Zaika Cuisine in Calderdale

Since Zaika changed hands, the service is beyond terrible. We've given them several chances, but takeaway is always horribly late and often with items missing. Takeaway 2 weeks ago took 2 hours! Went to collect tonight - 40 minutes after the stated time and still stood here waiting. No free bhaji with delivery anymore and there's always something missing from the order. Such a shame as the food is lovely. Tonight was last chance saloon and it's been a big fat fail.

The chef was more than happy to go off menu and prepared a few of our favourites. The beer was cold and crisp - the food was delightful looking fresh bright and super tasty I’m going again this week - it was that good

Visited with my friend last night who is a regular to Zaika’s and I myself have been a few times before. Last night was our first visit back to the restaurant since lockdown lifted. My goodness I genuinely forgot how amazing the food is! I had garlic mushrooms for starters and tandoori king prawns for main and it didn’t fault. The guy serving us brought us the wrong bottle of wine, genuine mistake but we liked it so didn’t want to say anything, the waiter later came over and said he realised his mistake and he would give us the bottle of wine free due to the mistake. This was a totally unexpected gesture and we would have been more than happy to pay for it but it just shows the fantastic customer service that the guys at Zi’s have and the reason we keep coming back. I’ve missed you guys and your food and I can’t wait to return again soon!

Well given the Restaurant another chance, after going first night after lock down, no bottles or draught on. Wine oK. Just been tonight. Really what a slack set up. Not happy at all. Really miss Naz. Will not be returning.

Food was absolutely delicious, we were staying near by and didn’t know what to expect, but the food was perfect, and so fresh! If we come back, we will order from here again

We decided to give Zaika a try as it was getting good reviews. We booked in for the "Eat out" 50 % offer. The place was full when we arrived which good but there was a table for 12 persons set up which should not have been allowed as Calder valley was in lock down & only families were allowed. The food was ok but not brilliant. Service was very good as the 2 guys were up & down the stairs all the time. We will give it another try later when its safer to do that.

Good delivery service and tasty chicken Methi every time. Would give five stars but the chicken is a little on the dry side, although still a good curry.

We use this restaurant on a regular basis , when open. The food is amazing and the staff are fantastic. We have had group bookings there on a regular basis and have never been disappointed. We aren’t big on takeaways, but it’s become a must during lockdown. The quality and service provided has not disappointed in any way. All cooked fresh to order. Recommended !

Can’t believe this place has got 4.5 stars, food was completely bland, vindaloo sauce was like water and not even hot, no flavour to the biryani and the veg pakora was breaded! Never seen that before and was completely inedible. The only half decent thing was the free onion Bhajis and the chapatis. Would definitely not recommend

I ordered a Biryani. Listed on the menu as a very aromatic dish. Made with sultanas, almonds and Rose Water. This is what I would expect from an authentic biryani. Not at this restaurant! There was not a trace of any of the advertised ingredients. When I spoke to the restaurant they said, “we don’t use them ingredients anymore”. I asked if it was right to include this description on the menu if it’s not what they serve. I got the old chestnut, I can’t do anything, I only work here. Be careful when you order. If they suddenly for example decide they no longer include chicken in their Balti Chicken Tikka or prawns in their King Prawn Madras. Too bad.

Very tasty curry,ordered to my house,reasonable price. I highly recommend the vegetable rice and red chicken of the bone.

Whether you are a regular customer or just pop in now and then, you are always made welcome, a really varied menu and good value for your money, friendly helpful staff and look to accommodate requests, within reason of course.

Lovely curry delivered again tonight... and I now know I can order and pay through the website! The best curry house that can deliver to our ‘remote’ house! Great food, great service!

We often get take aways from Zaika, but the last few weeks we have sat in the restaurant to eat. It's cozy, friendly, the food is always excellent, and the prices are reasonable. We would recommend this place to anyone.

Love Zakia, always a fab meal. My husband is coeliac also. And this has never been a problem. Highly recommended

Visited a few times and never disappointed, service was brilliant, and the staff are always friendly and accomodating.

Not your standard Indian food, but more like home-cooked Indian food. Nothing pretentious, but great tasting and big portions. I made up my meal from the 'sides' - Dhal Masala, Sag Paneer, Stuffed Paratha. My husband had Vegetable Biryani which came with a large dish of vegetable curry. We had plenty to eat and took home about half of it.

The chicken madras was the best I have tasted since the 1980s. I have bought madras several times over the years from other companies and none compare with this tonight. I will keep on ordering at least once a month so long as it is this perfect.,,! I am one happy customer. The vegetable rice was also perfect. The salad side order was crisp and fresh and the onion salad and mango chutney didn’t taste or smell mouldy as I have experienced from other takeaways. Lovely, happy, smiling young delivery man made my day. What more can I say. 10 out of 10. Keep up the good work guys. Food to die for. You won’t be disappointed folks.

Shockingly appalling food - all the sauces were bland and tasteless - the meat was gristly and coated in red dye - unbeatable! - we will not be eating there again!

Went last night after being recommended. Enjoyed it. Food was good, tiny place with great atmosphere and nice friendly staff. We ordered 2 specials and although truthfully there wasn’t much difference between the 2, they were nice anyway. Menu is keenly priced and good for the remote area which has surprisingly loads of competition from further down the road to Todmorden

Visited family on New Years Day and didn't want to impose and expect them to cook. Decided to order a takeaway and Zaika was the only menu available so we ordered. They offer a free portion of onion bhajis with collected orders over £11 and as we were spending £60 and collecting I asked if we could have 2 free portions of onion bhajis. The guy on the phone said that would be fine. When we got the food home we were very surprised to find 3 small onion bhajis as our free offering. They were pathetic and we didn't even get one each. I would have preferred he had told me no and we would have ordered some. The curries were bland and lacked spice. My Rogan Josh was more like a chicken casserole with no heat to it at all. Over priced, bland food and disappointing service. Will not be going back and do not recommend.

So pleased to have great new owners, the meals are excellent, whether we eat in or order a take away. Naz and Mosey are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, great food at great prices, a little gem!

The restaurant is small, but its fine if you fancy eating in. However, most of our experience with Zaika is as a take away (actually a delivery, which is even better) - and they are consistently good and reasonably timely.

Sleepy backwater unpretentious restaurant. No frills but great food and excellent service. Food and drinks are value for money .

Went here tonight what a very clean and calming place to go for a meal, not been there for at least 4 years it's changed hands twice since I last visited. The meal was hot and tasty and value for money, will defiantly call again

Naz and Mosey were once waiters here and have now returned as the new owners, what a great team they make, altered the menu but the food is still first class and they are both so friendly and welcoming. We have been coming here since the restaurant opened originally and can in honestly say we have never been disappointed and really feel that the two new young owners are really on the ball and wish them all the best in their new venture and if the last couple of meals since their takeover is anything to go by they should do very well as the service,food and ambience is fantastic.

Fácilmente el mejor lugar curry en el valle y un servicio encantador. Comida en Zaika es excepcional, tradicional y deliciosa. Altamente recomendado

Not as good as we remembered !! Lamb curry consisted of 3 pieces of lamb !! The rest tomatoes and onions!! I'm not a vegetarian!!! A dinner for two , a starter a main and a drink each £36 not impressed! Sorry

This place used to be our favourite for an amazing curry as you can see from my previous reviews . But it's sad to say since the chef left the new food standards have dropped very bland. Need some more flavour and spices .

Have been to this restaurant since it opened originally,always had good food and service but the new owners are something else will do everything in their power to please and will change any dish to your particular liking. Have no negatives about this lovely little Indian as have never had to complain in over 20 yrs and must say congratulations to the new management as the food is first class.

We had eaten here regularly over the last 7 years. After a recent change of hands we were a little disappointed and didn't feel it was up to its usual standard. The manager however did ask for feedback. We decided to give it another try and were really glad we did. Well done Zaika!

Always a pleasure to eat here. Vegetarians are very well catered for with a huge range of dishes. The Baileys is a very nice touch at the end of the meal too.

We came here for the sunday meal deal which was fantastic value! The food was well prepared and very tasty, the staff were attentative and friendly. Although the decor is a little dated, there is a nice feel to the restaurant. We have had takeaway from here a few times and the standard is the same from restaurant to takeaway.

Excellent food and pleasant staff make this our favourite curry house in Todmorden, whether we drive up to Cornholme to eat in or order a take away. Although it's changed hands, the food is still delicious and great value for money.

We've lived in the area for 12 years and have been eating in and getting take aways from Zaika since we moved here. This is a proper 'old school' curry house and the food is always top notch in our experience. The new owners are keeping up the same standards and we've found Dee and his team welcoming and really helpful when it comes to adapting dishes where necessary for my vegan wife. The veggie dishes are always extremely tasty (the cauli bhaji and chana masala are wonderful) and we've taken many meat eaters here who have always thoroughly enjoyed it.They are now open 7 days a week which is even better!

Zaika provides authentic tasty Asian cuisine and they are very efficient in their home delivery service as well

been coming here for years..great value for money and good standard of food...friendly family buisness always give free drink and chocolate at end of meal..always a very nice experience

Been going here for years as our go-to take away. Unfortunately since the new owners have taken over the food seems to have gone downhill a bit...still OK but not longer great. Also more expensive, and could do with new front of house...a few communication issues...Given price now i will probably get take away from Vedas in future.

This was our first visit since the new owners had taken over. The old Zaika was all about good food at great prices. Yes, the restaurant had been in need of a facelift for many years but that was part of its charm, small, unassuming, like eating in someone's front room. The new Zaika has new flooring, a new carpet on the stairs and a new sign! Fortunately the food was as good as its always been. Maybe slightly more expensive but bigger portions for the mains. Some good new menu additions as well. However, please let the customer tear up the naan rather than serve it quartered! We will be back soon.

Love this place amazing food from new owners ! Order or eat in here atleat twice a month and always get a very warm welcome and food is just amazing love it !!

The food here is not to be missed best curry I've had in a long time and prices very good . Service was great this time with chef making an appearance to check how food was . Don't be put off by surroundings it's a must !!!

Went here as only live 2 mins away and never heard any reviews so glad we have it a go amazing food and very attentive staff good portions great prices and even a complimentary baileys . Can see this place becoming our regular place to eat ! Well worth a visit . Oh and don't be put off by the dated decor !

Have been here many many times and can honestly say it serves the best Indian food ever.I travel all over the place and always compare Indian cusines with Ziaka and it leave the competition behind.Staff are always very helpful with the menue explanations and have a great memory too which means choosing the dish you raved about last time easy.Quite and out of the way loads of off road parking opposite.We are taking a party of 20 there next week so miss Thursday night guys unless you want to join in!!

I've eaten in and I've had many of take away from here, and this is the best Indian I've been too. I recommend this place too anybody.

Went here for Christmas dinner it was a great choice and value for money.They waiters and staff made it a nice afternoon.There food was plentiful and tasty.I will be returning again this coming Christmas.

The curry was ok, but I've had better. Makes a nice change from pub grub. Parking is on the road side and the restaurant could do with upgrading.

A quiet spot which could easily be missed if you didn't know this place existed. It has a very retro and dated feel about the place and some development is needed on marketing, brand and presentation. The restaurant offers an excellent standard Indian menu and a basic English offer for the less adventurous. The bar has draft 'Cobra' beer and a good selection of other alcoholic beverages. The staff here would benefit from some customer service training, I felt they lacked confidence and enthusiasm in their ability. However, they were attentive and well mannered and made our party feel welcome. To start we had the pickle tray which wasn't pleasant and the special mixed Kebab just lacked spice! The mains were certainly much better and I had the best chicken Karahi I've ever tasted! The chicken tikka masala was tasty too but the presentation resembled something out of a horror film! I didn't receive value for money and I wouldn't visit this restaurant again but would order the Karahi to takeaway!

Zaika is a lovely little restaurant and I cannot believe how few reviews it has. The service is wonderful and the food is delicious! It isn't expensive and you get fairly large portions. I have been numerous times and always enjoyed my experience. As it is a small restaurant I would recommend booking if it was a large party hoping to eat. They also do take out which is good also but I prefer to eat in when dining with Zaika. They also have an upstairs dining area which I believe is available for large parties. Definitely recommend.

I cannot believe this place has no reviews yet, my boyfriend love it and took me his dad n friend tonight. The food was well gorgeous. I can't find a fault. We will be going back. :)
