Itsu in Reading

This tiny little cup of White chocolate Dream cost us £4.39, I mean I don't expect Gordon Ramsey's white chocolate dessert, but this is absolutely a rip-off! On top it taste like pure sugar, and sugar that's it, sooooooo sweet that one tiny spoon it hurts your throat, awful! This itsu restaurant is NOT a restaurant, just a canteen like those services you would find on the motorway. When we place our order on the screen, there's picture showing miso soup is served in a bowl, but instead it is in a paper cup, same for the crystal noodle. I mean seriously, we are not in the airport terminal, I'm kind of speechless, from outside looks like a standalone big restaurant, but it's actually nothing more than a takeaway.

This place is brilliant. I love coming here. The sushi is great. The terryaki chicken is also very good but too many syns for me now. Good seating areas. There is a really nice round table for big parties. Most of all the staff are fantastic. Kim and her daughter work here with their talented colleagues. The manager is also really helpful. Definitely recommend. Especially good on the way to a Reading football club match. Very nice atmosphere. P.s really neat bin area. Lots of cutlery available. Mirrorered areasa are really shiny can see your face in them. Always sauces on the table. Kim always replenishes them and her and her daughter keep everything clean and tidy. Must be good to come here on the way to b and q too as well as the football. Always lots of napkins. Great place for lovely reading people to come. P.p.s you can also get water with leaves in. Really cool. Itsu water is really good and cold. P.p.p.s good music. Nice flowers in the window purple. Also screens for ordering are good. And the whole ordering system is very efficient. The staff call out numbers and you collect your items from a ticket. There’s also an app to get itsu points. There’s also a recycling point for sustainability. Tables are nice wooden colour. And whole decor is very nice. Lighting is ambient. Good place. Also interesting seeds in jars.and the staff take the rubbish out the back door. I guess the bins are at the back.

Abdul is simply the best!! Very welcoming every time and makes everyone's day better just by being there! Thank you.

It's just overpriced plane food

Amazing place to enjoy a meal. Fantastic food and great customer service.

Food was very nice and a reasonable price. Service is from rich screen and collect from the desk but the seating area is more like a restaurant.

Great fast food, really clean and tidy place to eat - very well decorated and maintained.

Very expensive microwaved meals. So bland and horrible texture. Only plus side is they have sriracha and gochujang to drown your food in to have any flavour.

Good food and you get what you order . I do visit it, simple menu .

Popped in here for a quick bit of dinner. Turned into a small nightmare. The food items were not clear and when asked staff got mixed up and unfortunately got gluten containing food. Shift manager was pretty useless but did manage to process a refund. If you have any allergy - avoid.

Fast oriental style food. Seems quite generic, but does what it says on the tin. Quick serivce.

Food is consistently good quality and is ready within a few minutes of ordering. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The layout of the restaurant is relaxed and comfortable. Great value for money!

We like the food as its good and a little different. Being very much self service, service Is very limited, however the person on duty when we were there was helpful. As there were only six people eating in, atmosphere was lacking but don't really expect alot at lunchtime.

I like their nigiri, miso soup and chicken gyoza. Good thing about this place is they close later than the other Itsus in Reading and have free parking. 30 minutes before closing the offer 50% discounts on everything they have on disposal, meaning they always have fresh meals for the day and if you end up late you might get so cheaper meal available too.

Healthy option to have lunch after tiring shoppings ! Very fast service and good seating to go with family. My little one skipped pizza to have Itsu. That's a bonus for me. Overall good place who like light and healthy meal.

My niece truly loved eating here. The vegan ice cream mochi were fantastic and apparently her non vegan ones were just as good.

I went to the restaurant, on 10/08 it was 7:35pm and the head chef wasn't going to make any more sushi. I didn't understand why the restaurant was open! Such a beautiful restaurant handed over to lazy people. Because of this, many restaurants are closed.

I arrived at the restaurant at 7pm and it closes at 9:30pm and I simply had to choose the options that were left on the shelf. Literally the rest, there were only vegan options and the restaurant refused to prepare the menu options. It would be better to close the door. The time draws my attention, it was 2 hours before closing. Unfortunately, my son didn't want to.

Absolutely love this itsu. The food is always amazing and the service is great.

I was happy with my meal at itsu. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was excellent.

Simple but good Japanese food. Easy ordering and combo meals are good value. The main and lemon ice water is refreshing. Plenty of seating.

Noodles were good and ready almost immediately. You can order using a computer interface which I liked. Service was good and the restaurant was clean and had a relaxed atmosphere.

Horrible place. The whole self service experience is terrible & then a woman who clearly hates her job ‘serves’ you.

Absolutely freezing in the entire place. I have given them a two star instead of the one star I felt like giving because it seemed quite clean. I needed to be advised on allergens but the waiter just thrust the allergen menu at me and it’s hard to follow plus the description on the paper menu didn’t exactly match the computer. Anyhow, I hoped I ordered the one that didn’t have gluten but then my husband and I couldn’t tell which chicken and rice dish he had ordered compared to mine so we had to take the plates back to ask which was which. By the time we started eating our food was pretty much stone cold. And my chicken looked very unattractive. No sauce over it. Looked like it might have been steamed. Not much flavour and at the same time that rather off putting smell of boiled chicken. All in all a mediocre and disappointing experience.

I must say first time when I had Itsu in London I quite enjoyed it, not sure if my opinion changed cause it’s a different location or the quality of ingredients was so poor in my order yesterday, dry rice, the salmon wasn’t great either, and it’s pricy for the low quality also, won’t be coming back

Safe bet for fast microwave safe westernised Japanese food.

The quantity of salmon on the nigiri is getting so poor that is getting transparent. See picture untouched attached as I received my box from the counter. Poor diversity, at least before they had rolls with wasabi Mayo. Salmon and tuna is not feeling that fresh either.

Gimmicky, like a far east McDonald's. Food is very overpriced and not brilliant. Ok for a quick bite on the way to the football at Reading FC.

If you like grey chicken, cold food (that’s advertised as hot) & food that’s clearly come out of a packet then Itsu is the place for you. Shocking experience and daylight robbery at £22. Only positive was easy parking. Will never be back.

Good quality food. We got takeaway and it was easy to order at the interactive screens and collect.

Been coming here for some time and seen it deteriorate with dishes getting more expensive. You shouldn’t really need to go home and have a sandwich after spending £30 on food. Disappointed I’m afraid. On the plus side - the food was prepared very promptly, staff are friendly and there was easy parking.

My place to go for spoiling myself with the best sushi set in the area.

Great food taste with nice environment

Itsu is fairly priced and the food is yummy. I was at the one in Reading near BnQ, stopped after shopping and had the loveliest meal.

Not my normal sort of pre-match venue for a bite to eat but what a find this place was ! Fresh food at fair prices and served swiftly in a nice environment. Very handy for Reading FC matches. I finished the afternoon with a sour taste in my mouth but that was nothing to do with Itsu and everything to do with our game tactics...Smashing restaurant and very highly recommended.

Asian food meets Mcdonald. Order on a screen and wait for the food to be "prepared " and go collect. No service so to speak of. Fast food. Food was OK, quite pricey for no table service. Katsu curry, teriyaki chicken, sushi, gyoza...

Looking a bit tired...but the rides are great

I was really, really disappointed with my Veggie Meatball Coconut soup, which didn't have any soup, had some old and stale looking greens and didn't have any seeds. The Reading town centre Itsu has always provided amazing food so I'm really unhappy with the meal I received at the Reading Retail Park branch and it's put me off Itsu a lot!

Nice, clean restaurant but the food was lacking flavour and was pulled out of the refrigerator. We had sushi and sashimi and it just wasn't fresh and tasty. The Edamame were served out of the pods which was odd and trickier to eat.

The veggie meatballs in coconut soup is AMAZING, the veggie Dragon Roll DIVINE! And I LOVE the gyoza too, all so DELICIOUS! ❤️

Delicious but quite expensive. Food is made very quickly. Only two minutes wait time.

A great place for a quick and very tasty meal. A large selection of oriental dishes. Orders are placed at touch screen stations. If there is any problem, you can ask the staff for help. With full kindness, patience and a smile on their faces, they provide professional help. Waiting time not too long. It's really worth visiting there while shopping in the nearby stores.

First time for me. Service was quick and environment very pleasant. Sensible portions, though we went a bit mad with ordering lots of stuff so we didn't finish it all. A great alternative to your standard fast food joint

Not the best experience we have ever had and the food was over powered with sugary sauce. The chicken wasn't great either. Dull atmosphere with no welcome and food served in paper cups and plastic wrappers even though we dined in. Very expensive for fast take away microwaved food. First and last time coming here.

The sushi could use more variety of fish, also the buns and gyōza are pretty bland. Otherwise the place is nice and the main dishes are tasty.

Fresh tasty sushi. Great chicken broth bowls (always spill it down my top every time I eat it, it's impossible not to spill down your top but good). I've been here a couple times to pick up a takeaway. Makes a nice change from burgers and super deep fried chicken. It's 5 minutes walk away from where I live so total bonus. Recommend the food and the venue. Now I've written this I want more sushi ...

It was our first and last time visit, our little one got sick from the day we visited and we were two adults get our stomach upset its like we wasted our money staff was quite rude day after we called and spoke to manager he didn't pay attention and didn't listen to us carefully he was so rude on call and seems like he didn't care and didn't even try to solve the problem or even listen and try to improve it, It was the worst experience ever , I will never recommend anyone.

Awful food… literally could get a better meal in a petrol station. Purchase Itsu products from the supermarket but this is awful, thrown together in seconds and undercooked. Wouldn’t ever go back and didn’t eat the food. When you order a Wagamama off wish!

The hot food portions have reduced drastically. While the flavour was good, it was nowhere near as good as what is served in town itsu. The restaurant is lovely. Surprisingly well kept, and pleasant ambience.
