compensation in the form of free goodies. Fantastic takeaway, can highly recommend.

1st order from here. Ordered Zara vegetable but what looks like a chicken curry arrived.

The jalfrezy is mean to be red. Not sure why it was yellowish. The lamp chops too salty.

We were missing a mango chutney that we paid extra for. Other than that, the food was really nice. But we couldn’t enjoy the poppadoms without the mango chutney.

The food was tasteless ! Like there was no flavour to any of it !

Ordered chicken biriyani nd butter chiken tikka,doesn't taste like mentioned biriyani it was just a rice with some small chicken pieces, without salt i have to add salt for taste.. Butter chicken was not at looking like butter chiken not at all appealing for eyes.. Very less quantity and Overly priced when compared to other Indian restaurants.

orderd Lamb rogan, got chicken.... food ok, just not very hot, on arrival... not Zara's usual high standard.... usually order direct from the restaurant, but there app was saying restaurant closed.....

Was impressed as arrived early. Food was nice only reason I didn't give 5 stars was it leaked in the bag so was a bit messy. Other than that was impressed

Used to be really good, not anymore. Last two orders had a missing item. On the second time we called to let them know, they did send out a replacement but took an hour to arrive and was cold. Food is ok but a bit bland for the last year.

Do not order from here! I haven't ordered from Zara for a little while but for some silly reason decided to tonight. Big mistake! Ordered through deliveroo at 6pm and waited the estimated time frame for delivery of 40 mins. Waited and waited and still had not received it after 1.5 hours. I then called Zara multiple times to ask about the status of the delivery to possibly cancel but was unable to speak to anyone. Decided to drive and collect my order myself and met my deliveroo driver inside the takeaway. Very nice man. He had been waiting some time, along with what appeared to be several other drivers and disgruntled customers. I still had to wait another 20 mins while they quickly made up my order. No apology from the guy on the desk for the delay and poor service. I feel he is in desperate need of a good customer service refresher course !! Please don't take orders if u are so overwhelmed and if you do, atleast answer your phone to explain the situation so the customer can make alternative arrangements if necessary. Also your recorded telephone msg is very outdated. It states you recently won best in Essex award. I believe that was in fact 2017 , so not very recent. Yes, you used to be good and possibly the best but sadly have deteriorated over the years. I think you have a long, long way to go to achieve that status again. The customer service is dreadful, food mediocre and by the way, the chicken sizzler also promised in recorded msg never arrives. Will not be ordering from you again.

We ordered a takeaway for date night to which the first driver refused we feel due to how long the restaurant was taking. The order time kept changing so after 1hr 30min we got our order for one of the mains to be missing. When calling the restaurant, they said it would be an hour to replace but we could collect. Collection wasn't an option so asked for a refund to which we was told we had to call back at 10 when the manager was there and they hung up the phone. I will NEVER order from there again and I advise people not to. Food that we did get had not alot of meat in and not match taste.

Ordered food around 18:30 didn’t arrive till 20:45. Food was cold as well when it finally did arrive

Never even arrived called repeatedly to request where is was , contantly told 10 mins 10 minsn, never arrivec after 3 hours iv given up ,, people on there phone lines are rude ! If yoh want food to arrive dont bother with this place !!!

Took 2.5hrs from ordering and they are really close to where I live, with delivery taking so long the food was luke warm at best, also didn’t taste of much really. Never again

Usually food is OK and it still is however, Came to collect my order I placed online forgot my cash my fault went and got cash so they had time anyways to correct my order. Picked it up got home they forgot one of my items went back myself as I was told it would be at least half hour to deliver to me. When I did come back I could see their delivery driver just sitting there so he could've easily done my order. 3 other staff members were also just sitting there chilling All I got was a half hearted apology. Got back home the madras I has ordered was a lamb Tika massala and the chicken tikka my girlfriend had ordered was a chicken madras. Me going back and forth for that is just unacceptable

This was nice and it did come really quickly but it was cold. It’s still tasted good but had to reheat it before I could eat it x

A very lovely meal. All food was full of flavour and really hot and the dishes looked like art work. No complaints whatsoever. Keep it up guys, will be ordering again soon.

When booked stated delivery time was 35 minutes. Once book it stated over an hour and 20 minutes.

Disappointing that you order tandoori chicken and get something completely different it’s not even the same spice or on the bone , had this twice now in recent months it’s not the same starter at all and when your ordering 3 or 4 of them would expect a call if you’ve run out not just a replacement which is not the same meal at all completely different quality

Zara are known for good quality food, feels like the meal was sub standard in comparison to previous meals ordered here. The ingredients used have most definitely have the current economy in mind☹️

Delicious, generous, quick delivery. Their chicken tikja masala is a triumph, one of the best I've tasted.

Ordered at 7:55 to be told it would arrive around 9:05-9:20pm at 9:30 we call restaurant and then they say oh yes your order has just left the restaurant. At 10pm we received a call from the driver saying I hear there’s been a mix up with your order and that our order will be coming out on the next delivery so will be delivered in the next 5 mins. We call the restaurant back at 10:30 as the app said it had been delivered which it hadn’t been! We were then told for the second time it’s just left the restaurant and will be with you in 10 mins. At 10:45 the order was delivered stone cold and inedible!!! With being diabetic I could not wait this length of time and had to make my self something to eat. Almost 3 hours to wait for an order is absolutely disgusting and to receive the order inedible is the icing on the cake!!! We requested a full refund where this has been refused so this will be taken further and trading standards contacted!!!! Absolutely awful customer service lying and deceiving!!!!!

Never ordered before but my usual was closed today. Absolutely vile; chicken tasted old and reheated, rice cold, keema naan bread had a bitter taste to the mince. Won’t be ordering from here again, the only redeeming factor was the delivery time and the pleasant driver.

Food was delivered at 22.25 , I called around 21:23 I was told the driver was on the way to be after 20 minutes and no food I called the restaurant 22:42 they reported having technical issues so they didn’t even process my order the guy on the phone said they would get to me in 10 minutes the food was delivered around 22:25 for an order that was placed at 20:00 , I was left very dissatisfied overall with the delivery time and food quality

Food over 1h30mins late although ordered before they had opened for delivery. Requested update on when arriving, still didn’t arrive. After speaking with the restaurant who said ‘sorry running late my food is still in the kitchen with two dishes to still be completed’. Requested money back via the app due to being so late which was declined by restaurant because they were claiming driver stuck in bad traffic! I just spoken to you where you said it was still in the kitchen!? …. Still waiting for the food to turn up…

I don’t normally leave reviews and have ordered from Zara many times but tonight the order was 3 and half hours late and the food was cold sorry to say we won’t be ordering again

Waited almost 3 hours for our food phoned the shop multiple times given the run around saying they couldn’t get hold of the driver and the driver had been out with our food for an hour. When the driver arrived he said he had just picked up our order and the restaurant never had it ready before .asked for a refund multiple times to be told the food was coming he would be there in 2 mins

Unfortunately the sauce pots leaked all over my Popadoms so they was all soggy and everything was a mess. Onion bargi was very burnt aswell.

Haven’t used Zara for ages,we used to use them a lot and always being bombarded with offers .So as I’d been travelling for work hubby ordered takeaway for us.It’s got massively expensive but was supposed to be a treat .Long story short order not picked up,no dinner and money not going back in for three days .Will stick to Deliveroo in future methinks .

Poor service by both the restaurant and just eat, usually there has previously been instant chat in just eat to complain about the poor orders but this time and seems going forward this is no longer the case. The restaurant didn't receive any of my notifications via just eat to contact me so I ended up contacting them. The provided eta was before delivery and the restaurant didn't think to provide customer service and contact me to advise me of this. Really unimpressed by all parties in the customer service part. The food was good. I can't say it was fantastic as even here there could've been elements that could've been improved such as chewy meat wasn't cooked enough and naan bread with meat inside had areas with no meat. Certainly in no rush to return to both this restaurant or just eat going forward.

Chicken in my bhuna was extremely tough

2nd time it's recently happened in a few months.(Has happened before a long while ago) Need a new bag checker!!! Order with a dish missing, part of someone's meal. After a call, they will send it out. Two calls chasing, over half hour later the missing dish arrives. Everyone else has eaten. Very frustrating. Can't fault taste of dish. Just don't expect it all to arrive! Just poor service and regular missing items.

Just about worth waiting for.....over an hour late, but it was clear from the phone call that they were having a bad night. Anyway, food was excellent even if it was slightly cold.

Scheduled delivery for 11:10pm, the latest delivery time as I was working, as mentioned in the delivery notes. Only to have my food arrive before 10pm. And it being stone cold by the time I returned from work due to the lack of following instructions. Additionally didn't call me, as requested upon delivery.

Absolutely disgusting kept hanging up when we phoned for a delivery. Finally picked up was rushed on the phone when placing order. Was told 1 hour delivery. 2 and a half hours later still no food. Kept phoning. When it finally came cold and missing 3 things. Not using again. Would not recommend

Chicken dansak and chicken tikka starter was awful, the chicken was rock hard

Popadoms were awful, over fried and dripping with grease, not to usual standards. 35-50mins advertised delivery then increased to 1.25hrs on order placement then ended up being 1.5hrs.

Food wasn’t very hot. As it’s colder now I suggest leaving it in an insulated bag to the door
