Wow...the food here is off the scale...I can't recall anything similar from any restaurant and we eat out often...the people are so attentive, typical of Asian culture, service is off the cuff and immediate....I can't recommend.mend this place highly enough..well done ZAPP....fantastic..!!!!

Como siempre absolutamente increíble. El personal es muy amable y servicial. La comida es absolutamente deliciosa. Mi visita es el Gaeng Kiew Wan que es bastante picante pero sabe increíble, con arroz pegajoso. Hemos estado en este restaurante un par de veces y el servicio y la comida es siempre de primera categoría. Los cócteles también son brillantes, pero ten cuidado que son fuertes, pero muy sabrosos.

There is a variety of food on the menu. The taste is definitely right for Thai people.

Great lunch deal here at Zaap! 2 courses for £12 is such a bargain. The starters were okay, tasty enough. The main were delicious, particularly the Massaman Curry. You still get a decent main portion as part of the deal.

Wow what a find. Was in York today and saw lunch 2 for £12. Can't believe the quality of food for the price. Pad thai was lovely. I left feeling stuffed but wanted more 😋 Young gentleman who served us was SO friendly and helpful. Me and my partner will definitely be back.

Primera visita, no quería mucho para comer, pero pensé que había algo para todos aquí. Elegí una sopa 27 a! Que parecía bastante sencillo, pero sin duda tuvo una patada de calentamiento. Muy bonito. Siguiendo elegí 18! Gamba y cerdo dim sum. También muy sabroso. Toda la comida que salía parecía muy sabrosa. No es un lugar elegante, pero buena relación calidad-precio y servicio.

This will always be my favourite place for food in York, we went many many times when we lived there and never had a bad experience. Great food, atmosphere, tons of menu options, loads of options for vegetarians and vegans. Can't fault it

Delicious Valuable Just need more staff for peak hours

We called in as we were passing today and had lunch. There were 5 of us with 2 little ones and the staff and food was amazing. We had the set lunches and kids menus. All brilliant. Thank you so much.

Different restaurant, new taste

Good restaurant with good service. They have toilets upstairs which needs improving. Rest is fine. Food is great but prices quite high . When I came back home I had rozwolnienie. Maybe I ate too much. Don't know.

Shocking display of customer service. Myself, wife, mother in law and newborn baby visited this restaurant on 21st January. When we arrived they pointed at the table right next to the door and said that’s the only table available. There was literally three other occupied tables and the rest of the place was empty. I asked to sit at the back due to have a newborn baby, didn’t want to be sat next to the door or a 4 degree day. Was told that was the only table available. When I questioned at end of meal they told it’s what the manager wants. Maybe the team and manager want to learn some customer service and consideration for each individual customer. Newborn baby next to the door?

I love it here. Hot, tasty food and good portions. Staff are also very willing to make food in specific ways.

Lovely ambience and good service, however my Husband has Bangkok Platter for £16, which i think is very overpriced it only had 2pcs of little chicken satay in skewers, 2pcs spring rolls,2pcs siomai or mini dumplings, 2pcs thinly slices of they called bangkok sausage and prawn crackers, all was in small portion. We werent satisfied about it. I had rice noodles with slices of duck whic is nice .

Absolutely fantastic food and service. Reasonbly priced, great vegetarian options, will visit again when next in York.

Wow wow wow… Thai food here is spectacular, I have been going to Thailand for over 30 years and this is as authentic as it gets, indistinguishable from food in Bangkok. Be brave and order things you might not be used to, I would definitely recommend- Namtok Pork is spicy and amazing, Crispy Pork Belly and Morning Glory is incredibly delicious and moreish, Crispy Deep Fried Whole Sea Bass is mind blowing good. Wish I could go back again tomorrow

Ordered a mixed platter and ribs for starters. The food tasted like it had been warmed up in the microwave. Declined to eat anything else as when I asked if the food is freshly prepared before I was going to order my main course it appeared the waiters answer did not instill confidence so paid and left. I have had thai food before and thai street food is cooked fresh to order.

Says it's open until 10 pm, but put up a sign saying it's closed when we arrived at 8.

Beautiful decor inside, totally like the lovely country of Thailand🇹🇭 Our waitress she was lovely, and commented on my very basic Thai. The food was exactly like it should be, same as it is when bought from a street food vender in Siam. Actually the best authentic Thai food I’ve eaten outside Thailand. Our party of 6, 4 had I main course, but me… no! I had a soup, main course and 2 sweets, all were superb…..Korb Kun Krub🙏

I've eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and ordered a takeout for delivery a couple of times and every dish is really great. It's my favourite restaurant for Thai food in York. Their Som Tum, Pad Thai and other dishes are just the best I've tasted outside of Thailand.

Watchout to what you order, the menu has over 100 dishes and unfortunately after a few satisfying meals all my family and I had food poisoning, its a shame as the ambience is good, but the freshness of food over the last 2 times was impacted, to the point of suffering days of food poisoning. Staff doesn't wear gloves and hygiene looked extremely poor when handling food.

Zapp is a stand-out place to eat! The food was unreal, the service was top-notch and the atmosphere was 10/10! If you want an unforgettable and fun place to eat, I recommend Zapp without a doubt!

The best thai restaurant in the UK so far. Everything here is so perfect!! I had the slow cooked pork leg and I would say it’s authentic, the chilli sauce is so zaap!! The staff are also nice and friendly! I cant wait to come back here. I only wish they have a location in London!!!

I had ordered take away via Deliveroo som tam plara I asked for very very spicy on the app and is came no chilli I have to put chilli powder in but disappointing because should not be chilli powder should be fresh chill 🥲 I’m decided to bin it

I would visit again, however, I wouldn't want to be seated on the side where tables are closer together again, as other eaters did drown out conversations. Zaap has great service 😊 I had two vegan dishes, the corn cakes were perfect, the tofu was okay.

I've been for years and will keep going back until either I die or they are discontinued. It's beautiful, the staff, the food, the chefs, the atmosphere. This is honest to god my recommendation to anyone who asks, what's the best place to eat in York. Absolutely otherworldly, like being in your own movie eating that good ass food for the first time, like colour is brought back to reality.

Love this place, has reasonable price & good menu deal, was made aware of allergies & dealt well with this. Recommend what could be ordered.

Can’t knock the food or flavours as such, really tasty authentic Thai food. However there was a deal on when we went, 2 courses and a drink for £15 on selected items. We chose corn fritters and a curry with tofu from this menu. When these items arrived we were surprised to find we only had 2 corn fritters (menu states 4) and the curry had only 4 very small pieces of tofu and very little veg etc in there either. When we politely asked about this with the staff they tried to say that oh the ‘deal’ you get less, however nothing is mentioned on there about a smaller portion size. The guy went and checked the deal menu then never got back to us as he clearly realised he was in the wrong. It isn’t a ‘deal’ at all as you’re essentially getting a child’s portion. We mentioned it to another member of staff who was very apologetic but did nothing about it all. Left irritated and still hungry.

Como solemos hacer es una entrega al hotel para que podamos disfrutar en la habitación. Zaap no decepcionó, comida increíble y porciones generosas! ¡Luchó para terminarlo! Comí alitas de pollo crujientes para empezar seguido de un plato de panza de cerdo picante con arroz jazmín. Ambos platos eran encantadores y frescos, y muy sabroso. La comida tailandesa más auténtica que he probado fuera de Tailandia.

Qué decepción, la comida no era de buena calidad, grasa y demasiados fideos con poca verdura. El servicio era bueno pero lento. Seguro que no volveremos, hay mejores restaurantes tailandeses en York.

The coconut milk soup is delicious, the mango rice and fried noodles are delicious, and the water spinach and tofu are also delicious. The fish eggs were okay, the chicken wings were too soft, and the fish cakes were a bit fishy. The service was okay, but I was not very satisfied with the fact that when I asked a waitress what one of the dishes was when I asked the waitress what one of the dishes was, she turned around and left without saying a word, but everything else was good.

Almorcé en este restaurante tailandés y la comida era fantástica! Cada plato era sabroso y auténtico, capturando realmente la esencia de la cocina tailandesa. Pero lo más destacado fue el postre, ¡absolutamente fenomenal! Fue el final dulce perfecto para una comida ya increíble. Me encantó toda la experiencia y sin duda volveré por más. Muy recomendable!

Bubble tea was not good , no sweetness , I’m guessing just power and water mixture/ not very Thai

I liked that the food came out quickly and the price was cheaper than other stores.

Food here was lovely. Great atmosphere inside and the staff were prompt at taking orders and very knowledgeable.

The food was okay. But there’s an added 10% service charge that we were forced to pay even though it said optional on the bill. We were supposed to be given prawn crackers but the waiter who served us didn’t give us any. All the other tables had it except us. Very expensive for the food quality standards. Atmosphere is very nice. Overall, a one time experience as we felt cheated because we had to pay the 10% service charge despite being offered substandard service.

Update: spoke with owner and impressed with his response which gives me confidence to try restaurant again. “Sadly a very poorly constructed summer special of prawns in a broth. V poor cookery, far too much acidity and salt. Broth practically inedible. Pad Thai alright but nothing special. Friendly staff. Could not complain properly at time as I was a guest.”

Bonus night out as a couple, as Joffrey is enjoying a sleepover. A nice couple of sherbets in The House of Trembling Madness, sat at the front, enhanced by spotting some good friends on Lendall and pulling in them in for a drink. We had already made up our minds to try Zaap Thai as we have passed by so many times. Wow what a great decision! Vibrant , fragrant and energetic atmosphere, phenomenal and informed waiting crew. We shared delightful chicken skewers (and a bottle of wine) before enjoying a sizzling platter of seafood and veg, with lovely sticky jasmine rice. The gaffer enjoyed a slow cooked pork dish, as didI when she capitulated, but not as nice as mine. No room for dessert and resisted the urge for a pudding cocktail course, this time. Well done guys, fantastic! .

The staffs are friendly and the atmosphere is great. But the food can be a bit inconsistent. I was especially disappointed with the sticky rice fried chicken. The chicken and the batter seemed like they were from two different worlds. Fried chicken with sticky rice is a popular street food in Thailand. I recommend reviewing the fried chicken recipe. Phat ka pho was just ok , but I believe it lacked a certain element. The pork in the grilled pork salad was supposed to be thinly sliced and tender, but it was cut too thick to enjoy properly. I hope things improve in the future, just like the branch in Leeds.

Myself and my wife decided to visit on a wim. What a great experience staff were friendly and helpful food was tasty and great. Didn't realise it was part of a chain seemed like an authentic Thai experience. Will be going back next time we see one.

Starts come fine had to ask about mains after 20 minutes , some non descript food was put on our table , asked for bill which was £43 gave the waiter £50 and he didn't return with the change asked for an English speaker who produced a bill for £49 refused to pay for that ,settled on £40 ,zaap used to be a favourite but no more, Indian next time

Really nice atmosphere. Food 50/50: just okay—nothing special, but not terrible either. Unfortunately, the meals were served separately, so I had to wait for my partner’s dish to arrive to avoid eating alone. That was quite disappointing. Tea served not in a good way. It was sweetened, likely made with granulated! tea and tap water, and served only lukewarm. As someone who can’t use sugar, this was especially unpleasant. The experience was far from memorable.
