Yicken in Mole Valley

Unfortunately the Food was terrible Pancake rolls where full of grease I ordered an item and was sent the wrong thing , then although I never have before and they have always sent the right item when I phoned to complain, was told to order with the Chinese item on the menu , no apology or offer of correction The rice had gristle and soggy skin in it And the curry sauce had a burned flavour Only one dish was ok We have used this shop for years But won’t for a very long time , if ever again A real disappointment

Have been enjoying take away from the New Yicken for years and the food was always surprisingly good. Ordered food last night and it has definitely gone down hill and not the same at all. Bad enough that I won't be going back. Two dishes stood out as very poor, Singapore noodles and special fried rice. Overcooked and stodgy and lacking in flavour. Shame as these were always my favourites. I can only assume they have changed hands or got a new chef.

Ordered for a delivery, it came really quickly and was piping hot, very impressed. The chicken chow mein was very tasty. Ate too much but I still have enough for tomorrow. mmmmm 😋

The food was so terrible. I once bought here ages ago and had the bin most of the food. I thought I would try ago as my favourite Chinese take away is closed for a bit. I will bin most of tonight’s food also. So chewy. So disappointed.

We ordered a variety of items last night for delivery although we were slightly concerned by the bad reviews, they were the only place open however we were very pleasantly surprised, everything was fresh and delicious apart from the special fried rice that was boring tbh but everything else was lovely. If you had purchased a fine-feathered chicken, Would you take it to be poached in the kitchens of Yicken? Would you dare to enter, would you dare to intrude, Where the food is foul and the staff are rude, I ordered a portion of Crispy Pork, But was served with morsels from the beak of a hawk, I ordered a portion of Chicken Chop Suey, But the bean sprouts were burnt and the chicken was chewy, I ordered a portion of beef with noodle, But the meat was made from a stir-fried poodle, I ordered some rice, all the way from Norwich, By the time it arrived it had turned into porridge, I shall ne’er again order a meal from Yicken, For there are better ways to serve a fine-feathered chicken! 🐔

If you had purchased a fine-feathered chicken,

the food was dreadful. over cooked greasy and dry. The prawn toast has hardly any prawn, the char su buns dry with no filling. The spring rolls has grease dripping out of the bag !

the food here is good very nice king prawn balls, and sp rice and the staff are very polite and friendly best takeaway in dorking reasonable price also

We ordered mixed starters for two. It was probably the worst food I’ve ever tasted, or not tasted. The ribs were chewy and had no taste, the spring rolls and Samosa were just like small balls of grease and fat.. I did not dare even try them, the sweet and sour sauce had no taste, neither sweet or sour, it tasted of nothing. The salt and pepper squid was disgusting, it had no flavour at well. To top this all off I have had stomach cramps and felt sick for 5 days now. This was a Easter meal for me and my Mum. Honestly the most disappointing food I’ve ever had:(

Got a delivery takeaway tonight, having had one recently of pretty average standard - in recent years this place has been a shadow of its former self as the standard of food was really good and good value years ago. Quite honestly I wouldn’t feed what I had tonight to an animal. Chewy ribs, chewy chicken and pretty rubbish special fried rice. Never again.

Popped in to get a take away. Ordered tofu/bean curd with vegetables and got no veg but in a black bean sauce. Ordered egg fried rice, no egg just brown rice. Ordered duck and mushrooms but no duck in tray. I telephoned immediately once we got home and realised to be told by a very rude lady we have ordered Peking tofu! Well we didn't even get that I got black bean sauce! I said there is no egg in the rice, I was told that is because they only use little egg in egg fried rice. But there was no egg at all in our rice! As for the duck and mushroom without duck she didn't say a word just refused anything was wrong! We will not be back.

Must say the new owners of the yicken have vastly improved the food,my last visit before this one was far below average,I had chicken with Chinese mushrooms and the chicken tasted off,but I’ve since been back since the new owners and the food is excellent a million times better,flavoursome,hot. id go far as saying the best takeaway in dorking

Had takeaway from here ! The contaners were half filled food was cold ! Over priced for what it was! Wasnt happy most of it i threw it away as was tastless

I havent had a takeaway from the Yicken for well over a year as the quality of the food went rapidly downhill. However, I thought I would give it a go tonight and was pleasantly surprised. I had vegetarian dishes as that's my preference. To be honest, it was a little on the greasy side but it was nice and hot and tasted good. Will I go back ? Yes I will.

Tenía un par de no llevar este hace y bastante bueno así que visitamos la semana pasada para una comida para llevar. Ah, qué diferencia. . . El pollo estaba tan duras como las botas viejas y los tres platos sabían igual con una salsa espesa que no tenía mucho sabor. . . . otras carnes solo sabía rancio. . Quizás recalentados y broccolIi estaba dura como una roca y sin cocer? Tomó los dos peores platos atrás (pollo). . Y no nos molesta, pero que al final un reembolso se evita ahora. . Como muy conveniente. Es una pena. Pero hay mucho más para llevar chino en la zona.

When I got the food home, it was one big congealed mess and despite having different dishes, it all looked the same. One mouthful was enough.

Ignore David S review, it seems he had not f#cked the last 6 months and he has nothing else to do than say silly things. Very tasty food and good phone service, it is obvious that they do not do takeaway home service. .. Portions not big but good portions and the staff in reception is helpful. So, looking for a very quick food service, then this is your place!!! Don't bring your lover... It is just a takeaway

No había estado en esta llevar antes, la comida era la típica del género. La zona de espera parecía un poco sucio que me hizo preocuparse por la cocina. Sin embargo, parecía estar concurrida y la comida estaba muy bien (nada especial). El Cracker s gratis de gambas con mi pedido fue un buen detalle.

Luego me llamó después cortésmente preguntando por qué gritó y colgó y me dijeron que ir lejos y que él estaba ocupado. Recomiendo encarecidamente que no vayas allí. Son completamente desagradable.

Siempre nos dan nuestra chino las escapadas desde aquí. El tamaño de las porciones grandes, precios razonables, personal amable, siempre gustos encantador. Disfrute plenamente, sin duda uno de los favoritos de la familia!

As soon as we walked into this takeaway the doubts crept into my mind. We were hungry so ignored the doubts. The place was very untidy and dirty. The food sadly was very bland and over cooked whilst also being very greasy.Would not recommend to anyone unless new management team sort it out.

I've had a few takeaways from here, all very average. Gave it one last try and just the same as before. The chicken was almost rubbery. I had a sweet and sour dish and it was very bland, tasted of almost nothing! Not cheap in here either.

I really like the food at this place and was a regular till I moved away. There's sometimes a bit of a wait but you don't mind when you get delicious food!

This is a takeaway service only that provides decent take away food. We have a meal from here once a week and are never disappointed. Staff are always friendly.

Not bad good value food with choice of foods. Liked the extensive selection and price however quality average.

We've been using Yicken for many years and, whilst meals will inevitably vary from time to time in terms of just how particularly good they may be - as everything is freshly prepared on the day - we've never had a bad experience. Joe & his wife work tirelessly to make this independent takeaway tick and are a delight to deal with. The Won Ton soup and Singapore Noodles are a particular favourite. Tim & Family, Westcott.

The food here is ridiculously over priced and its really not worth the money, i am always slightly suspicious over the meat they use aswell, it always seems very soft and fatty. Its a shame to say because i really like the staff as they are very polite and friendly, and the service is always super quick even when its busy, but maybe they need to rethink their pricing.

Been using Yicken as our family takeaway for many years and can honestly say we have never been disappointed with any of our meals. Great choice of dishes and always a warm welcome - we have tried the other places nearby, including the restaurant a couple of doors away (didnt like the overbearing woman there, the place seemed unclean and food was mediocre) but will always return to our old favourite. Good quality food and pleasant staff - doesn't get much better than that. Highly recommended.

Great for a quick chinese - love it - convenient and great food and now delivers at weekends! Very friendly staff too!

Proberbly the worst Chinese I have ever had. Food swimming in oil, chewy meat. Overcooked rice and overpriced.If you know and like your Chinese then your gonna be disappointed here.Typical English Chinese menu with no flair and we will avoid at all costs.

By far the best Chinese in the Dorking area, have been going there for years and the current owners are definitely the best so far. They are very friendly and greet you personally and most importantly the food is of the highest standard and very generous portions too! The only bad meal i've ever had was when I accidentally wandered into the Cantonese next door (when I was v drunk lol!)We make a 15 mile trip nearly every week just to get our Yicken :)

Been going there for three years now so they must be dong something right :-) Never had a bad meal from them, always tasty and generous portions.Joe and family really friendly and even offer up tasters of new meals while we wait for our meal.

We got takeaways from Yicken recently, and despite the people being really friendly and helpful we were not able to eat much of what we ordered. Vegetable fried rice was only just edible, as it had no flavour whatsoever. Another dish I forget the name of was very average. We also ordered some chips, but they tasted as if the oil they'd been cooked in was old or tainted by something - just yuck. We shop around with food and takeways, but do have some favourite places in Dorking; but I am sorry to say we will not be returning to Yucken.

Having been going here for more years than i care to remember my entire family rate this takeaway TOPS!!! Food is always lovely - service exceptional - just lovely people. VERY rare occasional there has been a mistake with the order and it has been rectified with amazing generosity on their behalf so thank you Joe and family!! Will be in again soon A******

We go to Yicken almost every week, the food is excellent with a great variety of specials, and they always try to accommodate special requests. The service is also very friendly and welcoming.

Run by a lovely young family making authentic food. Try the salt and pepper squid! Only drawback is no delivery service

Great fresh food no rubbish added ,Excellent take away ! Most of the menu is done in a Hong Kong style . But the best thing is that if you like it done in another style they will try and accommodate to suite you personal taste ,You take a interest in the food and they will take a interest in what you would like.

Always use Yicken as my local take away. There are a few choices in Dorking but Yicken definitely the favourite. Always friendly service and super food! In particular, would recommend the lamb curry, and spicy salt king prawn!It is great to see a local independent business like this in a small town like Dorking - support these local businesses rather than the bigger chain places, which unfortunately seem to be creeping more and more into the town. The service is much more personable and you know that care has been taken over your food!

I thought the food was of a poor overall quality, too salty and not well cooked. They need to raise their game and improve the standard as there are at least 55 other places to eat in Dorking.

I have always ordered from this take away as this is the best take away Chinese restaurant in Dorking. Great food, reasonable price and very friendly owners. My children love their food so much we have even asked if we could have ordered for my daughter's birthday party. Not disappointed at all! Beautifully presented and my daughter was so happy! As I know this take away is not linked to next door Dorking Cantonese. I have tried next door and was not very impressed with their food. I am rating 5 stars for Yiken!

I really like the food here. Its easy to get to and prompt with its cooking. Food is tasty but not a massively varied menu. Quite a traditional Chinese takeaway.

I had always thought of Yicken as the student 'cheap choice' option. I learned more recently however that it is owned by the family that own the Cantonese next door and I have to say that the Cantonese is far superior - and cheaper! The food isn't really that great at the Yicken and the value for money just isn't there. Given the number of chinese/peking/thai take away options in Dorking, this has to rank bottom of the pile. (That said however, I do have to say that their salt & pepper squid is particularly good!)
