Visited on Saturday, place was obviously understaffed despite plenty of seats empty. Maybe they need to bring back ordering from a QR code. Missed the taps they used to have for fresh water too. Katsu curry ok Miso soup with a paper spoon not appreciated as the spoon melted into the soup before I could finish it Katsu sushi sando poor, would be better with sauce Just overall really underwhelming and I’ve had better from this chain before

My son loves sushi so we bought him the Yo! Sushi School experience at Yo! Southampton. He absolutely loved it, Dave and his team made sure that he was made very welcome, and in a small group of 8, taught him how to create various sushi dishes. For anyone that loves sushi, this is a great experience, no matter how competent you are in the kitchen. The Yo! team are brilliant teachers, and you take home all the food that you make (which is a lot!) Thanks Dave and well done Yo!

My wife bought my son and I seats at a sushi making lesson at Yo Sushi West Quay for Christmas. The lesson was really informative and entertaining. Dave, who led the lesson, was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. He was consistently available for help and advice without hovering or being overbearing and gave great constructive comments when either my son or I had problems, encouraging us to learn with guidance rather than by rote. Having only failed miserably at making sushi at home myself previously, Dave had me making sushi rolls I was proud of in less than half the time we had, and he helped me improve after that as well! The sushi itself was great, and my son and I will be trying to make some at home soon!

I must start off with the fact we use to LOVE yo sushi. But I have to say the last 2 visits have been horrible, 1st time we waited over 30 mins for our food when the restaurant was quiet. 2nd time which was yesterday, 28/10/2023 it took 10+ minutes to be seated and we stood and watched both the manager and a second member of staff walking around stacking glasses *they did look over and see the que of people* but there was no desire to seat customers and the restaurant wasn't overly busy, we ordered our food, at a price of £45 all of our street food dishes were served at different times. We even watched the chefs cook dishes for other tables that had arrived after us before even serving our dishes. Some took so long I had to ask them to give me fresh rice as it had been sat on my table for 10 minutes and gone cold before the other dishes arrived. We ordered 2 cokes, they bought over bottles and disappeared. I had to go and ask for glasses, napkins and soy sauce dishes at the back of the restaurant and walking to my table another customer poked me and asked for service as they had been waiting too. I politely told them that I am not staff and they were absolutely horrified and we're very sorry. I took one dish off the belt at 4.90 We were charged £55 in total for a £45 food and drink order and one £4.90 dish. I think we will be avoiding these from now on.

Good food if a bit expensive but I suppose that’s eating out these days. The children enjoyed watching the kitchen in action and…., a conveyor belt bringing food?? Result! Background sound of the shopping centre makes for a nice atmosphere. If Mr. Front of house had paid more attention to his customers and less time talking to his mates it would have much improved the visit.

Arrived for lunch. Couldn’t get their QR code ordering system to work. Oh our wi fi doesn’t work so well. You need to log on to Wagamama’s or McDonald’s!! So said the waitress! Great! So tried to log on to wags, along with 50,000 other Wags fans!! Duh! Now getting seriously hungry. Asked the “manager” for help - she was waaay to busy trying to help a load of other people order from the paper menu as they were having trouble as well. Tried to catch her eye to even get a copy of the menu to look at but she turned a professional blind eye. Sat for 15 minutes waiting for help. Nobody interested, so I got up and left. V hungry and pi**ed off. Went to good old wags and had a fabulous lunch after a long wait in the queue. Well worth it! At least we were given menus to look at. The difference between the two outfits is huge. Yo used to have an interesting belt, was super quick to seat and order etc. now it is a very very mediocre, pain in the ass, staggeringly expensive waste of time. If you compare the “bigger bowl” at Yo with one of the meals at Wags ( and any number of other places) you will see straight away that Yo has lost its way and no longer represents either value for money nor a rewarding eating experience. We, as a family are furious at this decline, because we have been loyal frequent customers at Yo, all over the place - and now it’s just not worth visiting. My advice - best to avoid. My advice to Yo - sort yourselves out - especially this dreadful example at West Quay. The whole operation is doing untold damage to your brand!

I used to spend a fortune in Yo! it was always a shopping day treat (ever since I was a teenager!) I’ve got photos of me with shopping bags from all over the country, spanning literally a decade! However, after today I will not be going back. It has lost all its charm, quirkiest and quality. Ordering through an app is fine, we have adapted to it - but the loss of the full conveyor of sushi, lack of sashimi, drastically reduced portion sizes and complete removal of all customer service I fear is the beginning of the end for this brand. The auto-tick on gratuity is laughable, with the exception of being shown to your seat - you don’t actually interact with anyone. No servers, no clearers, no service. The hot food was cold and the rolls were half the size (and 25% more expensive) - it was honestly about the worst lunch experience I’ve had in a long time. It is such a massive shame.

Yo! has always been about the novelty. Now it appears you're expected to book. We were a walk-in and were seated after a 5 minute wait, but not before some strained looks. The place was almost empty. The server was OK but he was trying to deal with customers & delivery driver pick-ups too, all on his own. We needed him a couple of times as dishes didn't arrive at the table via the automated system as they should have, but it was hard to get his attention. Once the chef called him over for us. The fun & novelty have gone. There is nothing on the belt now, you order by scanning a QR code on your table that opens a web page. You navigate a menu, pay and then your food should arrive at your table by the conveyor belt. It all comes at once: the spontaneity has gone. The automated system makes the dishes you've ordered stop by your table. A traffic light system is there to tell you when something is on its on its way and when it's arrived. That's about as fun as it gets. The ordering process is onerous. With limited signal it was slow. It took 22 minutes to make and submit an order. You pay for each set of dishes every time you order. This meant for us, that we spent a lot of time staring into the screen of our phones, trying to navigate the confusing menu rather than interacting with each other. This made for a tedious experience. Fiddling around on a phone at the table is often frowned upon - a blight of modern life maybe - but here you have no choice. There were long silences whilst the other went through the slow frustrating process. I was all for leaving and going elsewhere. Some of the dishes we ordered we're unavailable and we were asked to choose others. We weren't told this before we started the ordering process, so another long look at the difficult-to-navigate slow-loading menu. Others didn't arrive. We could see what was probably ours on the belt, going round but it didn't stop by us. Others had similar problems. After the tiresome experience of ordering and getting our food, we only did it once, then left. The food we did get was good, but the dining experience was not and it's not cheap. I was a regular. I've been away from Yo! for a while (some enforced by COVID of course and perhaps this has induced the change), but now, I won't go back unless they improve the table experience.

Last time we visited this place in 2018, I was saying nothing but good things about this place. Now? It’s rubbish! I think Covid has crushed most of the life out of it, but some basic things are inexcusable. Like access, for example… Why, when there is only one accessible area in the restaurant, would you let someone sit there who didn’t need to. When the rest of the restaurant was 99% empty? That area should remain free for those who need it. The kids and I had to sit on the high stools adjacent, whilst my friend had to sit at the lower section and share the table with a stranger. We didn’t feel like one party at all. Awkward all round. Our initial (completely disinterested) server, also tried to lead us down an impossibly narrow aisle to one of the booths to start off with. There was no room to transfer from a wheelchair to one of the seats, even if my friend had wanted to attempt it. We were never asked at any point where we’d like to sit, or what they could do to help accommodate us. Our second server was a little more engaging, but only when I physically went to get them to take our order. I couldn’t get a signal to place an order online by scanning the QR code and they never checked it was working for us. It also wasn’t until we tried to find some of the dishes online that we realised there was a vastly reduced menu from the printed copy they gave us on entry. Nobody mentioned that when we got our table. The food was okay, but nothing special. Expensive for what you got. Handed across the conveyor belt, rather than put in it. Soooo, what’s the point of the conveyors belt then? That’s the main part of the attraction to Yo! Sushi, surely? That and the bells you could press to place an order. Also gone. The online menu is a farce. Nothing in a logical place, or order. So hard to navigate. The woman sitting in the accessible space we needed spilled her drink all over the floor before she left and nobody cleared it up the entire time we were there. We just sat in it anyway to all be together, but it wasn’t pleasant. Wish we’d never visited this time to be honest - and we shan’t again. £37.00 down the drain and kids still hungry when we left. Needless to say, we didn’t leave a tip.

I used to love the way yo sushi worked with the conveyer and being able to try something that came past your table as well as ordering from the menu, it was part of the whole reason I would choose to go to yo sushi. But now the place is cold and has no atmosphere, there is barely any interaction from the staff, the place looks like nobody cares about it and they are just waiting for it to close down. I’m aware covid made the restaurant industry change how they do things but surely the way yo sushi has decided to do it is counter productive. Customers now have to do everything themselves via an app and then yo sushi stick a 7.5% service charge on top of that, for staff only to put a tray on a conveyer belt and it do the whole 5 minute lap of the restaurant before getting to your table, when if they had walked to your table it would of taken under a minute and I would of been happy with paying a service charge because they had actually provided a service! Safe to say I won’t be wasting my money at Yo Sushi anymore and I’m sad to see this wonderful company soon die out and only be available in Tesco to grab and go.

The food is fast food sushi, the food is average. But I feel the plates are very small for the money. Its easy to eat a fair few plates worth but once you add this up it becomes more expensive than a decent sushi restaurant whom serve a decent size portion. I visited this branch of Yo! Sushi on a visit to Southampton and left pretty disappointed; I don’t think I’d visit again and wouldn’t recommend it to others. The conveyor belt that moves found around the diners had very little actual sushi on it for at least an hour, to the point where I had to call the hostess to order some basic sushi rolls. And I’ll reiterate, this wasn’t me ordering a set dish, like a teriyaki or a noodle bowl, this was for California rolls and cucumber maki! All that was on the conveyor was dessert or the most expensive salmon and tuna nigiri. Top that with a server who was pretty abrupt in the way she talked to me and it made for a pretty dismal late lunch. If you’re going to be a sushi restaurant giving choice off of the conveyor belt, you need to be sure there is sushi on it. Yo! Sushi? More like No Sushi!

When it first opened it was a fantastic place, however over the years it's really been tailing off. The restaurant as a whole needs to be refurbished as things are slowly but surely breaking. Over time it's lost the atmosphere which used to come with You! Sushi.

So I ordered a meal online because the estimated time of delivery was one of the shortest (between 30 to 40 min). I end up waintg 1hour and 40 minutes for my food! Totally not recomended if ordering with deliveroo!

Visited while they had a £3 deal on a number of blue plates which thought would be good. After visiting Yo in Whiteley before Christmas and having a poor experience I decided to go to the one at West Quay.

Last time I came here was on a blue monday with my sister. I felt like the portions were enough and pretty good value at £3 per plate. It meant we could taste everything and did not have to commit to one dish, especially as we are not hugely knowledgable of Japanese food and didn't recognise all of the ingredients. Would 100% visit again but I would only go on a monday as I feel like it's the only time you actually get value for money. Normal menu seems overpriced but there is more items on the menu. Food was delicious and the staff were very quick to cater to your needs and deliver drinks.

I'm not a fan of sushi but my wife is and they do have some nice vegetarian and chicken options. I would just say that for the portion size and quality of the food, I would only ever go on a Monday when some of the plates are reduced. It's really expensive otherwise.

Situé à l’intérieur du centre commercial, ce restaurant japonais est sympa. Vous choisissez les plats qui sont faits devant vous et défilent sur un tapis roulant. Bon, rapide et peu onéreux.

I have been going to Yo Sushi for years, and each visit I can discover something new. There is so much there and the staff are really welcoming to you, the Chefs are always there to help when you're in a pickle as to what to try. And there always ends up being something for everyone there.

The food is absolutely incredible at Yo Sushi! Southampton- I’ve been quite a few times now, however I won’t be in a hurry to return after the poor service I received on this occasion. We ordered two sets of fries and only one set came, after 20 minutes we asked the chef for another set and after another 20- 30 minutes still no sign of the fries. We eventually got the second set of fries after just under an hour of waiting when all the other food was finished with and we had to ask the server again. Quite disappointed.

No volvera

It was a quick lunch break but definitely a fun and tasty experience. Yo Sushi as a chain has similar standards everywhere so we knew what we were expecting and actually every dish was quite good. If you are a vegetarian you can find a good variety of dishes and you should visit if you are up for quick Japanese cuisine.

My little family visit Yo! at least once a month but if our budget would allow we would go more. It’s a hugely tasty and convenient way of grabbing lunch on the go. We’ve been to various Yo! restaurants as we travel around the country but this one is the best. The food is always so fresh, the place is really clean and the staff are super friendly. Look out for Blue Monday, Green Wednesday and take advantage of the Defences Discount.

I was excited to try Yo Sushi we waited for ten minutes to be seated. With a lack of front of house staff when someone did arrive it took a while for us to be seated. As the restaurant was busy and we could only sit at the bar which was fine. The waitress did not explain how the restaurant worked leaving me unconfident in my choice. The menu was explained well with good colours and themes but it was unclear how to order food.We tried a view raw dishes like the sliced beef with was delightful. With a delicious herbal twist with the beef.Being delicate and tender with the sushi being rolled in a sloppy manner being a little to spicy the unlimited.Water was definitely as necessary for this visit. We decided to order some more dishes from the menu like panko prawns and chilli calamari. The order took a while to arrive with our button being pressed for a while with staff being unprofessional and laughing and joking around the area was a mess with napkins on the floor.I understand it was a busy period but the restaurant should be neat and tidy. The dessert was the best part of the meal with the charcoal epresso ice cream balls being delightful and different with the chocolate balls being delicious too. With the poor service but good quality food it makes hard to visit this branch again.Due to the lack of professionalism and service standards.

Twice now my daughter and I have had to waited in a long queue for over half an hour at lunchtime to be seated even though there were obvious tables and seats at the bar available. Service is very slow and staff are rude. There was very limited food available today even after we had sat down. You even have to pay for tap water which is unacceptable .

The new cafe round the corner was fully booked (Saturday lunchtime) so we tried here - but wish we hadn't. Ordered two Welsh rarebits, paid and sat a table. After a while someone came over and said they only had one left so we changed the second to a cheese and ham toastie. After an eternity they finally came - the rarebit was flat and just tasted of melted cheese with a bit of ham - no flavour. You would think at Waitrose they would use decent ham but no, the ham in the toastie was just the thin, processed type. We left distinctly underwhelmed and won't go again.
