My first Wagamama experience was when I visited the Harrogate branch a couple of years ago, when I left feeling very underwhelmed. Fast forward a couple of years and we were in York, all hungry, and walking past Wagamama, so my wife and son suggested we go in for dinner. This was a million miles away from my first experience: great service and amazing food - the best I've had in ages. We shared roti + raisukatsu and I had silken tofu gochujang rice bowl for my main course. The food was simply amazing, so fresh and incredibly tasty. I'm now a Wagamama convert...

Great food but had the rudest interaction with Mike on the phone. I always order chilli chicken ramen from deliveroo and call to remove beansprouts which is done every time, however, I talked to Mike today and he did not listen to me, asked me to stop talking as I was explaining the issue and then hung up on me, with no confirmation whether the beansprouts were removed or not. The order came with beansprouts.

A unique and unforgettable experience.!

First ever visit to Wagamama and boy, I was impressed. Thanks to Jasmine Trinity for her amazing service, she helped us from start to finish and was a joy. Great asset to the company.

As a loyal customer of wagamama all over the country, this time in York I was so disappointed with the quality of the service we got. Service was alright and it was a good start when food arrived in less than 10min of ordering. But it went downhill from the point we tasted the food... First of all the food was overly salty, to the point that we had to leave some of the food on a plate because of that reason. Secondly, as a person who is not keen on meat I ordered a salad bowl with pulled shiitake mushrooms, which was mixed with other mushrooms underneath and the flavour profiles didn't match between the bits for supposed shiitake mushrooms. My partner had a beef brisket rice bowl which was so salty that it was impossible to eat, even plain rice didn't help to balance the taste. Overall, a highly disappointing visit this time, food was the worst i ever had from any wagamama restaurants i ever been to... I really hope that this place will improve, to the same standard as the other locations.

Food is good, well prepared, healthy and tasty. However they have a system and a process and if you are new to their system it is a tad disconcerting. Lots of staff but had to ask three times for glasses of water!

Was a really great wagamama’s and the food was really delicious and fresh! Our server Mike was really kind and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed- especially as i’m gluten free :)

1st Nov 24, Party of 6 showed to our table by staff, close to the toilets and was aware of smell of drains .. ordering from the menu was poor as there was item shortage.. on visiting the toilets saw toilet bowls backed up with sewage hence the smell,.. reported to manager who said they were aware of the drainage issues ongoing fro August

Terrible service, left to sit and wait for 45mins with no update on why the food was taking so long!

The food is everything here. It's really, very good. Unlike the service and the canteen like atmosphere, which are both lacking. There are better places to eat, but it's reliable and tasty, if expensive.

Absolutely amazing service staff were fast efficient friendly and an asset to the company!

We do not recommend this restaurant as we had an aweful experience. Urinals out of order. Toilets not flushing. Starters and mains served at same time. Unable to validate voucher..therefore charging us twice

Typically efficient service at this Wagamama. Sat down instantly, beer and noodles out within 10 mins of ordering. Great service too, very friendly and explained everything clearly. I can’t remember the name of my waitress but my order ID was 8980

Left no table number, so could not pay via the QR code. Paid via the counter and had a physical receipt in hand. Had to be stopped whilst walking out to check that I've actually paid. This is not a welcoming environment, and would not recomend this place to anyone.

Cool big space with a diverse menu but the food is awful. Ramen came out with a tiny bit of soup, overcooked noodles, and lukewarm at best. The curry is also lacking in flavour and the rice is overcooked. The best way I can describe the food is that it’s perfect for those that are not familiar with Asian cuisine.

I travel a lot for work and as a Wagamama fan I’ve eaten in a lot of of them around the UK. But the York city centre Wagamama is the best one I’ve been to. Yes, it’s a chain Restuarant, but they can vary quite a bit. The food here is PARTICULARLY good and the seating in the front windows is a great place for 1 or 2 people to sit and watch the buzzy world go by from. It’s very comfortable for single people dining alone. And like everybody in York, the waiting staff here are super friendly and engaging. Highly recommended.

Wagamama is one of those multiples that always seems to be consistent whenever I eat there. From the friendly welcoming service, to the freshly cooked foods arriving to the table quickly, never a disappointment, though portions may have shrunk a little or my eyes got bigger! For a high street outlet value is always a little contentious, but on the basis of a a quality meal in a nice location cannot complain. Update. Returned once again. Excellent throughout.

Today I was served by Max—huge cheers to you! Thanks for the amazing service. I ordered the Chilli Chicken, and Max recommended a side of crispy chilli mushrooms, which was an absolute banger! This was my first time at Wagamama, and I’ve always wanted to try their ramen. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the service was top-notch. Definitely a great experience overall!

I had the duck bao buns which may have contained traces of duck, there was little filling in there and so were disappointing. My friend had the shiok chicken and said it lacked flavour. I usually love Wagamama but this experience was disappointing.

Had dinner with my partner before heading back to Glasgow, and the waiters were lovely with such bubbly personalities. The meals were great, and we even tried some new items from the menu. The next day, we realized my partner had left their work phone on the table. The staff were amazing, handling the situation quickly and sending the phone through to Glasgow. We really appreciated how helpful they were and will definitely be back next time we're in York. Thank you so much!

Having had a couple of disappointing dining experiences on a recent trip to York; despite visiting restaurants that had impressed on previous occasions, we decided to eat at Waga. The food is of a consistent standard so we knew what we'd be getting. Wagamama in York is a firm favourite. The food here is excellent (on this occasion we had Duck Gyoza's, Terriyaki Salmon and Beef Hotpot with veggies on the side) but the service is first class and this is what rather sets it apart from some others. Love Waga York!

Had a nice meal with my son, one of the servers jasmine, I asked for her name as I left so I could write this review, she was very positive, with a lovely smile, loved how she engage with me and my son. I'm not one to write reviews, so was impressed.

In my two weeks in York, I ate at Wagamama more times than anywhere else. It was that good! It was the perfect place to sit and chat with friends, and enjoy an evening of excellent food! The food was fast, fresh, light and unbelievably tasty. The Asian menu was quite varied, with soups and curries and excellent broths. Wow!

Tina was amazing such good recommendation

Wonderful experience, went there with my partner for lunch and had Tina as our server, she was brilliant, extremely patient and smiling, good humoured too. Had a minor issue with the tofu hotpot when there was no tteobokki, however Tina quickly sorted this and whilst he didn't need to Dan, the chef delivered it back to our table in very good time. Seems to be two very good members of staff, definitely lucky to have had their service. All round very good time and will definitely be coming again.

The usual wagamama food, piping hot. However, the service was rather poor. 4 different people came to our table and getting the bill was a 10 minute game of trying to catch someone's attention.

Half through until my wife's came

Placed our order with the waiter and then waited, and waited, and waited. We watched tables around us order after us and get their food and drinks where we sat with an empty table. After 30 minutes we asked our waiter what was happening, where he disappeared for a few minutes, came back and said that the order hadn’t gone to the kitchen. No real apology, just the suggestion that we needed to order again. We asked to see the manager but surprise surprise the manager didn’t arrive at the table either. Eventually just walked out.

Food was great. Perfect dinner for 4!

Wagamama in York is truly a fantastic restaurant. The food is delicious, the space is large and comfortable, and every staff member is friendly and welcoming. I especially recommend Chris, who provided excellent service!

The food is absolutely amazing along with the service, very friendly and welcoming. One thing however is that it is somewhat dirty, with trash laying around and dirty cutlery left on the table.

Staff were very friendly and knowledgable. Service was good and food was great. Most importantly they are open until 11pm when vast majority of other restaurants in the area close at 10pm.

Wagamamas is for sure my favourite chain restaurant and its always lovely to have a walk around harrogate before coming here for lunch!

The food was lovely. We tried some new items on the menu which we thoroughly enjoyed. Excellent vegan options. Service was swift and friendly.

We were served by Jasmine with her huge smile and electric energy she made us feel extremely welcome, her knowledge of the cuisine, (especially tea eggs) was nothing short of amazing. Her and my old uni Pal (who usually resides in China) really kicked it off over the Eggs. She offered me some very user friendly chopsticks too, which were way better than the real thing. If I could make one criticism, her drink suggestion wasn't so great, but I appreciate her enthusiasm never the less. Thank you Jasmine!

Again great service from restaurants "Oop north" , the chap who dealt with us was friendly and helpful and the food was as usual very tasty! Recommend this Wagamama (yes I'm a "southerner" from Bournemouth but we've dined at a Pizza Express in Nottingham and this Wagamama in York, both times impressed by the friendly staff!)

The food quality of this location is so good comparing with the other locations. I really like most the vegan dishes of this restaurant . My dish this time was “Kare burosu ramen without tofu “.

MISO CARAMEL ICE CREAM TASTES LIKE CARAMEL FLAVOURED CARDBOARD BUT IN A VERY PLEASANT WAY :) WOULD RECOMMEND

Beautiful place and great food. Not used to this fine cuisine, it was a treat. I had a seared tataki. I found my katsu banana a bit dry and needed more caramel sauce, so I hawk tuah on that thing.

At first the service was wonderful until I had an issue with my meal. When I complained my duck that was deep fried to the point of shoe leather I was signposted by a blond member of staff she would raise my issue and return. She never did come back to my table. For a £50 meal I was left in utter disappointment barely eating my meal or side if gyoza, everything was fatty oily, overcooked and entirely unpalatable. And not recommended at all.

It’s not Chinese food, it’s not Korean food, it’s not Japanese food, and it doesn’t even count as Thai food. The food is the taste of the food, and the noodles are the taste of the noodles.

Brilliant, friendly service, really fast and the food was excellent

One of the best restaurants that I ever visited, food was so delicious and tasty, we ordered prawns and chicken pad Thai and teriyaki soba , we both enjoyed and the waitress helped us to pay the bill by card instead of paying online which was a little confusing for us. 😊😊😊 definitely we go again.

Ate here about 6 years. Liked it then. so a revisit. We don't have this chain in our home city. I seems to be mainly a you persons place. We were two oldies. But staff were delightful. Holly & Max. Food good. Drinks too. Atmosphere fairly good. But personally I and she doesn't lke loud music. didn't like the 'very modern' music. It wasn't TOO loud. I did get used to it. It didn't bother my partner. Lovely surprise at the end. Holly came back with a ticket which gives us £15.00 off our next Wagamama meal. She said it was because we had been lovely customers. More like, take pity on the 'oldies'... 😄😄😄 I did explain we didn't have one near our home city. But it's valid for a few months, so we have a few places we might still visit in 2024, and so may be able to use it.

Considering this is a chain, the food is absolutely the best and very very tasty veggie or vegan options. We are going to try recreate your dishes back home in the US, an absolute must visit

Always go in for my takeaway order and Ellie has been my server multiple times. i usually wait outside so i can have a smoke while waiting and bring me my order out always fantastic service and knows my order when she sees me. Always going back.

Great location - quiet street nesr the Minster. Very friendly service - with usual great, fresh tasting food.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. However, there is a waiting time for food and drink like in a restaurant and an ambience of a fast food shop. My ramen was ok, didn't blow me away. The noodles were way too al dente. Plus, real noodles are different.🧐

As I walked in the restaurant staff were quick to notice me and let me know they will be with me. Two members of staff said they would seat me. A female member of staff called Tina promptly seated me and asked me about allergies on two occasions before eating food. She was polite and ensured I ordered exactly what I wanted. Food was hot and tasted amazing. Paying for the food online was easy to do and Tina was helpful with this also. All staff seem happy and always look proactive. Service was very quick also. Highly recommend.

We absolutely love Wagamamas. It's a fantastic (chain) restaurant, amazing fresh food with clean, lightly lit seating. However, we were tourists visiting York and the staff made us feel so so welcoming. They gave us advice about where to go during our stay and where to go to achieve what we wished. Genuinely exceptional staffing and food in an already fantastic restaurant.

Visited with a friend a few weeks ago and had a great experience. The manager was so knowledgeable and accommodating of multiple tricky dietary restrictions. Our server Jasmine was amazing too, so kind, attentive and made our evening! We would both visit again.

First post pandemic shopping trip to York. Needed lunch and luckily the first restaurant we visited was full. Then we remembered Wagamama. A well organised queue saw us seated in 5 minutes in what for us was a new layout. Staff so professional. Both my wife and I were about to order our old favourites when we both had a change if mind. My wife went fir the mackerel and I went for chicken, garlic and ginger, rice dish. We were both delighted with our choices. Great service, clean, bright environment and healthy, tasty food . Wonderful!

This specific Wagamama location needs to improve. Waitress was very curt and was very eager for us to finish as quickly as possible despite the restaurant still being away from close 1.5 hours. Food was alright however have mad much tastier dishes at other locations.

Visited last night: beef ramen basket was tasteless and the staff didn't even bother to check on me during the meal (I thought it was Wagamama policy to do it). Restaurant wasn't clean properly. Bad experience overall.

My daughter chose Waggamamas and specifically the York City Centre location as oppose to the York Designer restaurant to celebrate her 15th birthday. There were 6 of us. We made the trip in from Elvington. On entering we explained it was her 15th birthday and could we have a good table - the restaurant was not busy at all - we were given a table that had split benches and chairs, as you come into the main dinning hall. We weren’t given any drinks menus but were asked what we wanted to drink. Every time the front door opened for all the delivery people it send cold air (-2) down the corridor onto our table. We also had to endure being starred at by the deliver individuals through the whole meal, to the point where my young children said it was making them feel uncomfortable as did my husband who was facing them. The my mum put chilly oil on her meal and the lid came off and it opened all over her food, when she told the waitress they didn’t even ask if the food was still ok given it was drenched in oil. We also asked for the fruit smoothly to be shared in 2 glasses like we always do and they didn’t do this but brought 2 glasses for us to do it ourselves. Also sadly the main point of the trip was the children love the mini ramen, but the noodles disintegrated when eaten because they were over cooked and the chicken was tough, it was really really disappointing from start to finish and as we always come to Waggamama’s for special occasions it really let us down. My mum and husband really enjoyed their food but I couldn’t relax given all the mistakes and issues throughout the meal. Really wish we had gone somewhere else now as we never eat out and it was suppose to be a treat. You really need to sort the deliver drivers out because you can’t carry on the way you are doing it as it’s so disruptive to those that have bothered to get out and visit your restaurant.

We went in after a couple which as expected we were to be seated after them, however when they were seated another couple came in behind us and we were ignored, the host made eye contact with us and walked straight passed us then proceeded to go and seat them. Then when we were finally acknowledged and told to go wait outside and form a cue behind another group of people, this host was incredibly rude to us and left us standing there. By that time we'd been waiting for 15 mins, he proceeded to come back outside and try seat the group who were put infornt of us however they told him that we were first and had been waiting for longer, so THEN he finally seated us (still being rude when seating us). We were then put in the smallest corner of the restaurant no arm movement available and up against a brick wall. I would not recommend going as it may lead to a VERY unpleasant experience.

Service was good but the food tasted like dishwater in a pot noodles with a bit of basil thrown in and overpriced in my opinion.

A strange title to a review, so I'd better qualify it immediately before anybody gets the wrong idea... especially Jack! I'm a man of the World. No, really I am. I've been to Barnsley, Bridlington and travelled extensively through Asia tasting the finest of Aisian cuisine. But I'd never been to a Wagama restaurant. There, I've said it. I knew the W name, had looked through the window to see what appeared to be a rather clinical environment and simply dismissed the chance to enter. But given a £50 voucher as a present and being an extremely tight Yorkshireman there was no choice. I had to go, especially as there was only a few days before the money evaporated from my plastic card. So with a deep breath we entered the World of Wagamamas. Nervous, palms sweaty, wondering what happened next. But fear not. Step forward Jack and suddenly concerns melted away as we were shown to an American style booth for 4. A really interesting menu had me drooling. Teppanyaki, Ramen, Donburi and Itame to name but a few starters and mains. A truly great Aisian fusion with a definte Japanese twist. Jack explained how things worked, that starters and mains would arrive when freshly prepared and ready. I opted for various sharing starters and A Firecracker main served with chicken. Tasty or what and very very hot! A fruit blend of lime orange and lemon was a departure from my usual gin and tonic or glass of Sav'. But it seemed and was the right thing to drink. A superb meal. But it would be really amiss of me not to big up our waiter Jack. This guy will go far in hospitality. Take it from a 40 year career veteran. He pitched his service offering just right depending whether he was talking to fat old boys like me who were new to the Wagamama experience or young diners who knew how it all worked. He was good, no very good and something I had to share with the manager who despite coming from Surrey was a really nice guy. So I'm no longer a Wagamam Virgin. And based on this truly wonderful experience I'll be back, voucher or not. Thanks Jack.
