Alishaan in York

Thankyou for a fantastic meal really enjoyed our food , took a long time to come but they did phone me within 5 mins of ordering to explain it would be a long wait as we live quite far from them , I agreed to wait and it was worth it 👌 delicious

I absolutely adore Alishaan as it stands. Great prices, main curry dishes coming WITH naan or rice. That's £8.50 (reasonable main price) with the side for free. Then the sundries are all reasonably priced too, ranging from 50p - ~£3. Food is great quality too, nothing bad to say about it. Adore their Puri and Naan. Will continue to eat here for a while!

My favourite local Indian Takeaway. When moving to the area we tried a good selection but we found Alishaan to have the best quality at a reasonable price.

Very tasty Chana masala, the korma was a little bland but overall good for the price and close to houses so a good local for people!

I've been coming here for a number of years now, so can comfortably say this is the best Indian takeaway in York. Of note, they will tweak a dish to your personal preference - so for me I have the Bengal Taste madras hot - which is perfect. I always pick up on a Mon night & the staff are friendly too.

We were from Pakistan and were looking for some traditional food and by luck we found "Alishan". The taste of afghani lamb is really nice and the best thing is it's very cheap compared to other traditional foods in York. Thanks

Get indian from here all the time, very gutted to find my pickle tray was frozen....... when did happen.

Was recommended here by a friend. I’m utterly disappointed with the meal, the sauce was extremely watery and tasteless. The meats in the curry were nice but the curry sauce was disappointing. Delivery also took a very long time and the food wasn’t particularly ‘hot’ when it arrived. Unfortunately, we won’t be ordering from here again.

I’ve been a regular customer for several years and love the Dopiaza and Special Tandoori Chicken curry. The rice is also fantastic and great portions too. Friendly service and reasonably priced.

1st time we have tried from here as not from this area. Found it on Google maps and ordered. It came b4 they said it would, so, 10 out of 10. Food was steaming and absolutely delicious so 10 out of 10 again. Will use these again.

Ordered a takeaway tonight and I felt I must add this review. The food was absolutely delicious, still hot when it arrived and tasted every bit as good as it has done in the past when we have visited the takeaway. Great value for money and the staff, including the delivery man, were really friendly. Would recommend it to anyone.

Do you like your takeaway food raw? Do you enjoy food poisoning? ....Then this is the place for you. Raw shami kebab, totally unacceptable and dangerous. Rest of the 'meal' went it in the bin.

ordered takeaway, set meal for 2, came quicker than expected and the food was mega - they even changed one of the curries for us. samosas are huge too

We've been ordering here for years. The food is always excellent, piping hot and good portions. Restaurant quality but in your own home. The only downside is that the delivery time is always about an hour and a half, so collect if you can.

I’ve always struggled to find a good Indian takeaway in York, but my god this place is the best by far. Generous portions, full of taste and very filling.

Another great tasty meal from Alishaan. A slight hiccup on delivery but sorted out quickly. Food hot, tasty and generous portions. York's number 1 in my book.

This place never fails to deliver both in quality of the food and in customer service. I have lived in Leeds for a number of years now and only visit York occasionally but the staff never fail to remember me and my family. Lovely people and top class food

I’ve used this place many times and always had to wait sometime for delivery which I don’t mind as the quality of food is good. However I don’t like the service, I have placed an order today on their website only for them to call me straight back and cancel it. I appreciate times are difficult with Covid-19 at the moment but why they let people place orders on their website if they are about to close is beyond me. Also 2 out of the last 3 deliveries things have been missing from the order (pre-lockdown) which they said they would make up for on the next order. Approach with caution!

Our usual curry house is unsurprisingly closed during this pandemic but we found this place was open. My dad has also heard great reports. Wow! Fantastic food, great flavours, pre-ordered for a doorstep delivery for 19:40 and it arrived on time, to the minute! Incredible. Only marked down slightly because the cheese naan ordered wasn’t received. Highly recommend.

Last time I ordered from alishann it was not edible just could not eat it ( i cant say what it looked like but it ooked like --- sick) so it just could not eat it plus a layer of grease was over it . I have to say over the years it's always been very good so I don't know what has happened there. It's very hard to find a good quality take away these days . If someone finds a good one please let me know. I'd love to take a eveni g off cooking.

Staff rude on the phone, very abrupt and impatient telephone manner. Curry very watery and not much of it. Won't be ordering from here again.

I order every weekend from Alisaan, wouldn't go anywhere else as the food is always high quality piping hot , the quality ingredients they use are consistent, so excellent food every week. Keep up the quality and we'll keep ordering ...

We usually go to Chenab on Hull Road however the last few times it hasn't been it's usual standard hence why we chose to order from Alishaan after hearing good reviews. I would rather have had Chenab on a bad day. The chicken was dry, the sauce taste of nothing and was very watery and as for the "keema" naan, it may as well of been plain. I certainly will not be returning!

I absolutely love alishaan currys! They have never disappointed me with their food! But I wish I could leave 2 separate reviews, because I'd give 5 stars for their food and 1 star for the length of time they take to deliver! Nearly 2 hours to wait! So if you really want their delicious curries, order HOURS in advance! I'm so hungry!! :(

5 stars all around from me. We've ordered from here a few times and never been disappointed. I admit, I like to shop around and taste new foods from different Indian restaurants but tonight I made a real mistake. My wife ordered from an Indian takeaway in Heworth, it arrived a bit "too fast" if you get me? It was so runny you could put it through a sieve. It was luke-warm and quite honestly was a very poor example of how a Korma should look. I wouldn't serve what was displayed to an inmate at a prison quite honestly. So....... my wife quickly jumped back onto Just Eat and we placed the same order (Rogan Josh, Korma and a few extras) - taste was good. The Korma was thick and had a good taste. Guy behind the counter was friendly. Lesson learned - stick with what you know. (only bad points - naan bread could be a bit more fuller and larger, but still tastes good)

Ordered a curry for my friend described as 'very mild' because she has low spice tolerance. It was too spicy for her so I ate it, I bit into a huge chilli and had to drink alot of milk and yoghurt to try calm my mouth, the heat still wouldn't go away and I ended up being sick. Called to complain about the mismatch on description and the food and was greeted by a very rude man on the phone who told me he 'didn't care'

This takeaway is consistently excellent. It has a huge range of dishes to suit everyone’s tastes. Mixed starters are excellent value for money.

Lovely food. But last two times I had been I had to wait a long time from ordering at the Indian and waiting for it.

This was the first time we've ordered a curry from here. We were told it was good but it exceeded our expectations. Great curry, delivered on time and was still very hot after delivery. Will be using again.

Best Indian takeaway in York. Food is delicious. I just suggest that people ring to check on times as they do get very busy and sometimes the wait is over an hour.

Second time we ordered from Alishaan for a family meal, we got a menu for 4 and 1 veggie option and 2 side dishes. There was a lot of food and everything was very very good, better than at York restaurants and at a fraction of the the price, especially noteworthy are their veggie dishes, using fresh and uncommon veggies

Decent curry, prompt friendly service. Not pushing the boundaries of South Asian cuisine, but at this price who is?

started using alishan about a year ago and have not had a bad one yet it may take some time so order in advance but great food at a good price.

Took just under two hours for a meal for one to be delivered... When it eventually arrived the meal was wrong. Very disappointing!!!

We order from alishaan all the time, and sometimes its the best indian food we've ever tasted...and then other times it isn't fit for a dog!! We are sure there is a great chef that works 1 week off 1 week on, and the times he isn't there, they let the potwasher loose! As it is swimming in grease and has no flavour, and therefore inedible! They need to keep the potwasher at the sink..not preparing dishes..otherwise they will definately loose us as customers, however if they keep the great chef then we will rush back!!
