A bit disappointing really. Came here based on the reviews but left disappointed. Rather than a restaurant, it is a more like a takeaway with an area of seating. The food was good enough, although the portions are quite small. Service was slow. we were provided with a fork and spoon to eat with and our request for chop sticks was met with surprise (and they were never provided). We waited for someone to come and offer dessert, or at least coffee, or maybe just bring a bill. But nobody came so eventually I went to find them and found the waiter waiting at the till. It could easily e so much better, but i get the impression they are happy doing takeaway.

We often used to get a takeaway from here but I would really resent getting another one. The food is great, no complaints at all, but the customer service can be appalling. ordered our meal at 7pm and was told it wouldn't be ready until 8pm. So I arrived just after 8pm, to be told it would be another 15 mins. They took my money at this point so I couldn't escape. The place was full of other customers who were also waiting for their food, only half of whom were wearing masks (despite the 'no mask no entry' sign, no one asked them to wear a mask or go outside). So, anyway we went and waited outside, (it was cold). After 15 mins I went back in to ask if it was ready...another 10 mins. Eventually I asked if they would bring the food out to us, which they did at 8.40pm - 40 mins after they said it would be ready, 1 hour and 40 mins after I ordered. We got a half hearted "sorry its late", when personally I thought, at the very least, they should have given us a bag of prawn crackers as way of apology... in fact we didn't get the fortune cookies they usually include. By the time we got our food, we were incredibly hungry, it was way past the kid's bedtime and it just kinda ruined the whole thing. Would definitely think twice before ordering from them again.

We have had numerous take outs from here and are always fantastic. It's not cheap but quality is excellent and doesn't make you feel sluggish after eating. Our favourite is the set menu (£18 pp) as it is huge and contains all of our fave options. Mixed starters; prawn toasts, spring rolls seaweed and chicken satay are delicious and not greasy at all. Next course is crispy duck, plum sauce and mini pancakes. Main course is sweet & sour chicken, beef in black bean, stirfry veg and egg fried rice. All cooked to perfection and so much food!

Ordered a takeaway for myself and my 2 daughters for a treat after a tough day. Was told would be 20 minutes, only live in Beeding so turned up on time maybe just before there was no one in the restaurant or picking up a takeaway. When we got the food home it was cold and inedible. We phoned to explain and and were not given a great response. I like to support local businesses but we will not be ordering from here again.

A last-minute wall-in to an empty restaurant on a Sunday evening, this proved a good choice. Portions were not large, but the food was delicious and not over-seasoned. Tsing Tau beer in bottles provided a genuine counterpoint to the food. Others arrived before we left, full and having eaten everything. Very pleasant.

Most of the food is microwaved and the sauces taste like they come out of a tin .Prawn crackers are always stale and yellow around the edges . Manager now is horrible and rude . We've been using the Bramber Dragon since before it was "New", a long time then. It has been through peaks and troughs. Last night's meal was uninspiring; although it was better for less salt and less of that next day "taste" - msg? which is good. But, overall there was a lack of real flavour - deep fried chilli beef (no chilli flavour), chicken chow mein, chicken in yellow bean sauce and vegetable spring rolls. The best taste was the prawn crackers - good prawn taste. Given the price will think twice before going back.

Menu met 4 gangen o.a. Peking eend, Koo Loo Yuk, Tjap Thoy en loempia's vooraf voor een 19 pond. Heel redelijk want het eten smaakte als bv in NL, niet authentiek Chinees maar goed te doen qua smaak en presentatie. Bovendien even iets anders dan the real english food.

Taking my stepfather anywhere to eat is a tricky matter, he can be very hard to impress. Fortunately the meal we had a couple of weeks ago was really nice, lovely flavours, well cooked, and served by polite and helpful staff. My wife is a big fan of Chinese food, and really enjoys eating here when we come to visit. Yes, the decor is a little old fashioned perhaps, but it is inoffensive, and I would rather eat good food such surroundings than eat terrible food in great surroundings! Like several people we’ve been going here for years and seen a decline in recent times, there is hardly ever anybody actually eating in the restaurant when we visit, which is solely for takeaways. At least until now the food has been ok (if not brilliant). However the takeaway we had this week was simply awful. My wife and I both bought chicken dishes, and whatever they gave us was not remotely like fresh chicken. It was some sort of reconstituted mush, which went straight in the bin, it was not remotely edible. I do not know what has been going on at this place but I’d have to advise anyone seeking decent food to try elsewhere until this changes. Neither of us have any intention of buying anything else there. And it wasn’t cheap either......I don’t mind paying for good food, but this wasn’t something I would want in my house. I suspect that as trade declines they are buying the cheapest ingredients to save money. I can only expect this place to close soon if that is the case.

Went to the Bramber Dragon for my birthday celebration meal with my family. The restaurant was busy with a large party and many takeaway orders. After arriving it took half an hour for our order to be taken. A further thirty minutes later our starters had still not arrived so I complained that we had been seated an hour and still not had any food. A single dish of our starter order arrived and we then watched as other tables were served whilst we waited a further 15 minutes for the rest of our starters.

We have been using this restaurant for the past 14 years nearly every weekend and from the very beginning we were given free prawn crackers which we had never asked for but nice gesture . Last week my husband went to collect our order and was told there were no prawn crackers in the restaurant at all. My husband walked out the door ,then walked back in to see a waiter putting a basket full on a table, when he questioned this the manager appeared and came right up to my husbands face in a threatening manner . My husband asked why he had been lied to and said we are not bothered about the prawn crackers but don't like being lied to. My husband left the shop. Tonight we have been told we are now barred ? We have had family parties over there and ordered large takeaways for family get togethers. This manager is vile although the rest of the staff are lovely . The New Bramber Dragon does a roaring trade in takeaways, but the restaurant is never really full. Seems to tick over, providing an early dinner to those with kids. Saying that, it does some good Malay food, although not to convinced about how authentic it is. Standard Chinese takeaway fare, nothing too out of the ordinary, but nothing too bad either. Service is good, and the atmosphere is fairly relaxed, so a good place to bring kids if they are into Chinese.

Just picked up a takeaway - prawn toast, sweet and sour king prawn balls, and egg fried rice. Cost was £14.05. What absolute rubbish; the prawn layer on the prawn toast was wafer thin and dried out, the prawn balls were 50% uncooked batter, and the egg fried rice was almost completely devoid of egg. Okay, my menu choice was hardly the most wholesome, but try a restaurant like Gars in Brighton and the same order would be succulent and delicious. I've eaten here pn several occassions before and always come back, but last night Saturday Feb 13th was dreadful. Every single dish was cold, and it wasn't down to slow service. The crispy aromatic duck (served pre-shredded off the bone, not a good sign) was as cold to the touch as if it had come staight out of the Fridge. The pancakes, although in a teamer, had obviously come straight out of a packet and not be warmed in any way. Kung Po Chicken and Crispy Shredded beef were tepid at best, with the sauces just this side of congealing - they had obviously been sitting around for some time. Even the steamed rice was stone cold and as such inedible.I mentioned all of this when it came to paying the bill and the response was: "Oh, we have new staff in the kitchen, I'll mention it to them." Needless to say we won't be going again, and I advise any other diners to be wary of these issues. Very, very disapointed.

They do not open for lunch so this involved the restaurant specially organising their staff etc. The discussions and planning were easy and they could not do more to accommodate our plans. William, front of house, said "Don't worry, we will look after you". He was not wrong. We had 38 guests, everything went to plan. The food was great, hot and plentiful. The service was excellent, unobtrusive, glasses re-filled, plates given, cleared without fuss. The birthday cake was cut and served out as if part of their normal service. we've never eaten in but, living in the sticks in sussex, its amazing to have such good chinese food so close. the staff are charming, the prices almost too reasonable, the attention to detail high. The flavours are scrumptious - it's all round excellent! also the food is clean, with lots of proper veg, well cooked and not heavy. dont get that flat out post take away feel! just love it. thank you bramber dragon.

We hadn't booked on Bank Holiday Monday evening but were shown straight to a table. The service was excellent throughout; we were not rushed through the meal and the staff were happy to help our children with straws for their drinks and trainer chopsticks. We had visited the Bramber Dragon for a meal some years ago and also had a takeaway last year but the food quality was even better on this occasion. The appetisers, crispy duck and main dishes were cooked to perfection, especially the king prawns and the pork balls. While there was more food than we could eat the staff offered to box up some of the leftovers for us to take home. The bill was comparable to some of the chain restaurants which serve far inferior food.Would certainly recommend this Chinese to anyone in the local area to try, either for an intimate sit down meal or a takeaway.

Decided last minute to grab a takeaway. The quality of the food from the bramber dragon is excellent and doesn't leave you feeling like you do after a normal Chinese. Quality and quantity excellent and great prices with 15% off for collection. It was very busy.

This excellent little restaurant, tucked away in the picturesque hamlet of Bramber, yet within safe walking from Steyning and Upper Beeding was everything the reviews promised and more. The service was attentive yet discreet, the ambience was pleasant, but the food -- to die for. We had one of the menus for two which gave us a delectable mix of starters, some palate cleansing broth to follow and then, for the main course, just the right mix of delicious dishes which complemented without overpowering each other and there was even enough for lunch the next day. the wine list was also very good, as was the white Rioja we chose. An all round great experience not to be missed by visitors to this corner and locals alike.

We have previously had takeaways from here but decided to visit for our daughter's birthday. The staff were very welcoming and the surroundings relaxing. I was very impressed with the variety of choices on the menu. So much so that we were ages choosing, it all sounded delicious. We were not disappointed. The portions were good and every dish was really tasty. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for a great gourmet experience.

My family and I visited the New Bramber Dragon my my mum and dads' anniversary on weds 1st july. The first thing to be noted was the comfortable temperature on the hottest day of the year, just right, and a Lovely spacious round table all set up ready for us! We ordered 2 of the Peking set menu and 2 of another set menu, to share between us. The mixed orderves were delicious, the chicken satay was to die for, as was the seaweed, and Cantonese ribs. All cooked fresh, and even the prawn crackers were crunchy and fresh. This was followed by a moist duck and wraps, then various mains from the menu, including beef in black bean sauce, which was so tender, chicken with cashews and crispy chilli beef. It was probably one of the best meals, and namely Chinese food, that I have ever had! Thanks so much! We'll be back for our sisters' birthday in a couple of weeks!

Good food but sadly the meal was spoiled by long waiting times between courses and bad service from front of house staff. One of our party of four ordered the crispy duck and after a long wait two main dishes arrived , then a long interval another main arrived , then after telling the staff to cancel the duck because the person who had ordered it had left the restaurant the duck dish arrived !!We had not finished eating the main dishes when the staff started clearing our table.

We ordered online today before the place had opened (our order was accepted) and were quoted 45 minutes wait. We arrived to collect the food and were told the order hadn't been started as the online service is only checked after opening. This meant we had to sit and wait for our food, with no apology from staff. This isn't the first time there's been an issue with an order, we would stop using it if we didn't enjoy the food.

Popped in here with some friends for something to eat quickly as our eldest sons were playing football closeby.was very quiet (circa 7pm) inside, no other other customers, but the phone rang fairly frequently.Drinks were very poor, the coke and diet coke were totally flat, the only bubbles in there being the ones our kids were blowing in and it was still flat and lifeless, rather poor.ordered starters and main courses.starters arrived in good time, not the best, not the worst, just average.Had chicken satay smothered in sauce, crispy duck to share (veg was a little old and lifeless), dumplings and spring rolls.Main courses were shredded chilli chicken, honey chicken, sweet and sour chicken, beef with broccoli, thai green curry (which really wasn't and was the worst dish we had), spicy chicken, egg fried rice, coconut rice (which wasnt), and singapore rice (which was just special fried rice with a load of curry powder thrown in, not very nice at all).Everything that was fried or battered in anyway was cooked to the point of it being eligible to be used as a dangerous weapon, they were rock hard, as a result apart from the sauce to tell it apart you didn't actually know if you had chicken or beef, was just a hard crunchy object.Thai green curry tasted like it was bathed in perfume, prawns in the rice were rock hard and were like little bullets.definitely not somewhere i would return to on the strength of tonight's dinner.
