I order online food and who come to deliver my food that person very rude to me and he saying next time don’t order from this restaurant we don’t come here it’s so fare and he didn’t let me speak even that guy very rude for sure 100 I’m not happy with him I spend my money for good food and that guy totally rubbish behaviour body language totally rubbish person I never seen my like never ever again this restaurant just because of this person …. I had an experience regarding this restaurant. The behaviour of this restaurant owner are very bad with the staff.They think that they're everything of their restaurant. They’ve torture their staff mentally. However the food quality is excellent.

Just casual night out.we went on the night the boss is rude and dnt give stuff any tips waiters has told me they dnt get any tips so don't put any tips .curry was cold rice was overcooked

Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi was very nice, with a good balance of flavours. Only one slight issue, as someone who eats Jalfrezi on a regular basis, I found this dish was slightly salty. It permutated through the dish more than I had wished....I found I used more bread to mask as a trade-off. But, the balance of taste, spices, and chilles were excellent. The onions and peppers were well proportioned and cooked very well. Just the right balance of sweetness in the onion, peppers 🌶

Me and my two sons dined in. First time we’ve ever been to this particular restaurant. The food was excellent. The service was very good. They are incredibly expensive charging £18.95 for a king. Prawn dish is the highest I’ve ever seen. The manager or owner is a miserable sod, ill mannered and rude.

Dined in as we have on many occasions previously and we have always had amazing service and excellent food. The restaurant is clean and the staff are always welcoming. One of our favourites in Billericay

Fantastic food and such a friendly service. Nothing is never a trouble for the restaurant and the staff are so quick to respond . I have been coming here for 15 years and I am sure the food has got better and better each week. In addition their wine selection is fantastic and they are so patient with rude drunk customers at other tables.

Just had a takeaway delivered from here. Total waste of money, food was bland and boring. Vegetable curry looked and tasted like a cheap soup mix. Lamb dhansak was edible but tasted like it needed more time to cook and marinate.

Ordered a takeaway this evening from a restaurant we have used frequently without previous issues. Neither of us eat meat, we ordered King Prawn meals After collection on arrival home we discovered one of the meals was not King Prawn but Chicken On phoning the restaurant after questioning whether we were sure it was chicken, which obviously it was, we enquired about a refund. As the transaction was made by credit card we were told we needed to go to the restaurant in order to enable refund to be made. We were told a replacement meal would be made to replace the chicken one We then had to travel back to the restaurant leaving the other food at home waiting our return. Returning to the restaurant I was offered a bottle of beer, no attempt made to refund any money considering 2 journeys had to be made & food left at home was getting cold! I stated I didn’t want the beer, so was asked what I wanted I stated a refund for the wrong meal that had caused all the problems I was told refund couldn’t be made on the card despite being told over the phone we needed to return to get refund. I was the offered a £10 note for a £12+ meal. For regular customers the attitude & customer service was all wrong I refused the £10 as I was unhappy with the service when they were at fault The overall service was very poor

Excellent food and service which is why I return time after time with family and friends. Authentic flavours are amazing. King prawn dansak, brinjal bhaji and saag paneer always a winner with me.

We were a table of 8 on a busy Saturday night. We have been going here for many years but we will not be going back. Unfortunately our food was cold and the service was appalling. The manager was rude and unapologetic. The venue itself needs a complete refurbishment. Threadbare carpet on the stairs, sticky handrails.

Had a lovely meal with my wife. Staff were attentive and friendly. The food was tasty and we will definitely return soon. As an aside, well done to the staff and manager in the way that they dealt with a very rude table of people that were sitting close to us….

Very average food not terrible but I expect better. seemed like we were rushed out because table was needed? 😕 Even though it was not busy. Very clean and a nice building but the food was bland and underwhelming as was the service.

The women were lovely but unfortunately I ordered a bottle of wine from the manger over the phone for my mum and they wasn’t actually presented with such bottle until they questioned the bill as they knew I ordered one. It was dishonest to take payment and then charge for 2 more bottles on the bill knowing they should of only been charged for one. Manager was rude and hung up on me when questioned said he was busy and basically didn’t care. My dad managed to get one bottle taken off the bill but it is ridiculous how rude and dishonest a “manager” can be. NO REPEAT CUSTOMERS HERE.

Curry was bland. I tried my friends, it was also very bland. I honestly felt like asking for salt which was not on the table. Genuinely not sure there was any spices added to the curry at all. Staff, service and setting was pretty good which is why it gets 2 stars instead of 1

Don’t order with them on just eat. They will just cancel your order 30mins before it’s meant to arrive (I ordered 5 hours before the delivery time, so no excuse)

Quality of food was excellent - one of the best curries I've had for quite a while ! First time eating here but this will probably be our regular go to curry house from now on...

Great food, friendly service & reasonable prices!

Ordered food for delivery and were told it would take around an hour. After no food arrived we called and were told it would be another half an hour. In fact it took another hour. It’s not hard to communicate how busy the restaurant is when people order, or to be more accurate when we call because the food is MIA. This isn’t the first time food has arrived late from Kosthuree. We can’t order from here again, it’s too unpredictable.

Great food, fantastic staff and a great atmosphere. This is the best Indian restaurant in Billericay by miles. If I could, I would give them 6 stars!

Very good food and service, worth a visit

I have eaten here so many times and to be fair should have written an excellent review but this is why its 2 stars not 1. I ordered and found a large piece of hard plastic in my food. I sent photos to the manager and basically was told I could have more food. Not happy.

Booked table at 7,45 sat down at 8,15,waited 20 mins to order a drink , another 20 mins to order food , had to ask for napkins and cutlery, Food was nice , but the service let the restaurant down , 2 people serving a full restaurant, disappointing really

Food arrived quickly. Starters were really nice I had the duck tikka and Mrs had tandoori prawn. Next for the mains I had a mixed bhuna and the mrs had chicken tikla roman. Both very bland and tasteless. We skipped dessert due to the quality of the main. The hot towels smelt of wet dog. Would advise against visiting here and visit "The Raj" instead as it is a minute or two walk away and miles better!

My husband and I visit this restaurant on a very regular basis at least once a fortnight and have always had lovely food. You can always request more or less spice on your chosen dish and they are only too happy to accommodate your request. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is comfortable. The prices are reasonable and I would highly recommend it. Can’t wait for it to open again as we both miss dining here. Try it and make up your own mind.

Our last meal in the Kosthuree before the lockdown started. Excellent food and service as usual. Our favourite restaurant in Billericay by far. Now relying on phoning our order in and collecting a takeaway.

the overwhelming smell of wet dog as I entered caused me to research into the food hygiene...2!!! out of 5... got past that and ordered, food was gross, looked like boiled rice rather than pilau. the curry was tasteless and had no spice. it was my boyfriends first curry and you ruined it

Booked a table 8pm for 4 people. Eventually ordered food by 8.30 but had to wait until 10pm until our food arrived. Asked for manager but he refused to come and see us. Wait was simply unacceptable! Only positive was food was nice once it arrived. Shame about the service.

We had a very poor experience at the Kosthuree. We had made a booking for a large party on a Saturday evening but on arrival it was apparent they were under resourced and ill equipped to cater for us. We arrived at 8:30 and wasn't offered a drink until 9. The food was subsequently staggered and eventually everyone had been served by 10:45 but in most instances it was cold. When we sent the food back we were met with a very blasé attitude and told "its a busy night what do you expect" an unsympathetic apology and tiny good will gesture were eventually given but much more could have been done to rectify the short-falling of the evening and the party all left disgruntled. We will not be returning based on the service we received.

I haven’t walked out of a restaurant for over 20 years - until this evening! Having been stuck on a table in the corner next to the kitchen of the restaurant we ordered quickly to avoid being overlooked. After being served a drink and poppadoms we were ignored for 45 minutes whilst we watched the take-away orders being shipped out under our noses. When I enquired when we might expect our food (surely not an unreasonable question after three quarters of an hour) the waitress feigned surprise that we hadn’t been served and a young lad then told us it would be five minutes. Eight minutes later the manager (a man in a dodgy waistcoat, anyway) repeated the five minute lie and told me they were busy. When I observed that they were busy because of the high volume of takeaways and that the kitchen probably couldn’t keep up, I was told not to be unreasonable and the dodgy waistcoat man disappeared. After a further five minutes I requested the bill for two poppadoms, a coke and a beer (£9.25) and left, hungry and frustrated! The food may be divine (they certainly have a lot of takeaway customers!) but the greed of the owners is overwhelming the capacity of the kitchen and unless you like to wait over an hour for your meal, probably best avoided on a Saturday night. Very poor attitude from the staff to a situation which could easily have been defused by somebody asking if our glasses needed refilling (they did) an apology for the wait and a couple of free popadoms to stave off hunger. I shall not be returning.

4 of us(two couples) in for dinner and enjoyed it all very much. Lovely atmosphere inside in what is a 16th century Tudor building - all authentic. Good service and all the food was well presented. They do an evening special with 1 starter and 1 main plus rice or naan for £11.75. No skimping on the portions. We had a duck starter, a king plan starter and some spiced mushrooms .Mains were chicken dhansak, a veg curry, lamb dopiasa and a chicken dopiasa plus pulau rice. All nicely cooked , very tasty and not overly spicy. Good service.

We went because we had seen them in the programme of our local football team and booked up for an evening after the football. We were a little bit early but they were fine about it and seated us straight away. The service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was wonderful and really good value too. We will certainly be going back soon, especially as we got a discount for being billericay town season ticket holders.

the foods are alright, would not say is the best india restaurant in Billericay but the service actually very good especially the waitress always with a smile and attentive enough not overwhelm.

Just a short review here but this is our regular go to. Really friendly staff that bend over backwards to accommodate, lovely food and a good atmosphere.

My first time here for a few years. Staff polite, place clean, and food good quality, albeit not too spiced. If you like your Indian food with a bit of a kick like I do, I would suggest you tell them you want your dish mate hotter. Would visit again!

First time here, the service was good and the staff were attentive. The food was also very good, but generally more spicy than most other restaurants I've been to. Which is great for me as I love super spicy food, I had a chicken Vindaloo, my partner had chicken Jalfrezi which was really nice but seemed more spicy than the Vindaloo. The only downside was our table was very close to the next table which made being comfortable a little awkward. Would definitely recommend :0)

This place drove far as it was suggested a nice place should of looked at reviews.I ordered King Prawn dish overcooked and not the quality I expected did question but then was asked did i want smaller prawns?? I have had better from more local and wish i did now. Onion Bajai was overcooked should have known then but thought no wait till main course. Would never go back told the lady that came to table not once did the manager come over to see or ask worse place in Essex so far.

Living in Shenfield, you get used to overpriced, average food from the more "fashionable' establishments that seems to go down well locally. However, a visit to Kosthuree during a night out in Billericay was a very pleasant surprise. The food was good, service excellent and the price entirely reasonable. Wouldn't hesitate going back again.

Beautiful building and tastefully decorated inside. Food very nice. Lots of things I really liked about this restaurant but unfortunately our experience was ruined by the owner who was very rude and unprofessional and clearly very stressed out. It made us feel very uncomfortable the way he constantly screamed at his staff across the restaurant (who were all lovely and doing all the hard work). Because of his behaviour and the atmosphere that he created I will not be returning to this restaurant.

One of the nicer Indian restaurants in Billericay. Food is consistently good and doesn't taste anywhere near as artificial as others. The dishes are generally very well done, not oily like you often get with Indian food and everything tastes fresh. Portion sizes are also generous. Very friendly staff also, we have never had a bad meal.

Another visit to our favourite 'Indian' restaurant - this time to celebrate a family birthday. The food as usual was excellent as was the service and excellent value too.

We went there on Saturday night it was buzzing with with costumers wish we loved it. The food was brilliant drink and service all the top for Saturday night specially when it full to the max. Thanks guys we will definitely see you soon.

We have had some great night here the restuarant is beautiful and cosy. The staff are very friendly and alway remember us. The food is always been great we love Indian food and this place alway delivers quality and freshness to our table.

First visit here in a number of years and have to say we were very disappointed with the food and the service. We waited a long while for our order to be taken, a white wine spritzer was warm and flat and the replacement wasn't much better. Lamb chop starters were over cooked and the prawn poori was very bland and only warm. Salmon tikka was plain Salmon!! All other dishes were bland and tasteless. The staff were not interested in our complaint and walked away whilst we were explaining our disappointment. When the manager came over he interrupted us when we were explaining our disappointment but did deduct the cost of the salmon from the bill. I know a lot of people really rate this restaurant but we certainly won't be returning as the food is sooo bland, is luke warm and the staff don't want to know!

Take away came out 20 minutes late. When i got home found thar 2 items were missing. Tried to phone for half hour and got no answer. Went back and asked for refund for missing items and was short changed. Very rudely told my order had been rushed through and I had got there early. Won't be going back.

The service started well. Then went off rapidly as the place became busier the staff were very attentive to regular customers. The chicken was specific but the meat just said "meat" and was very tough so much so that I lost a filling.

Last time we had a curry here was about 3mths ago. It was full up (always a good sign) & our companions thought that the food was better the normal.

Went here for a meal with friends at 8pm on a Saturday, had to wait 1 hour 40 mins for our food, wanting to leave but was so starving. Asked many times when the food would arrive and just ignored by staff or would be 10 mins, so had to order more and more poppadoms, because was so hungry and had to ask for the chutney relishes that should come with this. Also did not get our drinks till 30 mins after being there and other tables being served before us. Highlighted this to the manager when leaving, but he did not care and came across very angry.

Let’s be honest - pretty much all the curry house’s on Billericay high street are pretty good untill I went to the Kosthuree tonight! Food was o.k. Welcome and customer service bloody dreadful!! On entering I asked if they had something that was different to the norm but not too Spicey. I was advised by the two lovey ladies to try a special dish. Turned out to be the hottest curry they do! Please avoid much better customer service 2 mins away.

Regular weekly visit to the Kosthuree with my wife. Excellent food and service as usual. Excellent value and service as well - best in Billericay.

We have visited this restaurant, both for eating in and for takeaway and have always found the usual Indian food dishes to be well made, with good size portions and well presented. It's true we usually stick to the more common chicken curries like Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tikka Dansak, Chicken Madras so cannot really comment on the whole menu.

Spent a night here with a few friends. Food great (my favourite Indian on the high st), service ok but the place just lacked any kind of atmosphere. It didn't help that there weren't too many people in the restaurant but I think with such an historic building you could do more in the dining area. Great great food and for this reason I would recommend it

My wife and I fancied a curry and called into Kosthuree on the off chance of getting a table for two. We were shown to a very pleasant table and were offered drinks straight away, the service was very good with our order taken in good time. The food was very well cooked and extremely flavorsome, all for under £40-00. We will return.

Regular visit to the Kosthuree - last Friday with elder son and granddaughter - excellent food and service as usual. Most reliable and best curry in the UK!

Never had a bad meal here. Highly recommend as the premier Indian in Billericay. Also cooks the tastiest motor paneer
