In need of a place to rest my head and grab a meal for one night whilst attending a local sporting event (long story) I alighted upon this place and I'm so glad I did. After a warm and personal welcome I settled in to do some work and ended up having a superb night. The food was top class, the wine selection short but spot-on and the hospitality from the bar staff (you know who you are!) outstanding. The locals were hugely welcoming too, and I'd have no hesitation in returning.

Deffinately our favourite place to go out for drink / dinner in our area. Always very friendly service and yummy food. As we're in lockdown now, yesterday we've had the collection of takeaway. So tasty. Would recommend to everyone!!

My husband and I visited the Yew Tree for Sunday lunch in October and I have to say the food was incredible. Everything was home cooked and fresh. We were even given a huge cauliflower cheese to share which came piping hot from the oven. The pub/restaurant wasn't really busy either which made for a relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend this pub/restaurant.

We have visited this pub on quite a few occasions for Sunday lunch and the food is excellent, however, it takes a good hour to get the food from ordering it. The last time we went it was with 4 adults and 4 children, and they were hungry to say the least. Although the drinks were served promptly, all the staff were then serving a group of ramblers drinks and seemed to forget all the dinner guests. The table behind us had eaten their meal but were still waiting on missing dishes by the time they paid their bill. It took half an hour for our food order to be taken, then another hour to finally eat. It will probably be our last visit sadly.

Turned up on Saturday lunchtime on a Groupon offer for a meal for two. Well, it is obvious why this pub is running Groupon deals - not a single customer in sight. Pub was deserted. Worse was to come, the chef was not expecting anyone apparently so had gone walkabout and might be back in 45 minutes if we cared to wait. We were not offered any apology or even a free cup of tea if we wanted to wait. We decided the chef was probably not going to show at all plus the food was probably rotting in the kitchen. We has made the reservation through Groupon's booking system but the surly barmaid said we need to make a proper reservation(contrary to Groupon's listing). We took our leave and went to the nearby Cricketers Pub. Normally the Cricketers requires booking two weeks ahead due to popularity but the manager squeezed us in when we told him about our misfortune. Interestingly, the Cricketers charges about the same as the Yew Tree but is run by Jamie Oliver's parents and serves food to dies for and service to match. We had one of the best two course meals of our lives at the Cricketers, about the same price as the Yew Tree with a Groupon voucher. No wonder the Yew Tree is absolutely deserted, no way can it compete in the same locality as the Cricketers. A word of constructive advice to Yew Tree, you need a Unique Selling Point to stay alive here. Going head to head with the Cricketers is suicidal. You need to transform into something like a speciality Barbeque pit like "thesmokehaus" What about a make your own pizza/burger restaurant - we do this at our work restaurant, select your ingredients at the counter, the chef spreads them on the pizza/burger and then they go under the grill/oven. Great fun, especially for the kids. Sadly, this pub will be under new management again soon unless they can think outside the box quickly, a tall order
