The lack of options & willingness to accommodate for gluten free is seriously poor. Yo sushi has gone backwards in their ability to accommodate gluten free, considering sushi can very easily be made so. However some chains have had managers that try to help. At Selfridges Yo Sushi it was truly painful to speak to them about it. Yo sushi - in this day and age it shouldn’t be so hard!

Gluten free options in Yo sushi have got worse. This cuisine can easily be made gluten free yet instead they have reduced the number to minimal options. Yo sushi - sort it out! To make it worse, having been to other Yo Sushi’s where the managers do try to accommodate, the Yo Selfridges manager was annoyed by my requests and made it harder. Sadly my son loves the Katsu curry so have had to go from time to time. But today will be last visit.

I usually go to Yo Sushi at the train station but haven't been to Selfidges one in years. I went to this one and left a bit disappointed. The guy said it just like the one in at New Street (no, it wasn't). There wasn't any QR to order from the til and no button to get the staffs attention. I was left waiting for someone to come by to take my order. Their was hardly any staff their and wasnt great at communicating. I ask if their was a QR system and the guy just stood there in silence (I guess I just say my order then lol). When I got my order, my dumplings were missing in my ramen and it didn't taste very good. I did get a discount from the bill when I said the dumplings were missing. I'll stick to New Street one for a better service in future. I would give it just one star but I did get part refund for my order.

Same as one of the old reviews "came hungry, left hungry " and paid £50 for 2 people. It is Just overpriced not worth it at all. Can have so much better meals with this money. You charge your customers £4 for a small glass bottle of coke and still ask for service charge?😶‍🌫️

came yesterday with my mom for a quick lunch and it was really good; the food was absolutely delicious and quick to arrive. the waitress which was serving us had purple and black hair, she was absolutely lovely and so friendly, she answered each question we had with a smile (it was our first time) . even though the food is a bit pricey i do think its worth it would recommend the chicken yakitori!

We went to go and get some food at this yo sushi a few days ago, we got miso soup, yo fries and the veggie dumpling ramen as well as some tap water for the table. The only good thing was our miso soup. The service was just bad as every time we spoke to staff they looked confused and we had to repeat ourselves constantly as well as this there was not one single smile or just general kind attitude towards us when we entered. The fries were an outrageously small portion especially for how much they cost. Once the ramen arrived I tried it and it was honestly just like warm water. I’ve had it before and wanted it for months leading up to this but it was just shocking the noodles were over cooked and the soup was so bland I maybe had two bites until I caught some of the staffs attention. I really try not to complain about food but I knew that I had to, I told one of the staff and they looked at me confused once again until eventually I asked for the manager even then the first thing he asked was if I wanted it remade, I said that I didn’t because I was on a time crunch so when I eventually went to pay the bill I had found that the noodles that literally hadn’t eaten were still on there and I ended paying £17 for fries and miso soup also my second biggest complaint would have to be the water. It’s just in a plastic jug no ice or anything it was luke warm at best. Very disappointed and will not be coming back due to the lack of friendly staff and general poor quality of food and lack of customer service.DONT GO HERE!!

Very average visit with my daughter. The service is back to the conveyor which is really fun. You order drinks and some hot bits from the menu on a QR code. Food was overall good, chips were a bit cold and servers were busy but polite. You can no longer pay on the app so you need to call someone over to pay, disappointing they add a service charge when the belt delivers you food, no choice to opt out and you’re not told. I noticed on the receipt.

Actually we were told to wait in the queue for 5 minutes. The person who came after us been served a table in front of us which is a coach table for 4 person. Honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had in years. I'm a chef of 15 years & I was so upset by what I saw and ate Firstly it took upto 45 minutes to get some dishes served, one never made it. The 'chef' in front of us clearly had no idea what he was doing, he was working in an absolute bomb site of a section. The 'sushi' served, was the poorest I had eaten ever I would say, the tuna was a horrible grey colour and was clearly atleast 1-2 days old, it smelt fishy and when I saw the chef take it out of a container which was 2cm deep in fish juice / water I decided not to eat any more. The fact you guys pre slice fish hours in advance doesn't help, but what makes it worse is the fish your pre slicing is not fresh. Everything sushi shouldn't be, apaling service from staff, untrained chefs serving mediocre standard food, I would highly advise against eating here again

Just been to the Sushi School experience here and it was amazing! Our instructor was friendly, enthusiastic and full of character. The whole experience was interesting and great fun. The other staff were helpful too. Highly recommend and great value. We have full bellies and a bag full of sushi to take home 🙂

We went to Yo sushi yesterday (11/4/22) which was very busy! The food was amazing as always however service and help from staff was slow which reflects on the 4 star rating! We all know yo sushi. I used to be a regular there and have frequented the selfridges branch 100s of times over the last 20 yrs. Yesterday will be the last time i will spend money in one of there establishments. Yes the sushi is not as good as a Japanese fish market, and you never fell you've had value for money but the menu is well rounded and its convenient so we thought we'd grab a quick snack. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was good. We were pointed to a table and when the server came over to ask if we had been in since belt service had resumed we explained we hadn't. He explained that we must pay for belt service and menu products separately? while we looked through the menu we picked a few dishes from the belt, there is now no wasabi on the table? so i left the table found a waiter and asked him to bring over the condiments. when he arrived i ordered a few pieces from the menu. the waiter then placed a card machine in front of me signaling for me to pay via card before recieveing the the food. I didn't like that, they never used to charge before you ate. Was this something they have put in place to stop people from running off? because they have no staff to serve correctly? i felt like a order number not a client about to spend £60-£80 on a snack. You can't charge extra for positioning and dining experience then provide no service. I then went to pay for the order in cash. I was looked at like a problem. The waiter explain it was yo sushi policy not to accept cash. This was not made clear to me before i sat down and there were no signs available at a glance. Im not a problem I'm a customer that has took hundreds of friends and clients for a quick fun lunch over the past 20 yrs. Take my money or comp the 3 small plates we had started. This is where the manageress was called. A nice lady who has worked there for many years. i tried explaining that i wish to pay cash and that i had no other payment method available. It was a very difficult conversation with no understanding compassion or customer service. She explained that i can't order anymore food and must finish my meal. I presumed this meant that the 3 small plates i had eaten were complementary? NO she then took payment in cash for the food on the table. Simply in shock we left. I hope the chain suffers for there poor decisions with there policies. Put customers before profits and the customers will come. Treat us like a contactless payment and we won't

The poor value is one thing but when most companies are trying their best to be inclusive, YO! are doing the opposite. Without my glasses (yes my fault) and therefore poor vision, ordering by app is impossible when you can only see the outline of your phone. How on earth is this an acceptable way to serve clients and why do people think this is a better method? Looking around there was no one over 45. Odd that. Would have gladly given 0/5 but Tripadvisor only allows 1/5. Sorry YO! Awful!

I am a regular here because everytime the customer service, food and atmosphere is second to none. It is very relaxed and peaceful there. Situated in the corner of Selfridges, perfect for a meal with friends or even on your own. The food is always made fresh and the staff are very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Used to love Yo Sushi but I won’t be returning. No water, wasabi, ginger, anything on the table! Hardly anything on the belt and it was moving so fast you had to be quick with what you did try and catch! Prices are absolutely ridiculous. A dish that was about .£2.80 pre Covid is now about £5 as an example. I understand prices have risen but not that much, and there is a clear reduction in quality too. Plus everything is ordered using a smart phone now because they have fewer staff. Not exactly a pleasant dining experience.

Absolutely disappointed with our visit to yo sushi in selfridges in Birmingham, until you change your system I will never return and will guide all of my friends and family to do the same, was greeted and seated then told I needed to order everything online, you go to a restaurant to be waited on, I might as well have gone home and got a delivery, no button anymore to get the attention of any staff, three times I had to get up to speak to a member of staff, one of these times I asked for a spoon and was just pointed to a plastic tray of cutlery, the food on the belt was minimal and uncomfortably warm, the fresh food was lovely but it cost me £34.78 to be plonked on a seat and sort myself out, my phone was low on battery then my friend had to go on my personal phone to look through the limited menu that did not reflect the one hand given to us (what was the point of the hard copy menu!!!) You claim to offer a "fun & vibrant dining at YO!" All you gave was an awkward & far from fun dining, you go to restaurants as a treat and not have to do it yourself, I used to love going there, not now

Since covid, it has changed alot. I miss picking what looks interesting from the conveyor as it goes by. Now you need a QR reader on your phone to order. Still the same super high quality of food. If you're only experience with sushi is supermarket pavk then PLEASE eat here because this is what it should taste like. I come here whenever I can because it's just amazing. I wish there was a Yo! closer to home for me but it still stays a special day out treat lunch. Recommend my favorite; tempura rolls and maki youre new to sushi! Ive never been fond of the salmon side of sushi. Theres alot on the menu I havent tried yet! Absolutely great place

Really enjoyed the experience, although price was a little high the food was great. Great fun but the two seaters are quite cramped when all your food arrives and was unsure to put the waste or empty dishes back on the belt. Would have been nice if staff would notice when walking past that your table was overrun with stacked plates.

visited friday 18/02/2022 around 5pm. Being specific as management should really re interview the older guy (total of 2 ) who was working on that day. This chap was so unenthusiastic to be there and had no customer service at all. Went with my wife and 2 kids , hoping to get the kids eat free discount for half term, firstly this staff member made no mention of this as you would expect. When we inquired he said you had to spend a total of 20 pounds to get 2 kids meals free.(which we did and I hope this is the current policy). He told us it may apply automatically at checkout if not to let him know . It did not apply automatically and we sat and waited for what seemed like eons for him to make another appearance . By this time we asked the younger guy who was on duty who gave us a code. Finally after waiting for so long we were able to order our food. When the drink came I had 2 kids that needed straws to drink ,again no site of this man.(maybe he goes shopping in between). As our table piled up with used dishes he was still nowhere to be seen. We decided to help ourselves and placed the used dishes on the moving belt, and tada! he showed up to firmly let us know NOT TO DO THAT!. Such customer service from this guy , moving from not engaging with us at all to a rather confrontational feeling DON'T DO THAT. We love yo sushi and have always had a great experience otherwise but staff members like this really need to decide if they want to work there or not .

The service was appalling, my mechanism to call for help, each time you need assistance there you can be sat waiting up to 20 minutes for the 1 staff member to notice, My daughter spilt a drink and we had no assistance mopping up. One good item arrived that was ordered by mistake (our mistake but a clear casualty of their 'you can only order online and there's patchy reception so it takes you over 15 mins to order!!!) and the manager just said "can't help you, your mistake" they didn't even offer to order us a replacement. This did not feel like a meal out and for over £40 to feed 1 adult and 1 child we won't be going again.

The ramen noddles is not real ramen, not chewy. Overall is pricy. The food quality is not worthy for the price. I am surprised that it received so many high ratings. Paid for a kids meal for my partner as she wasn’t that hungry. Had to refund her 10 minutes later as she wasn’t under 12. Buzzard but she didn’t want anything else and money is money at the end of day. Still sent out food and messed up the refund. Place needs to sort its self out. An enjoyable experience ruined. Won’t bother next time.

Myself and my husband re visited yo sushi for the first time since lockdown. This has always been an extra special treat whenever we are out shopping. What has happened !!!! We appreciate that COVID has changed many hospitality venues and new methods or ordering food however the whole experience has completely gone. First you have to create an account, navigate your way through a water down menu of only half the food they used and not to mention the prices have increased……… after sitting there for 20 mins trying to find what we wanted we ended up walking out, very disappointing. Not wanted to leave empty handed I noticed they had the spicy tuna rolls for take away …… you also had to create an account and check out yourself and forced to leave a TIP!!!!!!! For what. Absolutely madness. Yo Sushi you need to look at what you have changed is not working.

The food was great as always. Chicken gyozas and Korean chicken were our favourite. However, the ‘new normal’ way of working at Yo just isn’t for us. The traffic light system on the conveyer belt seems like a good idea but it doesn’t work properly. We had a drink order go past which we knew was ours (saw it go round the belt twice) but didn’t stop at us; we had someone else’s order stop at us and at one point the belt wasn’t stopping at anyone. As well as this, one of our orders didn’t arrive (presumably taken by somebody else) and we ordered a 5 piece gyoza dish but were sent 3. All of these issues were eventually solved once we could get hold of a member of staff but this wasn’t easy. Staff were working hard but were either greeting and seating, cooking, cleaning or sorting takeaways. There was no one around to check on customers already seated. All in all, we did not find this the relaxed dining experience that it used to be. Having to keep an eye on the belt constantly to make sure we didn’t miss our food just spoilt the whole thing. Might try a takeaway in the future but won’t be eating in the restaurant again unless they go back to the old (and better) way of serving.

A super-efficient service with conveyor belt was intriguing and very effective. Host Hanna was brilliant, helpful, clear and patient in explaining the digital ordering system. Asked whether an hour was enough, and it was, mainly due to their system. Salmon Maki's were my son's favourite, so we had more, but we also had excellent avocado makis. Cawston Press Ginger Ale was a great refresher.Let my son choose, so maybe not quite enough heat for me, but he loved it here and will want to come again. Fairly small portions IMHO, and so really not cheap, at around £20 without filling us, but a very worthwhile, and entertainingly presented experience.

This was the first time my daughter and I had been into Birmingham for over a year. I booked the table online with ease. When we turned up the staff were very helpful. The young man who showed us our table helped me with understanding the ordering and payment procedure( as I have no tech knowledge). Food was fresh and tasty. Drinks and food arrived quicky. We felt safe for the whole experience. Thank you for making our day special. Keep up the super work. We will be back in the holidays

My partner and I had a great time at yo sushi today, all our food was hot and made fresh to order. We really enjoyed being able to come back to our favorite restaurant. The service from Hanna and Tommy rounded off a great experiance, ensuring we were able to enjoy crispy beef teriaki without any chilli (sometimes my partner can be sensitive to spice) We look forward to coming again for some strawberry cheesecake mochi 🍡 <3

Me encantaba venir a comer sushi y fue lo más destacado para nosotros venir y gastar algo de dinero, pero mi última visita no fue buena, las gambas sabían mal cocidas y estaban viscosas, el lado de las papas fritas frío y grasiento no era agradable, y mis gyzoyas estaban tibio el sushi era excelente pero todo lo demás arruinó la experiencia. y tenían un menú limitado

¡Mi hija ama a Yo! y ahora vive en Birmingham, por lo que un viaje a Selfidges me pareció apropiado. En estos nuevos tiempos es diferente, pero seguro y el personal es servicial y optimista. Mi novio y yo elegimos a Yo! para nuestra celebración de aniversario de 2 años. Llegamos un poco tarde a nuestra reserva, tal vez 10 minutos después de haber sido retenido en otro bar. El chico que nos recibió al llegar fue francamente bastante grosero, lo cual fue bastante decepcionante. No fuimos recibidos con un hola, simplemente “¿has reservado? "Y respondí" sí, mi reserva es bla, bla, bla en este momento, lo siento, llegamos un poco tarde ", a lo que la respuesta fue" bien, estaba a punto de cancelar su reserva, su mesa está allí ", a lo que él solo señaló, ni siquiera nos llevaron a nuestra mesa. Aparte de esto, la comida era buena, pedimos en línea y la comida nos llegó en un transportador para no entrar en contacto con otra persona grosera. Es una pena que nos hicieran sentir culpables por llegar tarde y nos trataran como si fuéramos un inconveniente.

Bueno, he sido fanático de Yo Sushi durante mucho tiempo, pero no he estado en Selfridges durante mucho tiempo.¡La configuración es increíble ahora, su cinta transportadora se detiene en su mesa y una luz se vuelve verde si es para usted! ¡Brillante!Serían 5 estrellas, pero el menú me pareció increíblemente limitado y, como vegetariano, no había mucho que ofrecer. Was told online to book a table.. Phoned and spoke to someone who told me we couldn't book a table, just drop in. Upon arrival was asked if we booked??? By the same person who I spoke to on the phone. NEXT came the worst part... They insisted I use the hand sanitiser.. I respectfully declined as its tested on animals which goes against my ethics and morals.... I was told quite abruptly that if I didn't sanitise my hands I wouldn't be allowed in... So the only way I could eat was to compromise my morals. After a stand off I was told I could wash my hands in the public toilets.... I agreed and started to walk off to have the manager call after me "just make sure you actually wash them"... Wow... If I wasn't out with my friend for her birthday treat you wouldn't of had my business. The ordering was easy, service OK.... "we touched all the stuff we brought to you but we can't touch it now to hand it to you" the Katsu curry sauce was very watery, didn't have half its usual taste... Not to mention you pay to go large to get what is CLEARLY a much smaller than usual portion.. But costs more. And well sushi without the aubergine harasame isn't a trip out... A poor experience overall... But this is the worst of the two Birmingham YO Sushi's... Felt like the staff were giving me dirty looks throughout... After they failed to bully me into using their hand sanitiser

The portions are very small. We had to order 2 rice & 2 noodles just to have a decent size portion & for them dishes alone it came to £18. Charged both of us for water when only 1 person had it. They have a Monday 25% discount but then banged 10% service charge on top. Including 2 drinks each our lunch bill came to over £70 for 2 people. Food & staff were nice but felt totally ripped off. Blue Monday was better value

Always nice food here. The cost does add up when you can’t help yourself and just keep taking plates off the belt and ordering but it’s so delicious! I love the spicy California roll and spicy salmon. The coriander tuna is delicious. My 7 year old son loves going here! He has the prawn katsu curry without the sauce. He will always choose here when in Birmingham!

He estado aquí varias veces, la comida se cocina fresca y el servicio es rápido y eficiente, es genial probar nuevos platos de sushi especialmente, mi favorito es el pollo Katsu, que es muy sabroso con un toque de picante. Siempre ocupado con una gran selección de comida oriental. Vale la pena una visita.

I was disappointed with the blue Monday offer finishing as it makes the food more expensive unless you go for the cheapest plates. However they have a new deal of 25% off on a Monday on any dish. Ok it means some of my usual dishes were more expensive but there are so many dishes I wanted to try on the more expensive plates that I wasn’t prepared to pay the full price for. I like this new deal for that reason and I love the food here.

Beautifully presented food, my partner had the teriyaki chicken noodles cooked by a very nice chef, bursting with flavour. I had the fruit salad which had very fresh fruit was lovely. Cute conveyer belt prices are on the highish side but to be fair you get quality over quantity. Will be going again.

Took my daughter for her 20th birthday because I have been taking her to Yo Sushi since she was old enough to eat solids! It’s always been a family treat to go mainly to Harvey Nichols London 5th floor Yo Sushi bar but she’s at uni in Birmingham now so went to the one in the station shopping dome. Great food although we did need to order almost everything as it wasn’t on the belt. Our only problem wa that it was unbelievably cold and drafty. They’ve tried to add heat with heaters but the roof is so poorly insulated it was like eating outside! A super occasion spoilt.

Regular visitors to Yo’s Blue Monday deal only to find out today it has been stopped. Already ordered drinks so decided to stay but actually wish we hadn’t. Not only is the Blue Monday deal off but the prices have also gone up AND they have added an automatic 10% service charge. Service was average, as usual, food delivery was slow and disjointed, as usual, seating was cramped, as usual so for inflated prices the novelty of visiting Yo Sushi just isn’t enough in itself. We won’t be back and after already seeing how busy Mondays used to be compared to other days of the week I can’t imagine we will be the only regular customers going elsewhere. Poor decision Yo.

went here for my birthday meal last night and it was such an amazing place to go, lovely staff very friendly!! food was super tasty, we had loads to eat! we had a groupon deal off a family member for my birthday. we will definitely be back again! the lady who served us went above and behond plus she wore a japanese kimono, i thought that was a lovely look 😄

Appalling attitude from one of the staff this evening. 'Soy sauce sachet isn't free, we are giving only because we want to give' was exactly what I was told! As an Asian who know sushi culture more than that particular non-asian staff, please note that soy sauce and wasabi are part of a sushi meal. If getting some soy sauce would be so tricky I suggest Yo Sushi stop serving sushi altogether. If the area manager is looking at this, please check and educate your staff. N.b incident took place on Monday 28/10/24 around 9-930pm.

Terrible experience had a table booked for a friends 40th paid £70 deposit, even took a phone call to confirm the week before to confirm we were all coming , arrived at the venue for it to be closed no answer no response no refund and 7 of us stranded in Birmingham after travelling . Very poor service & handling given them a weeks grace hoping for a response and refund but still nothing, we were not the only ones waiting at the venue others were too AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
