Birds Nest in Calderdale

Been ordering with birds nest for a long time but it has gone down hill, I ordered the salt and pepper box and it was disgusting and not worth £20 the onion rings were just onion with no batter and I don’t know why onion rings are on the menu as it is a chinese.

Firstly, i dont write reviews. This is the first and only one ive made the effort to do. The best Chinese takeaway I've ever had. My son lives in York now but always wants a Birds Nest meal when he's over. Love the new addition of fortune cookies, tasty and fun change from boring prawn crackers. Been customer for 30yrs. Tried Jing Jing simply because Birds Nest was closed. Disgusting food, and that's being generous. Won't risk anywhere else again. I'd rather go without.

Been ordering n collecting here since it opened..always enjoyed the food .my mother has Alzheimer's now and would eat anything without a fuss..tonight i rang order in as usual..had to chase up after an hour...said it was still in kitchen .when it came my mom left quite a bit..sweet n sour chicken..saying it was tough..i had a try..n would have got through leather boots more easily...very disappointing...

Food was delicious! Piping hot and fresh. Ordering again tonight! The owners were very nice and their young son is a credit to them! He came and sat with us whilst we waited and was very polite.

Absolutely love Bird’s Nest, we won’t order from anywhere else. Food is 10/10, really reasonably priced, delivery is always quick and the takeaway and delivery people are always so pleasant and friendly. Our favourite Chinese place ever

Got food poisoning from here, do not recommend.

Delivery was very fast, food was good sized and very enjoyable, noodles could have been better but apart from this everything was lovely.

Usually OK but had the worst satay I have tasted. No flavour, full of pineapple. It was poor

Here on holiday and first time ordering food from this Chinese takeaway. Polite staff on the phone. Food arrived within half an hour. And was I would say one of the nicest Chinese dinners we have ever had. Had the king prawn chow mein and special chow mein. And egg fried rice. Plus the sweet n sour chicken. Couldn't fault in anyway. Lovely food.

Tasteless and overpriced,the pork in my special fried rice had a green tinge! Won't be going again

My mum decided she fancied a takeaway last night, as she had been really busy all day, so we decided to have a Chinese, the bloke in the Chinese had our order ready when we went to collect it and it was excellent food

Ordered special fried rice, first visit in quite a while. Food very bland and the meat was quite fatty. Not sure I’ll be retuning

Have been going here for years and have had little issues however, the last couple of purchases of fried rice and chow mein dishes have been bland, salty and tasteless. The chow mein especially needed gravy I hope it improves soon, else I'll be venturing elsewhere for my chinese food.

Birds Nest Chinese take away has been providing outstanding food for my wife and I for over Twenty years. We have tried others around Halifax but always go back to B N.

Last night we ordered from this take away for the first time. We were not disappointed! Beautiful prawn toast, crispy spring rolls, sweet & sour chicken Cantonese style, crispy chilli beef with a side of chips and fried rice. Delicious! The meal was ordered and delivered in 18 minutes and was hot when it arrived. Can’t ask for anything more!

I have been a regular at Birds Nest for as long as I can remember and was shocked to read some of the negative reviews. All I can say is that personally, in all these years, I have never had a poor quality or badly cooked meal. The food is consistently good and I would not hesitate to recommend Birds Nest to anyone... especially the prawn toast!

Just had one of the worst meals delivered to my door poor excuse for a chicken chow mein tasteless watery. No even going to waste my time calling them has I won't be going back

Unidentifiable watery slop was brought to my door, rang to complain but it had closed so rang the next day and I was told the manager would come out, which he did. He looked at the two dishes and I was absolutely amazed he defended the chef , got into a heated argument with him,was given a partial refund and when I said I'd be giving him a bad review he said he would sue me!! Guess I'll see you in court then !!

Ordered chicken chow mein egg fried rice and a beef curry with boiled rice. Beef curry was lovely as usual, its my partners favourite! As for the Chicken chow mein not very impressed again! Half the noodles weren't cooked AGAIN! Didnt enjoy it tbh. Dont think ill be getting it again from there. In the past its been gorgeous but for some reason they dont like to cook all the noodles properly these days! Put me off!!!! Not happy!

First time eating from there and both me and my mum said it's best one we've eaten for a long time, ordered a variety of dishes and all lovely, one thing I will say is we looked at the online prices which seemed to be different to the actual price, maybe need to update the website

First time buying a meal from this takeaway, unfortunately it wasn't good. I had chicken in ok sauce - the sauce was like pure sugar syrup, inedible. The chicken was dried out and there was little in the way of veg. Fried rice very bland. Young man at the counter was very pleasant, other than that no good points sadly.

First time and thought I will try it out wish I never did food went straight into bin no taste chow main very slimy will not be going back and waste of money paid out also prices for food high

Absolutely awful - gave me a very bad stomach. Beef was dry and flakey. Whatever it was it did resemble anything like beef. STEER CLEAR IF YOU VALUE GOOD BOWL MOVEMENTS

Wrote a poor review in November and received a private message from owner with an explanation, as he asked tried again couple of times, just ordered soup & Salt and pepper prawns as starters then chicken and black bean with extra chillies and beef and pepper sauce, delighted to say EXCELLENT! So pleased as always enjoyed more than any other in the town. Seems to be back to its best

Used Birds Nest for 5 years always thoroughly enjoyed despite not being cheapest, however last 3 weeks the salt and pepper prawns are soggy and the meats are certainly not the standard they were, delivery drivers always prompt and courteous but shame the quality of produce and cooking appears to have slipped, if it has changed hands please leave a review because if not we will give another try!!

Been having birds nest since I can remember and my parents even came here on their lunch break from Crossley Heath School. The food is always delicious, portions are great, always hot. The service is good and the staff are friendly. No better Chinese in Halifax hands down.

Come here every time I save enough for a Chinese, love the staff very friendly and always ready in 10 mins, will be moving house but will definitely come back to here to pick up the food it is so good!!!

This is my Chinese Take-away of choice in Halifax. It has been here for as long as I can remember (and I'm pretty old). Everything is consistently good and the prices are amazing. Service is very quick and the staff is very helpful.

Used to be a top takeout but has gone down hill drastically had curry tonight hardly any meat luke warm and toolkit 1hr 45 min to deliver wich is charges for last order was special fried rice and hot pepper sauce got OK sauce instead will be looking for a new chiniese for next time

Sólo he estado allí para recoger mi primera para llevar de ellas, la comida no está mal, tiene un precio muy razonable, pero sí ... celebrar en ... 80 p, por un par de chopstick!! ¿Qué? ¿Cómo se sentirá como si me dan tazón de sopa y no te dan una cuchara! Si se pregunta por él, yo diría que el 80 p de cuchara por favor. Horrible ... Tuve Singapur chowmein alubias y curry, cocinado muy bien pero la saga chopstick rellenos sólo me pinchados por la mitad y a mi mente.

I've always got a takeaway from the Birdsnest delivered to the pub that I drink at and then he always gives me a lift home as he drives past it this happens twice a week and today I got punched by the delivery driver for asking for same service he said £10 extra. It only cost me £2.50 in a taxi to get to the same place I told him this and then he start to punch me in the face for no reason !!! I think he should've sacked !

Processed chicken blended with sugar and a hint of green curry paste and maybe some coconut, but not sure. This was supposed to be a thai green curry . It really was horrible

I would not recommend this place and would never eat here again. The food is terrible, poorly prepared and does not taste fresh. I did not believe that one can get chinese food to taste so wrong.

I have never ordered from birds nest before.The number is now on my speed dial.Meat so tender sauce very tasty without burning ur mouth off best beef in black bean sauce ever.Prawn toast excellent.

I've been eating from Bird's Nest since I was much younger. Now, at 24 years old I still only order from here. I've only ever had one bad experience in the countless times I've ordered, and if you have any problems I'm sure they would be very nice about it. Please consider them if you are ordering out.

A great takeaway that provides good quality food all the time. Some dishes a tad overpriced although not too much of a problem as if it's decent it's worth it!! Obviously not restaurant quality as it's not a restaurant but great for a takeaway. Only slight niggle is they won't ever change a dish on the set meal.

We pass 2 Chinese takeaways to go here. Been going for years, had just about every option on the menu and never been disappointed. Fast and friendly service. King cross can get a bit mad in the evening with cars darting in and out

Consistently good takeaways, good crispy noodle chow mein! Tend to get the special starter for two, have it as a meal and then have the main meal the next day.

After being sick of paying a fortune at Jing Jing we tried Birds Nest. The menu was really interesting with lots of different dishes including Thai dishes. The food came quickly and was really good, the portions were very generous and the price was really reasonable.
