Dunmow Flames in Uttlesford

A fantastic kebab shop, amazing food and provide a warm welcome whenever I visit. They look after regular customers which is a great credit to their business!

Staying in the area for a few nights and decided to try a takeaway from Dunmow Flames Pizza and Grill. The lady on the counter was lovely, very kind, welcoming and efficient. We ordered a few pizzas and the chicken platter and I have to say it’s one of the best takeaways we have ever had. The food was great quality, plenty of it and was so fresh and delicious. The only reason we won’t be back is we can’t travel 6 hours for a takeaway. Would highly recommend to anyone! “Even better than Iceland”- my grandad.

Was staying near by for the weekend. Great you can order online and state pick up time. Food was ready really friendly staff pizzas very good. Very happy with our meal thank you 😊

Just Staying with family close by and they suggested ordering flames. We personally visited and just had to say how polite the young lady was at the counter taking the orders. She had a smile and very polite. Looked like she really enjoyed her job. She ensured the order was read back. Very unusual to find these days. Food was hot. Freshly cooked and the restaurant was extremely clean and organised.

Top quality takeaway food at reasonable prices

Great Take Away with the usual selection of kebabs, pizza etc. The pizzas are particularly good with the bases hand made on the premises. Best takeaway in Dunmow!

Good food, good service. Nice to actually get lamb shish which isnt covered in fatty bits. Im greek and fussy with kebabs but this place never lets me down. If you want kebabs or even pizzas, chicken burgers......flames is the place to go!!!

Just ordered here and got home to eat our take away. We ordered a large chicken and lamb shish, chips and a chicken strip wrap. Got home to find no chips with our order, no chicken in the kebab only 3 tiny pieces of chicken in the wrap, not even filling half the wrap. The rest of the wrap was just filled with lettuce. Make sure you check your food before leaving this place! Really poor service.

We've been using flames for years and with good reason. The food is brilliant and cooked over a flame grill. It doesn't have that cheap kebab shop taste, it tastes real fresh. Being a vegetarian I order halloumi wraps or halloumi kebab and along side the grilled vegetables and a nice helping of some hot sauce its just delicious. If your a walk in be prepared to wait a while (around 30 mins sometimes more during busy periods) which I don't mind it just shows how popular they are. So call in advance and get yourself some great food.

AGAIN!! A wrong order. First two times I didn’t say anything, the third I did. Now again it’s happened. Phoned them to let them know and got an attitude on other end. Come up and get right order? No, your mistake! Hangs up. Seriously, don’t take my order if you don’t know what I’m asking for. Prices for what you get are an absolute joke!!

We used to use the other Kabab house just across the road from Flames, but tied Flames in 2021 and the food was nicer and far more for your money. Move on to 2023 and the food is still of a good standard but the price has gone up and the portion size has gone down. So a double blow to their customers. Don't mind inflation but not as well as small potions. The large Kabab used to fill the take away box. Now it's the size of the original small Kabab. shame to say I will now be trying back across the road to see what the competition have to offer.

By far best kebab place in town. Always quickly made. Lamb Doner is not greasy like in other places. The chilli sauce is just heavenly. The whole bunch of guys, despite being sometimes really busy, are really friendly and working hard. You have my respect lads. Teşekkürler.

2 kebab shops to choose from Dunmow, I chose to try Flames again. Even though the guy talked through the order correctly when the bag was handed over found missing food (chips), incorrect food (onion rings instead of mozzarella sticks) and missing sauces (burger sauce).... this is not the first time I have had incorrect or missing food. The food you do get is nicely cooked but the portions and therefore the price in huge! This is not gourmet dining, stop charging so much and offer smaller portion sizes. God its annoying when they mess up your dinner.

Used to really love Flames, however, four times in a row they haven't got our order wrong. Once was after we ordered online so it is very disappointing. Other than that great food.

Never ever had nothing bad from here. Always brilliant. Highly recommend. Staff are very nice. Love em all. Can be healthy or unhealthy depending how ya feel. What other take away offers that. Healthy night chicken or lamb shish and all the salad. Fancy being unhealthy deep fried stuff. But all is tasty and they are very hygienic. I have watched when they handle food then wash hands straight after and before. Defo the best take away in dunmow. Ricky.

Decent kebab, the chilli sauce is seriously good

I have never ordered a pizza delivery before, so when our eight boxes with 14" pizzas arrived on time at our venue tucked down a country lane for our large gathering I was delighted. The quality was very good and everyone went home verty satisfied. Thank you Flames.

The staff are lovely and the food is excellent 👌 There is sometimes a bit of a wait but that's because they're so busy and are working as fast as they can. It's always worth it though, especially the pizzas!

Fantastic, went close to closing and the chicken shish was fresh and prepared exactly right. The chilli sauce is delicious. Definitely recommended.

Boss man always delivers the best food in Dunmow, the wait can be long but that's because everyone goes there because of the quality. Staff are always swamped but make the effort for the personal touch.

Food poisoning central. Ordered a Kebab here and spent the next 48 hours with my head down the toilet with hot and cold sweats. Confirmed food poisoning by the doctors and 2 days off of work 👍 if this wasn’t bad enough, when we tried to order the food for delivery it kept adding random delivery charges of £17.00 then £22.00 to the bill so we had to collect. When we arrived at our slot to collect we had to wait a further 15 minutes for the order as it hadn’t even begun being cooked. Stay away from here, will never eat here again!

Rude members of staff with a poor attitude to customer service, despite having so many staff. Food orders wrong so check. Their attitude is that you should expect poor service on a Friday night because they’re busy!

Ordered lamb kofta with rice, this was amazing served on a plate as we ate in, didn't get chance to photograph the burger as it was inhaled and loved by my partner as soon as it landed

First time tring this. Mixed kebab i got. Chicken shish with doner. Rice. Pitta. Salad and chips. Very tasty and well cooked. Iv been eating turkish food for years not only here but back in turkey as its my second home. I was hoping this wouldnt be another turkish takeaway thats more british turkish than actual turkish. Im very happy with my first experience. The doner was not over greasy like usual from other places. Chicken cooked very well. And i have to comment on the salad for 1 specific thing. I had a disappointing visit, the grill chef handled a kebab of raw chicken with his tongs and squeezed the raw chicken as he put the meat on the grill and then handled a cooked chicken kebab with the same tongs transferring raw chicken on to cooked chicken whilst pulling the chicken in to the takeaway container. This is a superb place to go for quality and tasty food, However when questioned the staff apologized for this action and recognised the fact, dont just apologise, chuck away the chicken you handled incorrectly and send the so called Chef on a health and safety course. NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE HIGHLY UN TRAINED STAFF who boast on the web site that they wear masks, not a mask in site

The staff are super friendly. The food is delicious with a huge choice. They offered us a free drink while we were waiting. We will be going back regularly. Highly recommend.

Been a regular customer since opening. The food is always fresh and really tasty whether it be a kebab, a pizza or any of the other goodies on the menu. They now take cards as well which is a bonus! Try them and see for yourself how good they are!

This place is fantastic. I was visiting relatives in the area, and have had takeaway from them several times before. Each time they deliver the goods, and no I am not a relative! They food is just great. Give it a try!

Waiting time was pretty good considering how busy it was. All staff were polite and friendly, shop looked clean. Chips were tasty and crispy. Ordered a combi kebab, chicken shish had an amazing taste, doner meat was nice and tasty. Chilli sauce could do with a bit more kick to it. Salad was nice and fresh. All in all a well earned 5 stars.

Great pizza and kebab house. Very friendly staff, left my wallet in there once with £400 quid in it. The found me on Facebook and called me up to come back and get it, all the money was untouched. Brilliant and honest.

Waited at counter for quite a while and no staff asked us what we wanted. Just busied themselves serving food couriers, and other collections. I eventually asked if we're supposed to order online. Yes apparently?! Even though we're physically there? Would have been logical and polite to let us know that, having stood there politely 10 mins ourselves. Food was OK. Nothing special. Normal standard.

I always order the American burger with everything in it with chips well done and popcorn chicken. They food as always tasted delicious and now I’ve introduced my dad to it too.

Flames missed off salad and the sauces from my kebab order I had collected.When I called up to complain they expected me to go back out and collect the missing items, although my children had already sat down and were eating their meals. I said fine but I would like a fresh warm kebab, to which they said I had to bring the whole order back and they would cook the whole order again and they expected me to take the meals off my kids that they had already tucked into.They also refused to offer any refund on my £10 kebab and wouldn’t drop any of the missing items off to me although I’m local. No customer service whatsoever. I know it’s a minor complaint but it’s the principle.

Ordered a small & large Doner Kebab freshly made, huge portions, so tasty, chilli & garlic sauce was delicious, when I collected was told cash only, luckily a card machine directly opposite. Takeaway packaging superb for transporting in a vehicle 🚗

If you after a kebab in Dunmow, flames have a great range and are clean and friendly. They also package to transport eg sauces in containers to last the journey.

Burgers without soggy buns unlike another Dunmow establishment. The stuffed crust pizzas & chili burgers are highly recommend. Lovely staff. Not cheap but good quality, you get what you pay for. Definitely the best in Dunmow.
