Yorks Cafe in Stratford-on-Avon

Ordered a flat white, with moroccan avocado toast. My daughter ordered a caramel iced latte and had poached eggs on sourdough toast with extra avocado. Coffee is always good here, and the Moroccan avocado toast was new to me and spicy with lots of warm herbs and spices. Staff are friendly and the food is good. It’s a warm and friendly atmosphere which we enjoy. I recommend if you go along, definitely have the eggs (they do supply ketchup if you need it!) and the coffees are great.

I visited Yorks on Thursday lunchtime with my Granny. We were served by a lovely girl, she could not have been more helpful and polite. She really made our experience enjoyable, as well as the food and coffee being lovely too! Unfortunately we didn't catch her name. We will definitely be back when we're next in Stratford and would recommend to friends, and hope she'd be there to serve us :).

My husband and I stopped for a cold drink in this café yesterday. We both ordered a chocolate smoothie type drink. I was absolutely gob smacked when it came out 3/4 full with what can only be described as watery cold chocolate. Most of the glass was full of the largest piece of ice I had ever seen which took up most of the glass. What drink there was in the glass was absolutely watery tasteless and powdery. I did mention this to the lady at the counter when I paid the bill, her response to that was “ Sorry about that” clearly no care about what I had told her at all. I would not have wanted to pay £1 for this drink, let alone £4.50 each. This was my husband‘s first experience of a drink of this type and he said it was nothing special at all, and he would never have another one or even go back to this establishment when visiting the area again. The table where we sat outside did not stand straight and what little drink I did have in my overflowing glass of ice, was spilt anyway. I am really annoyed that we spent almost £10 on what was essentially two glasses of watery ice. Shocking!

Having stopped for a coffee and a cake, we watched the staff remove the cakes from the window, yet when we wanted to order cakes we were told there weren't any as they "were replenishing for tomorrow". The cakes were in front of us, yet they refused to sell them to us. I won't be coming back.

Friday morning and terrible service - 30 minutes just to get a coffee - ordered the full breakfast and it took 40 minutes and was one of the worst breakfast I have had in a long time . I live in Stratford and will never go there again . Full of tourists who don’t know any better

No chocolate on the cappuccino and when we queried we were told 'We don't do chocolate on our cappuccino'. Is this a bit odd or is this just me ? And frothy enough on top but so black and bitter underneath two of the three of us (who don't normally take sugar) had to ask for sugar to try to make it palatable (which didn't work). Such a tiny cup as well. So overall a thumbs down. And the toilet out of order; we were directed to public toilets nearby.

Visited late in the day. Not many cakes left and we were told ‘we only have what’s left in window’. At almost £16 for 2 coffees and 2 cakes we did expect a little more. The cake was dry and stale and I was told it was meant to be like that. As someone who bakes, I certainly wouldn’t give someone cake that dry. We decided not to visit again the next day. We don’t recommend this cafe

Breakfasts are both delicious and imaginative. I know we all have different tastes but if you are looking for something different with great flavours and service then try Yorks Cafe. I wish there was a branch in Chester.

Just wonderful. Gorgeous food, friendly service, definitely can’t fault it. Some really interesting and unique menu choices that are absolutely delicious. Been twice this month already and I’ll be back soon!

Popped in for a coffee and cake with the wife today . First time users and found the staff helpful served us without fuss . As it’s in the main shopping area expected a little more on the inside decor , while functional , the chairs look like they are a throwback to school ones I sat on . Will give it another try when in the area again and see if it grows on us.

The staff here are very friendly and I have eaten some really good food, but the coffee is so disappointingly cold, even if you ask nicely for them to make it hot. I really love the taste of their coffee so I occasionally pop back in, but unfortunately it's too expensive to keep receiving cold drinks. It's a shame really!

Been here before and their BHX location, so had expectations. (Imo BHX better) In Sleepy Stratford, this location tends to be busy first thing when they open on weekend mornings at 8:30. Get there early or opt to wait/sit outside at the 2 tables by the window frontage. Coffees are always nice. Service was great too. Food portions here aren’t huge, and with rising costs …this place is NOT good value (-1*). On this occasion, I ordered something I hadn’t had before…unimpressed! 2xDeep Fried breaded Chicken breast fillets on a slice of bread with pickle and sauce on the side. For me: Very dry (-1*) which took ages to swallow. Didn’t complain, just sat longer to eat. Best to choose recommended/popular items like Turkish eggs/benedicts lol

Small but compact cafe with a certain vibe. The Eggs Benedict (Portobello and Royale) were faultless. Clearly has a loyal local clientele (we were recommended by one and it did not disappoint).

We had a flat white and a decaf americano. The flat white was too strong and the americano was quite bitter. Not really to our tastes. We wanted a bite to eat and thought there’d be a range of stuff. But it was either cake, or bigger meals. We fancied a sandwich but nothing like that available. We should have looked more carefully before sitting down I guess. On the positive side the staff were lovely and helpful, and the cake we had was nice. Maybe the staff were too lovely because the guy sat in the window shouting down his headphones for the whole of our stay should have been told to conduct his Zoom meetings somewhere else, or to pipe down.

food and coffee was terrible. bacon was like leather and the bread was stale service was friendly though.

Coffee was OK, I’ve had better. I ordered a coffee cake, which was disappointingly small and not particularly good. My partner had scrambled eggs on toast, which were really nice, but took well over half an hour to get to the table, despite the place being relatively quiet… I figured out I could have driven back to Kenilworth and scramble a couple of eggs myself in less time… it seems to be a recurrent theme in the post pandemic age: inflated prices and deflated service… how long is going to last, before people stop going out altogether? Anyway, won’t go back…

Wow what a fantastic find! Truly unique breakfasts which were all amazing! I had a Turkish lamb kofta tangine with poached eggs, yoghurt, tomatoes! Wonderful flavours, great eggs and a piece of Turkish bread too! Absolutely delicious! Others in our group had smashed avocado on toast but with Moroccan spices etc! The staff were super friendly and helpful too! Highly recommended

Called in Yorks Cafe while visiting Stratford upon Avon. Staff were friendly. I had a hot chocolate and it was so nice. Creamy and chocolatey. My parents both had cappuccinos. Would definitely recommend this cafe.

Almost fraud ! Because the menu just does not match what ends up on your plate!.. so really don't expect to see exactly what you order.. the staff although pleasant enough are on another planet for attention to anything basically. Read other reviews and maybe we hit it on a bad day but genuinely the portion I received was tiny.. 1 small sausage, 1 small peice of sourdough bread and 1 portion of smoky beans served in a tiny tub normally used say for a ketchup portion !.. to expand further the beans were completely normal and I didn't even order sausage. My partner's smoked salmon and scrambled egg was less everything else it stated on the menu ie dill ..any sauce.. dukkah etc in an effort to jazz it up she asked for mustard and pepper.. no mustard in the building and was brought a salt grinder which was used before we realised. Still attempted to give us a bill at an over the top full price.. which wasn't happening...will never return with so many other fantastic places to eat in Stratford upon Avon.

An absolutely delicious breakfast outside in the centre of town. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.

Easily the best breakfast I've had around Stratford and possibly ever. I had the buttered eggs and they were nothing short of spectacular. Fans of Sabrina Ghayour, Ottolenghi or Dishoom will find thsemves very happy here. Plus, the music playing is always great!
