The Japanese fast food on the first floor of Selfridges has bar-like seats, as well as revolving sushi and various side dishes to choose from. I went there three times, and each time I liked the mixed rice bowl of green beans, salmon, corn, avocado, and shredded cabbage. The curry chicken rice was also delicious.

Good choice of sushi 🍣 Requested the salmon maki as it wasn’t on the belt, which came rather fast, and was available after that. It took a little while to sit us, although most of the spots were available and three staff members were going back and forth in front of us, and it wasn’t so straightforward to get someone’s attention when wanting to order from the menu. But overall a good experience, good food, and nice spot in the Selfridges food hall.

During my visit, I approached Izzy the chef with a simple question regarding a dish he was preparing, as I was interested in ordering the same. To my surprise, Izzy responded with arrogance and rudeness, making me feel belittled and insulted. His behavior was completely unprofessional and not at all in line with the level of service I expect from a restaurant of your standing. The rest of your staff were exemplary in their roles, providing excellent service and assistance throughout my visit. It is clear that they are well-trained and dedicated to ensuring a positive experience for your patrons. However, Izzy's conduct was in stark contrast and left a negative impression.

I appreciate the fact that I can have sushi casually at the centre of the city. The seafood quality is ok, but the rice was terribly cooked which destroyed the quality of seafood. (The seaweed salad was good) Also the chef in front of was not nice, didn’t seem to be happy to service at all. Moreover, he was cooking and touching the food without any glove, after playing with his phone and sweeping the floor.

Been for lunch and all the sushi rolls were delicious. What I didn't like was the fact that the chef in front of me was clearly not in the mood, and despite the fact that I am not sure if the vegetarian gyozas were meant to be extremely crispy, even when I have thanked him he didn't bother to answer, no eye contact, not a smile and he didn't even warned me that the food was extremely hot. The Waiter was very attentive but they should take comments in a more constructive and positive way rather than just opt for a refund

I came in on 18/07 at around 1pm. The server, a male with dark hair, was extremely rude. He was at first reluctant to sit us down, when we were finally sat down, we were waiting for up to 20 minutes for our order to be taken. In this time, we watched other customers who came in after us be served instantly, and have drinks brought over to them immediately. We were being blatantly ignored. We then decided that we were not willing to spend our money in a place where we were being treated so rudely, and when leaving and explaining why we were not happy, we were met with a patronising apology. Such a shame, as prior to this I have had pleasant experiences here.

Good selection on the conveyor belt. Food tasted fresh. Service could be a little better for ordering drinks and hot food or reinstate the qr codes for ordering to the table. This could also be due to the very narrow space available between the customer seats and where the restaurant ends...it is difficult for more than 1 person to move padt at a time due to the fridge holding drinks. The servers were very pleasant. The food area in Selfridges is very warm overall, cooler air would be more pleasant.

I visited here 28/02/24, late afternoon. While the food was nice, this isn’t the best Yo! I have visited. The young woman who greeted me did not seem to care about her job. I was concerned that she didn’t ask (unlike all the other Yo! Staff on arrival) “do you have any allergies?” She didn’t really seem approachable nor did she have a friendly vibe. I saw a chef with an earbud in, and also he was eating food (I believe it was a baguette) taking a bite and then he was leaving in under his work bench- very bad image. Very disappointing, I hope you can rectify these highlights.

Sadly I think the party might be over for Yo Sushi. I visited the Selfridges branch on a Saturday afternoon and was seated after a short wait. Food was .. not good. I had vegetable yakisoba and the noodles were very overcooked and mushy. Firecracker rice that tasted of very strong / stale red onion and nothing else. Vegetable gyoza that were fine/average. Service is chaotic at best and staff were running around like headless chickens trying to keep on top of things. Whilst I was eating I saw quite a long queue form despite the restaurant area having multiple empty seats. When I came to pay, the server could not find details of what I’d ordered and asked me to tell him again so he could add it up. He said ‘I’m trusting you to be truthful’. Umm.. thanks? I’m not interested in short changing you, despite the totally mediocre food. I used to love Yo, but this was a sad experience and very different to previous experiences. Time to find something different.

I have always loved the convenience and freshness of Yo Sushi and was so disappointed to see how many have closed in Central London since the pandemic. On a recent trip, I stopped by the one in the Selfridge's Food Hall. While the food itself was as good and fresh as I always remembered it to be, there is noticeably less choice on the belt, which was pretty sparse, and a very cumbersome order by phone process. The service was lack luster as well, with long waits for water and the cheque. Ate at Sticks and Sushi the next day, which lacked the fun of the belt, but had overall better food and better service.

We're great fans of Yo! Sushi and usually visit either the Cambridge or Milton Keynes branches. We were in London so tried this branch (after an unsuccessful attempt at Bond Street - See the separate review) We were so glad to see the belt working again! Since Covid neither of the branches near us have theirs working and you still have to order everything and the belt delivers it. The belt is totally what makes the experience and always gets us to try something new. Staff were great, we were quickly seated and service was attentive. We came to eat there on Saturday and the line was too long so we came back on Monday and indeed there were no people waiting AT-ALL. Still we had to wait a while to be seated. The system of ordering drinks via the app and getting the sushi from the belt kind of made a big time difference between eating and drinking.. Also for some reason the guys at the service were'nt so nice. Maybe they don't like people who come with kids. Anyway, the sushi was really good, so that's why I gave a rating of 4 (but most of the plates had various kind of salmon sushi, not a great variety).

I was very disappointed how disorganised yo sushi selfridges is now, you can’t order hot food and pretty much lots of it from the menu, I mean you have to use an app and pay straight away for whatever you ordered but if you need more again order and pay straight away, very limited option on conveyor. Not much interaction with staff but yet when order digitally, you have to pay gratuity with every bill. Another thing, maybe not really yo sushi fault but in this huge Selfridges mall there is only one ladies toilets 2 floors down with maybe just 10 cubicles, the queue is enormous, I assumed most of the restaurants should have easy accessible toilets. Never again for me

What happened to Yo! @Selfridges? It used to be the best. It's a dreadful experience now. I went there last Friday and in no way would I recommend this venue. I am surprised Selfridges is allowing this to happen, as it also impacts its brand! On arrival, we waited over 8 mins to be seated. There were open tables everywhere but we were ignored by staff. Finally, a young man stopped looking at his phone and asked if we wanted to be seated!?!? There was no cutlery etc. where he seated us but he walked off before speaking to us. In the past, hot food was ordered via the servers, but not anymore - no one explained this to us. It is done via a phone app. We should have walked out at this point! A server came by and placed chopsticks etc. on the open spots near us but didn't offer us any! My husband grabbed those. I could go on and on, but it was more of the same and the overall experience was dreadful. The place is filthy now too. It was previously by a guy with a Liverpudlian accent (sorry I can't remember his name). He was exceptional. Don't waste your money on this Yo!

Food is average, the things that disappointed me the most is the lack of attentive customer service which I find quite common in UK, as you can see in the pic, I asked for some bowls to eat shared dishes and to my surprise, they brought out massive dirty bowls that still had the stain of left over food . They don’t understand that at Japanese restaurant they don’t use massive bowls like that, and also the cooks are mostly Indian whom I don’t think have much understanding about Japanese food . We ordered 6 dishes and they brought out 5 dishes and when I asked for the missing one; they brought out the wrong dish. Quite disappointing Japanese dining experience in UK. This used to be one of my favourite restaurants which I would always visit with friends and family. The aspect of it that we all loved most was the fact that it was a running sushi; not only was that fun to interact with but it was practical for times when we were in a rush. The disappointment came when I visited once more only to realise that it was no longer a running sushi restaurant. Not only that, but you had no choice but to order through your phone number in which you had to pay with card. Not only was this payment form extremely impractical, but the food itself wasn’t as good as it used to be. The teriyaki chicken was completely dry and tough, almost inedible. The sushi was chewy and gave the taste of something that had been stored for ages. I hate posting negative reviews but it’s saddening to see such a great restaurant loose it’s potential. I hope they return to their older ways of service.

I have come to this Yo since it opened I think (could it be 20 years) as I lived next door. Since then, moved away but come back at least once a year, and Yo is always a stop. I recommend it as a fun dining experience. They adapted well to Covid, and while unfortunately the belt is under utilized (so the novelty is gone and it’s sad for those who never experienced a belt full of endless choices), the fun is now the ability to order through the QR code. Do sign up for an account, rewards and free food come fast. I do so miss the still and sparkling taps, they were fun. Ok for the reason for 4 stars, and this may be a result of Covid where turnaround of food is not as fast: I think you feel the difference between the items that have been preper aheqd of time (salmon maki, salmon was mushy / fried prawn roll, prawns were mushy) and a salmon hand roll that was so good, avocado was fresh, good well cut pieces of salmon. Also, Yo, please spread the salt on the Edemame and not all on one bean, it’s clearly a design choice as I’ve come here three times this visit and it’s always the same. And finally. I know your serving staff don’t touch food that much, but some people with really long untied hair concerns me. AND some of your plates are either not well cleaned (we all know how sushi rice can be sticky) or stained because old. Either way, not a great look. First time I notice it in all my years here. Anyway, still, will always be required visit when I come to London.

I expressed my annoyance but was not impolite however the member of staff got defensive and kept saying "you can see we are busy" only apologised when I said "I hear that but I'm a paying customer". 👉TL;DR: I’ve dined at 100+ sushi restaurants in 5 countries, and YO! Sushi at Selfridges served the worst tasting food I’ve ever had. Environment and staff are totally fine. My expectations eating ethnic cuisine in its nonnative country are always kept low for obvious reasons. YO! Sushi set the bar for Japanese food lower than I can almost describe; it was such a pungently foul experience that I almost wish I had food poisoning to purge what I had put in my stomach. I say this at the risk of sounding like a raging Karen. However, this criticism against YO! Sushi was written for your sake—not mine. I should also note here that the establishment’s environment, staff, and table gave my girlfriend and I no trouble. In fact, the taste of our vinegar-saturated shitake ramen was tempered by the kind disposition of our server. Neither of us complained publicly about the food because we had already paid for it, but I hope this review will make you stop and consider supporting an alternative to this restaurant. The popcorn shrimp was delicious, steaming hot, and a delight. This is the end of all the good things I have to say about their food. (No offense to the chef. I blame upper management for not seeming to have QA on food freshness and flavor.) Let’s get into it. If you’ve ever had the miserable experience of grabbing cold, gas-station sushi for a road trip, you’d find yourself delighted to grab said sushi after having dined at YO! Sushi. We ordered two different types of salmon rolls, only to discover a mushy, stale flavor in each one. Fortunately, the salmon nigiri was somewhat fresh and only smelled a little bit like wet towel. The specialty rolls were entirely hit-or-miss. The best of the four we ordered was the chicken katsu roll, which was still an offense to “specialty” as a category. If you’re surprised at how bad I think their food is, trust me. I was too. I can’t remember the last time I posted a food review anywhere. Anyway—as I mentioned earlier, we also ordered their shitake ramen in hopes it would redeem the sushi we had. It didn’t. If you’re curious, I suppose it could best be described as “the cook accidentally spilled it in the rubbish bin and attempted to recover it.” At least they decorated it impeccably. I’ll stop here. At this point, I’m not even as disappointed as I am impressed for this abysmal excuse for a restaurant managed to stay in business so long. I bought an ice cream on the way home to wash out the putrid taste of YO! Sushi. (Sayonara sushi…)

The self service is easy to use and the food arrives quickly, but it wasn't very good quality. My salmon sashimi had a lot of bones in it which was awful so I left it. I won't go to a Yo Sushi again.

This was my first time visiting Yo! Sushi in Selfridges, the first thing I noticed was the queueing system wasn't very clear, some people queued to the left and some queued to the right, there wasn't a takeaway queue so it was just a bit messy knowing where to go.... Anyway I think the new "delivery" of the food is AWESOME!!! You have a red bar in front of you and it turns yellow when it's on the way (on the belt) and then it's green when it is in front of you. Very cool!! The only down side to this is that your dish has to go in front of everyone else before it gets to you, which we did keep saying ..I hope no one sneezes on it.... Especially when you can't see it around corners, it would be nice to have the plastic domes on that they used to do just to keep it extra fresh and safe. You can order to your table through the app which was really easy to do, the menu was a lot smaller than usual, I am not sure if this is because of Covid or just because it's in Selfridges but all of the favourites are still there. Knocked it down a star for the queueing system and no cover for the food, also what happened to the big sushi bowls?? Upgrading meant getting it in a bowl where you couldn't get to the sauce at the bottom...strange choice!

To The YO TeamSushi @ Selfridges, Wow!, I have no words to express how impressed we were with the food we ordered. Service was superb, a lovely atmosphere for everyone that gets there all in one roof. There is a saying: People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people won’t forget how you make them feel, these guys really know how to impress. Food was fresh, beautifully prepared and well presented; it was scrumptious. And it all arrived in one piece to our destination. I will highly be recommended to anyone around Selfridges. Many Thanks. New conveyor system works well and staff are very nice. Despite the restaurant being busy I wasn’t hurried along but on the other hand I had to ask three times for one drink.

Since lockdown, the menu and service has had to be reduced, but this is still a clean and well maintained establishment (just don't get lost looking for the toilets - they're downstairs!)
