Yen Oriental in Glasgow City

Having previously eaten here before attending concerts in the past I didn’t think twice about booking again. I booked a table for 2 last Monday with the intention of eating before a concert at the Hydro. I was disappointed to arrive to a closed restaurant and no explanation as to why; I was particularly frustrated since I replied to an email the previous day asking me to confirm I would be attending my reservation. An email to explain circumstances and allow us the chance to book elsewhere would have been the least I would have expected. It was a disappointing start to our evening.

We are clearly one of many who pre booked this restaurant before a concert and most people travelling to attend so we were disgusted to find the restaurant closed after being dropped off outside the venue and heading upstairs to find a small sign on the door. The guy on the door at Routnda could not have cared less with little explanation than a "kitchen issue" and that they had "attempted to contact everyone" yet no attempt was made to contact us. When i advised i was even promoted the day before to re-confirm my reservation it was brushed off as an automated system but could this not have been turned off if the place had been closed for a few days? With a group of 5 of us we could not get a table anywhere else nearby at such short notice unfortunately. Bearing in mind we could have pre-booked almost anywhere the least this restaurant could have done would be to make sure all guests were contacted through their booking tool. No staff were "available" to apologise or inform guests prior to the concert start time but conveniently many staff appeared on site to remove a load of food out the back door when they assumed most guests would be safely inside the Hydro. Would be interesting to know why this closure was so sudden and neccesary. Either way very damaging for their reputation as we will not be back.

We've had a table booked for a week confirmed the table yesterday. Turned up and restaurant - closed!!!! An email would have been polite.

Booked a table weeks in advance to attend before a concert.. turned up and the restaurant had a hand written sign on the door saying it was closed. No prior notice of this and when we tried to contact , there was no answer! Tried every other restaurant nearby and nowhere had a table (which is why we booked in advance). Another restaurant told us Yen had been closed for days. Absolutely shocking that customers weren’t informed !

I had an early booking at restaurant prior to a show, the restaurant was closed due to maintenance! I spoke with restaurant upstairs and they said it had been closed in the afternoon. The didn’t contact us to advise. We couldn’t get a booking elsewhere- really annoyed as my husband is diabetic and needed to eat.

Took friends from Canada here for lunch and it didn’t disappoint, Starters of Mini Spring Rolls, we all had different Main dishes from Salt & Chilli Chicken, Chicken with Cashew Nuts, Hong Kong Sweet & Sour Chicken and Thai Chicken Pad, everyone thoroughly enjoyed what they had.. Nice friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Came here as was going to connect club later same night. Place is great staff friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic although portion size could be better. Highly recommend

Friendly staff with quick service and a nice pre theatre menu. This restaurant is near to a large area of venues making it a convenient place to eat before any show.

Very disappointed with no gluten free main meal options. It’s not difficult to make a curry (and other sauces) gluten free and it could also easily be an option to have non-battered chicken.

Came here as a family of 4 adults . Each ordered a different meal each of them were tasteless. Service was lacking plates cleared and no one came back to offer sweets or tea or coffee . We hadn't been gor a few years because last experience was poor but thought we'd try again . Don't waste your money unless you like over cooked tasteless food .

Visitamos por conveniencia antes de un concierto. Estaba muy ocupado, tardó años en ser recibido en la puerta, entonces no pudieron encontrar nuestra reserva. Conseguí una mesa, pedí y esperé años para empezar. . . ¡Eso nunca apareció! Los principales llegaron primero? Ahora teníamos un poco de prisa, así que solo teníamos todo juntos. Los rollitos de primavera eran agradables, el curry rojo era sabroso, pero la carne no era de buena calidad. Las raciones eran buenas, aunque. Nuestro camarero era desternillante, muy agradable y nos hizo reír. . . Pero el resto del personal parecía desinteresado y con exceso de trabajo. Entiendo que es probable que sea difícil lidiar con números tan grandes al mismo tiempo, pero seguramente esto es normal en cualquier noche, ¿hay algún evento? ?

Was here with some colleagues, lovely staff and good portions for a lunch meeting. Will definitely be back on next occasion.

Had my dinner at yen oriental yesterday. It was indeed a fabulous experience, food was amazing, service was excellent, everything was fab i’d say. Would defo be back again xx

Pasamos entre una sesión de Strictly matinee y War Horse por la noche, habíamos leído buenas críticas, así que sentimos que disfrutaríamos de nuestra cena.

Hacen un menú pre - teatro para 17. 50 por cabeza por dos cursos y un extra de 2. 00 si quieres un dulce. Siempre ocupado y mejor reservar con antelación. Servicio rápido y eficiente, aunque un poco demasiado ansioso por quitar los platos debido a que seguimos sentados, por lo que nos sentimos un poco presionados para terminar y salir. Hay estacionamiento disponible al lado del edificio, pero es necesario registrarse en el restaurante. Hay una rampa y ascensor para minusválidos. La comida fue muy buena, sin ninguna queja de parte del grupo, pero el menú dulce era pobre y restringido, lo que nos deja con la impresión de que no quiere un dulce porque necesitamos la mesa.

First visit today for lunch with my 6 year old grandson. Lots of choices on the set menu,grandson tried chicken satay for the first time and described it as delicious the king prawn tempura was perfect. Remaining courses also great. The staff were all so lovely and friendly. The Bill was very reasonable for the quality of the food and service.

Visité el Yen Oriental antes de mostrarnos en Armadillo. No estaba lleno, pero habíamos reservado en caso de no estar seguros de qué más había en el área. Nos sentamos en una de las cabinas de la ventana, mirando hacia STV y el Clyde. ¡Hacía mucho frío! El tiro que entraba por las ventanas era horrible y tuvimos que comer con los abrigos puestos. (Sugerencia: si come aquí en una noche fría, húmeda o con viento, pida una mesa lejos de las ventanas o una cabina con la pared a su lado en lugar de una ventana.) Ambos menús estaban disponibles, pero elegimos el Pre - Teatro . Los entrantes fueron pollo satay con salsa de maní y mini rollitos de primavera. Aquí todo era cálido, pero los Sticks de Satay estaban un poco grasientos. La presentación está bien. Los platos principales fueron pollo agridulce, pollo con cebolla de primavera y jengibre y pollo estilo Szechuan, todos acompañados por un tazón invertido de arroz frito en un gran plato separado que vino en un momento separado. Las comidas principales vinieron en grandes platos y estaban tibios. El arroz, al ser servido así, estaba frío. La presentación estuvo bien, pero podría ser mucho mejor y sugeriríamos tener recipientes con calefacción o recipientes con tapa para el arroz, de lo contrario es bastante desagradable. Está idealmente ubicado para eventos en el SECC, Armadillo e Hydro, pero la comida podría mejorarse. Este restaurante se encuentra en el piso de la calle 1 y los baños se encuentran cerca de las puertas principales en la planta baja. La comida fue adecuada pero, lamentablemente, no nos apresuramos a volver.

This was my fourth visit to Yen,and the quality of the food is consistently very good.On this occasion the service quality was not quite as good as previous occasions,with my rice arriving at my table about 4 minutes before my main dish,but credit to the waiter for quickly replacing it.

Tried here while up in Glasgow for a concert at the nearby Hydro....really fast efficient service,very friendly....as there was a gig on there was only the pre theatre menu available but to be honest it suited our needs...£17-95 pp for 2 course was really good value and the choice was more than adequate....food really nice...would recommend.

Had a meal here before a concert. The Rotunda has several restaurants just a few steps from SSE Hydro. Just a pre concert menu available but plenty of choice. The meal was good and the service was very speedy. It is very important to book on concert nights as I watched many people get turned away at the door. A little expensive but very convenient.

This is a lovely place to come for oriental food! There is a good choice on the menu, very reasonably priced & the food has always been nice! The sushi especially is on point!

We ate here for the first time on Tuesday 27th Nov 2018 before a concert at the Hydro. Its literally across the road and if you are eating in the building then they validate your car for parking for 24 hours! This is a massive plus. The food was fantastic, we have the pre-theatre menu. The prices was also really reasonable. Excellent service and despite the place getting busy, we did not feel rushed at all. The only suggestion I would make would be to add an option of side dishes to main meals and it would have been perfect.

This is the best Chinese I have ever eaten, delicious. If you're in Glasgow then definitely worth a trip to, whether to sit in or take out.

Visited with some colleagues on an early weekday evening. The place was quiet, staff were prompt to serve and friendly.

Meal itself was nice but felt very rushed by staff hovering about the place hadn’t even finished starter and main meal was coming.. let me relax and digest my food. Felt bit uncomfortable sitting around other people not much room between tables tables each side of me could hear there conversations. It did have booths but noticed it was only groups of four and no couples sitting in them. If you want to relax enjoy a meal and want privacy don’t go.

Went for pretheatre menu before going to hydro, great food and portion sizes. Slightly more expensive than other similar restaurants but worth it for closeness to venue. Everyone enjoyed food, 4 different starters and mains, chicken satay sauce was great! If you manage to get a car parking space you can park there for free until show ends just tell staff and they ask for your registration plate. This is a big plus.

Stopped here before a show at the Hydro, only the pre-theatre menu was available which was fine. Unfortunately the food we ordered was poor. Mine and my girlfriend's spring rolls came just 2 minutes after ordering - warning bells were ringing. The fillings were devoid of taste and lacked actual filling - it seemd like it was just mostly pastry. Clearly they were cooked previously and heated up to order. Our mains were also poor, tasteless and the rice was mushy and cold.

First off - the staff were fine. The issue I had was with the food.

After a hard day standing at an exhibition it was great to get a Taxi to the Yen, my colleague, a Scotsman had been here before, the food and service was great and all served with a happy smile.

Lunch at yen was great, the tempura was perfect as was my main course of salt n chilli chicken, I did need a sauce with this as it would have been too dry without. Good red wine also. The decor is a bit dated and could do with a revamp and there are far too many tables, it was a bit like a works canteen

Great speedy service. Environment not particularly Oriental - no atmosphere. Tables far too close to each other, about 6 inches apart meaning there was no privacy. My black bean sauce was more like a think watery soup. Could be so much better. Relying on volume of people attending the Hydro I think.

Really enjoyed my visit here. I ordered for the pre theatre menu (2 courses for £17.95). To start I had chicken gyōza and for main salt and chilli chicken with egg fried rice. Both dishes were delicious.

Luego nos llevaron a un agradable Booth con bonitas vistas del río Clyde. . . Luego viene la comida simplemente increíble. . No puedo recomendarlo lo suficiente. Fue tan bueno.

Not many people there so staff were very attentive. Food was great and atmosphere was fab. Will return and would recommend.

Visita familiar de 12. Dos camareras para restaurante. Yo tenía que ir dos veces para las bebidas del bar, que era una pila de vasos vacíos y ninguna persona. La comida llegó después de una larga espera y orden estaba equivocada. Cuestión finalmente. Branquias para encontrar cargos de servicio aplicado a la factura que pagué mi hermano. Nunca la gestión deficiente de la mejor vuelta y mala relación calidad-precio.

Yen Oriental está ubicada en el edificio rotunda (ver más abajo para un poco de su historia) enfrente de la SSE conciertos de última generación. Es una de las cuatro opciones que se encuentra dentro del edificio y en las noches cuando hay muchos conciertos en el Hydro o lugares de armadillo siempre está ocupado, así que reserva con antelación es muy recomendable.

Visited this restaurant while attending a concert at the SSE Hydro. Welcoming staff, decent menu and service, above average food - good value pre concert meal. Recommended.

Visitamos antes de un concierto y había reservado 5 sushi h. Menú Llegamos y no nos dieron el menú de sushi, cuando pedimos la chica parecía indeciso, pero lo hizo y me la dieron. Mi compañero y yo pedimos desde el menú de sushi y el otro par eran con un menú fijo de pedido. Su comida llegó, entonces esperamos por unos minutos en la nuestra. . . . Luego llegó una camarera. y dice que el chef de sushi no era esa noche? ! Así que no podía haber ningún sushi! Así que, ¿por qué no nos dicen en primer lugar, cuando preguntamos por el menú, en segundo lugar, cuando la orden de alimentos de la cocina y en tercer lugar, incluso el tiempo suficiente para elegir otra cosa antes de la otra comida llegó? !

Nous avons testé la formule Sushi à volonté qui est proposée occasionnellement (voir les dates sur l’affiche à l’entrée). Honnêtement ce sont les plus mauvais sushis que nous ayons mangé. Peut être que le reste de la carte est meilleur ? Le service est correct.

As a family of sushi lovers, the idea of an ‘all you can eat’ sushi buffet was irresistible. We went on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was around half full. Sadly all the window tables were already taken but we had a comfortable table in the middle of the room. Service was a little slow to start- it took a while to order drinks and for someone to explain how the buffet worked. However, once we had the drinks order in and the food ordered, service was flying.

Great food and great service...we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service is very attentive without being overbearing

I visited with a friend prior to attending the Hydro. The restaurant was quiet but the atmosphere was warm and peaceful. The food was delicious and could not be faulted in any way. Presentation was attractive and the service was very attentive and polite. I loved that we were able to leave the car there and walk across to the Hydro and amazed that parking was totally free. Prices were perhaps a little high but then again, the food was exceptional and parking was free for the whole evening. I will certainly return.

Chose this restaurant for its close proximity to the SSE Hydro as we were attending the Hollywood Vampires gig.

Yen used to be a family favourite to go for meals for Birthdays and Christmas. Don't know what happened to the place used to be good, but now it's just went down hill completely not the same anymore the menu is so bad and food is a disgrace the only thing that was okay was the chicken, and the service is terrible. Would never go back here again.. so disappointed and was so sad to see an old favourite place not be the same anymore completely has went down hill.. we want the old yen back!

Came in for lunch before heading to the IMAX. Excellent choice for a set menu and good sized portions. the staff were very pleasant and attentive. I would definitely giving Yen a try if you're in the area, and we'll be back

We booked a table for four here before a concert in the Hydro. The pre theatre menu looked great so we were all really looking forward to it. Our order was taken very promptly which was good considering how busy they were, however the drinks took 20 mins to arrive and the starters took 30 mins, despite the wait time we all enjoyed the starters.

Hemos llegado al Yen antes del teatro durante años y siempre un buen servicio y una comida riquísima. Reservamos para 6 o'clock última noche para ir y ver Nashville. Treinta y cinco minutos antes de que un camarero tomó nuestra orden, comida y asientos tomó años, eran tan hacinados que nos sentimos como si estuviéramos con la gente en ambos lados. La gente alrededor de nosotros también estaban quejándose de las mismas cosas. Allí eran demasiado pocos camareros para el número de personas sentadas, pero eso no impidió que a personas que no habían reservado. Creo que necesita para revertir a la manera en que estaba dirigido en el pasado.

Cinco de nosotros reservamos para una cena antes del teatro La última noche para las 6 de la tarde, antes de ir a Concierto de Nashville. El restaurante estaba muy lleno y por 6. 45 todo lo que tuvimos fue una bebida y nuestra entrada. Uno de nuestro grupo se quejaron y experiencias que tuvimos un espectáculo y me dijeron que la comida estaría fuera pronto. Nos presentó a continuación con la factura, pero todavía no el plato principal. A las 7 de la tarde, pedimos el gerente y recomienda su nos íbamos y no pagar por lo que tuvimos. Ella dijo que estaba bien y se disculpó. Si un restaurante ofrece comidas y tomar reservas comprobar teatro para tales, deben asegurarse de tener suficiente y personal tanto de cocina planta para tratar con sus clientes. No volveré.

I have had a brilliant night. Before any food reached our table we had the attention of several staff members. Attentive and extremely efficient.

Been coming here for years whilst attending gigs and conferences at SECC, Hydro etc but disappointed this visit as pre theatre menu now very limited (not as shown on website), and table layout now really crammed. Gone are the days of table cloths, prawn crackers, food/rice dishes which used to be served up (now plated up in kitchen), post meal fortune cookies, hand wipes, etc. Feels a bit like fast food now. Such a shame.

we were staying at the Hilton, and wanted something close. were seated immediately but then given menus that we couldn't order from - so having spent 15 min deciding what to have we had 2 min to change our minds. Then our starters didnt arrive, but thank goodness a member of staff came and asked us if they had. We both had sushi starters which just tasted of rice. Then the staff had to confirm our main courses - wonder what we would have got if they hadn't?? my main was a tasteless Sushi platter. The red Thai curry was tasty. Was like eating at a not too good fast food place - wont be back .....

I rebooked Yen after going several times over the past few years as a coeliac, and have always had the best experience and RAVED about it to my friends (both gluten free and non gluten free). When I booked several weeks ago (And noted that one person would be gluten free), no comment was made that it was now under new owners. Menu was completely changed and now mostly Japanese with a bit of Thai... but no Chinese (of which it was before). Most disappointing was that there nearly no gluten free options under new management, whereas before we had the option of most menu choices (lemon chicken, shredded chilli beef, hoisin beef...basically most things on menu). The only option for me was a tom kai prawn Soup (tasted like tomato soup with prawns) and sushi. Sushi was nice... but not what I would have picked, nor wanted. The other non gluten free diners were also not overly impressed, whereas before had been totally in love with their meals. I won't be going back unfortunately, whereas before this was one of my fave places to go ever!!!!

We went to this venue as it was very near our hotel ( The Campanile on the SEC estate)so convenient. The food was very good, staff very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced. The place had a nice atmosphere and they were able to accommodate a large group at short notice.

Went to yen tonight for the all you can eat sushi and was definitely impressed. Staff were very friendly and explain everything (types of sushi etc) very well. Sushi looked and tasted amazing, will definitely be back next time!

Absolutely terrible service. All you can eat is a straight up lie. Plates take half an hour to come out. We only got 3 in an hour and a half (after which they kick you out). Food itself is average. Just go somewhere else.

This place was great but now it is a generous 2 stars as really should be 1. Portion sizes have changed and food now is rubbish. The Tonka something curry is vile. Not good enough for a dead dog. The place is 90% empty and I know why. Will not be back. Tealshame

Nos dieron dos staters que era realmente agradable, me dieron la carne y jengibre, que estaba muy bien mi hija tofu curry, mi hija es vegetariana y había una buena selección de platos para ella. We are currently sitting at the restaurant waiting for our sushi. We arrived at 19:30 for the all you can eat, now it's 21:40 (2 hours and 10 minutes later) and we're still waiting for our 3rd turn. Nothing more to add. Never again!

Best Tom Yum soup I ever ate in UK! Sushi platter is also yummy and fresh and the nom tok .....to die for.Overall, im a fan not that easy to pleased but Yen made it possible.The order came fast,hot and the delivery guy was a perfect gentleman.

Have used Yen many times before mainly for a pre-theatre meal and been quite pleased. However the menu has been changed and on this occasion the service was dreadful.

Despite recent poor reviews at The Rotunda , I have to say the the food was excellent , perfect portions , nothing daunting and good value. Early evening visit and the service was good. Don’t trust every poor review you read !

Great place for a meal when visiting hydro and Secc. The service was efficient and friendly and the food was really good quality. The pre theatre menu was great value for money and drink prices were reasonable too.

Dined here pre concert menu. Quite a nice selection and reasonably priced for three courses. The food was very tasty and enjoyable indeed. However I did feel a bit rushed and unrelaxed. As if they needed to get us through as quick as possible. I didn’t understand this as the resturant was not filled to capacity. The staff were polite and friendly and you didn’t wait long for your meal to arrive. Perhaps on a non concert evening my experience may have been different.

Amigos y yo íbamos a un evento en el SECC y originalmente destinada para comer en el restaurante italiano, pero encontramos abajo (para un lunes por la noche) ocupado hasta el punto de escándalo y descontento con la mesa que nos habían llevado a opciones más tranquila cuando estaban disponibles), decidimos superar un retiro apresurado. Hicimos nuestro camino hacia Yen, donde todo era más calmado, ya que el restaurante estaba muy tranquilo. Este fue probablemente no es ajena a los precios, lo que parecía en la parte alta. Procedimos a tienen una serie de estuvimos bien presentadas, platos cocinados servidos por un amable y comprometido joven mujer. Sensación izquierda contentos con nuestra elección.

We arrived to the rotunda building and upon entering really enjoyed the buzz in the place (4 different cuisines in one place - if we’d have had time I’d love to eat my way through all the restaurants).

We have used this restaurant for many years and this is the worst experience we have experienced, our table was booked for 6 45pm, ordered our food and drinks. It took 25 minutes for our starter to arrive before our drinks which arrived ten minutes later. Our starters were cold. Main meal arrived and was warm along with the wrong order of rice. We have been in this restaurant when it's been extremely busy but the staff last night could not cope with the pressure and were running about like headless chickens. When questioned at the end of the night the waitress couldn't understand that we were complaining and just kept smiling at us! It will a very long time till we use The Yen again. I would strongly recommend people to have second thoughts on using this place.

Shown to table for 5:00 did not get starter until back of 6 this was after been shown 4 main courses which we did not order. Staff running around like headless chickens trying to count table numbers and guessing at what was ordered. People leaving in droves as tired of waiting for food. While this was all happening Management swanned around or took to hiding in the back. This used to be best lace to eat in Glasgow

Arrived at 4.50pm for a 5pm booking and we were quickly shown to our table and order taken. Starter arrived by 5.05pm with drinks and was tasty, but then everything went wrong. As the restaurant got busier (there were only about 5 tables occupied when we arrived) chaos ensued. the three ladies at a nearby table had one main course delivered and she was finishing her meal when the other two got theirs - only after chasing up the waiter. The two ladies at the table next to us waited patiently for their main course as did we and we noticed others who arrived long after us were getting theirs. The waiter apologised several times but the writing was on the wall. A couple seated a few tables away got up and left, the two ladies at the next table got up and left. By now it was 6pm - yes 45mins after we finished our starter!!! We also gave up and left. A Pre Theatre Menu I think not - they totally screwed up and I felt sorry for the waiter/waitress as they were at the sharp end and can only deliver food when ready. I could never recommend this restaurant based on this experience. It took less time to drive to the restaurant from Edinburgh than it did to sit and not get fed!!

If possible, when attending any concert|event at Hydro, SECC, Armadillo etc, I always eat at Yen. It’s been one of my favourite eateries for many years and was so reliable for great service, delicious food, nice surroundings....all at a fairly reasonable price. NO MORE IM SORRY TO SAY !!Arrived bang on time for our table last night, leaving us an hour and a half before we had to be at Andy Murray Live. We did note some differences in the layout and it was busy, as it always is at big event times, but we were seated within 5 mins, so all was going well. Then it all went wrong !!We realised after sitting for 20 mins without anyone coming near us, that this was not the Yen we knew and loved ......we were sitting surrounded by angry, hungry, thirsty people, some who had been waiting an hour for a main course ! The couple next to us left some cash under their drinks and left.....followed over the next 10minutes by at least another 20 others. Youngsters were running around firefighting.....cleaning tables and seating more people who sat like meerkats, looking around constantly, trying to catch a youngster who was moving at pace. I stopped one in their tracks after 35 mins and ordered drinks and food.......I had to go to the bar and retrieve the drinks myself after a further 10 mins !! Got starters ....hooray !!! and they were very nice That was our lot though..... I saw the guy who runs the Italian downstairs make an appearance a couple of times but looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights......eventually another adult appeared and at least got rid of the baying mob of around 15 who were in various stages anger. We had to leave with 10 mins to go before the start of the event.....so it was crisps all round for our main course !! So, so disappointed

Enjoyed a pre theatre meal before attending a concert at the nearby hydro. Excellent, efficient and fast service from friendly staff. Good selection and food was big portions and absolutely delicious

We visited this restaurant and ate from the pre-concert menu. £18 for 2 courses did seem a little steep for what the food was, but ultimately you are paying for the location - 2 minutes walk from the Hydro. If you take advantage of the free parking (I would recommend getting there early if you plan to) then you are offsetting the cost of the meal further. The food itself was fairly standard, tasty without being anything special. That being said, we would return under similar circumstances in the future.

We came with our family as they had been here for Christmas Dinner last year and thought it was fantastic!! On arrival we were given 4 paper menus that were looking a bit worse for wear. We started to look at drinks and were pressed for an order, we asked for a bit more time. We then started to look at the dinner menu, at which point a member of our party realised it was not the menu they were used to. She asked a member of staff if there was another menu, and was told yes, so she said would we be able to see it. We were then told yes, there is another menu, but no, we can’t have it. At this point we were advised that even though we had booked online, where we viewed the menu available in advance, the restaurant style had now changed, and the menu along with it. “We changed to a Korean style restaurant 4 months ago, but haven’t changed the website yet”. When we booked online, we entered our contact details - email and phone number - so it’s not even as if they didn’t have the opportunity to warn us of this major change beforehand. By this point, we had been pressed again for a drinks order, so ordered and decided to stay - we would normally have went elsewhere, but we had a concert to attend and wouldn’t have had enough time. So we ordered and dined. As we were eating, we were eyeing up the cocktails from the menu. The waiter came over and as we went to give our order, we were told “We don’t do cocktails anymore sorry.” It wouldn’t have been difficult to let us know when we were given the menu. Again, an inexcusable lack of communication with customers. Safe to say we were looking forward to this meal, and were thoroughly disappointed. We won’t be back.

Had a meal there recently with friends. The restaurant was quiet but not deserted and the four of us were looking forward to an intimate catch up. The food was good, not amazing but certainly tasty with the prawn tempura a particular favourite. However all night long one of the several members of waiting staff kept hovering around our table asking if we were OK or insisting on pouring our wine for us. We are all middle aged women perfectly capable of pouring our own drinks. I don't know who thought this was a good idea but it just irritated us and made us feel uncomfortable. The staff also provided a slice of chocolate cake for my friend's birthday which was nice but frankly unnecessary. I doubt if we'll be in any hurry to return.

Rather disappointed to see the lunch menu now 10.99 not 9.99 as shown on the website, and a much reduced range of choices to that on the website and with no sweet course option.The restaurant only had 7 diners at 1pm so no atmosphere. The food was mainly Thai and Japanese. Our choices were served promptly but my beef was a bit chewy and my wife’s salmon a bit crispy. Waitress very pleasant.Not great value and won’t return

Booked online with no problems. Arrived to a friendly welcome. Picked a three course meal off a set menu with good options. Three courses devoured. Delicious . Great value for £20 a head. Will defo come back.

Went for a pre-show supper yesterday. Their website highlighted a kids menu which I needed following major gastric surgery - there was none. We ordered quickly, got our starter and then waited 1 hour for our main course. It never came and so we left to get to the show on time. Needless to say the lack of food caused me problems later and we had to leave the show before the end. I have never been to a more chaotic restaurant, lots of running around, no one taking responsibility, totally incapable. Never again.

We booked 'Yen' as usual online as we had booked a show at the Armadillo.At no time were we advised that Yen was now Yuzu and served Korean, Thai and Japanise food. We felt obliged to stay as we had ordered drinks. Three out of the four of us struggled to chose from the menu. Our daughter is vegetarian and chose the Tempura veg as her starter. There was about eight thin slices of veg and a very small dip on the plate for £5.95. The batter was very greasy and she never finished it. Two of us chose the Thai green curry which was quite bland and again very pricey when you added rice etc. We didn't enjoy the experience and will not return.

After travelling Thailand and loving the food there I immediately looked for the Pad Thai and I was not disappointed. The seafood Pad Thai was delicious and very authentic. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My first visit loved the food, staff great and attentive, we ordered 2 cocktails only to be told they were not serving cocktails, even though the cocktail menu on the table? a bit disappointed but will still visit again for Yum Yum chicken

On your website for this restuarant it advertises Chinese thia and Japanese but these are not available as it all changed in July.We were really disappointed as there was no Chinese food available and we felt obliged to stay as we had booked and ordered a drink before we got the menus that to someone who doesn't do Japanese food was like double Dutch no help was offered and what we picked was bland and lukewarm anyway these websites should be updated regularly very disappointed.

We often eat here when in Glasgow. Always have a good meal.Plenty of choice and not expensive. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Looked this place up online, seemed really good. The layout is amazing and looks really nice. Service was good when we first arrived but dwindled as the night went on. Had salmon teriyaki to start, which was good but not great. Then had a very bland Katsu curry for main. Wouldn't go back.

The meat was nice in the stone dish , especially the way the rice bed kind of stickied the rice and made it tastier .My receipt from the till was headed Yuzu . So it's not yen anymore .The tofu soup dish , which accompanied my main was yuk .

Husband and I had a table booked for 5 p.m. on August 5th. Place was very busy.Girl took our order, but didn't write it down - which was worrying.Starters arrived. Tasty. We then waited...and waited... for our mains. People who came in after us were being served andd some, who were already there, were still waiting. (We watched as wrong orders were being taken to different tables.) After 45 minutes.....after speaking to a waitress....our mains finally arrived. (No apology.) Food was o.k., but could have been hotter.We had no time for dessert or coffee.A poor start to a special evening........

I have been to his restaurant a few times and have never been as disappointed as I was last night. Have always praised it and recommended it to people.I had reserved a table which was fine when we went to order drinks they told us they had no cocktails or Budweiser which we thought was strange. So we ended up just having cokes.The menu we were given was a pre theatre menu which was nothing at all like the one shown on their website and did not have anything remotely familiar on it except for a chicken katzu curry which both myself and my friend had but both of us left about half of it.My friend was only having 1 course we felt like they were pressuring her into getting a second course and were charged for 2 courses even though she only had one. Terrible experience

Yen used to be excellent for a business lunch. Always busy. Went today. Only 6 people in place. No set lunch menu. No noodles. And incredibly tasteless curry. For first time in my life. I had to put pepper on a curry! Very disappointed. Must be a change in ownership/management?

I have been going to this restaurant for years but I was extremely disappointed when I visited with my daughter today. We had booked a lunch table because we were attending an event nearby. We really enjoy the food that is normally available at a very reasonable price in the lunch menu. Unfortunately this menu is apparently no longer available, despite the fact that it still appears on the website. The menu that was available had almost none of the usual Chinese dishes and the dishes that were on the menu were quite frankly far too expensive for a quick lunch before a show! I am very sad to say that we will not be back. I thought the previous menus available were a truly winning formula and can't quite believe the changes they have made will suit their customers. Also, not updating your website when you do make drastic changes to your menu really isn't very professional.

Visited earlier this week. Pre-theatre menu has been very much cut down with very little choice. Waited 30 minutes for our starter (had to ask again for them) and main course followed quickly. Couple next to us had waited 50 minutes on main course. Also gone up in price. We always used this restaurant when at SECC but not now. Time for a change.

My last review stated not as good as last year however I am pleased I tried this again. Service as always was prompt and friendly and food quality was back to high standards 9 people eating and all seemed to enjoy what we had. I would recommend the Thai green curry and the duck from the menu. Will be visiting again when I am in Glasgow

The service at Yen was rapid (slightly too quick) thanks to the efficient and friendly staff. Nothing about my the food set Yen apart from your average oriental restaurant but the Gyoza Chicken Dumplings were decent and it's elevated,1st floor location offers good views across the Quay/ Clyde. The menu is pretty extensive covering Japanese, Thai and Chinese meals. The prices are slightly on the steep side, particularly the drinks. Handy restaurant if you're staying in the Crown Plaza or Campanile.

We decided to order for delivery and was advised 40 minutesAfter an hour we looked at the order and it had been rescheduled with another 30 minute delay. After a further 30 minutes we ended up phoning to be told a few minutes.Lets just say it ended up being over 2 hours in the end. The food was hot at least but a mixed bag considering the cost Salt & Chili squid 3 medium bits 2 morsels so over £5 for 5 bits not good 2/10Salt & Chilli chips - soggy and with too much veg - bland 2/10Chicken teryaki - good portion very tasty 8/10Shredded crispy chicken - good 7/10Special curry - more onions than anything else, some flavour but poor value 5/10Katsu curry - chicken overcooked and stiff - 5/10Overall 3/10Service 2/10Value for money 3/10Food 5/10
