This place is amazing, the service is outstanding and the food delicious. Everything I tried was cooked to perfection, the flavours are truly Japanese and the ambient is cozy and warm. One of the best Japanese restaurants in Plymouth for sure. I will certainly come back / take-away again! 😁

Well...the prices are cheap for this near the centre, but...there wasn't much substance or taste. I had tempura moriarty, which is battered bits of veg with 1 piece of fish and no rice, for £10.90, and bombadil veg for £11, that had rice in it. My wife had a few slivers of chicken breast and a load of rice. Add to that 2 diet cokes and 3 mini spring rollers, that puts you South of £41 ....

Really disappointing. Food wasn't very flavoursome. Had tempura mixed fish with veg. Only 2 pieces of fish and was £10 as a starter. Teriyaki chicken, thin chicken breast and sauce thin and tasteless. Shame as that we might have found a gem

Their Tankastu Ramen is 100% the best ramen me and my girlfriend have had of all the places we've been to. I'm actually quite gutted we like to go to different places and try their ramen because I don't want to go anywhere else now it was so good here!

The food is glorious, the staff are a pleasure and the atmosphere is relaxing. This is one of the gems of Plymouth. Highly recommended!

Teriyaki Chicken was dry, sauce was watery. Will not return.

Food and service were equally all I could ask for. I have been eating a lot of sushi recently, and this is definitely the best in recent memory (...though it has been mainly discount meal deal sushi lol). I wanted eel sushi, and I got eel AND seared salmon roll, so I'm a happy birthday fella. I have been to every sushi place in Plymouth, and I do believe Oishi is the best :) Item ordered: Shibuya Uramaki

Always space inside which is a shame. A real hidden gem, may be a little pricey but the food reflects the cost. Easily the best sushi place in Plymouth, possibly even Devon.

The ramen was good. However, the agedashi tofu we ordered was not what we expected. Their tofu came with a very sweet sauce and thick batter.

Always quiet which is a shame as lovely people and great sushi. Better than overpriced yo-sushi 200m away!

Cosy family run place with simple food.

I’ve been planning this for a while. Had lunch with my teen on the 15th July, and as other reviews said it didn’t disappoint. We had the fried squid balls and seaweed salad as our starters, then a bowl of ramen and a £26 set sushi meal . All portion sizes were generous and pretty prompt coming out. The sushi that came with my set meal was pretty large compared to chain restaurants or supermarket bought, so I got full, and it was all so lovely and fresh. Outside and inside is pretty average and understated but you won’t be disappointed.

What a fantastic little restaurant! Came here for my partner's birthday lunch along with some friends and our kids. The service was polite, attentive and professional, every question was answered diligently. High quality and fresh ingredients throughout all courses, everything went down well and there was not a scrap left in sight. The katsu curry sauce was one of the best I've tried, along with some of the best cooked rice. The bento box was a bargain considering the portion size was huge and all our small plate dishes were reasonably priced too! We'll certainly be returning!

The food was a wonderful experience, service excellent and plenty of parking nearby. We all immensely enjoyed our meal and probably ate more than usual, just to savour what was, for us, the best Japanese food we have ever had in the UK. It is a small restaurant with basic amenities but keenly priced and we will definately be back.

My daughters birthday so we ordered a large lunch. Wanting to take home the majority of the food we were amazed they only allowed us 2 small takeaway dishes. Despite asking for another one they refused and said we must just squeeze all the food together. After spending £65 this left us very upset. Won't be going back

Food is always impeccable, tastes fresh and portion sizes are great. Service is always friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place to visit for sushi lovers! Lots of variety and great prices.

DO NOT USE this place through Deliveroo. They use their own drivers who are incompetent. My address is clear as day and I order through Deliveroo on a weekly basis with no issues whatsoever. We live in saltram meadows housing estate and the delivery driver opted to take the clear construction route that is closed to the public instead of looking for another way into the estate they chose to return the food to the store. The number on the receipt was a complete different one to our mobile number on the account, it even started in 020 and the driver supposedly attempted to call us a couple times before turning around. After waiting for hours we decided to Call Deliveroo who said we needed to contact the restaurant as they use their own drivers. The restaurant refused to refund us or re deliver the food as they said the road into the estate was closed but anyone with any common sense and a phone would of seen clearly how to get to our adress, like any other delivery driver or postman we’ve ever had. We’re now £25 out of pocket and no food with no help from either Deliveroo or oishi.

Occasionally would order takeaway from them when I was living there, finally went in the other day and bruh I missed this food so damn much. Ordered a tonkotsu ramen and it was so rich and good in an almost sickly way but bruh I kept eatin I definitely gotta go again tho tf

I come here once a week for a treat and I always look forward to it Welcoming staff who are always smiling and respectful every time I've been in and the food is absolutely delicious and so cheap (i rarely spend over £20 and its 2 small plates, a main, and a drink), I genuinely can't get enough of it, its almost addictive I look forward to it every week 🍲

Easily the best authentic Japanese cooking in Plymouth. Try the katsu chicken curry bento box. Great value and filling.

Good food, good price and very friendly.

A non-descript shop front just off Plymouth's main street. Do not let the decor put you off. It may be a little dated but the food is well worth it. We had a variety of starters: tempura prawns, gyoza and teriyaka. All amazingly tasty, arrived promptly and was hot. Main was a set meal of nigiri, mini rolls, uramaki and again, they were spot on. There was a good mix of octopus, sweet beancurd, salmon etc. Perfect for the three of us. Presentation was good. We also had sake and at £14 for about a half-bottle, was a nice addition to the meal. For three of us with starters, mixed platter, sake and a coke was just short of £60. I feel this is very good value. We will certainly be back again and whilst we were there, it was a busy lunch and popular and I can see why.

Yeah…I’m not coming here ever again. This just isn’t it. I’ve been here twice, the first time I just ordered some hand cut rolls and they weren’t too bad. Second time round, I dined in with some friends and when the food came out is was really disappointing. I don’t like giving bad reviews, but I’m sorry to say this wasn’t the best food experience I’ve had in Plymouth. We got an array of dishes on their menu - gyoza, two different types of donburi, sashimi, takoyaki, chicken wings, and the only thing that wasn’t that bad was the miso soup. They put too much sugar in the teriyaki chicken and chicken yakitori sauce. The chicken wings had more bone that meat and we’re the size of a pinkie. The takoyaki needed more octopus in it and the sashimi was really not fresh, and looked dull in colour. I think if you do come here, just stick to the hand cut rolls or nigiri since they are always neatly presented and the prices aren’t too bad.

It was really comforting for me to have found this place. I was dying for a sushi, and in the previous restaurant I stopped by (in the Barbican) they treated me like sh!t. Here, at oishi, they didn't pay attention to how I was dressed or that I was (obviously) wet because it had been raining since an hour earlier. They treated me just as well as any other client there. They were cordial, attentive, and my rolls were delicious and gorgeous!! I ate with my eyes!! Price is super fair and there are plenty of options for various tastes.

A nice little place with friendly staff. The food was delicious as well as being a reasonable price. They offer a large and varied selection, quite difficult to decide, would definitely visit again.

This isn't a fancy place but the food is really good and not expensive. I am really looking forward to eating here again very soon

By FAR the best sushi restaurant (and arguably the best restaurant) in Plymouth. I would always choose to order sushi from here. Such an authentic atmosphere, amazing service, the staff are exceptional. No faults

Food was okay too much rice on the rolls. Service was not very good as we went at lunchtime which had no one there Except us and it took a little while for them to serve us and getting the bill was a challenge to get their attention. Plates were still left on other tables from previous customers. The staff speak Cantonese and was commenting that all we wanted to eat was sushi. I hope the staff will be more mindful speaking in Cantonese in front of customers next time.

Service and food here is always fantastic. I've spent a great amount of time in Japan and the food here is as close as it gets and is the real deal. Polite staff who make you feel welcome and deliver an amazing experience every time I go.

A great place. Seems like a family run business. Loved their bento. I ordered take out from them before which was okay but after dining in, I am really happy with their service. Will try again for sure.

Visited for the first time today for a late lunch. Ordered a mix of sushi which was all extremely delicious and in my opinion very reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again.

So disappointing. I ordered the bento box and the salmon was so incredibly dry it was inedible. Wouldn't order again.

We were really disappointed with our order, certainly not worth £95 for four people! Almost all the food was over salted - especially the vegetable spring rolls. We waiting over an hour and a half for delivery, which the online app was not updated with. We called a couple of times to be told by a brash and rude person that their driver was not there yet and he'd be another 20 minutes to collect it. Very disappointing when it finally arrived and half of it was cold, and all of it was underwhelming. No real flavour to any of it. Do not recommend.

Lovely little sushi restaurant not to far to walk from the car parks or the train station/bus stop. Alot of choices on the menu and lovely food that is presented really well when it comes to the table. The staff are really pleasant and services is quick. Never eaten at a sushi restaurant before, but well recommended for first timers or if youre like my girlfriend who loves sushi, then you wont be disappointed. :)

I came in here with my mum and we ordered a mixture of sushi such as maki, nigiri and urumaki. The food was lovely and tasted very fresh. I’ve eaten at quite a few sushi places and this is some of the nicest sushi I’ve eaten. Will definitely go again!

Fantastic authentic sushi. Also had sashimi which was perfect. Really missed this stuff since we moved out to a smaller town but this was a really welcome way to re visit our old favourite cuisine. The prawn tempura roll was out of this world good!

We had a take away that we collected. At first, we were unsure as the restaurant itself was not busy, but the phone was ringing constantly and they were busy with take aways orders. We enjoyed the sushi we ordered!

Have tried to order twice this week for a delivery and both times order was accepted through Uber Eats then cancelled! What is the point of showing on a delivery app when you won't take the order! Will not be wasting my time again on this place. The PayPal payment was taken I better see it refunded soon.

Popped in for lunch today. What a find, reasonably priced, perfectly fresh sushi, sashimi and nagiri. We also had the mixed tempura. All of it really good. Thoroughly recommended.

I came here by chance after walking away from Yo sushi and it was the best decision. It was just a lunch time one weekday. The staff, though very quiet were friendly and attentive, the service was quick. The food was amazingly fresh and tasty. The portions and sizes were great too. As mentioned previously I'd been to Yo before this and the sushi here was almost twice as big and seemed so much tastier. I also had miso and chicken teriyaki. The hot food too was lovely. Price wise, I think I spent less than I had last time at Yo and as I said, the portions were so much better. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent food, probably best in Plymouth

I went in for a quick meal in between a train change over (and was really keen for some sushi!) - staff were super helpful, very attentive and considerate, portion sizes were huge and fairly priced. Really relaxed atmosphere, very, very happy here! Will come again.

Loved it. Worth every penny and very generous with the amount of seafood in the seafood fried rice! Will be back!

Amazing place. Great service. Yummy food! I don’t like sushi but the noodles were delicious and the people that ate sushi said it was the best ever. Very reasonable prices. Also vegan options, but you have to ask as it doesn’t say on the menu. So glad we found it. Will definitley return! All of us loved it.

Delicious and much better value than what you can find at YO! Sushi. I always like how quiet it is in here and they are always happy to serve me my favourite meal when I go there. Don't listen to some of these people as clearly they don't understand what sushi is. 10/10

Ordered from them on Uber Eats, which they accepted, waited 20 mins approx and then cancelled. Terrible service. If they were busy they could have not accepted the order in the 1st place

The place felt tacky with a strange restaurant atmosphere, can be a better experience with simple things like the interior and the choice of cutlery and utensils. The plates and bowls design kind of clashes and not really Japanese feel, also there were Chinese background music, which makes you think am I eating at a Japanese themed restaurant or just here for the food that is the same if I get a takeaway? Food is ok, the sushi nigiri has more rice than fish which really fills you up, but otherwise it's not worth the price considering the whole experience. Service is good and caring, but I would rather go to a nicer restaurant that puts more effort into creating a better environment for the customers.

When you see oushi from the outside it may seam understated as a restaurant but once you read the very impressive and diverse menu you can see it’s more than meets they eye. After entering My fiancé and I were greeted by a very polite young lady and seated. We ordered a selection across the menu inclusive of Maki, Nigiri, gyoza, tempura and more. All came out very fresh with the cold prep station being located to the rear of the dining area which is always a nice touch. When it came to Drinks there was a reasonable selection with the added touch of having warm sake available in both table and personal sizes (750ml & 330ml respectively) At the end of the meal we were offered dessert but neither of us were in need of any thing more than the initial order. All in all I am very likely to revisit this restaurant each time I am in The area

4 of us ordered the food, we were told 30 mins wait, which we were happy with. 1st order comes after 40 mins, 2nd and 3rd after 45 mins and 4th after exactly 1 hour. What make me laugh is, 1 of the starters literally came after we had finished the main mean 😂😅 And price neither justify the quality or quantity. They do have excellent presentation tho.

Had a takeaway delivered and it was very good. Only downside was that due it being delivered, the batter had gone a tiny bit soggy but what can you expect when you put hot food into takeaway containers/getting a takeaway instead of eating in. Definitely will be ordering again :)

Those in Plymouth who enjoy quality sushi have long missed Goto in Southside St that closed three or more years ago but now the gaping hole has been stopped by this excellent new choice Oishi Sushi In Mayflower Street. It was recommended by three sets of reliable friends and when we came over we first misread the sign as a twee Dishi Sushi but after a friendly welcome and menu our sight of the extensive followed by our tasty selection in a pleasant room with ample booze (particularly Tsing Tao and Sake) we came away determined to be back soon and to try out the delivery service which is free for £25+ within 2 miles otherwise £3. There is limited on street parking at the two ends of the street and pot luck parking in the car park behind the shops opposite. There is a pleasant enough trendy bar next door to Oishi Sushi if you want or need to drink before or after your meal.

Worst place ever, food was so basic for a restaurant of high standards, and very rude manager.

We ordered takeaway from here online, ordered a £50 platter and a katsu curry (for our friend who needs to grow up and learn how to not be allergic to fish). What arrived was a joke, was more like £30 worth of sushi, not at all how much was described, for the price we expected alot more sushi and slightly better quality. And the curry didn't taste quite right either.

Not impressed! Thought we would try this place on Saturday. The reviews are very good but I think the reviews are from when you could in. I would not recommend a takeaway. We ordered a noodle dish which was £10.50 and some sushi. It came to almost thirty quid at £27.50. What we recieved was laughable. We usually order from Kuku or Mr Wok. We will not be ordering from here again. My partner sent them a message to give them an opportunity to respond. They read the message and havent bothered to reply. I have added some photos

Ate here this evening and it was really pleasant after a rainy evening shopping! You can tell they’re new and still finding there feet but I think that added to the charm. Food was really good and had very lovely staff and service! Will be coming back!
