FOH staff seem very distracted and away with the fairies, when they do finally come and see you they are very polite and informative. The location is awful very noisy right in the centre of the mall and what looks like a very awkward to work in set up. Kitchen made good food but need training on presenting themselves the female chef brings over my noodles as half of it started to fall out she grabs noddles with her bare hands and puts it back in the bowl…grim. Overall cleanliness is average with the seating looking a bit of a mess with menus and leaflets all a bit scruffy if I’m honest. Food wise I’ve had a lot worse at legit Japanese sushi bars feels a bit like the McDonald’s of the sushi world.

I went into YO sushi yesterday, got to say was sceptical before my visit due to the reviews but have to admit it was DEVINE! I had a lovely young lady called Lauren who served me, she had a lovely smile and was very happy and accommodating to all my allergies! Her striking sense of humour really drew me in and we had a right laugh (as she would say). I often get nervous about going into restaurants alone but Lauren made the loneliness bearable. The food was gorgeous and was created by a lovely man called Nate (hope that’s right lauren told me). Lovely to see a northern lass down in these parts as I have a fond liking of Blackpool leisure beach. YO is the place to GO 😊👌🏻 thanks again lauren, see you soon!

Il nous a fallu d’abord attendre un long moment avant de pouvoir s’asseoir à une table équipée collait et où restait des déchets . La , on nous a servi à boire dans des verres très sales ! Le personnel n’est malheureusement pas formé ! Nous avons commandé des Maki il a fallu 45 minutes pour les avoir ! Le riz était chaud , c était vraiment pas bon . Sur le tapis roulant , très peu de choix . Les tables étaient aussi très sales et collaient . Manque de propreté . Les plats sont devenus très très chers.

Pre covid this was great, post covid they're clearly reluctant to deal with actual customers. Bookings only, only four or five tables at a time, have to order on your phone while the staff stand next to you, no conveyor and the kitchen clearly prioritising takeway and delivery orders.The menu is also much reduced. Not sure why they bother opening to the public at all really.

Having been here before I had always enjoyed Yo, but this recent experience was very disappointing. The new experience of ordering on your phones isn’t ideal. Our food came 20 minutes apart, meaning we had to eat separately. When I asked the waiter about my food ( who was hard to find) we were told had ran out and had to get more. If we were told this we would’ve waited together for our food. The food itself was disappointing, soggy chicken (described as a chopped up chicken burger) and bland sauce, the food and service has dropped massively. The only thing that’s gone up is the price.

Booked table a week ago for 6.45 as we had cinema tickets. Get a call 3 hours before booking telling me booking can be cancelled or you need to be here for 6 and order all food by 6.15.I cancelled and we will go elsewhere to have a birthday evening.

Booked a table for Sunday afternoon and was seated after waiting for 10 minutes. This restaurant never seems to have enough staff working and the staff that do work are never to be seen. Eventually manage to get the menu to load as the free WiFi doesn’t work and phone signal is hard to get in drake circus. The menu is severely reduced and the last two times I’ve been now they’ve had no noodles. No noodles at midday in a Japanese restaurant seriously? Reluctantly tried to place an order but the website wouldn’t take my payment even though I tried 3 times. No staff around to speak to or place a manual order. After half an hour of being sat there trying to place order or find staff, I got up and left. I used to love this place and come here often when at uni but I won’t be coming here again. Miserable and useless staff, an order system that doesn’t work properly and a menu with bugger all on it. Waste of time.

Loved eating at this yo sushi! Staff were so kind to give us 2 free desserts for Christmas and my friends birthday and even opened up the kitchen again to cook our order though they were closing. Prices can be expensive if you order a lot but that’s standard with eating out. However, the food was so delicious aswell. Will come again :)) so thank you guys.

We love visiting Yo Sushi when we’re in Plymouth but we were shocked by the dirt that we saw. Sadly we won’t be returning to this location. The food was good but when we looked around the place it put us off. Food underneath our table, dirty conveyor belt, a dirty sink where clean plate covers were stored and put over our food! We had no chopsticks/cutlery on our table so we asked for some but it never came so we had to find our own from another table. We discreetly told a member of staff our concerns about hygiene and they said they would speak to the manager. Cue a lot of staring and whispering from the staff and a sudden urge to sweep all the food that had earlier been wiped on the floor! The manager never came to speak to us. When I asked the member of staff if she’d spoken to the manager she said she had but he’d said he was too busy to speak to us about our concerns. We finally got to speak to the manager as we were leaving and his first response was “If you don’t like it, you shouldn’t eat here!” That won’t be an issue from now on, plenty of other restaurants to try in Plymouth!

First time visiting with family. 3 plates followed by 3 cans of fizzy almost £40!. Over priced or what!! Food came out at stupidly different times. I had eaten mine before my families meals had arrived. You come to eat out as a family to actually eat together and not watch eachother eat?? Food portions were so small! I left just as hungry as when I came in. Justify charging almost £3 for a 330ml can of coke zero. And adding a 17 percent minimum additional charge for what? It's all done via an app and belt! Staff didnt even speak, 1 was rude when asking for instructions as first visit. Food was okay but wouldn't justify spending it again.

I love Yo Sushi, its one of my favourite places so when I saw there was one in Plymouth I was happy. I got in queue and wait about 5/10 minutes to be rudely greeted by what looked like the manager ‘have you booked?’ No hello or apology for the wait. No I haven’t booked, He advised there was no tables. In the end I ordered online and took it with me because I love the food but even getting the take out was difficult and long. I understand it is busy but I won’t be returning to the Plymouth restaurant.

Being trip advisor this is a 'buyer beware' piece of advice!We popped by Yo! whilst shopping to pick up a bit of food to fend off hunger until later. By the entrance there's a chiller cabinet with various pre-prepared sushi rolls and other sundries.We picked up some crunchy California rolls and cucumber maki, then the server tapped them in to the iPad that places the order and takes payment.I noticed that the prices appearing on the screen were higher than the prices that had been advertised on the shelf. Quite considerably higher!Questioned this with the server and she went off to see her manager, then returned saying that it was adding on VAT at 20%. We put the food back as thought it was dishonest not to sell it at the price advertised on the shelf! I've no idea why they're displaying food prices ex-vat, but wanted to make other potential customers aware that your charge may be higher than expected.

This is a bit of a mixed review - in a nutshell great food and not bad value for money, but severely let down by a clunky ordering system and inattentive staff..We turned up having booked a table and waited about 5 minutes for someone to come greet us and show us to our table next to the sushi belt.Ordering now is via a website - you have to scan a QR code at your table and then order via the website. Great if you have a smartphone and it has battery.....Once on to the website it's a bit painful to find the dishes, there's no search function and if you want 2 of the same you have to find it again and add it to your basket again.Then it comes up that you have to create an account to order.....you can't just order without signing up to the website.Next step is checkout. It automatically adds a 5% service charge, even though you're served by a robotic belt! You can decline this but if you exit to add something else then go back in it's added back on again.This as also the point at which you enter any discount codes. If you have a blue light card you can get 25% off, make sure you have your code ready in the vault.Here comes the kicker - the website will only accept Google Pay - you can't enter card details or pay via PayPal. Luckily I have Google pay but for some reason it wouldn't work.Managed to eventually get the attention of the server who seemed more interested in her iPad than the customer and explained the issue. She said it happens a lot. We could order via her but wouldn't be able to apply our 25% discount. Pretty poor if the fault lies with their system. Before giving in we tried on my partners phone but had the same issue.Another 5 minutes of trying to getting the server's attention and we eventually manually placed an order at full price. She did upgrade one dish to a large one, but didn't really make up for the time lost and lack of discount.The food did arrive pretty quickly, stopping at our table on the belt which has a traffic light system and was very tasty which sort of made up for the stress of before. Hot food was well cooked and good portion sizes.We left having eaten and tried to say goodbye to our greeter, but she was head down in her iPad again.All in all it was good food but the taste slightly spoiled by poor customer experience and very poor IT systems.

I'm not one to complain or even Write reviews for that matter, however the experience at this yo sushi had to be the worst I've had in a VERY long time. From servers spending most of their time talking to other staff who are on break instead of paying attention to their work which led to mistakes with out order aswel as a very very subpar meal. The worst thing by far had to be finding hair in my food. There seems to be a lack of food hygene, when I complained about the hair in my food the server rolled their eyes at me took the plate and didn't say a word. I will add we were one of only two tables in the restaurant at this point so being "busy"is by far no excuse. All in all if you want a quality dining experience with good food and service go somewhere else you will not find it here.

Heads up people, currently Yo cannot accept The Restaurant Choice Gift Card as you can only order via mobile ordering which requires a credit or debit card, despite the app having an option for gift cards, The Restaurant Gift Card apparently has to be manually swiped, Other than this issue, the food was excellent and would definitely recommendThe Manager at Yo gave us a complimentary chocolate cheesecake as a sorry for not being able to use the gift card which was a nice surprise and shows that Yo provide excellent customer service

Yo! Sushi never fails to disappoint. The restaurant continuously delivers quality food every time we visit. As with everything, the service has had changed to how it was before the pandemic; in my opinion, for the better. The food chain has still managed to incorporate the conveyer belt in its service, using a traffic light system to indicate which plates of food are yours when they travel around the curcuit. You are now required to order your food via your phone or smart device; which for people who are not talented at navigating these, like my mother, is quite problematic. It took her and I quite a time to come to grips with this but the overall experience made this minor inconvenience negligible. The way they handled customer safety (due to the virus) was adequate. It is quite understandable that there is only so much they can do due to the premises lack of space. However one point the could have improved on is the covering of the food, because as the food travels past dozens of unmasked people eating their food bacteria will spread, simply covering dishes would quickly rectify this issue. Apart from that, our trip was absolutely sublime, we will definitely be returning soon.

Qué experiencia tan maravillosa tuvimos mi madre y yo el 5/9/20. Preguntamos sobre la reserva, pero nos dijeron que no podíamos, lo cual estaba bien. Regresamos unos 30 minutos después para comer y todos los puestos estaban ocupados, esto no fue un problema. La señora que nos acomodó fue muy amable, cabello rubio hasta los hombros y gafas. Ella estaba visiblemente empática al ver a mi madre tratando de subirse a uno de los taburetes, una vez más no hicimos un escándalo, sin embargo, regresó tan pronto como hubo un reservado para asegurarse de que mi madre estuviera más cómoda, lo cual fue extremadamente dulce. Nuestro camarero, que solo puedo adivinar que era bastante joven con el pelo corto grisáceo (máscaras se esconde mucho) fue igualmente agradable. Se ofreció a llevarnos nuestras bebidas al stand y fue amable, conversador y atento durante toda nuestra visita. La comida era deliciosa, todo está hecho a pedido y obviamente no hay cinta transportadora actualmente, pero no afectó el viaje. Recomiendo encarecidamente el pollo coreano (dulce, pegajoso con una patada suave) y los calamares con sal y guindilla.

¡Decidimos probar YO! Sushi en Plymouth hoy, fue una experiencia bastante mala. El distanciamiento social no fue muy bueno y tampoco la comida. El sushi japonés debe presentarse en su mejor momento, desafortunadamente la comida que tuvimos hoy no lo fue. Hubo muy poca uniformidad en la presentación, los porciones de roles eran diferentes e incluso se perdieron uno de los elementos que deberían haber estado en la selección. Cenamos aquí ayer, un miércoles a la hora del almuerzo como parte del plan de comer fuera para ayudar, y quedamos impresionados por las nuevas medidas en vigor.Reservamos y conseguimos una cabina / mesa adecuada en lugar de estar sentado en el cinturón, lo cual era agradable. Con el nuevo menú reducido, todavía hay una gran selección de platos disponibles, incluidos muchos de nuestros favoritos como el calamar picante y los clásicos rollos maki, YO roll, etc. El servicio fue sorprendentemente rápido, incluso cuando pedimos varios platos calientes a la vez (Papas fritas japonesas, calabaza Katsu Curry x 2, calamar) que fue muy impresionante. Me sorprendió mucho la falta de distanciamiento social aquí, estábamos sentados a centímetros de una familia numerosa que estaba sentada frente a nosotros del otro lado de la cinta transportadora, y la cabina detrás de nosotros también estaba llena. Así que no recomiendo comer aquí si le preocupa el distanciamiento social. El personal estaba claramente sobrecargado de trabajo y había demasiada gente para las camareras, pero era amable y atento. He estado sentado aquí por más de una hora. No nos dimos cuenta de que tenías la opción de reservar con antelación, así que mi hija y yo conseguimos asientos en el bar. Media hora después de estar sentados aquí sin que nadie tomara nuestro pedido, llegó una mesa y ahora tiene su comida mientras todavía estamos sentados aquí sin nada. Arrived at 6:40 to a near-empty restaurant. Were told "last orders will be in five minutes." Challenged this, because they don't close until 8:30. Quick change of step... "Oh, we are open until 8:30, but we can only take your order in the next five minutes."Shown to a seat, waitress arrives. "Last orders are in ten minutes," she says, inadvertently extending that period by an extra five minutes. "By the way," she continues, "we don't have any chicken, any teriyaki, or any beef..." That's almost the whole menu.Was obvious from arrival that staff just wanted to knock off early on a Friday night, despite the prospect of paying customers. Abysmal service; what sort of eatery calls last orders an hour and fifty minutes before closing. Trip Advisor is one thing. Let's see what the CEO reckons...

Fuimos un sábado a popa a fines de enero. Menos de diez platos dando vueltas y vueltas con aproximadamente 25 comensales. Tres empleados trabajando a un ritmo pobre, totalmente disfuncional con una espera de 30 minutos para los platos fríos ordenados. El chef de sushi no podía trabajar a ninguna velocidad o tarea múltiple, era doloroso verlo. Lamentablemente, sabíamos esto cuando lo pedimos, convencidos por el servidor de que el calor sería bastante rápido, que era y era bueno, que era el miembro del personal que hacía sushi el que necesitaba agarrarse o un trabajo diferente.

if you hate fish, guess what you can still go here and avoid that, the only thing I would say is possibly you may have to hold tight for a long wait to be sat if its busy and maybe avoid the fruit salad as its like £5 for a few fruit, but eveyrone makes there choices, food there is good and a nice lunch snack

Good place for lunch whilst out shopping. Able to sit at the sushi bar for 5 of us. Nice friendly and relaxed service. We were seated near to the chef’s station so could see the preparation that went into each of the dishes, those guys work hard. Good food and quick once the hot food started coming out.

Up drinking from breakfast watching the first two RWC 1/4 finals so come evening we were in no state to cook supper or eat out. Never tried a delivery from the sushi bar in Drake Circus so this was the time.

We left hungry and had to find food elsewhere. The manager cared as much about his customers as he did his un-ironed shirt. AVOID AND DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

After many visits to the Drake's Circus shopping mall and taking in all the wonderful smells of the sushi from Yo! I decided to give it a try. Wish I hadn't! The only dishes that contained anything worth trying were the expensive ones. The lower priced plates just had piles of vegetables on them. Looking at the menu, there was much more selection even in the lower priced plates. The waiter who showed me to my seat didn't offer me a drink nor was anyone around to see if I wanted a noodle dish.

I've eaten hear a few times but never felt the need to review until now. On Saturday I ate here with a few friends and we all felt the service was exceptional even though the staff were extremely busy. Gary, our server, made a point of explaining that they were busy but he never seemed stressed or snappy. I will definitely be bringing more friends here in the future. Oh and the food was exellent.

Un visitante por primera vez en el Plymouth Mall Yo Sushi Restaurant y un primer contador de tiempo para comer sushi. Estaba muy ocupado, pero me encontraron un asiento en el bar y me hicieron sentir bienvenido. Le dije al personal que nunca había comido sushi antes, así que me preguntaron qué tipo de cosas me gustaban. We were passing Yo Sushi with Grand daughter (8) who loves Sushi, (in Drakes Circus), but cannot have Gluten. Stopped to enquire and one of the staff said they could cater for her. We said we would return. We did return the same day and found that Nick had remembered us, and not only that but had prepared a menu easy to view for all plates that could be ordered for her. He looked after her so well, and made it very easy to order without any worries. Incredible service and great customer awareness of those requiring special orders.. Thanks Nick and team., We will be back! Mixture of hot and cold dishes.

A group of my friends and I went for an early dinner on Sunday to take advantage of the student deal. It is safe to say I have NEVER in my life experienced service as pathetic, abysmal and offending as I experienced here. The staff were lazy and more concerned with their free donuts than actually doing their job. Instead of attending to us they danced past throwing glasses and menus in the air and avoiding eye contact. After finally grabbing one of them, we ordered and then waited 50 minutes before asking after our food as it had not turned up. In the end we left instead of waiting what was likely to be another 30 minutes.

Service was terrible, granted the restaurant was very busy, but staff were ignorant and rude. We ordered a few hot dishes, after waiting 20 minutes we chased them up. We were then told they were being made now and would be there shortly. After this and being constantly ignored when the button was pressed, lead us to give up with the rest of our food and pay. When we told the waiter the problems we had he said that everyone was waiting a long time for food and that was how it worked, no apology and very rude attitude. All waiting staff were totally unprofessional and it was clear none of them wanted to be there as they decided to shut the kitchen over an hour before the restaurant closed. I have now had three bad experiences in this restaurant and now I won't be returning.

We were taught about how they prepare the food, the sustainability of it as well as getting tasters throughout and left happily fed! We visited the restaurant on Saturday lunchtime as we wanted to advantage of free kids to dine in as everyone likes an offer. Have numerous times purchased the salmon platter to take way for my 3 year old who loves raw fish, so seating in was a real treat for the rest of the family. Again ordered the salmon platter which I understand would not be on the same value as the take out due to tax purposes, staff costs etc etc but we were sadly disappointed to be served at least half the salmon portions. The ‘thick’ salmon was no bigger than my daughters thumbs, to be fair she could of made a better job of the sushi. The salmon on top were paper thin. Have written twice to the Head Chef and both times she couldn’t understand what I was trying to explain without photographs. What has happened to the world... does everyone live on Instagram. Next time we will be going to an actual Japanese restaurant... Waste of money and time.

I was very displeased after my recent visit. I asked to be seated in a booth, to which the waiter sarcastically chimed ‘ well that is how a resteraunt works, you sit down and they give you a menu’. Uneccesary and quite frankly rude. He took us to an unclean table that still had the rubbish from previous customers on the table and on the chairs. After he cleaned it up whilst we stood to the side, we finally sat down. We were told to press the light once we decided our order, we did so two times and still no one came to take our order. For already apparent poor service and rude staff, we didn’t fancy sushi anymore. So we upped and left, really the waiter should be disappointed with his attitude, appalling.

Not only do i adore Yo! I ADORE the staff at the Yo! in Drake Circus. They are always so lovely and fast at delivering wonderful customer care. The food is always perfect, but that's just the high standard of Yo! and I will always go back. With fresh menus, you can never become bored of these tasty treats. Many people comment on price, but they have incredible deals like Blue Monday and very generous discounts for students.

My partner and I are frequent costumers to the YO! sushi in Drakes Circus and we love the staff there. Pretty much everyone who serves us is polite, informative and full of excellent banter. As of late, we have been served on the regular by a lady named Ance, I have a particularly cold sense of humour and she totally gets it, had me and my partner laughing and leaving with a smile every time. Today, we were notified of vegan dishes that are due to hit the menu even though they were not yet on the said menu, this meant that she not only remembered but felt it appropriate to inform us of new vegan goodies, FYI it was appropriate and they were awesome!

I ordered a delivery from here and was initially impressed that they rang me to tell one of my items were unavailable and offering alternatives. However the food left a lot to be desired. The Sumo Beef Tereyaki has lots of beef but was chewy, salty and seemed to be missing the sauce and the other items. The rice was really small in quantity. The fries were too small a portion for £3. More like a regular fries at a burger bar and had none of the toppings they were meant to. For nearly £17 for two items with delivery this was totally unacceptable. I’d avoid.

I have had Sushi in a lot of places so was a little disappointing. The restaurant was busy but was able to site down immediate.Its a very simple concept, you take the plates of the conveyor as they go past. Not a great deal of variety but it was fresh and tasted ok. For what we had I guess the price was reasonable and I would go again if in Plymouth.

Had to take a phone to the Apple shop and decided to grab a "quick" lunch whilst we waited for our appointment. Ordered food at about 1225hrs and finally got it just before 1pm. Meanwhile, our 3 year old was so bored that we had to grab a couple of dishes from the belt just to keep him occupied. When our order finally arrived, he wasn't interested as he had already eaten! When it arrived, the food was nice and tasty, well presented although the Japanese chip dishes were a bit sparse. I would have expected both our portions to have been one serving. All in all, the food was nice but the experience was tarnished by delay. We raised the issue with a member of the team who was apologetic and sympathetic, she took 20% off the bill which was fair and appreciated. I did notice that the table next to us made exactly the same complaint, half hour for fast food. Needs Gordon Ramsey in for the day to shout at people and get them to be more efficient.
