The Boars Head in Stratford-on-Avon

A pleasant, comfortable place with friendly serving staff and tasty food. Friends that had the Liver were raving about it - The hand carved ham, egg and chips was a generous portion and the Salmon was excellently presented!

What a little gem of a place. Food was amazing I had vegan butternut squash and beetroot wellington. My daughter had home made lasagne, both dishes were delicious. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend a visit here

A really good pub serving good food at sensible prices. Around the Stratford area some establishments are higher prices than you may expect to pay, especially if you have a family. The service was polite and easy going, and no trouble for the barman (sam) who went to personally ask the chef when I asked about times of service, and the menu. The food arrived and was exceptionally good. Nice to see old fashioned values and good manners. Will return when back in the area.

We didn't have food just drinks and pub is dog friendly aswell lovely pub even had doggie treats at the bar 🥰🐾

Saturday 20th July 2024, After visiting Charlecote Park we drove to the village of Hampton Lucy to go for dinner at ‘The Boars Head’. We arrived to an empty pub where a rather dim young man told us that he did not know if they were doing meals and that he would ask someone. He came back to say that he did not know whether the chef was coming back and it could be two hours or more and there may not be any food. This was 5.00pm on a Saturday evening for goodness sake! No wonder pubs are going out of business with ethics such as these. Think twice before you go here

For us, a quiet Sunday lunchtime experience, very nice, pub food freshly cooked, drinks good, mix of locals and visitors. Lovely village, beautiful church. Would definitely visit again for a longer walk.

A bit out of the way village pub that is excellent for food.

Fabulous little country pub with meals made fresh. Very accommodating to our needs. Puddings were great too. Will be back.

I payregular visits to this country pub for lunches with mates. Always made welcome even when they are very busy. Choice of food is good and I've never had a poor meal. Situated in a nice part of Warwickshire within easy distance òf Warwick and Stratford. Also, handy if you are visiting Charlcote House

This was a quick stop off during a little bike ride. We enjoyed a couple of pints in their court yard to the rear. Good selection of drinks, ales and bar snacks. Tables were laid out beautifully ready for food. But we needed to ride home.

We visited as a family booking of 8 on Easter Friday. A last minute booking and grateful to be accepted. A nice cosy dining room and welcoming feel. Also dog friendly which is great! The barman / waiter was running the show and doing a great job considering he was on his own! That being said, this did delay the table satisfaction checks slightly.. we could of done with additional sauces (ketchup, Mayo etc) for those with Burgers / Chips etc but there was nobody to ask. Little details but makes a difference! The food was very good. The only thing that could make it better considering the prices would be some garlic bread/ciabatta or similar with the Bolognaise or salad Garnish with the Burger dishes. Overall a lovely time in a little village pub, and the children were given ‘Easter surprise’ sweetie bags after the meal. A fab incentive to eat all of their dinner!

Excellent lunch at this lovely village pub, as good as I have had for a long time. Very moist and tasty lightly battered haddock and chips. Also, homemade chilli con carne. Tasty pudding to follow. Highly recommended.

Looking forward to eating here always good. Today we had specials and we all found the food was disappointing lack of it and poor quality.

We went again for lunch, excellent broccoli soup to start with, then I had sausages and mash and my companion had roast beef, both served with a more than ample selection of well cooked and presented vegetables. The staff made an effort to find us a suitable table, but it is probably best to book even for lunch as it is justifiably popular and in a beautiful location.

A brilliant Sunday lunch today and that was for 20 of us.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Mrs had fish, I had pizza. It was the 1st day they had tried pizza on the menu so I plumped for the pepperoni. I'm funny about my pizza sauces and bases but that was an exceptionally tasty pizza , and the Mrs loved her fish. And we were down for a trip from Hull

We stopped off here in passing. The pub was very invinting and welcoming. Struck up some conversations with locals. Lovely food and great ale. Shireen (not sure if I have spelt right) was lovely and friendly and is a credit to this establishment. Will definitely visit again.

Visited in support of local Morris Dancers on New Years day. Dancing, Mummers play, folk music and singing. Only sausage and bacon baps to eat but who cares?

What a great place. We went there with our boy and it was a lively place for a Sunday afternoon snack.👍👍

My wife and I visited the Good Beer Guide listed The Boars Head on a Friday Lunch time after visiting the nearby National Trust Charlcotte Park. I had a good half of North Cotswold Shagweaver and we both had a meal of delicious Pate on warm toast - not cheap but very tasty.

After visiting the local NT park, we came here for lunch. I'm looking at the receipt and pictures on Google, but can not remember the experience. I know it was the first time I had Madri (beer) and I believe the food was good as otherwise I would be complaining. However, the food prices seem reasonable. Might as well go and check it out. Can't be bad.

We only popped in for a cheeky half. Was greeted by a very friendly barmaid who served us our refreshers expertly. The roastie looked incredible and had we had more time would have definitely ordered 2. We will be going back!

Had Sunday Lunch in the bar area of The Boars Head as a couple after visiting the National Trust property at Charlecote Park. We both had the vegan wellington which was very tasty. Overall The Boars Head was excellent, unassuming and wonderful find.

Nice, small pub, friendly, food was good and hot. No room for dessert, sadly. Nice English Stout, and wine was good.

Such a lovely friendly place. Enjoyed an evening meal booked last minute. Vegetable lasagne was delicious. Obviously a favourite with the locals.

We came for an evening meal as we had enjoyed a lunch here a few weeks ago. However, I was disappointed with my burger which was simply a rather ordinary beef patty in a dry bun. I can't remember ever having had a more boring burger. Other members of our party seemed to enjoy their food more but overall it was not what I had hoped for.

I cannot reccomend The Boars Head enough. Having lost my wife we followed her "Celebration Of Life" at Oakly Wood Crematorium with such a wonderful service. The warmth and hospitality that we all received at The Boars Head after was second to none. So many are returning. They are truly The Best ! I do not say that lightly XX

Lovely village pub, made to feel very welcome as was my dog Barkley. Ordered the Mediterranean vegetable tart and it was homemade and delicious. Excellent value for money.

My first time at the Boars Head was really good when we arrived after booking a table on line there was a mix up and our table was not reserved but the young lady behind the bar dealt with this very professionaly and sorted it I would also praise her for the service she gave us in a busy pub. The food was ok. The pub was a very typical country pub which felt very homely well worth a visit.

Lovley local pub vibes, very friendly and welcoming. The have a nice big courtyard garden, and parking around the back. Food is average British pub grub, ok. Welcoming to dogs and kids!

Spent Mothers Day lunch here with my family. The food was delicious and plentiful, staff were friendly and attentive. Sunday roast was particularly good. Will be back soon. 😊

Spur of the moment visit following a trip to Charlecote. Staff friendly,warm and welcoming. We had the roast beef lunch, liver and bacon and a burger, all very tasty, excellent portions and the beef was beautiful. Would highly recommend.

We went for Sunday lunch which was delicious with plenty of options, but we opted for the classic roast which came with lots of vegetables and optional cauliflower cheese. The puddings were delicious too. The staff couldn’t do more to make our meal a great experience. Why only 4 stars? It is very cramped. We were on a table for 2 but the main corridor was on one side and there was someone sitting on a chair the other side. With the back hard against our table. The staff were finding very difficult to get to the tables by the windows.

Country pubs really don't get any better than this. Fabulous food at reasonable prices. Excellent beer and the staff are great 👍 👌

We met friends here after a walk in Charlecote Park and it was perfect for a festive lunch with children. Good pub food and lovely staff who were so helpful and welcoming. We had a great time. Would definitely recommend!

Went there with my friend and her small daughter. Only the "front" bar was open but that was fine as it was Monday and not busy. The back bar and outside look as welcoming and inviting as the front one. Staff and other punters were really friendly, nice people. Food and drink were really tasty. I'm not vegan but had a vegan dish. Impossible to find somewhere rural and snug like this with such a good choice of vegan food!

My husband and myself came for lunch yesterday, and such a lovely place and atmosphere very friendly and meal was really lovely .felt very relaxed. Will be coming again soon. Lovely members of staff too

Fantastic pub? Lovely warm welcome . Recommended the Pie of ham and mushroom informed at time there would be a wait as it was made from scratch...it was definitely worth the wait couldn't fault it. All washed down with some lovely real ale ..Will definitely be doing another visit xx

Nice friendly pub, stopped over on an evening bike ride, will think about coming back to try the food.

Highly recommend this pub for Sunday lunch. We sat outside in the paved garden. Really good value for money. Beef is served rare so bear that in mind. Loads of freshly cooked veg. You need to book on advance though.

Tasty food, decent pint and friendly staff

We stopped here for some food and drinks after a walk in Charlecote Park. Staff were very friendly, lots of drink options and some good seating space outside. The portions are generous, and the burgers were okay but not sure if the meat is made fresh on site in the kitchen.

A lovely village pub, we walked in and got the last table on a Friday night. The landlady was welcoming and helpful. Had a pie from the specials board, very nice, well cooked. Food was ready quickly. Priced reasonably. Will go again, when we're back this way.

The Landlord was very friendly and the service was quick. We both had sausage and mash and it came up lovely and hot. The 'delicious' gravy was indeed, very delicious. We enjoyed the food so much we went there again 2 nights later. Being Friday night there were a few of the locals in there who were a little loud, which was a shame, but I suppose it's their local soooooo. However once again the food was served within a reasonable time and lovely and hot. All in all a great place and we will go there again when we're down that way again.

Hampton Lucy local pub. Good place to visit

Was staying tat the Stratford Manor Hotel and wanted to eat somewhere different. Picked the pub as it had good Veggy options and not too far away (10mins) Pub is not large so suggest you book in advance if you wish to eat inside Service was really good, lady served behind the bar and did waitressing. Used by locals as well so had a good atmosphere. Food was great, good selection of gins Ample portions....we had no room for a pudding!

I haven't been to this pub for several years and the interior has been spruced up. Service was friendly and prompt. My companion thought the ham that she had with egg etc. was excellent and very well cooked. I enjoyed scampi. The portions were generous so we were not able to try a tempting dessert menu.

A real joy to find The Boars Head again after 20+ years away from the area. It is a lovely pub with a nice atmosphere and very polite staff. The menu is excellent value and good straight forward food , we both had ham egg and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will certainly be back again!

A lovely meal cooked perfectly... My partner had the fish and chips ( highly recommended) I had the vegetarian option ( the tart ) We shared a pudding full up from the generous main ( sticky toffee pudding) Yummy 😋 The staff are very friendly...

We were seated in a back room which felt very disjointed from the rest of the pub, which meant it was had to attract attention to get some service. Ordered the Sunday roast with pork, the meat tasted like it had been boiled - so...
