Was feeling peckish and thought I would enjoy some sushi. However there seemed to be a strange odour from either the sushi or I expect from the actual plates. Either they are very old and are past their useful life or there is another issue. The choices of Sushi were incredibly poor, it just seemed to be the same dishes passing the variety just wasn't there, great if you like Salmon and what ever the other yellow/grey fish was that kept passing. Will not be back here again.

Came for a quick lunch, which is what we got! The conveyer belt, which I found a very cool idea was bringing us food without a wait ! The water installed on our table was another impressing feature. Food was amazing, very flavour full. The whole idea, food and experience was very impressing. The help button was another bonus, the staff would come over really quickly and tend to our needs. The staff also were very attentive and cleaned and restocked tables thoroughly. Lovely restaurant. However, for me it was overpriced. I could have about 10 of those dishes and still be very hungry. I had 5 and was unsatisfied to say the least, 5 fairy big dishes couldn't beat my hunger sadly.

Went here early one evening before the bank holiday weekend. It was very quiet and I am surprised to read other reviews saying it gets very busy. We were told to sit wherever we wanted. It took a while before being asked what drinks we wanted and there was no explanation offered as to how to order etc. The bell on our table didn't work so we had to rely on staff going past to get their attention. I've only ever gone to one other conveyor-belt style sushi restaurant before and I felt that Yo Sushi was disappointing in comparison - the range wasn't as wide and some of the dishes were not as nice. The food put on the conveyor was a small subset of the menu, lots of the same dishes going past, some without lids. We ordered a ramen and soft crab tempura from the hot menu and they were very nice. I liked the dessert options on the conveyor too. We spent quite a lot on trying out different dishes - next time we'll go on a Monday! As other reviewers have said, be warned it's too easy to spend a lot of money.

We waited at the front for 5 minutes or more only for one of the cooks told us to seat anywhere. But when we did, they told us to move at least twice. This was our first time eating at Yo Sushi and i think its save to save that we're never coming back. No one tried to even explain how the menus work, they only asked for our drinks near to the end of our meal and the restaurant wasn't even busy at all. It was like they were trying to avoid us! In the end we got fed up so, we paid our meal, being unsatisfied and left.

Went on Blue Monday where dishes are all servied at blue plate cost - you do save but you have to watch as there are some you can pay more on, or you can find yourself eating more! i particularly liked the Beef Tataki and Gyoza especially but some other great dishes too, some of the Sushi is a little tasteless but on the whole a nice lunch and will most certainly return

This is the only branch of Yo Sushi I've ever visited, indeed this is the only Sushi I've tried so don't have similar with which to compare. The style of dining is very informal. We like to sit at the bar and watch the food go passed. It's a nice companionable way to sit, side by side, but there are tables available for groups. Given how much fresh fish is lying around in the restaurant, there is absolutely no odour, the fish is that fresh. We love the fresh, healthy dishes on offer and find the staff helpful and the ambiance relaxed and informal. It's perfect for post shopping or pre cinema as it's located among the shops, near the cinema and numerous bars.

Walked in with my shopping. Waited at the door for 5 minutes before someone came to tell me to "sit where I like" (thanks for that). Waited another 5 minutes before I could flag down a disinterested waitress to bring me the menu. Then, nothing. The entire waiting staff disappeared to the other end of the restaurant, with no chance of getting their attention or eye contact to even order a drink. Waited for 10 minutes for some kind of service. Got fed up and walked out.it is the Manger's responsibility to train his/her staff properly for customer service. If you're the Manager of the Reading branch reading this, sort your life out.

Overall really enjoyed YO sushi . Great place to try new foods not the cheapest but ok. I thought the shift supervisor shouting at memebers of staff in front of customers was unprofessional but it's not a gourmet restaurant either. Will be trying other branches of YO sushi closer to home (was in reading on business)

Ate here on my own as I was in the area for a training course... I was very impressed especially with the tuna tataki in ponzu dressing (lovely sharp flavours) and also the tuna sashimi. There was a good selection of dishes on the conveyor belt and the waitress was helpful when explaining the yo sushi systems etc. I would definitely go and dine in a yo sushi again as there was a great selection of fresh sushi and also non fish dishes.

Visited just in time for the end of the January 50 plates for £2.50 deal. There was limited options on the conveyor belt, but you were able to order anything on the menu, which was brought to you very quickly. It was obvious that the dishes had not been sitting around for ages, which can sometimes happen at other yo sushis. As ever, the sushi was delicious and fresh. No need to be afraid if you don't like fish, there were plenty of other options available. Can be a bit expensive, so advise looking out for offers like this!

Returned here with my partner and her granddaughter after watching a film at the local cinema. At about 4pm on a Saturday afternoon we expected a wait as this is usually the case but we were pleasantly surprised to be given a table straight away. We ordered drinks - an iced tea, a soft drink and my usual large cold sake and these arrived promptly. We always like the deep fried prawns (naughty but nice) so we ordered 2 portions (3 large prawns in each portion) to start with and also took some plates of sushi off the conveyor belt. After more plates and a chicken katsu curry for me (all of which was delicious) the final bill came to about £45. We used a £10 'love2shop' voucher which neither we, nor the restaurant staff initially, we're certain that they would accept, so that helped. The quality of the food was the usual high standard and the staff very good (well done, Charlie, our waitress). One point for the management to take on board please - consider bringing back the timed bell for the food preparation staff to all wash their hands. I know they wash them regularly, and the bell was partly symbolic, but it is comforting for diners to see this happening. Would not hesitate to eat here again - well done Yo Sushi, Reading.

Yo! Is one of those places you either love or hate. Food is fresh, fascinating to watch it being prepared at the bar. We try to avoid ordering from the menu so we eat from the conveyor. Pickled ginger and wasabi condiments are freely available. ..i think charging for tap water is a bit cheeky but hey Ho. It's impersonal but not vast so you can't hold a conversation. I do think it's pricey for the style of eating...hubby and i spend approx £40-45 without drinks. I can imagine the novelty might wear off one day!

My partner and I ate here after a tiring few hours shopping in the Oracle. We have visited many times before and always enjoyed the food. We tend to go for a mix of the sushi and the cooked food. This time we commenced with the deep fried prawns (they used to be called 'hairy prawns' - prawns wrapped in vermicelli, deep fried and covered with mayonnaise) but not sure what they're called now - still very delicious though. The staff are very attentive and service is very good (as always). We shared some 'mains' - chicken Katsu curry and the beef sausages.I like the cold sake (rice wine) and two large bottles of that with a glass of rose for my partner all finished off with two plates of sushi and the bill came to £46 which we thought was ok. This place has never disappointed us and it was the same this time.

Normally we go to Yo Sushi in Windsor, but seen as our last 2 visits there were extremely disappointing (hardly any food on belt, slow service, staff talking to friends, orders took ages, ran out of things on the menu, ran out of sparkling water?!?!?!) we opted for Reading this time! So glad we did, it was very busy, but there was loads of food available & service was quick! Tonya who served us was amazing, friendly & efficient, entertaining the kids, without getting distracted with the job at hand! Such a good visit! We'll be back!

Yo sushi have lost the plot. This used to be a fantastic restaurant chain, offering good quality food, presented well, at competitive prices. Our recent visit to the Reading franchise inside House of Fraser was expensive (£90 for 4 people) and were hardly ate anything. The business have decided to screw the customer and put only two items per plate instead of three. Meaning an overall 30% increase in the price per plate, and of course you have to eat more as well to satisfy your appetite. We are not a family of big eaters, but this was a just a disgrace. Service was also pretty rubbish. Perhaps visiting the franchise when they are running a teaching course is a bad idea. All the food was coming from the kitchen direction and nothing prepared in front of you! We shall not be returning.

You get tons of food, too much and you have to take some home with you. Free rolling mat and recipes to take home. We'll have friends over and teach them our new skills soon. I would recommend to all, only slightly more expensive than a meal out.

Service was slow. They had to be reminded to get our drinks. Miso soup was free flow. But the spring onion pieces in the soup were too big. The vegetable tempura was interesting - large slabs of aubergine, and other veg smothered in chip shop batter. Sashimi was nice. Belt food was boring. Best to order fresh. The Yo burger was interesting - rice buns around chicken teri yaki. Luckily we had student discount!

Visited on a Monday to find that anyhting which is on a blue plate is £2.50! Most of the plates on the conveyor belt are blue and if there is somehting not on there or a hot dish you can press your table buzzer and have a waiter/waitress bring it to you hot and fresh. Wate ris extra which is annoying and feels slightly like a con as its on a self serve tap on your table not a fresh bottle. Also, even though plates are 2.50 it does add up quickly as each plate isnt exactly generous! Fantatsic selection though on the menu with helpful combo menus for a set rpice. Calorie amount is there too if thats what you require. The Katsu tofu is delicious and the duck hand rolls are lush although sometimes full of slightly too much stodgy rice at times. Would re visit but only on blue mondays as regular prices are too expensive and do add up too fast.

The food itself was all very good but I was disappointed that water was charged on top and the various plates were very expensive for the portion size. We really enjoyed all the dishes we ate especially the "gold" specials but these were £6 per plate and no more than 3 or 4 mouthfuls when sharing between 2. We stopped eating when we knew we were getting close to £20 a head but to be honest we left hungry. The food was good but it's just overpriced which is a real shame.

I dropped in to pick up two take aways - these were made fresh for me and were bagged up really quickly. The restaurant is extremely clean. My only comment was the manager was quite terse, cold and unwelcoming. Every time I moved away from my seat he would wander over and push it back against the counter as if I should not sit there whilst waiting for my takeaway to be prepared - not sure of his name but he sounded East European - I've travelled often in Eastern Europe and the cold, stern customer service is more often the norm there. Perhaps Yo Sushi could offer him a little cultural coaching to make customers feel more welcome. Apart from that the food was great and I would happily return,

Lovely place for a quick bite to eat when you fancy something a little bit different. Maybe because I am greedy we always manage to spend quite a lot so we always look for a voucher. The sashimi dishes are always lovely, good quality produce. The hot dishes that spin around on the conveyor belt are not as good as if you ask the waitresses for it fresh from the kitchen. Service always good, often busy and I don't like eating on a stool so we always try to time it away from peak timesSome people may think this is cheapish fast food but with all the tasty treats on offer it is not a cheap, quick dinner unless you are restrained!

Our visit in November was great. The food was fresh and tasty and there was plenty to choose from. You need to keep in mind that Yo Sushi is cheap and cheerful and not exactly a top end sushi restaurant but it is very good value for money and has a nice atmosphere. It makes a perfect spot so stop when you have had a long day of shopping or a nice place to quickly pop in and grab a bite before the cinema. The customer service is very good as well. We had a customer service issue on our visit before - we gave some feedback and it was dealt with promptly and appropriately. Don't go in thinking it's Nobu and you'll be fine.

If you like sushi you know what's the real sushi hence don't go. Better make it at home. Follow the many videos on youtube and enjoy the taste. They make huge profits for little quality. It is often made by inexperienced people, rarely you will find Japanese or Chinese with experience.

We went here when it first opened and were appalled at the shoddy quality of food. We complained to the manager. He was very apologetic and gave us a discount on the meal so I felt we needed to try it again. It was my son's 10th birthday and he loves sushi and the conveyor belt makes it easy for him to be in control so when he asked for sushi for his birthday lunch we decided to give it another go.The sushi has improved since the lat time we visited but the maki rolls were loose and fell apart. For some reason they weren't serving unagi (eel) and when we asked we were fobbed off with some nonsense about availability. When we first arrived the belt contained plenty of options but with 15 minutes the belt was nearly empty and we were waiting for the basics like edamame and prawn nigiri. We had to order our daughter's gyoza. The rice isn't sticky enough (which was a complaint from our first visit) and they still haven't gotten this right. the soy sauce bottle went dry and there was very little wasabi. The service was odd. We got the impression that our presence was a bit of a imposition and most definitely an annoyance right up until the point that I got my trusty little notebook out and started writing down notes. Then they swarmed on us. Suddenly we became the most popular people in the restaurant and when they found out it was my son's birthday they offered us a 20% discount. This could be a great place for basic affordable sushi. But they really must get their sushi chefs trained properly, make sure there is always a full and varied conveyor belt stocked with their best sellers. And sort out that rice.

Been eating Kokoro for over 10 years, and it remains a reliable comfort food after all these years. Would recommend half chilli chicken and half katsu chicken + curry sauce on the side. Makes for a wonderful blend of textures with a juicy and perfectly spicy dish that you can keep topping up the curry sauce in

Came here for supper after church with the other young adults from church. It would be helpful if the staff were more knowledgeable about allergies because while I can eat anything, one of the others is gluten free and for a moment it looked like there wouldn’t be anything suitable (but eventually something was identified on the menu that she could eat ). Their lack of knowledge of the constituents of particular items was also unhelpful to me when I was trying to choose from the available customisations for what I wanted to order for myself.
