YO! Horsham Tesco Extra in Horsham

Following on from the previous review of problems on Sunday I agree with all that was said. Also the lift was out of action again. Second Sunday in a row! Although not directly Tesco but Costa Coffee must have had problems because everything was served in takeaway cups and paper bags. Update just been to this store again today. Still no lift!

Beware stuff out of date. Told member of staff all I got was oh dear.

Not sure what's going on, this used to be a pretty good Tesco's but now, I just went there on Sunday. Mens cubical was broken, the one next to it was unmaintained "Number 2 everywhere" Disabled toilet was out of order too. Went to scan as you shop, that too was out of order too. 😂 Everything is basically broken in this Tesco's. By far the worst one I've been in. 🙈 Made me want to go back to the Crawley branch 😂

This store is now in direct competition with the Horsham Sainsburys as to who can be the worst at customer service. We visited early on Sunday 20th October. The scan as you shop failed almost immediately, though seemed to still work for staff busy emptying the shelves for those choosing for deliveries. That can happen, but what should never happen is the naked aggression from the staff emptying shelves. My wife was pushed out of the way by a member of staff intent on getting something off the shelf. I nearly had the same thing, but I'm bigger and just growled back that they had to wait for their customer to finish getting their selection first. The staff emptying the shelves are not normally like this, but they are never considerate of customers, seeming to not understand that the people in front of them are paying their wages. Weirdly, the few staff filling shelves seem to behave a lot better.

Shop and scan is for ever breaking down at Horsham This causes massive queues and stressed staff and customers at all check outs. Crawley,Horley and Leatherhead seem to have theirs sorted. Bad management ?

Awful service, 1 till open with 3 or 4 trollys waiting go to self checkout and 2 items in you get store log in required, wait for a few minutes they come and log in 3 items more and store log in required? absolutely awful response from the staff too busy talking about last nights tv. will not set foot in here again. still it's sainsburys gain.

A polar bear must be in charge of the shop's thermostat. Make sure you have a winter jacket with you even if it's+20C outside. It's so cold inside that they might as well switch off the fridges and the fresh food will be fine.

UPDATE: some weeks after my first disappointment came again for a quick one, I regretted it. Used the handset for a quick check out, guess what? Only 2 staff on the whole large areas of self checkout, self scan, self everything, long queues everywhere, asked the staff why are they not asking for help she said “ we ve been asking since morning and nothing happened “ and it was a busy Friday afternoon about 3 o clock. Went to speak with a manager on the shop floor, asking him if he saw what is going on at the checkouts, he followed me, had a look and left. I spent some more time after as I was waiting for my prescription to be done and still 2 staff on the whole self checkouts. What is going on in this store? Empty shelves, cardboards everywhere???? FIRST BAD EXPERIENCE: Came for a quick shop on Sunday, very disappointed, I had to search through empty cardboards in order to find what I wanted to buy, nobody cared to empty them from the shelves, also lots of pallets left everywhere on the shop floor, couldn’t found everything I was looking for, very poor display

My partner and I went in to buy a drink and was rudely spoken too by a member of staff on self checkout asking for id for a monster I went to get my id out off my car and went back in I was clearly frustrated and she responded with my job is more important than your energy drink a couple of my friends also went in that night and had the same rudeness thrown at them too and when I looked at the manager she just shrugged her shoulders

The baker here is very very good - bread is amazing

This store is so badly run. Greatly lacking in stock even for the most basic items. Layout is terrible, can’t find a thing. It just needs a thorough sorting out. Every week another popular item disappears off the shelves. So ruddy frustrating. I’ve given up shopping in this store. Tesco please get your act together if you want your loyal customers to come back.

Rarely have everything on my shopping list, and I'm not talking about unusual stuff, nearly always lacking the most basic items. Quality of fresh veg can be very poor at times. This store also seems to no longer stock larger packs of various goods, cannot even buy a dozen eggs!( other Tesco stores sell them). Either very poor stock control or deliberate attempt to make people pay more for their shopping. Have shopped here for many years, has definitely gone downhill.

Handy shop opersite railway station so ideally for grabbing some bits on way home from wherever by train Nice staff general selection quite good...

Bad experience. After shopping, I needed to use toilets.. Big mistake... The customer toilets were disgusting. Overpowering smell of vomit and obviously not been cleaned in a long time. Either it's negligence or incompetence. neither is good. Not a good advert for Tescos.. Every little helps.. except when it comes to hygiene!!

The big guy in the computer section is the absolute best. I'm 70 and although I'm computer literate I needed some help with my phone / computer integration. Your employee was totally brilliant, patient, policy and really helpful over and well above his job description... plus he totally refused to let me buy him a drink. He is the main reason I will always renewe my phone contact with you. Fantastic customer service, especially for these days.

Customer service was not very polite. I went to them to redeem money from the coinstar machine. I only spoke two lines, but the person cut me off twice with 'what what what what' "Hi, can I use this to pay shopping directly?" "hmm, ok, I wished to get rid of my coins." I was cut off at 'Hi' and 'ok' I live here for almost 6 years and I'm fully capable of speaking English, I wish customer service has basic patience for customer to finish a sentence. Or Asian face is not welcome here or something.

Terrible service here when trying to use a voucher, was publicly shamed and told that I was being “unfair”. Manager was no use at all and just stared blankly at me when I explained why I was upset. Luckily Tescos Customer Services were lovely when I called them, and I now drive to the Crawley branch to avoid this store.

How Did Tesco get a contract with the NHS to be allowed to run a pharmacy business. They never have anything in stock or the prescription is not ready. They are forcing all the independent pharmacies out of the business. It is disgraceful this has been going on the for ages. I feel really sorry for the pharmacist’s they look they never see day light and work realistically long hours. Tesco’s sent my prescription once to Hull, they have any stock for kids ie when you need ear medicine etc. Tesco’s should lose the NHS contract and be charged with slavery on how they treat the pharmacy staff.

Incredibly rude and borderline racist staff

This shop is so poorly run, I can’t believe it is rated so highly. The car park is a mess with litter everywhere and trolleys spilling out of bays. Inside is not much cleaner. Stock control is appalling and the staff on the self-checkout spend more time chatting than helping customers. Heaven help you if you need to use the pharmacy.

This Tesco's is absolutely superb, located in the perfect place just off the A24 plenty of parking, great produce etc , even got a Halfords close by which is handy 😁 every member of staff that I have met in store are so helpful and friendly. Don't shop here often even though I work close by but when I get the chance I do pop along & it's always a good experience , lovely store 👍👍

Why are Tesco's Broadbridge heath , Horsham allowing dogs in to the store definitely not a assisted dog. Only assisted dogs should enter. Yet security or staff say nothing.

Signs above the aisles are completely useless, very difficult to find things, almost no staff to ask either.

Drive here to shop, have to go home again as i dont have a damn quid for the trolley. What a waste of time and fuel. Many of us dont have cash anymore, ive not used any for about 3 yrs! Wake up tesco, you are behind the times, why make it impossible for shoppers to shop??

Lovely store everything you want plus more

I was recently in Tesco, I must say, the new layout of the store did cause me rather a lot of confusion, much to my relief along came (in my eyes) a lady that is most certainly an asset to this company - going by her name tag, her name was Molly. She was the upmost helpful and provided me with clear and accurate directions towards the much loved (in my household) bakery section. Not only did I successfully locate the 12-pack doughnuts, but also had my faith in customer service restored simultaneously. Once I reached the self-service checkouts, it was a pleasant surprise to again be greeted by Molly's striking smile; she maintained an admirable level of professionalism, whilst also being friendly and personable. Not only was Molly fantastic, but I must also give a special mention to Sally and Jasmine of whom were both spectacular. Thank you all for restoring my faith in customer service.

Ridiculously overpriced. They keep moving things around but not moving the aisle signs. Nothing is where it should be, the layout is stupid. I thought Tesco used to be good value but I'm going back to Sainsbury's even though it's a bit further!! Clubcard prices make no difference to overall shop, it's a scam because everything else is more expensive than Sainsbury's.

I have been going there for years but the increase of prices and also they are changing everything around, difficult to find the same things I used to buy and what has been for me a deal breaker for no returning is that they haven't got fitting rooms anymore. Very sad about that as I like the clothes and I know I can returned them but this tesco is not really near me I use to do the effort to go there.

I came in for shopping with my husband in this evening. When we check out at self service , one lady help us to unlock the wine . My husband English not well, he is misunderstanding what she said . He was a lot bit up sad. I was try to explain to him. This time other stuff came over make thing up , said my husband was rude for her colleague , she is really bad person , I think she is crazy .make small thing to big, this is just misunderstanding . She turn over said stop us for shopping in furture and ask security to drive us away from store. This is not fair for us .besides, she doesn’t have that right.I have forgot have her name otherwise I will report to her manager. But I went let it go. She was make me uncomfortable , I am 9 months pregnant , her behavior can make me the dangerous . I think the work not make her busy, she is busy for nothing less than work. Do not why tesco employee her too busy for nothing , not at her work.

I have no idea why they need to shut upstairs after a certain time. I went in for a birthday card to find even that was locked away upstairs. Only tesco extra I know who do that. Terrible way to run a business! I now have to visit another supermarket to finish my shopping!

The shelves were well stocked, which is not always the case, and I bought what I needed.

Perfect place for big shop, all the usual you expect from a Tesco's. Large store with food on the ground floor and cloths, household, phone shop and a lovely coffee shop on the first floor. Plenty of parking and a Tesco's petrol station on site.

I use this store weekly and the staff are lovely /friendly but it’s quite run down. Frequently the self scanners stop working which then creates huge queues at check out. There are often leaks in some of the fridge/freezer sections and always a bad smell in the milk/cheese aisle. Sometimes whole freezer sections are missing as the freezer isn’t working. They have a great range for vegan, gluten and dairy free items (far more than some of the other food stores) and I can usually get what I need in one shop, but they really need to fix the self scanners and upgrade this store with working fridge/freezers.

Needed fuel, 23:45, big signs everywhere saying open 24 hours, specific 24 hours pumps… everything closed! Kiosk closed and all the pay at pumps locked. What’s going on Tesco?

I have started shopping at sainburys and wait rose. Tesco BBH has become so dirty I don’t want to buy my food there. The customer service is absolutely shocking, the way customers are spoken to. The cashier was making comments about products I was buying, and trying to argue with me. So unprofessional!!

It's Tescos. Every store sells the same, just different layouts

A hellscape that somehow manages to not have anything that you're specifically after but has inferior alternatives instead. I spent my last visit fighting the urge to just abandon my trolley and leave. Have never finished a shop here, always gone to the checkouts when I get to the point that I can't take anymore of the stress the place puts on me.

Yet again a queue to get a self scanner on the way in. There simply don't seem to be enough. Avoid!

My wife was very impressed with the service she received today at the scan as you go check out. She borrowed a mobility scooter from the store and when it came to checking out EVANDER was quick to help with the payment and walked her to the car to collect the scooter. He was very polite and couldn’t do enough to help her. Please pass on our gratitude to EVANDER and it would be nice if he could get some form of recognition for his professional customer service. Frequented this tesco for years and never had any issues. Went on a Friday evening to find a disorganised, messy and generally dirty store (litter on the floor in aisles etc). On arrival at the tills only one staffed till was open, already with a queue of 3 people with full trolleys waiting. Queued up as the self serve trolley tills are always a faff and were soon joined by 2 more trolleys. We waited for about 10 minutes before we got to the conveyor, with about 4 trolleys giving up waiting behind us. No member of staff even blinked an eye, despite it being clear how many people were waiting. I appreciate that the girl on the till may not have noticed as she was the only one working (it seemed!) But a quick leave to grab someone to help would have solved it. On walking out, several members of staff just hanging around. Very disappointed.

I would like to offer NO STARS. Just as previous people have mentioned the toilets are offensive. It makes me feel sick. If this is the kind of standards that's never address, hate to think what the rest of the store is like behind the scenes. I noticed no comments by the manager or tescos.

I can't imagine much that this store doesn't sell. Nice range and nice staff.

A shop I love to go to. Great products and even greater prices.

Really well Stocked vegan food and choices. Though vegans BE CAREFUL !! They have wrongly placed plant based and vegetarian sign and so free from meat is included withing plant based range! I have sent an email last time they had chicken nuggets free from but not plant based between. It is confusing and especialy for those in rush or not being on plant based diet that long easily picked !

Had occasion to visit this store today to shop (29th August 2022.). Used the ladies toilets, which once again, after having used them in the past, were DISGUSTING!!!! They were dirty, they stink, the toilet paper holders were broken and one out of the three cubicles were out of order. The toilet brushes were absolutely disgusting, not that I ever use them but revolting having to look at them. The hand basin area was flooded with water and the soap dispensers were dirty. My husband also said the gents was DISGUSTING, both cubicles were out of order and the floor was flooded. This should not be the case in this day and age. As I have said, this is not the first time I have visited these loos and they are always in the same state. I certainly won’t be going there again to shop or use the facilities. Tesco you should be ashamed of yourselves to allow this to happen. Where are your in store cleaners, if you have any, and if you do, they are certainly not doing their job properly.

Nice shop but freezing cold, they've got the air con cranked so high Sir Ranulph Fiennes is using it as a training camp. I had to get in the freezers to warm up. Wear a coat, and tell a next of kin you're just going out.... and may be some time.

Still no better on the 13/6/22 Staff at self scan checkouts attitude leave a lot to be desired ! No improvements since my last visit. 08/03/2021 @4.00pm Very disappointing young staff at the self scan checkouts ! As they squashed all my shopping bag when checking my self scan … I now have crumbs instead of biscuits that I had purchased as part of my shopping. I will think twice about going back ! (as Sainsburys staff seems to have a better attitude)

Petrol station had half of its diesel pumps out of action. No disposable gloves available. Had to use pump on the wrong side then found hoses were too short so had to move car closer. A little bit of thought on the part of Tesco would have made this experience so much better!

Fire alarms kept going off to the point the staff there didn't even know what was going on, after a while staff told us to leave shopping and evacuate which was a bit madness if I'm honest....got the doors to be told they were testing them and sent back in. Staff had know idea what was going on looking as confused as all the customers

Never done a big shop here because you have to have a coin for the trolleys. Poor layout (e.g. nuts in about 4 different places).

Absolute worst experience we've ever had! In the queue for more than an hour and finally at the till and now cannot pay!!! Ludicrous!!!

pretty decent for groceries but expensive, not as big as Horley/LGW store (though they're both called 'Extra'?) so doesn't carry as large/wide a range (eg Decathlon type stuff not sold here).

Terrible staff. There was only one working scale in the store so the staff who pick food for collection had formed there trolleys so noone could get to it, and when I was trying to weigh my item they refusd to move and just ignored me. I do understand that they are in a hurry but they weren't actually using it so could have just stood to one side and let me weigh my one item. I did ask for a manager but as that person could not be found I left the store.

Nothing to say is only a supermarket.You shop for you need pay and go.

On Thursday 11 Feb I visited Tesco to try and find a product for my daughter. With no success I went to the checkout to pay. Whilst there I asked a member of staff (who I believe was called Dorata....I hope its right). She then went and found the product for me, unfortunately it was not the right one but what an amazing piece of customer service. Thank you so much for just this, brilliant.

I am not sure how Tesco is allowed to be open and operating as they are. I felt very unsafe, absolutely no social distancing, the aisles were packed, people leaning over me to get things off shelves, people going past me whilst I was waiting for a break in people to get down an aisle. I don't know how this is allowed to happen when covid cases are rising so much. I feel so sorry for the staff having to work in such unsafe conditions.

Very busy no social distancing guidance in undercover queue. Manic inside. Has to be the unsafest supermarket to shop in. But could get the goods I need.

Social distancing by online/click and collect staff is non existent at this store. My wife has been subject on a weekly basis to staff leaning over her when she is trying to take something from a shelf. The best this week was when the staff member turned to her and said " don't worry I'll let you back in a minute ". Who's the customer? Sort it out Tesco

Very disappointed with how tescos are not managing social distancing in store. When I visited the store was overcrowded with customers who were not keeping their distance and aisles were difficult to negotiate with the numbers of store pickers with their extra large Trolleys were taking up all the room. I didn’t feel safe - there was no restrictions on numbers, no markings n the floor. I won’t be shopping there again anytime soon.

The young lads have in the fish department have some seriously bad attitude problems .

Not be able to pay with cash at a giant store like this is outrageous I had to leave my stuff because I have a life that includes a job and for them to point me to a till....very poor costumer service

They don't have much but they are friendly and helpful for quick shops like bread and milk.

Went to Tesco yesterday whit my twin daughters who are 1 year old I had them both in the trolly I was up stairs at the party selection and the security guard came running up to me and my kids telling me to leave the store so I told him I wasn’t talking to him and to wait I put my phone on Record and ask him why did he want me to leave the Store he then started telling me to get my phone off Record tried to take my phone off me tried to hit me to times and was swearing at me and my kids I told the Manager and noting was done

Absolute disgrace, the supermarket was empty at 1pm yesterday and the managers were just lurking around doing nothing! Healthcare workers who work all day to save your grandparents are unable to buy any food and they are the ones who suffer the most...should have close the doors when you don't have anything on the shelves to buy!

Absolutely horrified to see all the empty shelves this evening looks like restocking the shelves is not going on ~ people need to get back to shopping normally one cant even get a pint of milk or a loaf of bread anymore

I saw meat and I am a vegan - tesco is really not catering to its vegan stock. I couldn't find a copy of the Lorax and even if i did i doubt they would have stocked the 26 i needed. The staff are always trying to take my items and scan them - gov conspiracy? All in all not pleased EDIT: Went back 1 month later and I did find the lorax - 5 copies but an improvement on last and their chicken kievs are good

It's a nightmare to get in or out due to being only one road into the place. They have closed the other road to make way for housing. Give it a miss.

Traffic yesterday was awful. 1 hour in queue and still not able to shop. No staff evident. Avoid at minute until traffic is sorted

Could get in but not out. Nearby roadworks make it impossible to have a great experience. Spent 90min in standstill traffic waiting to get out of car park and still here.

I used this Tesco in July on the Way to Butlins so it wasn't a Big shopping trip but the staff there were really friendly if I was more close I would go there loads

Diesel is 8p a litre more than Tesco at Bognor and Crawley. The store looks dilapidated inside and out and the fresh vegetables are anything but fresh.

Visited Tesco on Saturday 12/10/19 at 2.45pm for weekly food shopping. Very disappointed as most of shelved were empty fruits, yogurts, meat... what’s going on? Happened not first time! Think you will loose customers after Lidl come across.

Traffic was better this morning maybe because bank holiday. Shelfs well stocked.

Go my shipping collected on time and had no issues with getting in and out
